I found/rented a 10x10 unit "on-line" (size and value - slightly lower costs than other nearby storage locations/chains), but what "sold me" was the management and facility. WOW! The most friendly and helpful management (Samina) and the cleanest, most effectively managed Public Storage franchise ever. I was immediately impressed when I arrived by how neat and clean the entire facility was maintained. The manager is Samina, and she is an exceptional "customer service / take care of you and the business" person. She knows every unit of "her" public storage franchise (and as I learned later, she also knows her customers). When she took me to my unit, she noted the roller-door was slightly ajar (needed maintenance). I thought it was fine, but she found me a nearby available unit with a "perfect roller-door" and asked if it would be OK to reassign me to that one (her concern was for me to be happy with the unit). She also sent a message to the maintenance team to check the other unit/adjust the door before it will be rented. On subsequent visits (loading items into my storage unit), Samina was helpful (making sure I found the carts, etc.) and recognized me remembering which unit I rented from memory (not needing to look-up my account). Samina's outstanding management and care about me "the customer" coupled with the cleanliness and value has convinced me the Alban Road Public Storage franchise is "best in class." RECOMMENDED!!!

I used them two years ago and had a fantastic experience, but this one definitely fell short. I scheduled my move for 10 a.m. and received a text message at 2 a.m. the morning of my move rescheduling my appointment for later that morning. There was no explanation given in the automated message, and suffice it to say I was not happy (in addition to the automated message, I would have appreciated a quick mail explaining the reason for the reschedule, and offering me some sort of compensation for the inconvenience). I was even more unhappy when they arrived later than the rescheduled time. The movers worked very hard and given the number of steps and the amount of belongings, I felt that the amount of time the move took was acceptable. However, what made me most unhappy about this experience was the condition of my furniture when it arrived... and the subsequent lack of response. Before and after the move, they do a "walkthrough" to look at your furniture, note any pre-existing damage, as well as any damage that was sustained during the move. In theory it is a great idea, but in practice it was pretty pointless. It's almost impossible to thoroughly perform that task when there are boxes and bags all over the place, and you can barely move around in the house. The day after my move, as I'm unpacking and reorganizing my furniture, I noticed some damage to a few of my items. My bar suffered significant damage on both sides, to the point where some of the wood has been completely chipped off. One of my living room chairs had a really bad scratch on one of its back legs, and my dresser got a pretty bad scratch on the bottom. (Maybe the furniture was not wrapped properly. I don't know). I contacted the company immediately to inform them of the damage. In response, I was reminded of the walkthrough and was told that the owner would get back to me. He never did. The reason I chose to give repeat business to Jason and his company is because it was a small business run by a guy who really seemed to care about his customers, and wanted to do a good job at a great price. Since then, the prices have gone up, and the service (in terms of getting my items into my home undamaged) has gone way down. Moreover, this company has consistently demonstrated difficulty properly managing scheduled moves. This move was delayed because a job they booked the day before went longer than expected. My first move with this company was also delayed because Jason booked two jobs too close together and the job before mine also took longer than he expected. These delays should not impact the customer... and if they do, then the customer should be compensated for it. Otherwise, if you see you're getting behind, bring in some extra guys, and do what needs to be done to get to the next job on time. I really liked doing business with this company the first time and was hoping for a repeat performance. Sadly, that was not the case, and as a result, this will be my last time doing business with Quality Movers.

