Do not use this service if you have anything worth taking. They helped us pack and stored everything for 10 months and they didn't return valuable items. I'm missing 3 Brooks brothers suits worth $2000 each, missing all my kids' original Nintendo stuffed animals worth hundreds of dollars in total and large pieces of furniture and glassware. How can large furniture pieces be missing unless they were taken? We've filed multiple claims over a few months so far and they simply denied all our claims with the explanation that these items were self packed, even when records show we paid them for two days of labor for packing. Everybody needs to know these people are not honest and should not be dealing with other people's valuables. read more

I will never ever ever work with Clutter again. Their pricing model is very dishonest and misleading. They'll put limited information on the website and even in the pricing quote and change it later verbally. They sell an easy, streamlined process online but it's very different in person. With the standard package, you're led to believe that you can pack your items and they'll move them. Instead, I was told EVERYTHING, every single thing (even floor lamps) had to be put in a box (and they won't take the light bulbs). Having packed to my own standards, I used all my packing supplies already. I then had to upgrade to the next tier so that they could use their own packing supplies to put my free-standing items in their boxes. Then, when I was ready to have my items delivered I purchased the premium package which included reassembly; only to be told that reassembly, surpriseeee, actually somehow is not included. I was pushed to their claims department for the discrepancy. I also asked where this information was stated on the website. No direct response. I will not be dealing with them internally; I will be going straight to the BBB. read more

Stay away from Clutter unless you like pain! I wish I could give -100 stars to Clutter. I'm a bit nomadic, so I move a lot and know no move is perfect. However I have never, ever, never had to deal with the amount of problems that came with hiring Clutter. On my move day, only 2 or the 3 movers showed up. Since they were short staffed they couldn't finish my move that day. The movers said they would come back the next day. I said ok, because I had built in an extra day wiggle room. However, after the movers left with part of my belonging I got a call from Clutter saying they couldn't come back for 2 more days. I had to be out of my apartment and had a trip booked so I had no choice but to call another moving company to finish the move and put the remained of my belongings in a local storage facility. On several occasions I tried to have Clutter come pick up my belongings from the local storage and add them to my belongings at Clutter. There was always an issue, so getting my belongs to one place never happened. I ended up paying an additional $1500 ( 5 months) for the local storage company. Then when it was time to move my things out of storage I incurred an additional charge of $500 from my long distance moving company because I had two separate pickup locations. Also, Clutter charges you if you have a moving service pick up your things from them $450. Stay away from this company. Just go with a local service. Again, moving is stressful but Clutter will have you clutching your chest and on the ground shaving a massive heart attack. read more

Do not use this company. Everything started out great. Our stuff was picked up efficiently and we've been paying customers with Clutter since April 2023. We've relocated away from the Bay Area and would like to relocate our 10x20 storage unit (that has practically EVERYTHING we own in it) with the help of a mover we hired. Clutter requires you to make an appointment to move out of your storage unit. When I went to request an appointment that worked for our mover, we were shocked to discover that every single day until January is a "waitlist" appointment, meaning you are only given 48 hours notice if you have the appointment to arrange your moving. This is not going to work for us, as we are working on a cross-country move and 48 hours notice is simply not enough. At this point, it appears as though Clutter is holding our property hostage. We have determined no other way to receive our things than just sit and wait. This is completely unacceptable and I can see that others are dealing with the same. What I find more interesting is that Clutter WILL deliver all of our items and has two open days next week to do so... strange. Seems like a money-grab to me. Do not store with this company if you value your things or want to get them back. There's also no way to contact this company directly -- you cannot contact your location where things are being stored. It all goes through a customer support line that doesn't seem to have the full information. Thanks Clutter, today we got denied a refund of $65 (not even compensation for all the extra money I had to pay on my own), so you charged us anyway without delivering any service. I would leave far leas than one star. They stole THOUSANDS of dollars of property - they scan bins but while storaged in a warehouse they literally went through my property and stole thousands of dollars of property which I cannot prove. Bad on me for trusting them. They also moved locations from SF to Tracy without notifying me. I discover missing items as I go along and realize what I am missing. I attempted to file a claim and the smarmy girl just denied knowing I had no claim - how do you claim without itemizing everything single thing they pack? Shame on me. The promise of resembling my bedframe was not accomplished. Not only did a pay a high fee to dissemble my bedframe, the onsite workers dissembled my bed to the point of it being unrecognizable when my storage unit had space. Karan a member of Clutter team said the team would reassemble anything they dissemble (if they do not need power tools.) My bedframe did not need power tools. I am a local teacher and I had only so much time and money to relocate my housing. I trusted clutter because they promised they would make that process easier. I have never used a moving company, I trusted clutter as they promised to fulfill the promise of resembling a furniture piece they dissembled. The onsite workers were at my apartment for 35 minutes when I have 2 hours of included service. I was shown texts from their boss saying to not assemble the bed because they need to make their other appointments. This was very dishonest. Now I need to find someone and spend hundreds of dollars to get my bedframe rebuilt. I called to complain and was redirected to an online claim. My claim was denied. I emailed and again and am waiting for a response. I will never recommend clutter. I will continue to let everyone know in the Bay Area that this company can not be trusted. read more

