***PLEASE BE AWARE OF BREAK-INS/STORAGE THEFTS*** Our storage in Azusa, CA was broken into with no signs of lock picking which makes me think it was an inside job. There were footprints on the wall which also makes me believe they might have came in through the top. I have photos of the footprints on the wall & my mattress leaning against it where the person might have landed or used for leverage. There are no cameras on the hallways & in no which way is this location secure. A couple days ago we received notification of a fire on the basement but management should also send notification warnings of thefts & break-ins. The only thing management offered was one month's free rent. Nothing else was done to help. Storage spaces are paid to keep your items secure & it's frustrating that this happened. Please be cautious & reconsider before renting from here. read more

I recently had my unit broken into. Security is non existent at the Azusa location. My unit was broken into by the vacant adjacent unit that had no lock. The facility puts on a plastic flimsy secure tag on those units. They didn't even offer a months rent free after my unit was broken into. They didn't keep my items secure so why should I have to pay for that. The way they secure vacant units is unacceptable. Security is a joke and pretty much non existent. Manager / director failed to reach out after I requested waving 1 months rent free. read more

It's a bit dirty they need to power wash the parking area and clean better. The elevators are gross and break down a lot and the carts are gross too. Extra space as a company needs to stop renting to people online without vetting them, it causes a lot of issues. Prices are a bit high too. Overall it's a good storage facility so far. Posting pics so they can see how they need to clean better/more often. They do that, maintenance the elevators more often and install an automatic gate opener this location would be way better! read more

Very nice facility with very nice management, Vicky was really kind and flexible. The storage units are clean and safe. The only reason I didn't provide 5 stars is because after a few months, they doubled the price. I was provided notice through written mail but didn't see in before being charged. They weren't willing to work with me so on price so I did eventually move out. read more

Had a very easy process in leasing a storage unit here. The location is convenient to where I'm located, super clean, and the employees are helpful. Haven't had one issue since starting my rental here! I love the easy accessibility, the carts provided, and how clean the facility is. read more

Horrible, sketchy and scam artists. This place has become a hub for homeless and sketchy activity. We came to put away Christmas decorations and there was several guys painting car parts, smoking cigarettes and marijuana with there RV (which we noticed was staying over night). There was a fire onsite as well and the basement flooded and extra space did nothing to help mitigate the costs of moving our items or renting a truck. Assistant manager Mike is rude and unhelpful. They continuously raise the rent but provide no customer service or take an accountability. There's been break ins and people clearly living in units and you would think after the fire they'd up security especially since they raise rates but nope. It's unfortunate that we came in November 2023 $118 with insurance included. The Agent was the very helpful. We asked if this introductory offer would change at all in the next month or the year because of the bait and switch complaints. We were told we would be getting a notice upon our first year for an increase, as is industry standard. By January we had our first increase of an additional $81.10! We fought the increase. But needed up in middle ground. It's July and we just got another increase. $122 increase! It's unfortunate that this is happening again and we've only been there 8months. CA Insurance hikes aren't the issue because that rate isn't changing. I believe they really don't want to keep the business they have. I'm not sure how they think this is good business. Just because you can raise rates doesn't mean you should---definitely not to these extremes. Maybe they are hoping people will default so they can sell their spaces/personal items at auction? I don't know. But we can't continue to fight for decent rates every few months. We just want a business who will not try to take advantage of us. This one isn't it. read more

Be careful of the bait and switch. We signed up for a storage space for $68 a month on a month to month basis. Two months later we get a letter saying they're increasing the rate to $137! It's ridiculous, shop around and ask about their fees specifically. read more

I'll admit, I was wary of this company after reading the reviews. However, I can say that my experience with Extra Space thus far has been top notch. It was easy to submit a reservation online. The staff called me soon after I made my reservation to talk about my needs. I requested to come see the facilities and was accommodated. They were friendly towards me, gave me a tour including my prospective unit, and I just had a pleasant experience. The building itself is nice, clean, and orderly. I'm confident in the security and everything still looks new and pretty sharp. So, I get the feeling they run a smooth operation. I will say that I visited on a Wednesday evening around 5:30pm. There were no other customers around so the staff was able to give me their full attention. It was also easy to navigate the building as there were no other people to bump into or walk around. I can see how it might be stressful in that place if you go when it's crowded and people are milling about with boxes, dollies, and loading their units or cars. I'm a new customer so I have yet to see if I will get any of these unfair charges that people have posted about. As for my experience up to this point, I am very satisfied. Thank you! Oh, if I had any complaints - One of the elevators was broken. I'll complain about that if it doesn't get fixed for a long time. Other than that, I wish there was a light inside the unit. Apparently the only light you'll get is the incidental lighting from the hallways when your unit door is open. I wouldn't expect each unit to be fully lit like a kitchen but even just one light bulb would've been nice. The hallways themselves are well-lit but I can see how it might be frustrating to have to feel around in the dark if your unit gets particularly full. read more