Jason told me that I didn't have to pay one. I thought that was strange because I had never experienced that with a "professional" moving company. Initially, I just wanted them to load and unload my own moving truck. Then, the day before my move I decided that I would use their full services. Jason told me that it was not possible because it was last minute. Ummmmm, what type moving company does not have trucks available?? I don't care if it was the morning of. You're a moving company for goodness sake! So I'm like whatever. I did wait last minute I guess. Anywho, they showed up 20 min late but I didn't trip about that. A couple of hours into loading the truck, I notice a car has been outside all the while with a lady sitting in it staring me down. Astonishingly, it was the mover, Jason's wife! It must've been bring your wife and kids to work day and I clearly didn't get the memo. They literally loitered in front of my building for the entire 8 hour move (yes, I said 8 hours!) in the car waiting for them to finish. Why couldn't they stay home and he just come with the car? She was their ride. Seemed kind of fishy. Like did either of the movers not have a license? PEOPLE BEWARE. That could be a liability to you if your mover isn't licensed or insured. So after unloading the truck, Jason wants to talk fees. He came up with this outrageous fee that he calculated in his head. He wanted me to pay 30% more than what we initially agreed upon, based on a whole bunch of hidden fees that were not discussed during the initial quote. I was completely in shock. The audacity of this man to charge such an excessive amount with everything that transpired throughout the day. Let's go through the list of horrible things: 1.) I had to provide my own truck. 2.) He was late. 3.)He brought his wife and kids to work. 4.)They took FOREVER!! 5.) I had a truck with more than enough room and they didn't load the truck properly. I had to make several trips after the "move" in my car to finish getting my stuff. 6.)They tore the walls and doors to the brand new apartment so now I have to pay for painters. 7.)They tore up the deck to the patio which will require a paint job also. 8.) Scratched the top of my dryer that I was planning to sell (now it has rusted :/ ) 9.)Annnnd his wife's car battery died and she asked for a jump. 10.)They also took the liberty to help themselves to some of my stuff that I had off to the side for disposal. I expressed my grievances about the fee and that I was not paying that outrageous amount (HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A TRUCK! ), which upset him. So guess what he does next? HE STOLE THE KEYS TO MY RENTAL TRUCK!!! I called and messaged his phone and asked him for the key with no reply. I finally had to just call the police. It was a complete nightmare. I have NEVER experienced anything like this before. I've used more reputable moving companies for less the time and half the cost. I'm so shocked at all these five star reviews. My experience was HELL. Moving is never a walk in the park -- I hired movers to make my life easier and this was the complete opposite. My experience with this company was unprofessional, unreliable, and completely UNACCEPTABLE.

She looked up and me and then looked away so she wouldn't have to deal with me. Another man walked in and nodded at me, then went to his computer. Then a loud group of employees walked in. No one acknowledged me. Finally a man called me over to a window. I told him I was there because I had reserved a unit online. He walked away - was he getting someone to help me, or was he checking online reservations? Nope. He just walked away, with no word. Finally, finally, FINALLY, an employee informed me I was at the wrong window (the first guy called me up there, how was I to know it was wrong when he literally just left me without a word?). Then they couldn't find my reservation. "No worries," I said, "do you still have available units?" He said he was printing out a list of available units and would get a coworker to walk me through them. Then he went to help the man behind me in line. It's a small office, so I could hear every word. It was not a comforting conversation. The customer behind me wanted to pay for the entire year. So the employee brought him an invoice... for one month. "No, I want to pay for the whole year," the customer said. "It's all the same," employee insisted. "But I want to pay for the whole year now. And unless your policy has changed, it isn't all the same. If you pay for the entire year at one time, you get one free month." At this point, I was more inclined to believe the customer's word than the employee's word. The employee called his manager and had a conversation with him, then tried to convince the man to pay for just one month. Disgusted with the lack of knowledgeable employees and their abysmal customer service, I walked out of the office at that point. It wasn't a short conversation between the two, and yet no other employees came to help me - including the first woman who was still at her computer. The storage facility is low-priced, and now I know why: it's not a quality storage facility. I wouldn't trust my belongings to be in the care of these people. I'd rather pay three times as much if it meant I could work with competent, intelligent, conscientious human beings.

There was only one billing hiccup and it was because my newly chipped card had the expiration date changed. They were quick to call me and get everything updated. I was a little nervous about it not being climate controlled, but everything I stored in there (including upholstered furniture) is just as good as the day I stored it. Everyone has always been overly pleasant and helpful each time I've gone. It was hands down the most inexpensive place I found in the DMV area and the fact that it was in DC made it all that much more convenient. Sure it sucks they're not open on Sundays, but neither is Chick-fil-A and I still like them...