Updating my review to respond to the managers response that I would get a call from customer care, which I did. She asked about my experience and I politely told her what happened. Her response was pretty much saying "sorry, not sorry". Again, noting that they can change their policies at will. Directly on its website it notes free pick up and delivery! All the call did was to annoy me, take up time and get me mad again. DEFINITELY WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN! Original post: When "Clutter" took over "Save Space" they proceeded to raise the prices quite a bit and somehow missed the "GOOD WILL" portion of the purchase. One main reason I used the company was that they offered free pick-up and delivery. The "Free Delivery" seemed to have gone away and when I called, they said that they have the right to change their policy at will. Knowing that this can happen, I wouldn't use them. The movers disabled the building's elevator by placing tape over all the sensors on each floor, left garbage on multiple floors, and several items were broken. Clutter offered $70. There is no customer service except from the initial sales call to book a move. Called customer service several times - each lacking a reasonable response. 8 neighbors complained about the movers, the garbage, and disabling the elevator for hours into the night. Terrible response from the company - no responsibility. Going to small claims for the first time ever! TLDR: BEWARE! THIS COMPANY IS DISHONEST, LIES, AND SCAMS ITS CUSTOMERS: They deliberately delay and make up stories to slow walk a one day move to two days and then charge you extra for a two day move. This was the WORST moving experience we have ever had. On top of this dishonest service, they damaged multiple items, literally disappeared with half our stuff overnight (technically theft), and then has the audacity to say everything they did was valid and we should be charged for a two day move. Long Version: Clutter arrived at our apartment in San Francisco. The team was immediately unprofessional by claiming that moving our average sized two bedroom apartment will be a 2 day job, which is complete nonsense. It became very obvious the Clutter team did not want to do the work and was more interested in running out the clock. The Clutter team told us to pack the remaining items ourselves otherwise we will not make the move in a single day. A completely dishonest statement and service we paid for was not provided. We packed the remaining items ourselves and we got the team out of our apartment and completely loaded on the truck, within 3 HOURS. (So much for a two day move) Despite our efforts, the Clutter movers were extremely slow in moving out the other pieces of furniture and boxes while we packed our own items. The travel time from our old apartment to our new apartment is 15 mins maximum by car, within San Francisco. The Clutter team took over 1 hour to arrive. Once they arrived they sat in the truck and wasted time before coming up with the first set of items. At this time, the dishonesty of this Clutter team became even more apparent. They claimed that the freight elevator reserved for the move was unsafe and refused to continue. The building is a full service high rise building in San Francisco. The building front desk, maintenance, and management all checked and inspected the elevator and refuted the Clutter movers claims that there was something wrong with the elevator. At this time, many residents, building maintenance people, and myself rode the elevator with no issue. The Clutter team still refused to move and sat in the lobby of the building for over 2 hours (which we are being charged for). During these two hours, we called Clutter's customer service multiple times to get to some sort of resolution, all while the Clutter moving team sat around and relaxed in the building lobby. Clutter's customer service assured us they would finish the move that day even if the time was extended. Finally the building management padded another elevator to expedite the move and try to accommodate the Clutter team's unreasonable claims. The Clutter team finally started moving again. The Clutter team made two runs up to the apartment at an extremely slow pace. Then, with no warning, message, or indication to us, the Clutter team just took off, with half or our items still in the truck!! We had no idea they even left and we kept patiently waiting in our apartment for them to come up and complete the move. We were told by our building rep that the Clutter team claimed the move was done and they were leaving. CLUTTER NEVER TOLD US! THEY STILL HAD HALF A TRUCK OF OUR ITEMS. THE CLUTTER TEAM TECHNICALLY COMMITTED THEFT. Clutter's customer service line was closed for the day. All we had was an update online that said our move may commence the next day. Our building does not allow moving on Sundays. We were left in limbo. Only the next morning on Sunday did we finally connect with Clutter's customer service team to find out what was going on. Clutter's own customer service team couldn't tell us for sure if a truck was coming and if it had our remaining items. We had to plead with our building to make an exception for moving on Sunday, since that was not allowed. They accepted and then the Clutter team arrived after almost going to the wrong apartment to complete the move. The new team came and completed the move, using the same "malfunctioning" elevator with no issue. It was clear we were being scammed by this company. On top of all of this, the Clutter team damaged multiple furniture items. Then I received Clutter's bill, which charges me for a two day move. We filed a claim with Clutter and they have done nothing to fix this situation and maintain their lies were valid. The Building has refuted their claims and provided documentary evidence that there were no issues with their elevators. Clutter still maintains they can charge this fraudulent amount. This company is unethical and are liars. Future movers beware. read more

