Last minute storage searching was stressful until I found extra space storage! Somehow, my check in online didn't go through, but I called in and (I think her name was Alex) answered and made it so smooth and helped me w all my questions! ENTIRE CAMPER STOLEN! Absolutely no!!!!!!! Don't come here. Don't be fooled by the lower rate at first, they will just double the price in a few months. Since we have parked our camper here, it has been broken into, damaged, license plate stolen, and the entire camper has now been stolen. Not sure what we are paying for here. I had another storage unit so I moved all my stuff to this one because it was way cheaper. Actually it turned into 3 because obviously I can't judge how much fits into one. When I had to get the second one they were very helpful in getting me into it day of. The third one worked out well because it was next to the 2nd one. Before I left Austin last summer I noticed that having an outside unit can get rats into the storage units. No matter what you have they come (inside unit didn't have that problem...moth balls could be smelled). When I opened my two storage units yesterday you can def tell the rats visited. I found a dead one in my storage unit and it stunk really bad; all that was left was the skeleton, tail, and fur nasty business there. I specifically asked if they could give me a discount for that one. No but I understand they can't. I think it would have helped if they said to throw some moth balls in your unit to deter them a bit. When I went to the office yesterday they had a new manager out of the SA office. I think he was pretty nice and helped answer all my questions. The other guy on duty really helped me get my truck down the aisle making sure I didn't hit anything...Those aisles are skinty that are in the middle. Besides being the cheapest in price it was nice to know they were on high ground so none of the units got flooded. I had to ask if they had a junk man that comes and picks up stuff you don't want to take with you. They said yes and gave me a quote which they honored because it was more. Anyhow I'd recommend this place. Only reason for 3 stars I think it was the rat issues and that half my stuff had poop pellets or was eaten through by the rats. read more

I've rented at other Extra Space Storage facilities before and have had good experiences. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience at the Slaughter Creek facility and would not recommend it. I reserved a storage unit online and received an email confirmation with move-in instructions and the monthly fee. When I arrived to the facility, though, the manager tried to charge an additional registration fee. When I explained that neither the website nor the confirmation mentioned anything about this, he said that I could either "pay it or leave." He also promised me that, even if he wanted to wave the fee, he had no way of doing so. When I called the 800 number and explained the situation, they instructed the manager to wave the fee. That said, my issue isn't actually with the fee; if the website or email had mentioned it, I would have paid it. My issue is with the fact that the manager lied to my face about his ability to refund it. The whole situation felt less like renting a storage unit and more like buying a used car. I don't enjoy being nickel-and-dimed. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I would not recommend renting from this facility. read more

I've seen the negative reviews, but I have to say that I've had quite a different experience than some of their other people - leading me to think that maybe some of the issues have been or are being addressed. Kelly was really helpful in getting us into the unit and they honored the price quote we got online. Additionally, this place is - by far - the cheapest storage facility in the area. Like 50% cheaper than the next closest unit. Overall, it's about as good an experience as one can have with a storage facility. read more

I stored household items at this location for over a year. Rental rate was somewhat high, and they raised the rental rate twice. Why the one star review?... RATS!!!!! This storage facility is full of rats. So, I was basically paying rent so rats could pee and poop on my storage items... and even eat a lot of my storage items. I complained to management multiple times, but they kept blaming the rat problem on the tenants who supposedly were not following the rules about storage items. Ridiculous! If ESS can't figure out a pest control plan for a large storage facility, then they need to get out of the storage business. I've been storing items at places like this for over 20 years, and I have never seen a rat problem this bad... When I finished vacating the storage unit, there were two dead rats and the floor was covered in rat poop... read more

im updating this review because everything that i stored in my two units was either urinated on by rats or eaten by them. half of what i stored had to be trashed. 0 stars. i was helped by anddy and it was a great experience! he's super funny and was very helpful. currently have 2 storage units there and i've never had a problem. i recommend it! read more
