The guys (Allan & Oliver) at this extra space storage really spell out what superb customer service and facility management should look like. I used this facility during my apartment moving process and it was such a pleasure to have an easy, clear, and quick registration process and an even faster check out. Their promotions are legitimate and straightforward. The staff are incredibly friendly and eager to help. Though the location isn't in the safest part of town, it is in great proximity to downtown and the neighboring southern SF districts too and the staff manage to keep it feeling very safe and secure. The facilities are clean and well kept as well. The site has moving carts free for use and sells basically any extra moving amenity you might need right in the office. This is a wonderful place to solve storage needs, very highly recommended! read more

We rented a 10x20 unit in Kansas City. Initial cost was $130. I noticed they could raise raise the rates as much as they want. I asked and was told it would be 5% to 6% every six months. After less than six months the rate was raised to $182, a 40% increase. Called and asked why such a large increase, especially in a year like 2020. I got nowhere. Very nice and friendly staff with no authority to help with the huge increase. read more

We reserved the storage space and are very happy with it. Oliver is very helpful and friendly. He knows this business very well and offered to extend the hours to enter for us when we needed it and I did not even realize and did not ask for it. Thank you Oliver for all the advise and help that you provided to us. read more

This is a review for Oliver. Thanks for always helping me and answering my questions in a timely manner! Have no complaints at all. Everything's been transparent and super easy from the beginning. read more

I have never dealt with employees in a business nicer or more helpful than they are as Extra Storage. Amy and Steve are willing to assist all they can (considering Covid restrictions) and are fun in the process. The storage is very clean and well maintained. Their prices are fair. It's refreshing to come here. read more

Oliver is amazing! He has helped me so much when I had an emergency and needed storage immediately. He is personable, accommodating, positive, and a really nice guy. My items feel safe at Extra Space Storage and Oliver keeps everything running smoothly. read more

* I rent a 5x5 ft space (all measurements are approximate). I know that my belongings will fit in a 4.75 ft x 4.75 ft unit * My belongings don't fit in the unit. I measure the unit, it's is 4.5 ft and 4 ft and 1 inch. * And here is the question... what does approximate mean? To me, 1 foot of difference in a 5ft unit is a huge difference. * The only solution I'm offered is to get a bigger unit at a higher price. * I get a bigger unit and pay a higher price. * I file a complain with the customer department on 8/16. I was told that customer department would contact me in 48 hours * They never contacted me * I call customer support again. They tell me that I will get a phone call in 48 hours. * They never call. * Now I file this review on BBB and on Yelp. read more

The good: very clean building, well-lit, lots of size options, always easy to find a cart to haul your things, easy elevator access, never too busy there. The bad: I have had my items in a 5 x 7 locker for a year now and they have already increased my rental fee.. TWICE! Once was just a few months after I started, and the second time was at my year anniversary. The price has gone up about 25% already. Had they told me up front that the price was variable and could change on a whim, I wouldn't have placed my items in this facility. read more

I can't believe I'm so moved to write a review for a storage space, but Oliver has made renting a space there so easy and enjoyable. He even helped us move to a smaller space when we downsized and gave us a great deal! read more

Overall I was very impressed. We stored all of our stuff for a 6 month extended trip and compared quite a few storage places and this one came out on top. What I like: -Clean -Well-lit (It's kinda scary to be in a huge dark storage facility alone) -Great security: individual alarms/key codes for each person/unit -Gated -Extremely nice & responsive staff -Decently priced read more

Have you ever needed to rent a truck at U-Haul in San Francisco? You kind of dread it, as the staff always appears to be bothered to help you and the rental facility always seems to be full of down and out types. Well, I'm not renting a truck at Extra Space Storage, but I had just the opposite experience today when I went in to inquire about rates - rental trucks and storage spaces seem to go hand in hand. Talk about a clean facility! Secure and well lit and a very professional staff manage this new location just off the freeway. Plenty of parking is available inside the building, but you need an access code enter and street parking is limited in the area, but not impossible. I have not yet compared rates with other facilities in San Francisco, but they were a touch higher than my current storage room in Southern California, however, I am taking into consideration that this facility is in The City and not in the middle of the desert. read more

