It was Bookstore Movers' excellent customer service that earns them 5 stars. The 3 movers showed up early and worked very quickly and efficiently. In that haste, some items were damaged and I offered that feedback in the follow-up survey. I quickly received a call from the company offering to discount my move and send Walter Davies, a furniture repair person, out to make furniture repairs. That concern for customers and making things right earns Bookstore Movers 5-star service. Walter Davies was excellent and thorough in repairing my furniture. If you have a move coming up, call Bookstore Movers. Lisa C.

We were disappointed with our recent experience with Bookstore Movers. The crew was polite, but the…read moremove felt much slower and less efficient than it should have been. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

I'm a 70 yr old, super anal, perfectionist (a big fault of mine, and I try my best to not be as…read morepicky), and after spending likely more than a dozen hours over the course of a few weeks doing online research on moving companies (Hey, my life belongings were going to be moved!), I reluctantly (due to past moving nightmares) called Your Moving Men, was impressed, and the moving date was set. Day of the move, I received 2 texts letting me know how far/close they were to my home. Vlad and Alex arrived on time. Never in my life have I ever been so impressed with the work done for me, and the care that they gave all of my belongings. They were intelligent, motivated, efficient, careful, personable, respectful, and expert. And, although at first, I tried to help, I soon became aware that I was just getting in their way. All I could do is watch and learn. How to wrap and protect furniture (and walls). How to load a dozen or more packed moving moxes into a huge (refrigerator sized) box set on top of 2 dollies - to be rolled from my condo, down a maze of hallways, ouside into the moving truck. Gawd, I was SO relieved to see that my life's belongings were in very conscientious hands. Long story short, there was no doubt I called the right movers. Vlad and Alex were simply magnificent. I wished I was Jeff Bezos for a day, so I could hand each of them a million dollars :) I had been unnecessarily dreading moving day for weeks. There is not a single thing or action Vlad and or Alex could have done better, for me. It was a PERFECT move for me. All my worrying for NOTHING!!!!!

The movers were punctual, professional, and handled all of my belongings with care. They even went above and beyond to ensure everything was set up in my new home exactly how I wanted it and took the trash and boxes of the items I had unpacked while they were unloading the truck. I highly recommend Your Moving Men to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient moving service.

TMAAT was recommended and they did not disappoint! I called and spoke to Renada on a Wednesday to arrange movers for a week later. She was very patient and quickly walked me through the steps, took my inventory and answered questions. After some discussion with family, I called back to confirm and spoke with Derek who was just as professional. He suggested I might need three men instead of two and explained the pricing was basically the same. Upon receiving the emailed quote/pre-move confirmation, I noticed the starting address was incorrect. I called on a Saturday and Makayla updated the address while I was on the phone and promptly emailed it to me for signature. The day before the move I called to confirm everything and was told everything was set. The morning of the move, Jerrell called me with an ETA of 55 minutes. He, along with George and Marcus, arrived exactly on time and ready to help. All three were professional and very friendly, upbeat and positive for an early morning, and agreeable to wearing booties in the house per the real estate agent since it had been raining for two days. I admit they had bug eyes when I pointed out extremely heavy patio furniture, but they got right to work and were careful and efficient. They wrapped mattresses and patio heaters, were very careful with artwork and followed instructions of where to place the items as they took them off the truck in Baltimore County. I had paid $100 deposit prior to the move, and this amount was included in my final payment, which was shockingly the exact amount they quoted me in my estimate. No upcharges or extra fees. I honestly expected about $200 more in fees since I was right at the 6-hour deadline. I appreciated their honesty and integrity with my belongings and my money and time. They made moving day way less stressful and a positive experience due to their timeliness, professionalism and kindness, not to mention their lighthearted and friendly attitudes. I would definitely use this company again and hope to get these THREE MEN AND A TRUCK: Jerrell, George and Marcus. After the move, I got a couple of texts from Seth asking how the move went and asking for some follow up. I appreciated the reach out, as it showed the company values feedback.