Instead, we were left with a significant financial loss and no meaningful recourse. A $1,300 loss with an $80 payout is indefensible, and customers deserve better transparency and protection. I was supposed to move today due to the unit being uninhabitable. I signed up for a 6 hour move and willing to pay the hourly. Movers showed up and said they only had three hours. I explained the situation. My stuff needed to be moved. Movers manager said they would return another day. That was not an option. I was given the option to cancel which I did and I was charged a 200.00 cancellation fee. The mover would not call his manager back and told me to call the 800#. i can NOT recommend I was excited to use Clutter to store my furniture for 1 year while my husband and I traveled. Unfortunately we had a horrible experience. The movers arrived and wrapped up all our furniture for storage except for a large dresser. They came downstairs and informed us they could not transport or store the item because it was too big. We were moving out of the house the following day so we needed the item to be moved. 1 month prior to moving I sent measurements and photos of ALL items to the company. In addition I spoke to office and confirmed all details of the move and storage. When I stated this to the movers they replied that the office does not know what they are doing and just tells the customer what they want to hear The movers told me they needed additional help to move the item and that the office had no one available. Lucky for us our neighbors were moving as well and thier movers said they would come help. Our movers then stated that they would not work with the other movers and would not help. So our neighbors movers moved the dresser downstairs. This is when our movers stated that they were insulted and left. Yes they just left. We called the office and were told that the dresser was dangerous for the movers and therefore they could not move or store our items We had less than 24 hours to find new movers and storage for our furniture. We stored a room's worth of furniture, and after our items were returned this weekend, I know that I would be better off if I had just taken a sledgehammer to my chair 2 years ago and saved on the cost of storage. I'm a huge fan of Clutter storage. To be honest though, I have never used them for moving an and I don't know if I would. For storage, however, I think they're fantastic. they're very easy to work with and the concept is great. I can get my stuff delivered to me or send more stuff to my storage unit. they're way less expensive on a monthly basis than a local storage, by almost half, and I don't have to hire movers every time I want to get things from my storage unit. If you have expensive furniture or property, DO NOT MOVE WITH CLUTTER unless you want your house and your furniture damaged with zero accountability. Clutter damaged our expensive furniture and our recently refinished floors in our new house during the move. The movers even accepted fault and apologized for the damage and we watched them upload the photos of the damages to the internal Clutter portal. The movers asked us to follow up with Clutter in addition so there's matching documentation of the damage + they mentioned Clutter won't resolve issues proactively unless customers filed a claim. I filed a claim and escalated the claim, and was immediately rejected. When I asked the customer service representative if they saw the pictures the movers uploaded as well, they said they don't check internal logs. In addition to the damages done to our furniture and new house, Clutter movers handled our furniture poorly. I told them multiple times to be more careful and it was ignored. Our mattress was bent and our bed frame was set up uneven. Lastly, it took us many back and forth to land on a COI that was accepted by our building. Logistical nightmare + unrepairable damages to furniture + damages to your new home, I would AVOID CLUTTER AT ALL COST. read more

