So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

In the course of 2 years, company decided to raise my agreed rental rate 3 times for up to 50% more than initially agreed. After confronting the manager, I was told this is out of their hands since corporate decides when and how much the rental increases occur. Instead of moving my business elsewhere, manager offered a smaller unit at a much lesser rate, taking into account that "rate will not increase for at least a year and even if it does, increase will be marginal". Trusting this company I decided to go ahead with the downgrade. To my surprise, less than 4 months later I receive ANOTHER RATE INCREASE NOTICE!! This time the increase would be for more than 50% starting next month. This increase like all the others happen for NO JUSTIFIABLE reason. As expressed by many others, this company has a long history of PREDATORY BILLING PRACTICES. They purposely wait for you to be settled with your storage to increase your rates, not by a marginal amount but increases of over 50% of your agreed rental agreement. I appealed this with their superiors in writing but they failed to even respond. I am now in the process of starting to take legal action against this company and needless to say I recommend everyone to stay away from this corporation completely!

In the end we opted to go with a company with a little more of a solid reputation, just for our own personal peace of mind. Our move is not a cheap one, and when turning over all of your earthly possessions and a chunk of your savings, you have no choice but to err on the side of caution. That being said, Jamel was an absolute delight to deal with. He spent 2 days corresponding with me about our move, the inventory, and explaining every single penny we would be charged. I cant say enough positive things about his professionalism and customer service. Unfortunately for PMS, I am not much of a gambler. If you are, and are willing to give the new kid on the block a shot, you should call Jamel. Jamel, thank you taking the time to provide me with such a detailed quote. I do wish you the best of luck with the future of your business.

We had a lot going on so we needed a company that could completely pack and move us with as little hassle as possible. They came to our old place and reviewed and inventoried every item. We have a lot of art and a particularly unique glass table. They gave us a quote that was significantly higher than any of the other movers, but we chose them for several reasons. 1. The actually came out to understand what they were moving 2. They explained how they would handle the art and glass table 3. They stated that all their workers we salaried employees with no day laborers 4. It turned out that the guy who came out had gone to school with my daughter so we made a nice connection The day before the move they came out and did all the packing. We were impressed by the efficiency of the team, their speed and their unity. The day of the move they showed up on time and got to work. Again very efficient and effective. They packed everything in about 3 hours. We we got to the new place they again were super efficient. Even though I paid a ton of money, I ended up giving each mover a $20 tip. According to them, although they are employed by the company they don't get a ton of benefits and they wish they got higher wages. Still the fact that most of them had been with the company several years and that the got along well tells me they were being treated well. As we unpack we are finding out just how much paper they used to pack everything. This meant that nothing broke, but it also means I have a landfill worth of paper to throw away (recycle). Bottom line was that it was a great experience. The reason I did not give them the 5 stars is cost. Ultimately I don't regret it and will definitely come back to them for any future moves, but hopefully I will be able to negotiate a little better in the future.

Lawrence devised a plan, helped me pack, and Matthew started getting things out of the apartment for more space. I had requested three men but someone had called out. However, iMovers called another guy who promptly arrived and was able to stay most of the day. Once from Indiana to Baltimore City, and the second from Baltimore City to Michigan. The first time I moved with them, the moving coordinator I worked with was very communicative, checked in with me throughout the moving process (including when my items were being picked up), and was conscious of my anxiety levels. The second time I moved, I needed to contact Stephanie to remind her of upcoming deadlines, follow up with her when she said that she would get back to me and failed to do so, and was also unprofessional at times, uttering profanities like "retarded" in reference to the move itself when on the phone with her. What's more is that one of my inventory items never even arrived to me. They launched an audit to find the lost items but came back empty, so I guess one of their workers just walked off with it. The pay out on the audit also was less than half of what the items were valued at. Some of the items that were lost can't be replaced. Like how does something just walk off? You're a moving company that specializes in moving things, and you're one of the most expensive brands in the market with guaranteed service.