I keep meaning to finally write a review instead of preying on everyone else's, and Extra-Space Storage was what finally got me to get off my ass and write something. It has everything you want in a storage facility: - Super-friendly and accomodative management - Secure (you get a unique code that you have to use to get into the parking garage, then again at the elevator, then again to get out, not to mention the badass lock they give you... to keep!) - CLEAN - Spacious elevators, and lots of dollies/handcarts lying around for your use, plus a big truck you can check out to move your stuff (free) - Way less expensive than Public Storage. I don't really understand how PS can stay in business with Extra-Space charging half as much (at least it was half as much for me). read more

Not sure you can beat their prices, their cleanliness and generally professional staff. We used this place as an 'in between' between moves for a few months and were quite happy. It's well lit, easy to get in and out of, secure and the prices were more reasonable than anything else we could find in the city...Carts are available for easy use too. If there are improvements to be made, I'd suggest that 7PM is a bit early to have their gate close (Cannot access your units after this time)...I think a washroom outside of the office area and somewhere in the main garage would be useful....And, lastly, while there is great lighting most of the place there are no lights within units...I think perhaps motion sensor lights within the units wouldn't be such a bad idea. read more

I give this place five stars based on my interaction with Lakeisha (sorry if I butchered the name). I was moving from out of town and had reserved a place at the Folsom Street facility. That facility was a disaster. Keisha saved my bacon: she set me up with a new storage room with no hassle, she helped manage my out-of-town movers when they got to the facility, she transferred the monies I paid at Folsom street and cancelled out my obligations at that facility. She was extremely positive and professional. This facility is also what you want in a long-term self-storage facility. Clean, well lit, new and (as noted above) with an outstanding staff. I give this place two thumbs up and five starts! read more

The staff is wonderful.... they helped to make a difficult situation move with ease..... I would go back in a minute if I needed storage. They explained every point of the contract, no question went unanswered... Altogether a very positive experience for us! read more

Good simple and easy place, would recommend Oliver is extremely helpful!! I lost my keys to my storage unit and was able to get it opened in the morning thanks to him! read more

We ended up at this Extra Space after completely unloading a truck of (my mom's) furniture at the Public Storage down the street and then getting very sketchy and unsafe vibes (felt like it would all be taken by the next day). We repacked it all, hid the truck for the night and promptly went to Extra Space the next day. Flash forward three years and our time there has ended but part of the reason why it lasted so long was because of how safe, clean and easy they make things. Oliver and Alex are extremely patient, accommodating and customer-service oriented and are backed by a national company that also seems committed to customer service. If we ever need a storage space again, there's no question that this would be our go-to spot. read more

I looked at one other storage space nearby which was cheaper but yucky dirty. Another one didn't have the size I wanted so I didn't look at any units. I phoned Extra Space storage from my car, got the main office in Salt Lake City, and the guy told me the Cesar Chavez location had the size I wanted (5x7), and could even give it to me at the cut rate of $117! I went over to the office and made the deal. The office folks are very nice and professional. The facility is very secure and clean. It's my first storage space experience and I've been quite happy with it (though wish it stayed open later than 7 pm for access). My only complaint, and perhaps I would give half a star back if i could, is that after 4 months they raised the rate to $134. Of course I should have read the fine print that says they can raise your rate at any time... read more

Just cleared out a unit that we had for a couple years. The manager Oliver is the man. He is professional, charismatic, and a stand up dude. I love Extra Space Storage. Clean and professional. I've been renting here since 2010. The customer service that Oliver and Ella provide is above and beyond expectations (e.g., after using storage for over 20 years, I would never use "clean and professional" to describe any other storage company). 5 Stars well deserved! read more

They raised my rent by 67% from the month before. They told me that the rent fluctuates from month to month. I do not recommend renting from them, and when I asked to talk to manager they had the district lead call me. They are so unprofessional handling their problems. read more

Great place! I'm a costumer for almost 4 years and it's perfect. Good price, very clean and safe. Oliver, the manager, is awesome. I really recommend this storage. read more

Scam. I have reported to better business bureau. Raises rents 50% a year after you move your stuff in. Then when you set up auto pay they don'r run and charge fees every month. They don't respond to complaints and are arrogant and rude when you ask questions about the scam fraud they are running. NEVER ever store your items with these frauds. read more

Thank you Oliver for you service on this storage, all the times is very clean, this is very safe on gate elevadores need code.