Additionally, other items that they first tried to say were damaged and then tried everything not to deliver them at all. I used Clutter years ago for a small 5x5 storage unit and was initially impressed with their user interface, delivery system, and the overall ease of use. I even recommended them to friends and family. Unfortunately, my recent experience was a complete disaster from start to finish. I hired Clutter again before leaving the country for a sabbatical. They showed up with only two movers for a large move, took long breaks, and couldn't complete the job. Despite offering to pay extra to hire or overtime more help, I was told that wasn't allowed and I'd need to reschedule--an impossible option, as I was flying out and giving up my apartment the next day. I ended up spending $1,000 out of pocket to move everything to a storage unit the very next day (finished 3 hours before my flight) so Clutter could pick it up from there, which they had agreed to. I left detailed instructions, made myself reachable internationally (phone, text, email, whatsapp, facetime, even my second phone), and got confirmation that I didn't need to be onsite. No one contacted me the day of pickup, yet I was charged a $200 cancellation fee. When I called to dispute it, they claimed they tried to reach me (they didn't) and refused to refund anything. The second attempt wasn't better. I appointed a family member as the point of contact and again confirmed that no one needed to be onsite. On the day of pickup, Clutter claimed they didn't have the gate code, lock combo, or unit number--we provided this over the phone. They were successfully and had even already opened the unit but then suddenly changed course and demanded someone be there physically or else they would cancel and I would be charged $200 again. I spoke to customer service while this was occurring and they said my two other separate colleagues were wrong, we need someone there now. My family member had to rush over and ended up helping move the items himself because the movers were essentially doing nothing. After weeks of stress, disorganization, poor communication, and unhelpful customer service (outsourced and seemingly disconnected), my belongings were finally stored. But the emotional toll, wasted time, and hidden costs were staggering. Bottom line: Clutter might seem cheaper up front, but the chaos, unreliability, and lack of accountability will cost you far more in the long run. What used to be an innovative service is now a disjointed, empathy-less mess. I will never use this company again and strongly advise others to stay far away. Poor labelling of items is a big issue. We ended up accidentally tossing some valuable pictures and memory books because the items were mislabeled in the box. I also do not appreciate how difficult it was to retrieve my items from storage. The fact that there was such a high cost to get a few of my items out of storage AND the option to pick up my own items directly from that facility was actually more expensive than the expensive delivery option made me feel like I was being scammed. I would only recommend Clutter to someone who is in a truly desperate situation, and only if they have items that they don't particularly care to see or have access to. Otherwise, it is just easier, less predatory, and less expensive to hire a standard moving company to pack up all your things for you and store them in a more traditional facility. read more

They promised me 3 people to do the move - and after I booked, I was informed that only one - two people will do the move - further they informed me that the move could be broken into multiple days and the billing rate for the subsequent day will be $330 per hour !!! They weren't able to finish packing. Then they told me to bring the rest (what they couldn't pack) into another storage so they could pick it up and merge. They never picked it up, I ended up having to pay for both storages. The costumer service number is a nightmare, people are not on site and can't even reach the movers directly. They keep telling us they left notes for their movers to pick up but the movers always show up saying they got nothing. They offered us no type of solution.
