Twice now, I've accompanied an elderly friend to this location to ship boxes to her home in California. On both occasions, staff insisted that the box she was using was "not allowed," despite the fact that this was completely incorrect. The second time, I was present and challenged them directly. As soon as I did, they immediately backed down and changed their explanation, which made it clear that the issue wasn't policy but pressure. This feels like an attempt to take advantage of customers, particularly elderly ones, by pushing unnecessary repacking or purchases. Customer service was surly and dismissive throughout. Paid 40 dollars to ship something from DC to Richmond Va. Wasn't delivered on the promise date, was told that because it was a PO Box it was shipping through the post office. Had that been explained to me prior, I would have just shipped through the post office and not paid UPs any expedited fees. You know the phrase "you had one job", well UPS, you had one job and you failed. I can't tell myself what I did wrong in this process. Was it thinking that UPS would take care of my stuff, that it may be easier to pick it up from their store (to avoid package pirates), or was it just thinking that there was basic common sense? I still ask myself this and to my avail, no answer. I had a wedding present shipped from Portland to DC. Wedding presents can be sentimental. Well, the sentimentality was gone when it was blocked by Andrew, the UPS worker who denied our package. I am just confused. Isn't the purpose of a UPS store to ship and accept packages? I went to this UPS Store on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30pm and there was a very long line that wrapped around the corner. Two staff members were taking their time assisting customers while other UPS men and women took out hundreds of packages. The space itself is very small, but they do sell a few packing items like tape. I came to return an Amazon purchase. Once it was my turn, the staff member scanned the QR code and I was on my way. My experience was so bad. I sent some things to get printed out the day before via the website. They were menus for a friend's 30th birthday. I got an email stating that the printouts were ready for pick up. I head there - all for them to tell me that the printers are having issues. They hadn't even turned the printers on. They were so busy, and kept telling me to wait to see if they could start the printer up, so I wait. I was told to give them 10 minutes. After 10, I asked for an update, and the gentleman said again to wait - it may work. I wait 30 entire minutes for the man to tell me I should go and come back in a couple of hours. I just wish someone would have called me and told me that my printouts weren't ready before I left my house to come get them. Such a terrible experience. read more

Staff are efficient and professional, and this small storefront makes the most of its space, handling a lot of packages. The clerk who courteously provided one receipt for four returns said "anything less would be uncivilized!" That made me smile and brightened my day. I was in and out in less than one minute! I love the fact that UPS and the biggest online retailer allow you to return items. HOWEVER this location feels like a blame hazard. I suppose one can't control the real estate in the District but geez! There were boxes everywhere and trying to move around in addition to the crazy line was pretty difficult. While in line a worker came in and needed to load packages, I felt horrible for him because he barely had space to move. I rarely rate national chains but I think I should warn people to avoid this location , if items are expected by a certain time ...AVOID THIS LOCATION!!! Thank goodness for this UPS store, as there aren't many in the area. The actual shop is pretty small, and it gets extremely crowded when there is a line or when they have a ton of packages. During Christmas and Black Friday time the entire shop is absolutely covered with packages. They try to move you quickly and their service is good. I appreciate that there is often a notary working and they only charge $5 for their services, if you don't want to take a chance of them being there you can schedule an appointment online. Not the right UPS shop to come to if you are looking to buy a bunch of supplies as their retail selection is small. read more

Do * not * give * them * anything * valuable. I recommended this UPS store to my husband to ship his computer, monitor, and keyboard. I deeply regretted it after he sent a photo of the state of the keyboard at the destination. When the bubblewrap was removed from the shipped keyboard, 19 keys had been removed prior to packing it. These missing keys were shipped in the other box with his computer. Clearly someone had vandalized his property before wrapping and shipping it. Luckily, the computer still worked and the monitor only had some minor damage upon receipt. We'll be reporting this store to UPS. Bottom line, visit their competitor a couple of blocks away if you want your shipment to arrive without staff-afflicted damage. read more

