Then I thought okay it's mid week, lunch time, so I came in. I was limited on time, came in and ordered a pizza and a beer. Told the server she could serve it in the to go box since I had to go sooner than I would have liked. Service was friendly, prompt and she still checked on me after I had paid. Although the place was not busy, there was a large table with a baby and 2 pre schoolers. They were all well behaved, but still I'm always surprised that breweries are now for kids. I really liked the decor!

My husband was saying how much better it will be when we come back in the summer with the huge patio and all the garage doors open. I agreed, but I also think part of the reason we loved it so much was that even though it was a cold, gray February day, inside Parks and Rec had so much greenery and lots of windows so it felt summery inside! Our server was super friendly and went over the menu with us, telling us which items were most popular and which were his favorites. I got the peanut butter porter which was really good and hubby liked his s'mores stout as well. We split one of their huge pretzels which came with whole grain mustard and beer cheese...delish!! Then I got a 1/2 apple and pecan salad, which was more pecans, apples and dried cranberries than salad (and I mean that in the best way!) My husband let me try one of his chicken wings which had a nice spice to it. We were very pleasantly surprised at how great our whole experience was because the reviews were pretty mixed but honestly, it was a great visit from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Some of us needed coffee. Some (not the parents :-) wanted something more mellowing :-). Enter Higher Gravity on Summit Parkway. They have a full menu of (soft) coffees and teas, a full bar, and a "bottle store" of more spirited beverages. The coffee was strong and smooth, some with dairy, some with oat milk! Almond and coconut "milks" were also available. Espresso drinks, too. Nice! They made me a lovely, even smoother, black coffee with bourbon to sip. Another got an ice-cold Weldwerks Orange Creamsicle sour, flavored true to its name. Street parking is a little sparse, but several spaces right in front are for takeout, so we found a spot easily. There are some seats out front, and the playground is right across the street with several picnic tables outside of the kids-space. Perfect for all our wants and needs, including responsible alcohol-free childcare.

I've made my way through the entire menu (food and drinks), and there honestly isn't a single item I wouldn't recommend. Everything is consistently spot on every single time. That kind of reliability is hard to find, and it's exactly why I keep coming back. That said, a few personal favorites stand out. The goat cheese flatbread appetizer is a non-negotiable. It's the kind of dish you order "for the table" but secretly don't want to share. The cacio e pepe and pasta rustica are also incredible and always hit. As for drinks, the seasonal espresso martini is always a go-to and never disappoints. But my personal favorite is either the regular old fashioned or, when I'm feeling myself, the wagyu old fashioned... especially if Scott is behind the bar. He clearly knows what he's doing, and it shows. The service is always warm, attentive, and consistent, which makes the whole experience even better every time. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere, and a bartender who takes his craft seriously. I'll definitely be back (again...and again).

Pasta was a vegetarian offering but not if you want some protein. Very popular space that look us weeks to get into. With so many local Italian options I believe I will try another one.

I don't know that there's any way to know this, but they were closed to the public for a private party until 4:00. Not a big deal. We grabbed a tea around the corner and returned after the party ended. This place is great! What a fabulous selection of brews. Even more extraordinary was the massive selection of alcohol free beers. I've never seen anything like it. Though the partiers lingered a bit, we were able to snatch a comfy table for two by the window. It's the perfect spot for two. Unfortunately I don't recall what I ordered, though I'd remember it if I saw it. Mark had a AF beer and he really enjoyed it. I tasted it and it was delightfully unique. The selection of beer to purchase and take away was huge. I intended to return after dinner, but it was cold and I was too ready to go home. The gentleman running the place was super helpful even though he was managing the party and the remaining party guests as they cashed out with drinks to go. We will most definitely return!

There is no 'meat taste' at all so get in here and give these a try. I had a feeling I would love it and I did. It's a large yet cozy venue with the number 5 featured prominently in assorted art as well as on the tables. The building is historic, lots of wood, brick and brass railings plus a stunning Victorian bar back. We ate at the bar which was very comfortable. Little sliding wooden trays to make it convenient for eating, then just move them out of the way when you're done. They have 10 or so craft beers on tap and a full bar. We had the opportunity to sample a couple brews and we both enjoyed our beer choices and the food. Prices were fair, and tax is included in the menu price. I really want to shout out our bartender/server. Didn't get her name but she had round glasses with eyeglass chain attached and was on the shorter side. She was very customer focused, answering all our first-timer questions, attentive, appropriately conversational, and definitely on the ball as she was handling tables too. Top notch service. About those railings: unless there's a special back entrance, the venue may not be wheelchair accessible. There are two or three steps at the entrance, and if you want the bar instead of booth or table, another three or four. Both have sturdy solid handrails. I do not fault them for this; probably the historic building is exempt, but just wanted to note it for anyone needing that info. All in all a five star experience and I hope to return soon.

While perusing the wonderful assortment of krauts, kimchi, kombuchka, and beet kvass, Jenn fed me samples of the various krauts as she told me all about the lacto-fermented process that makes them tasty and healthy. While I was deciding which flavors to buy, I was struck by the number of people who came by the booth to pick up what appeared to be a regular purchase or to discuss how well the krauts had gone over at Thanksgiving dinner. I grabbed three jars of kraut to go -- Seaweed, Red Apple Caraway, and Spicy Dill. I had the dill kraut on a turkey sandwich yesterday and it was fabulous. The other two are intended as gifts, but with people who I hope will share them with me in return ;-) For a city with as much German heritage as Cinci, the products served up by this small business should be welcomed with open arms. This is kraut like your ancestors used to make, and is pretty much a lost art these days. How inspiring to see a few young entrepreneurs reviving the culture. Cheers!

I bought the brown bottle with the bright label that said "Fab Ferments". At first, honestly, it was weird. Not only did it foam over the top, but a string of cultures sat on top of the foam and kind of creeped me out. But, once I skimmed that stuff off, I took a sip, and loved it! Since then, I grab a bottle nearly every time I'm at Park+Vine, Findlay Market, City Flea, or any other local event at which I see them. I've had their saurkraut but I'm not much of a fan of the stuff in general, so I never buy it. I've never had their kimchi but I'd like to give it a try someday!
