Gotta love an establishment with unisex bathrooms and a sense of humor!

We had their cheese at a tasting a year ago, and really enjoyed it so when my birthday came around this year, I thought going to Urban Stead would be a fun outing with my husband, adult daughter, and her boyfriend. I was right! The owner, Andrea was very helpful with wine and cheese selections. Four of us shared the Mother Board and we didn't leave a crumb! It was a lot of fun tasting one cheese at a time, discussing it, then moving on to the next. Because we ate it in a sort of interactive way, we were there for a relaxed 1.5 hours, enjoying our cheese and wine. All of them were delicious, but I think I liked the Tomme d'Evanston and the Quark with Honey & Blueberries the best. You can't go wrong with Street Ched or their Gouda either.

    Cheese curds... YUM

If you haven't been here yet, don't wait any longer! You'll find flavorful and wonderfully made cheese (so awesome that it's made on location), friendly and knowledgeable staff, and honestly one of the best charcuterie boards I've ever eaten - the variety on the board was hard to beat, with the selection of cheese, nuts, fruit, pickled veggies, and meat (if you choose to add it). Also, don't skip the cheese curds.. or order them to go! So glad to have this gem in our backyard of Cincinnati! Tip - the cheddar is a great wedding goodie bag treat :)

We have been wanting to check Urban Stead Cheese out for awhile, and it has surpassed all of our expectations. The interior is clean and modern with the bar and cheese case on the right, plenty of seating indoors. You can see the endless cheese wheels aging on shelves through large windows along the back and left walls. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our server spent time explaining their different cheese offerings and gave great recommendations. We opted for cheeseboard with charcuterie: Gouda, Cheddar, and Brie. The board was beautifully presented, and I felt the prices was more than fair for the value. The cheddar was the best I've ever had - nutty, complex, pungent. The Gouda and Brie were fantastic as well. I'm glad we got the charcuterie because it worked really well with their cheeses. This place is the real deal. Their passion for cheese is clearly evident in how the staff talk about their cheeses and the menu that they present. They are closed most of the week to focus on their craft, which is probably for the better since we would otherwise be there every day. Check them out!

Space consists of many tables and a bar area, the cheese room is visible with racks and racks of cheese. Good wine pairing and NA options, split a motherboard and was impressed! We had two of the 'award winning' cheeses. Would come back for celebratory event.

The service was fantastic, and the charcuterie was amazing! Since they make cheese, I think they could have offered a few larger cheese portions on the board. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine selection. We tried a Greek wine that paired perfectly with our board.

Mother board for Mother's Day seemed fitting

I made my first trip the Urban Stead Cheese to get a few cheeses to have on Mother's Day with my family. The staff was very helpful and my order was put together in less than the 20 minutes they had estimated. Though I couldn't tell exactly which cheese was which when we ate them, I'm pretty sure the one I loved the most was Quark with honey and blueberries. It was so soft I thought it might have been butter. I also enjoyed what I believe was the Tomme d'Evanston, as it has a nutty flavor that is one of my favorite kinds of cheese. Worth the drive from nky!!

Beautiful to-go cheeseboard with street ched, aged gouda, seasonal quark, and charcuterie.

Absolutely love this place! It's one of our favorite date night spots in Cincinnati and it's where we chose to go on our last night before we moved across the country. The boards here are our favorite (we only have two in Cincy that we absolutely love). Let's start with the cheese - it's award winning for a reason. It's fresh and it's always incredible. Our usual order for the two of us is the Cheeseboard with street ched, aged gouda, and seasonal quark (don't sleep on the seasonal quark!). We also add charcuterie which is always delicious. The additional items on the board (nuts, jam, pickled veggies, fruit, etc.) are also delicious. When I tell you we leave nothing behind, I mean NOTHING. The drinks have also never disappointed. They have beer, wine, and cocktails so there's always been something to match our vibe for the night. The service and ambiance won us over immediately too. We've always had wonderful service there. The owners and staff are knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. And the space is the perfect in between depending on what you want for the night. It's casual enough that we can go sit at the bar and watch the game on a whim and nice enough that we can get cute and have a romantic night out. I've also seen a lot of group gatherings there, from ladies night to professional networking. I've sadly never taken a picture of our board when dining in but I did take one of a board that I ordered to-go and it was just as delicious and (surprisingly) beautiful as always. Obviously, I highly recommend Urban Stead.

