We recently had water damage in our home when the washing machine decided to overflow and put a…read moresignificant amount of water on the laundry room and kitchen floors.  The water ran through into the basement damaging the ceiling and walls in our finished basement, as well as the carpeting on the floor.  We immediately called ServPro, who quickly came to our rescue, helping us move things out of the way to minimize damage and to begin the initial clean-up of the water. This was followed by one of their expert teams coming in and cleaning up the mess, removing the ruined kitchen and laundry room floors, as well as part of the basement ceiling and walls, and drying the entire place out. We could not have been more pleased with the workmanship and the professionalism of the team.  They were courteous and thoughtful and worked quickly, safely and took great care with our belongings.  They really appreciated what we were going through and were incredibly helpful throughout the process.  The office personnel, especially Tia, were so incredibly helpful as well, working to get estimates and paperwork together and even contacting our insurance company for us to make sure everything was taken care of. We are so grateful ServPro was there, we have no idea how we would have gotten through this without them.  Not only would I recommend them to others, I do routinely, as they are simply fantastic.

First and foremost, the water restoration was AMAZING. The team was great. Same team showed up…read moreeach time and explained everything they were going to do. They were extremely courteous to my wife, my kids and me. Great guys. Would use that team any day for water restoration. That interaction was the shortest part of the job, hence the low rating. The restoration and office experience is an entire different story... Before I go into the bad, I will say everyone who entered my home was kind and respectful. Now the not so good: -Promises go unfulfilled. -told that we would finish in a week. It took almost 3 weeks -a team was supposed to show up on a daily basis by 8:30am. They showed up around 9:30/10:00am. Sometimes a few people, other times 1 person. One of the workers said he was taking vacation soon and the manager told us that person had to leave on a family emergency out of country. In my experience, emergencies are usually a "get up and go" type of instance vs something planned. -work was left unfinished and when I called the office they said "the walkthrough was completed" -We also took a railing down after a portion of the wall was painted (they still had to put on more coats of paint). They chose not to paint the area where the railing meets the wall. They said "oh, I thought you were putting this back up." We were told they would return to fix. Got a call that day asking to have it moved back until the following Tuesday... never showed, never called, nothing. I guess it was my fault since I went ahead and paid before it was fixed. - Attention to detail -many things were considered "done" and we had to point out holes that were not filled before painting, quarter round molding not nearly flush, holes in grout, etc. This would not have been fixed unless we pointed it out. For painting, these guys don't even tape. sloppy job on a number of corners. -Payment/Office interaction. - gave an upfront payment with a credit card. No issues, no fees - the day the job was finished, we were told if we wanted to pay with credit card again, we would have a 3.5% fee. No notification of this until the day of. Nothing written on payment terms in the contract, just a "by the way, this is happening now".. also, if they had finished on time, this would not have been a problem because this new policy was implemented after the fact. Talked to Steven about it who was very unprofessional. I told him about the delay being the issue and if they had finished on time, I would have still been able to pay. He even tried to blame me fore the delay. "Oh, you requested more work" (the promise of when they would finish occurred after the work was requested). Then he said they were waiting on the insurance adjuster to approve the additional work. Funny, the insurance adjuster called me asking where the update was from ServPro as she wanted to make sure this was taken care of quickly (I used servpro because they are a preferred vendor of the insurance I use so communication would be direct. He also said "we were waiting on your sliding glass to be delivered" (something they forgot to remove on their template contract from another customer...we had no sliding glass being done). Garrison at least had apathy, was apologetic and said they are working on how to inform people properly. Might not seem like a big deal but I don't like providing my bank account number. It's much more of a pain to fix than a credit card if it is used inappropriately. I told them I would take my time paying and Steven gave me more grief. I said how do they expect me to pay with a check if the insurance company has not even paid me. Turns out they didn't even tell the insurance company they had finished so the funds could be released! Just adding in, seems like I got a response sayiNg I should call about questions I have. I actually voiced all that was wrong. Kind of funny I keep finding more that is wrong. For instance, in the middle of a kitchen tile there is a piece of plastic or glue sticking out of the grout and spots that weren't even painted. Kind of funny that a walk through the house with my pregnant wife who just wanted the job done is a "final sign off" that the work is completed.

I called the 800 number on Nov. 3 and it was clear that it wasn't an office but some manner of call service that plugged me in with another individual. The gentleman was pleasant enough and said that a tech would call me before EOD. I received a TEXT from Abi, not a call, at 6:08 pm. I never had someone text me instructions about a potential home visit before but, as I'm desperate for repairs, I went with it despite my reluctance. I asked in the text to have the tech please share their license and credentials. I don't know these people. I just needed to know who I'm letting into my home. I received a call from a gentleman I assumed to be the owner or operator who took umbrage at me asking for the credentials of the tech, and proceeded to call it "weird" (that is the word he used) that I'd ask since, and I quote, "all we're doing is an estimate." I don't care if you were building the Ark of the Covenant divined by God himself, I am not letting someone in my home without knowing fully who they are. Call it paranoia, call it weird as that person did, but they can take that attitude and go the other way. I'll find someone else.

He specifically noted that he did not want to charge me. The amount required for what sounded like a minor repair. His honesty and integrity was unmatched and saved me a lot of money. For their honesty alone, I 100% recommend these folks to anyone who needs their services.

Sam explained how they are working with the insurance company and take care of A to Z and everything went well as was explained. The techs were professional and polite. They removed the wet floor and dried out the walls and the cabinets. The drying equipment were running for few days and they start the renovation right after they made sure everything is dry. We have new cabinets and floor and the kitchen and living room is newly painted. They worked closely with my adjuster to address all their concern. I will use the gain if I ever need any emergency flood services.

Two and a half years later, the house was beautiful to look at. UNFORTUNATELY, after getting renters in the home we realized NOTHING was hooked up. When the tenants started using everything, the master bathroom tub was put in backwards. Jetted tub flooded the downstairs ceiling. The stove was leaking gas because the gas line was too short. The fireplace was leaking and the fire department said my house could have blown up, the dishwasher was not hooked up to the water line, and subsequently flooded the basement. The tenants counted live there because of severe asthma, so their rent was comped, and service master refused to compensate for loss of wages. They refused to take responsibility, and placed an insurance claim with their insurance company and refused to give my loss wages for rent or pain and suffering from the incompetence. They fired the contractor working on my behalf because they were wrong, and I'm still finding things wrong in the house. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. They are out for self, and not the consumer. It's unfortunate that they don't care about who pays their bills.

He was able to diagnose that we didn't have any major issues, with minimal disturbance to the floor, within 15 minutes of being here. The information they provided during the original consultation was that everything could easily be dried out. which in reality it could be, however they tried like heck to get the insurance company to remodel the entire kitchen. Basically saying that even if the kitchen does not need replacing, the insurance company is too stupid to know, so I might as well commit insurance fraud!! When a contractor tells you to commit fraud because it is undetectable, ask yourself, are they that desperate for work? Also, it appears most of their old "5 start" rating was fake - Yelp removed all of the reviews and put them in the "unrecommended reviews" section. I wish I had not seen a 5 star rating and called them... Fortunately it looks like Yelp fixed the issue and the current rating you see is more valid.
