I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

Charm City Movers was professional from start to finish. I completed a Moving Quote Request on a Saturday, and they called me on Monday with some questions. Andrew was very friendly and professional. My move included moving furniture from White Marsh to Mount Washington, with a stop in Timonium to drop off and pick up more items. A three stop move with lots of stairs at each location was quoted at $750. This was reasonable since I had anticipated spending about $1,000. Their window for a Friday move date was between 10-12. They called when they were about 20 minutes away and met me promptly at 10 AM. Four guys in a huge truck arrived and got right to work. Within half an hour we were on our way to the second stop to drop off a bed and retrieve the rest of the furniture. Off we went to the third and final stop to unload everything. I was nervous about large items fitting up a narrow stairwell, but the guys assured me that if I had measured right, they would have it all fitting in the apartment in no time. That they did. When everything was unloaded, the driver went over the listed items and made sure everything on the list had been moved and put in the apartment. The price quoted was the price I paid, and they were done in exactly two hours. Their online tool made it easy to get an initial estimate without an in‑home visit, and Dasha (and sometimes Lilith) answered all my questions over the following weeks. A month later, when I was ready for an in‑person assessment, they honored my original quote even though my inventory had changed (many more smaller boxes, one less big piece of furniture). They visited on a Thursday and scheduled pickup for the next Tuesday. A team of three loaded everything in under two hours (right after Winter Storm Fern). I arrived in Seattle on Saturday, and the driver called 15 minutes after I had picked up my keys from the leasing office (I am not kidding). Despite my building having no loading dock, he found a workable spot, unloaded everything, and rebuilt my furniture solo in about 4.5 hours total. The original delivery window was up to two weeks, so four days was beyond anything I expected. I'm incredibly impressed and highly recommend DC Moving Inc for long‑distance moves.

The company sent 4 guys to my house to move my stuff to two different locations. They arrived on time, introduced themselves and got right to moving things into the truck. They handled all of my furniture and boxes with great care. They were very efficient which I very much appreciated since this was an hourly rate move. During the move, all of the guys were friendly and very easy to work with. They asked questions to be sure they were getting things on the truck to go to the right place. There was not a single moment of worry or stress during the entire move. At one point, the Company owner and one of the managers stopped in to do a spot check and see how everything was going. I was very impressed that they took the time to do this and that they were genuinely interested in how the move was going. The second stop of this move was to a storage unit. That storage unit is perfectly organized - I've never seen a storage unit so impeccably arranged. I can easily see and get to all of my stuff! Overall, this company did a fabulous job for me. I am doing the second stage of this move shortly and have no qualms whatsoever about using Two Men and a Truck for that move as well. In fact, I am looking forward to it. Who'd have thought? My paperwork listed Crofton, MD, but the individual I spoke with over the phone said they just have their Red Branch location now, so I assumed that's where they'd be coming from. I wouldn't trust any/either of the Maryland locations at all though. I booked a move roughly two weeks ago. A SMALL, very SIMPLE move. Just about 1 bedroom worth of stuff to a studio apartment 30 mins away (Dundalk to Towson). I spoke with Chantel on the phone and she was relatively nice and helpful. I paid a $100 deposit. As the move approached I received numerous calls, voicemails and texts to confirm my move. I confirmed with them over the phone. My new building is a high rise and I had to reserve a loading dock and freight elevator and the reservations are 3-hour time blocks. I blocked off 11am-2pm at the loading dock, informed the movers of this, and they assured me they would be at my place to begin the move between 8:30 and 10am-ish. At 9am I got a call from Two Men and the guy said he wanted to be "really transparent with me" and informed me that he had a "bunch of guys with the flu called out sick" and he would be unable to perform my move today. He asked if I could reschedule my move for 4 DAYS LATER on CHRISTMAS EVE. Are you fucking kidding me??! All my belongings were in boxes, I had slept on the couch because I took apart my bed and moved my mattress (in order to make the move easier for the movers), and I had nowhere to sleep for another 4 nights, nor any clothes, shower items, etc because everything was IN BOXES READY TO MOVE. What the hell?! I had this reservation for 2 weeks!! He then said he could do it tomorrow (so somehow he went from "I can do this 4 days from now" to "I can do this tomorrow" ??). He said he'd do it at a discount. I asked how large of a discount? He said he couldn't tell me LOL Are you kidding me? You're offering me a discount but can't tell me how much, what a joke. Unacceptable. At that point I was 1) running late to my loading dock reservation time, 2) very upset and angry, and 3) had a VERY bad feeling about these movers and no longer trusted anything they said or had to offer me. It was so obvious they were lying blatantly to my face lmao They really think I'm fucking stupid. I don't believe for one second that "all your guys are sick." Boo fucking hoo. Not my problem. Hire more employees so you can cover for the ones who are out sick. I am PAYING YOU to do YOUR JOB! How do I even know your guys are "sick" for real. I doubt they're even actually sick. They were probably just out late drinking the previous night or whatever and called in "sick." Whether they're sick or not is not the point. To be clear: my PREGNANT best friend (who can't lift heavy objects at the moment) was more helpful than these ""two men."" Thanks to my friend's help, I completed my move without this shitty company, and I also got my deposit back (after my friend advocated for me and demanded it back). DO NOT HIRE. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE LIE TO YOU. DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY. DO NOT TRUST. I truly don't understand how they can expect people to simply reschedule a move the day of. A move is a pre-planned, pre-arranged ordeal. I don't need to explain this but many moves have a time constraint: my time constraint was just a loading dock, but often times people absolutely HAVE to have all their belongings out of a place by a certain day and time or their stuff could simply be thrown in the street. Sometimes emergencies happen and people have to move out FAST (for safety reasons, for their kids, so they can start a new job right away, etc). I'm lucky I wasn't currently in a situation like that, but it's unacceptable for a moving company to cancel on you last minute or not show up when your whole life revolves around your move and your housing situation. I am ultimately so glad these people never touched any of my belongings. My friends and I used our collective strength, motivation, savvy, and hustle to complete my move with one platform dolly and 2 SUV's. I contacted three different companies through Yelp, but ultimately chose JFP Express because they were the only ones who provided an all-inclusive price with no hidden fees--unlike the other companies. I find it frustrating when businesses try to extract as much as they can from customers through various pretexts and dishonest practices. JFP Express, however, was honest and transparent from the start. Jason was very courteous and communicative, arranging everything seamlessly. He then stated that a customer service representative would contact us within the hour, but no one ever did. At 8:00 AM the following day, no one showed up. At 8:48 PM, I received a call from head mover, who said his crew was at another job and that he was assembling a new crew that would call in 15 to 20 minutes. We were just informed that the truck would be here at 10:30 am. This is completely unacceptable. Also, when calling their phone line, they did not answer when we selected the menu option for existing clients. They only answered when we selected the menu option for new clients. This is just in case you need to get through to them.