Ok. I have a tradition. Whenever I pick up my to-go order of Urban Stead cheeses, I stop for a glass of wine and a little bite. I just can't resist the combination of cheese, wine and football, baseball, or whatever is in season and on the screen. It's a perfect late lunch: delicious artisanal cheeses with fresh fruit, nuts, crostini and jam, and Andrea, Scott and their team are welcoming and happy to explain their amazing products. Plus, they have a nice retail bottle selection, fresh Allez baguettes, cracker, jams and everything you need for a great cheese or charcuterie board. It's no wonder I'm always asked to bring my cheese board to parties - and no surprise I'm happy to do so!

We drove down from West Chester to enjoy a fabulous charcuterie board and some great wine. Andrea and Scott are so friendly and knowledgeable that we could have sat for hours and talked with them. We had a beautiful French Rose and ordered the Mother Board so we could taste six of the cheeses. All of them, every one, was outstanding. The accoutrements they put on the boards compliment the cheese and meats very well, and the designs are gorgeous! They have an area to purchase what they serve, and many nice wines. We bought a case of mixed whites/Roses to take home. They are only open on Friday and Saturday evenings so you'll have to plan a visit into your weekend. Highly recommend leaving the burbs to enjoy this place.

Amazing cheeses. We had both cheddars, Gouda, pimento and the quark with honey. Great price for how much we got. Nice staff and friendly atmosphere. Will recommend to others for sure.

Urban stead provided a cheese board during our picnic with sunday afternoon picnics! We re vegetarian so didn't need the full charcuterie and they were able to double up the cheese and leave off the meat. The dried fruit and the pickled gherkins were a great add on. The crackers were a light flaxseed type that paired well with the cheese. We especially liked the Brie!

I'm so glad Urban Stead dining room is open again since Covid started! I've been checking the website to see if the dining room opened up and they just opened up a few weeks ago! As soon as I found out, I had to go! We were welcomed right away by the staff and the owners kept checking in on us throughout the night. I've been here a few times before covid started for happy hour. It's the perfect spot to start of the weekend on a Friday for a chill night while you figure out what else you may want to do that night. What I love about urban stead is the vibe, staff, location, quality, and of course, THE CHEESE! Unlike other cheese tasting places around Cincy, Urban Stead offers quality for a great value. You get what you pay for and the appetizers and drinks are reasonably priced. Like all businesses they had to increase prices slightly after covid, but I still think it's the beat bang for my back. The 3 cheese platter comes with 3 choices of 2 ounces of cheese and for a few more dollars you can add additional cheeses or charcuterie. From the pics you can see that this is a decent amount of cheese and accompaniments for 3 people that aren't starving but looking to have a good snack to fill up on. I always go for 3-4 cheeses vs the larger ones like the Motherboard since I have come with 2-3 people, but if I had a group of 4-6 I would definitely consider that. They have a great selection of soft and hard cheeses. You can see their cheeses aging in their dining room. I love both soft and hard, but appreciate the ages flavors of hard cheeses. This time I had gotten the Street Ched (7 months aged), the sun dried tomato and basil quark, and the Misty River. We added charcuterie to the plate for $4 extra and I'm glad we did. We had a large plate of cheddar cheese curds as well. I loved the sharpness of the Street Ched. I could eat an entire wheel :) the quark also paired very well as a base on the crostini's and pies well with the mustard seed sauce! The misty river is a delicious Brie type of cheese and it paired so well with all the fruits! The board has a great variety of pairings for the cheese and it's always fun to try everything. I have to say the pickled peaches were amazing and the pickled green beans were so different and I was in love with whatever pickling juices they put them in! I think they need to have all the pairings available to get more servings or get them as sides. I could definitely eat a bunch more of the pickled green beans and peaches. With this and the pretzel bites we had a ton of cheese curds leftover but I wasn't complaining :) I also tried the rhubarb gin cocktail. I wish the cocktails were a little larger for the price but it was delicious and refreshing. As a cheese lover I cannot wait to come back and get more cheese. I've tried pretty much all the cheeses at least once so if they come out with new ones it'll be nice to try something new. This is my go to girls night or chill Friday afternoon spot.