The managerial team including Kaleb, who helped me, were genuinely friendly and pros. I felt safe and welcomed. The building is immaculate, at the 58 west 143rd street location . It is an emotional time for me, so this was just what I needed. read more

I've had a great experience with Extra Storage Space, so far. Oliver and Allan have been very professional and courteous in coordinating and accommodating my storage needs. They made the process very easy. I looked at four other storage businesses and Extra Storage Space is by far, the best I've seen. The building is extremely secure and clean. The location is perfect and very easy to access. Five stars for great staff, location, security and cleanliness. read more

Former and current client! Service and staff are understanding of needs. I got a tour of potential storage rooms for my weight equipment, found a sweet spot and the pricing for my budget didn't break the bank. Lastly, the security is very tight. My only hangup is an inconvenient mix-up where I didn't have a lock (my fault) when I picked the room, and when I came back with my stuff I still didn't have one and the facility lock was on. Luckily everything was resolved. I would recommend this facility. read more

Oliver is very helpful and has been in the past. My father has been a customer here for some years now. However, since the closure of the other storages nearby, many customers have come here and I've noticed the rates have gone up. Today, I was not too happy with my customer service with a man that was the Assistant Manager of this place. He did not do much in helping me get a better rate nor would make me want to stay at this company. I was happier at my old storage on Egbert; however, they are no longer there, unfortunately! they had the best customer service and they always did anything to make sure their customers were happy. sadly, I won't be staying at this place. In the past, I've worked in the customer service industry and with big companies and wealthy clients ...and great customer service is a must for me!!! I always want to make sure my clients and customers are happy before they leave. and if not, I will make sure to accommodate them and not let them leave until they are happy...that is what good customer service is all about...regardless of the error it will be fixed ... read more

As I peruse the other reviews to see what reasons people who give a one star have, I notice that most of them are for either a different location or because they didn't read their contract etc. So the 1 star reviews are not necessarily for this location. Storage in the city is expensive. Just like everything else. I actually had a space in this location for over 2 years. They were always really nice and the facility is so clean it's not even in the same league as other storage spaces which are often dirty and run down. My review is for the Extra Space storage on Cesar Chavez just past Bayshore. I am writing this review mostly about the wonderful staff at this location. Oliver and Ella are friendly, and helpful even to a person like me who doesn't have a storage space, but is simply coming in to charge my electric car. They are always gracious about letting me in. The charger is always in perfect working order. They move their cars from the charger spot if needed. I don't know who makes the decision to install electric car chargers at the storage spaces but there is more than one Extra Storage Space with a charger. This helps EV drivers so much! I really appreciate the forethought and effort and expense to put these chargers in. Not every Extra Space storage facility is so helpful to non customers. Thanks Extra Space for making it easier to charge my car when I need it, for making it free, and at the Cesar Chavez location, for the folks there who always help and are always polite and professional. If I ever need a storage space again I know where I will go. read more

I have noticed that most of the folks who have posted positive reviews only had their belongings stored for around a six month time period. My wife and I have a blended household but did not want to get rid of may of our items. We have stored our furniture etc. at this location for almost three years. in that time we have had the rent raised four times. The accumulated rate of increase is 60%!. We went from paying $203 to now paying $333. Same unit, same service etc. That is a 20% increase per year. Outrageous. Lesson here is if you are only looking for a temporary unit, this might be an ok location. For longer term, look somewhere else. read more

This place is amazing! It's clean and the staff are warm, kind and very professional. The elevator works well unlike the other storage facilities I had rented in the past. DO NOT USE! seriously your Sh*t is safer on the streets of SF than in this place! My unit was broken into, and those creepy f-tards refused to do anything about it, even with multiple complains and emails/calls to their customer service. Like tons of my stuff was stolen. Also, they seem to have a seriously MAJOR rodent problem and a bunch of my stuff, the stuff that wasn't stolen, had serious rodent damage...... seriously, this place blows. read more
