So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

In turn, IMRG hired Zip Van Lines to move us from Louisiana to Michigan. They used a bait and switch tactic to draw us in. The first estimate was within our budget. Right before the movers arrived, they bumped the price up by 50%. It was too late to cancel then. All of my family had passed away. I raised money for the move by selling off their furniture and other belongings. These companies drained our savings. We couldn't pay the final charge at delivery. They put our belongings in storage and refuse to deliver them. They have my family photos and their military funeral flags. I've been in talks with them, they have one lie after another. The load pictures show that our load was much less than they claim, they actually owe us a refund. They still claim the load was larger. Zip Van Lines falsified the Bill of Lading and now they are lying about the size of our load. They are even claiming that the truck holds 1952 cubic feet of space, but there's no evidence that Zip has a truck of that size! These companies are scammers and I advise staying far from them! They're holding our goods hostage and our evidence shows it as theft and the money they demand is extortion. DO NOT HIRE EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES!!!

He was able to get his brother to help and acquire another large truck so that we were able to stay on schedule. The entire move was incredible. The movers wrapped everything incredibly well including many large paintings etc. they didn't damage the house we left or the house we moved to or even 1 piece of our furniture! I also thought the service was a good value for the level of work they provided. What I especially appreciated was that they worked with me to find a solution when my plans changed. At one point, I was considering storing my belongings at their warehouse for less than a week. Rather than simply taking the additional business, they told me it did not make sense to move everything from the original location into warehouse storage for such a short period because it would unnecessarily increase my costs. That advice was one of the reasons I ultimately decided to use PODS instead. My moving needs did change at the last minute, which made the overall move more expensive than I had originally planned, but that was because of the changing logistics, not because they were trying to increase the price. I really appreciated that they were focused on helping me find the most practical and cost-effective solution. I would absolutely recommend them.

The guys were nice but inefficient. Kept saying this is what you get with a higher quality mover, but it was not even a better experience. They were wasteful with the amount of packing supplies they used, never presented or communicated the prices of the materials they were using, which I was told was included anyway but also others I never approved or asked for. Just popped it on me in the end. Oh and then they say "we are going to adjust your time by 15 min you'll see a refund on your card" and two and a half weeks later still waiting for it to even show pending at least. But you better believe the charge was instant. I was debating sharing my feedback but was so mad I finally emailed the company. But no one had even dignified me with not even an automated response, just silence. So I come here to do something I pretty much never do. But that's how annoyed I am. Sorry but would rather recommend. Cheap Movers, way better. I used last move were a thousand times better and a QUARTER of the price. Their crew removed the walls as well as all insulations behind the walls, they cleaned everything in the common area and they did a truly excellent job. They were super-efficient, hardworking, experienced professionals; they completed the work in one day and left my condo very clean and spotless as it was before they came. I am very impressed with the company, especially with Will, who is very responsive, reliable, courteous and it is a great pleasure to work with. I don't mean to brag ...but, we're sort of frequent flyers there. We were introduced to John Pletcher, RestorTech's owner, and his crew in July 2011, after our house was struck by lightning and caught fire. We had a lot of structural damage but lost surprisingly little of our personal belongings and household furnishings. RestorTech came out and packed up everything in our house. The pack-out and moving process took about a week and a half. It happened during an awful heat wave with daytime temperatures exceeding 100 each day. The entire crew worked (and sweated) their butts off. All of our belongings were professionally packed, cleaned up/restored and held in storage until a little over a year later, when our home repairs were completed. When it was time to move back into our home, John made sure to send the same crew out to move us back in. Our move-in was more comfortable for the crew because we had working air conditioning unlike during the pack-out. It was wonderful to see them again and it kind of felt somewhat like going to a reunion and seeing friends you haven't seen in a long time. All of our belongings and "stuff" were returned in great condition and several things came back in better condition than when they left. For example, I have a family heirloom desk that belonged to my mom. One of the legs was broken and I just never got around it having it fixed but it was fixed when RestorTech returned it to us. The second and third encounters with RestorTech were for water damage from a burst pipe. They got out here so fast and did such a great job so that only the padding under the carpet was ruined. They were able to extract the water out of the carpet and once it fully dried we just had to replace the section of padding that had been ruined. The cost of those two water encounters was very reasonable which made us happy because we paid out of pocket for those instead of making an insurance claim. There were one or two more minor events where they came to our rescue as well. Throughout all of our history with RestorTech we've worked closely with Molly. She and I, well, we're practically BFF's at this point. Okay, I may have exaggerated that slightly, but seriously, Molly is amazing and we adore her. RestorTech is a great company led by a great man and you can't go wrong in picking them to help you when those traumatic, unfortunate events up-end your life.

Their idea of climate controlled units is turn the thermostat off or set it so the inside temperature is acceptable at 85 degrees. Need help on-site? Good luck, there isn't anyone there anytime I go. When the office was open, they were always on a lunch break regardless of when you needed them during the day.