Me, for reference ;) mother board!

Forever advocating for an Urban Stead Cheese location in Anderson, can we please make this happen?! Hubs and I packed up the whole family (teen and toddler) and we all LOVED it. My youngest, not the biggest eater, devoured so much cheese and bread; we were shocked! We knew ahead of time that we were going to splurge for the Mother Board $45. Your choice of 6 cheeses with meat, delicious fig jam, mustard, fruit and nuts. Although the fig jam and mustard are not made in house, they were delicious! They do have a small retail section that I checked out from afar. Next time I'll have to see if they sell the fig jam because it was amazing. They also sell walnut boards and cheesy swag. Get the blueberry honey quark, it's an absolute requirement. Along with the Curds and Tomme. And the cheddar. Just get everything and thank me later. The only thing I would slightly tweak is the amount of meat, a couple more slices would've been perfect. The beer prices are so fair, most cans are only $4! They also have a decent selection of liquor and wine and their social media presence is on point! I had a question and they responded within minutes. The owners were kind and thorough with their presentation and clearly has passion for cheese making. Plenty of space to stay and enjoy or take home some quark for toasted bagels. Their charcuterie boards are gorgeous, they do catering AND they have gluten free crackers. They've thoroughly thought this business out!

He dramatically stormed the back entrance of his work station to approach us in the common area of the market to "beat our asses." We have since learned that his name is Sid. That's him in the blue cap. Why? Twenty minutes earlier, we'd stood in a long customer line that went all the way back to the next vendor. Sid repeatedly ignored the line by helping random customers who congregated in front of the line. After waiting an inordinate amount of time, he finally worked his way to us, and that's when I decided to call it to his attention. I wasn't rude or nasty; he just didn't like being called out! "Do you want to place an order or not" he says. I ignored his surliness and attempted to place an order. "Just shut up already" he added before I could get my words out. He pushed the final button, and for a hot minute, I sank to his level; we traded profanities and then I left with my companion. We didn't have to think too long to decide that his flagrant display of disrespect was not acceptable. We chose to launch a formal complaint. To show exactly who we were dealing with, we came back to snap his picture. We told him that he didn't get to treat us with such disregard and expect us to spend our money with Gibbs. That's the moment he lost his mind! Before the situation escalated any further, we left the establishment again, this time seeking the assistance of John Bird, the director of Market Operations, at Findlay Market. Mr. Bird assured us that he would talk with Claire and Jeff, the Gibbs owners, but warned that any disciplinary actions would be up to them. Weeks went by, and we decided to reach out to Gibbs ourselves. Over the phone, Jeff acknowledged that he definitely heard from several sources what happened. He gave us a weak apology and tried to justify Sid's behavior. We all have bad days, but there is no justification for Sid's arrogance, anger, and unprofessionalism. We're not of the customer-is-always-right school, but Sid was WRONG! It was an ugly and extremely uncomfortable situation. We shop at the market on a weekly basis, and don't feel as if we have to tip around a powder keg. Perhaps that's how Gibbs feels about their repeat customers. Perhaps that's how they do business these days - a tap on the wrist for ugliness that would've gotten anyone else fired! Yes, we think Sid should be FIRED! Oh, and might I add the employee pictured in the red cap cursed us and royally gave us the middle finger as we walked away. For all of these reasons, we're no longer Gibbs' customers - and Jeff agreed that was a determination we had to make. Now that you know what we experienced, perhaps you will choose to be a former Gibbs customer as well. As easily as it happened to us, it could happen to you!
