While they seem legit and nice at first and had arranged for 3 men and a moving truck for us, on the day of the move, a guy with a truck shows up who doesn't even work for their company and tells us he doesn't "do moves." The company couldn't even get their story straight since one person blamed it on a scheduling error however the owner apparently had told the guy with the truck the night before that he couldn't do the job. The owner lied to me repeatedly saying we were on the schedule and that we would receive our deposit back. It took us well over a week for us to get that deposit back and they only did so after I posted bad reviews and told them I would report them for consumer fraud. Moving is stressful enough and they made our day a living nightmare. They also had terrible customer service in the aftermath of the move. I'm honestly shocked we got our money back at all...It would appear they probably don't want anyone investigating their business practices. Despite getting our money back, I wouldn't recommend working with them and would caution anyone thinking about it to read all the bad reviews about them below.

I thought I was paying for insurance through them but I wasn't. Rebecca Hernandez said she'd still allow me to file a claim. During that conversation, I made her aware of my health ailments and the dilemma of finding a service to pay to go through my units in order to get pictures for the claim. I asked more than once if someone could meet me there to PHYSICALLY SEE the unsanitary health hazard conditions my units are in. Mice droppings carry MANY diseases, which means a biohazard service is COSTLY but SROA doesn't care that they're at fault for the conditions yet me as the customer would have to pay for something THEY caused. Still going through health ailments & recovery & now financial hardship, I reached out to inform them I cannot afford my units & asked AGAIN if an adjuster can PHYSICALLY meet me there. NASTY Rebecca H. said thats not the way it works. My response, & NEITHER does PAYING y'all to have my belongings filled w/MICE DROPPINGS! My units are up for auction. My health & surgeries were unforeseen but SROA KNOWS THEY HAVE MICE! They don't give a damn, which is why I contacted the Health Dept on them. I also contacted SROA president Bob Buffet, but he had Matt Phillips contact me instead. Dan Doyle advised me to reach out to NASTY Rebecca H. & Matt Phillips, once he left the area. Matt NEVER responded to the emails I sent him & NASTY Rebeeca H. He ONLY called me today because his BOSS evidently passed my info to him. As soon as Matt said his name, I mentioned how he NEVER responded to NOT ONE EMAIL I sent him and NASTY Rebecca. But that's acceptable right. It's also acceptable I dealt with a MAKE SHIFT BROKEN DOOR on the small unit for a LONG time, until they finally decided to MAKE SHIFT FIX it!

I also thought the service was a good value for the level of work they provided. What I especially appreciated was that they worked with me to find a solution when my plans changed. At one point, I was considering storing my belongings at their warehouse for less than a week. Rather than simply taking the additional business, they told me it did not make sense to move everything from the original location into warehouse storage for such a short period because it would unnecessarily increase my costs. That advice was one of the reasons I ultimately decided to use PODS instead. My moving needs did change at the last minute, which made the overall move more expensive than I had originally planned, but that was because of the changing logistics, not because they were trying to increase the price. I really appreciated that they were focused on helping me find the most practical and cost-effective solution. I would absolutely recommend them.

So I paid DOUBLE what I was expecting, which was already more than what was quoted cause I was adding a little buffer, but ended up tipping a whole additional person because I'm not a jerk. The guys were nice but inefficient. Kept saying this is what you get with a higher quality mover, but it was not even a better experience. They were wasteful with the amount of packing supplies they used, never presented or communicated the prices of the materials they were using, which I was told was included anyway but also others I never approved or asked for. Just popped it on me in the end. Oh and then they say "we are going to adjust your time by 15 min you'll see a refund on your card" and two and a half weeks later still waiting for it to even show pending at least. But you better believe the charge was instant. I was debating sharing my feedback but was so mad I finally emailed the company. But no one had even dignified me with not even an automated response, just silence. So I come here to do something I pretty much never do. But that's how annoyed I am. Sorry but would rather recommend. Cheap Movers, way better. I used last move were a thousand times better and a QUARTER of the price. I'm not even cheap but I hate being taken for a fool, and it turned out to be just that. That's what I get what I get for using hourly movers for the first time, never again. It's pretty convenient. Timing- they are punctual, even called a few minutes before they arrived to make me aware. They worked from the moment they walked into the door to once the last box was dropped. Covid- all three of the gentleman were wearing masks and conscious of social distancing. service- Ziggy, Dandre and Micheal were a trifecta, they are personable, hard working, and very careful. They each introduced themselves by name, we did a walk through, I explained a few things and they started. They even stopped to ask questions when they were unclear of anything. MS have such a great rhythm with each other and flow of what to move when. (I didn't get it, but I didn't need to.) I also appreciate how carefully they wrapped items, supported each other on the heavier or more difficult items, and kept going for hours. I was a little nervous about moving because this would be my first time using movers. I also needed movers who would move both mine and my fiancés apartment furniture. I was in contact with Mia throughout the entire process and she answered all my questions. It was a 3 man crew who arrived 15 min. earlier than the scheduled arrival window. They were super quick and efficient with moving all my boxes, disassembling my furniture, and wrapping my larger furniture with blankets. They then went to my fiancés apartment and was able to load everything from his place as well and get to our new apartment with all of our stuff. I did lose my step ladder and broom during the move but after calling the next day they were able to find and bring it that day. I was super appreciative of this. I would highly recommend using this company and would use in the future!

The whole move lasted well into the night because they hadn't adequately resourced my move. Regarding the damage to my furniture, I was told I would be reimbursed a certain amount, and I agreed. It was a fair offer. Then I got another written offer that was significantly below what was originally offered to me. The amount that was supposed to be reimbursed to me? Never received. As I unpack more boxes, I'm finding more damage and shoddy packing. I can no longer recommend this company.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!