I don't usually leave Yelp reviews, but I had such a horrific experience at this UPS Store that I felt compelled to warn others. Do not visit this UPS Store unless you want to work with a rude man who chastises his customers! I visited this UPS Store a week ago to have a document notarized. I walked in with my baby in a stroller and waited in line for about 10 minutes. When I got to the front of the line, I told the woman working there that I needed to have a document notarized. A man who worked there gave me an exasperated look, and told me that he was the notary but he was so busy, it would be at least 20 minutes - likely longer - until he could help. I decided to come back another day as he seemed very overwhelmed and flustered. I came back to try again today. I was finishing up a phone call while walking in the door and was having trouble getting my stroller across the bottom of the door frame. When I walked in, a kind woman told me to try going back first next time. While I was thanking her for her kind advice, the same exasperated man from the week before chimed in, saying to me, "or you could just pay attention to your baby and put your phone down." I was so astonished by the rude comment that I wanted to make sure I heard him correctly. I asked, "what did you say?" He repeated himself again, saying, "you should hang up your phone and actually pay attention to your baby." I was absolutely shocked by such a rude and unwarranted comment. When I got to the front of the line, I learned that the rude man was the notary and I was going to have to wait on him. When it was my turn, I politely asked him if he had children. He said yes, he had two children. I told him, "if you have children then you understand how hard it can be to be a parent." He responded by telling me, "it's not that hard because I always put my children first," implying that I didn't. I explained to him, with tears in my eyes, that I was on the phone with a family member regarding a recent death. He responded by digging his heels in even further, telling me that I could have at least put my family member on hold while trying to open the door, and how my baby could have fallen out of the stroller (my baby was harnessed into the stroller). I was so angry that I quickly ended the conversation and got out of there as quick as possible. I am still shocked that a complete stranger - nonetheless someone whom I was actually PAYING to notarize a document for me - would be so rude!!! Not only did did he make a rude and unwarranted comment, but then he doubled down by making me feel even worse, even as I was very visibly upset with tears in my eyes, explaining that I had just learned of a tragic death. Is this how UPS Store employees are trained to treat their customers? I will NEVER visit this UPS Store again!!! read more

This was my first time coming to this store and experienced the worst customer service. Also, experienced racism. I understand policies and why they are in place. Let me start from as soon as I walked in the door. The two representatives did not greet any customers that came in the door. While standing in line the first representative by the name of Priscilla was very rude with her comment and gesture on the prepaid labels. When I informed her that I have a prepaid label, however the bag was not sealed.... I received well it's an out policy the bag needs to be sealed. When I informed her that the emailed I received said just bring the items and my QR code. She again showed no concern. When I waited in line I observed Priscilla go above and beyond for a white couple and cater to their every need. So my question is why couldn't I receive that same level of customer service being a black woman. When I asked for her name and customer service number, her colleague made a statements of why she gotta do all that, it's a Monday for you, etc just negative comments.... As if I can not hear. I am tired of going into business that I spend my money in to receive service like this just because of the color of my skin. read more

Young guy working there today told me it would cost FIVE DOLLARS to print one piece of black and white paper, which was a UPS shipping label, prepaid. Never have I been charged previously, but they advertise 0.15 or so a page just like FedEx, the library, etc. This is a UPS location to avoid! To add insult to injury the same guy handed me a receipt printed on a sticker label once I returned. Wait, you're telling me you hand those out for free, which go right in the trash, but a simple piece of paper costs $5??? They had me walk a few blocks to FedEx in the pouring rain with my 2 babies, stroller, package in tow. Completely ridiculous. The UPS store downtown DC is the opposite experience--they are overly helpful, print labels, offer tape, lend a hand, etc. I'm laughing at owner's replies/excuses for poor service here! We used the Pack-n-Ship to send an antique oak chest to a craftsman for interior lining. The chest arrived badly damaged; it was only lightly wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap with no other cushioning. The store manager refused to honor the insurance, despite pictures from the recipient of both the damage and the superficial packing job. There are other Pack-n-Ship stores nearby with better reputations and more competent service. Have already used a range of services from getting a passport (they do passport photos!) to dropping off Amazon items for return (they pack them!) to the usual shipping...& the odd emergency office supply purchase. The staff is helpful and efficient, couldn't be more pleasant and accommodating. Outstanding addition to the hood! And they observe all Covid rules, so feel comfortable doing business there. read more