I'll be blunt: fuck this company. I'd give 0 stars or negative if I could. I should've read more…read morereviews prior to hiring these incompetent people. Now, reading the other reviews, I feel like I dodged a bullet in a way. I'm actually flabbergasted this company is still functioning or allowed to operate. I plan to complain to BBB. To preface: I honestly don't even know what location my movers were coming out of. The paperwork was inconsistent. My paperwork listed Crofton, MD, but the individual I spoke with over the phone said they just have their Red Branch location now, so I assumed that's where they'd be coming from. I wouldn't trust any/either of the Maryland locations at all though. I booked a move roughly two weeks ago. A SMALL, very SIMPLE move. Just about 1 bedroom worth of stuff to a studio apartment 30 mins away (Dundalk to Towson). I spoke with Chantel on the phone and she was relatively nice and helpful. I paid a $100 deposit. As the move approached I received numerous calls, voicemails and texts to confirm my move. I confirmed with them over the phone. My new building is a high rise and I had to reserve a loading dock and freight elevator and the reservations are 3-hour time blocks. I blocked off 11am-2pm at the loading dock, informed the movers of this, and they assured me they would be at my place to begin the move between 8:30 and 10am-ish. At 9am I got a call from Two Men and the guy said he wanted to be "really transparent with me" and informed me that he had a "bunch of guys with the flu called out sick" and he would be unable to perform my move today. He asked if I could reschedule my move for 4 DAYS LATER on CHRISTMAS EVE. Are you fucking kidding me??! All my belongings were in boxes, I had slept on the couch because I took apart my bed and moved my mattress (in order to make the move easier for the movers), and I had nowhere to sleep for another 4 nights, nor any clothes, shower items, etc because everything was IN BOXES READY TO MOVE. What the hell?! I had this reservation for 2 weeks!! He then said he could do it tomorrow (so somehow he went from "I can do this 4 days from now" to "I can do this tomorrow" ??). He said he'd do it at a discount. I asked how large of a discount? He said he couldn't tell me LOL Are you kidding me? You're offering me a discount but can't tell me how much, what a joke. Unacceptable. At that point I was 1) running late to my loading dock reservation time, 2) very upset and angry, and 3) had a VERY bad feeling about these movers and no longer trusted anything they said or had to offer me. It was so obvious they were lying blatantly to my face lmao They really think I'm fucking stupid. I don't believe for one second that "all your guys are sick." Boo fucking hoo. Not my problem. Hire more employees so you can cover for the ones who are out sick. I am PAYING YOU to do YOUR JOB! How do I even know your guys are "sick" for real. I doubt they're even actually sick. They were probably just out late drinking the previous night or whatever and called in "sick." Whether they're sick or not is not the point. The point is that I DO NOT CARE, I paid for a service and I expect that service to be carried out. I got so pissed, I didn't even bother to call these idiots back. I am lucky to have some very supportive, very kind friends who stepped up for me and we performed the move ourselves in roughly 4 hours; myself, one man, and my (currently pregnant) best friend. To be clear: my PREGNANT best friend (who can't lift heavy objects at the moment) was more helpful than these ""two men."" Thanks to my friend's help, I completed my move without this shitty company, and I also got my deposit back (after my friend advocated for me and demanded it back). DO NOT HIRE. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE LIE TO YOU. DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY. DO NOT TRUST. I truly don't understand how they can expect people to simply reschedule a move the day of. A move is a pre-planned, pre-arranged ordeal. I don't need to explain this but many moves have a time constraint: my time constraint was just a loading dock, but often times people absolutely HAVE to have all their belongings out of a place by a certain day and time or their stuff could simply be thrown in the street. Sometimes emergencies happen and people have to move out FAST (for safety reasons, for their kids, so they can start a new job right away, etc). I'm lucky I wasn't currently in a situation like that, but it's unacceptable for a moving company to cancel on you last minute or not show up when your whole life revolves around your move and your housing situation. I am ultimately so glad these people never touched any of my belongings. My friends and I used our collective strength, motivation, savvy, and hustle to complete my move with one platform dolly and 2 SUV's. My friend said it best: it's a case of "if you want something done right DO IT YOURSELF."

Three movers at an estimated 4 hours, although the…read morewoman on the phone said she thought it would only take 3, she just wanted to make sure that there was enough time. It took them 3.5 hours. Anyways, so they get to our old house and early on it's pretty easy to see that they're completely inept. Matt was the lead and I told him things I was worried about (getting the mattress down the stairs, getting the couches out of our old house and and into the new because they're big) and all he said was "It's fine we can make it work." And well Austin and Ufon-Abasi could not make those things work. My husband had to tell them how to bring our mattress down the stairs. We bought mattress bags and they tried to put the mattress down with the open side first AND THEN DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT KEPT SLIPPING OFF. I'm not kidding-my husband had to explain to these "experts" that they needed it to go closed side down the stairs to keep it on. He also had to explain to them how couches fit out doors (like tilting and lifting). It was a disaster. And then we get to the new house and one of the guys decides to take a 10-15 minute bathroom break, which meant the other guy just played on his phone and waited for him to be done (instead of, idk, bringing in small furniture he could carry alone). Then when they go to bring our bagged mattress, only a year old bed that's never been moved before-THEY TAKE OFF THE MATTRESS BAG. I noticed, while my husband was pushing it and giving them directions about how to take it up the stairs because they were just standing there and staring, they got some red paint or dirt or something on it from having it in the truck without the protective bag. I repeat-IT WAS A DISASTER. The icing on the cake was when they left and Mr. Pooper decided it was a good idea to remind us that we can tip them on the app. As soon as they left I called Bellhops and the woman I spoke to was very nice. She took 15 minutes off of the time because of the bathroom break and gave me 10% off the whole move. She also forwarded me to their claims department. So I get an email from them and apparently they pay $.60 per pound for damage caused to an item, but they need pictures. When I came upstairs to take pictures-the sight was so much worse than I could have anticipated. They got holes in it and stuffing was coming out. They must have dragged it in dirt because there were sticks intertwined into the fabric. There's red and black marks all over it. It's completely ruined. My $1500 Satvaa mattress that my husband and I splurged on as a wedding present to ourselves is now gross and dirty and ruined. $.60 to my 145 pound mattress is not going to cover it. I've never used movers before and we did it because we bought our first house and wanted as little stress as possible-and that's not at all what we got. Never again will I use this company and I recommend that you don't either! EDIT: Although I was unhappy with the movers, their customer service is OFF. THE. CHARTS. I spoke with a few people over a couple of days and every one of them was apologetic, friendly, and they worked to make things right. I was impressed with Charlotte who was the lead on my claim and her sincerity and follow up with my issues. I changed my initial one star rating to a three because of her.
