Disappointed with my experience at iTAN. I had one of their more expensive passes thinking I'd be able to use all the amenities, especially the tanning beds. Unfortunately, I didn't even get to tan. I had to take an urgent call and couldn't get into the bed right away, and when I told them, they told me they couldn't set the machine up again. Their excuse? "We don't know if you tanned or not." Which makes no sense. They definitely have monitors that track usage, and if it's an instant tan like they claim, it would have shown on my skin. I didn't want to argue because it was obvious they weren't interested in helping. To make it worse, I went into another amenity room and could clearly hear staff gossiping about customers, mutual friends, even their own coworkers. The ceilings are open, so nothing is private. Very disappointing experience at my first time at this I tan in Poway. I had called and asked if they have red light therapy because I saw it on their website offering a seven day free trial. They said yes and just bring a picture of the coupon down. I brought a friend so that they can experience it to with a possibility of enrolling on some services first thing, the two girls at the front desk was asking if I've been there in the past and I said I might have been many many years ago and before I could say anything else they had told me that I couldn't use the trial. I'm not sure if this is a new location, but it's a very poor way of turning away a disappointed potential new client. Actually potentially two new clients. It probably would've been not so bad of an experience if the girl had mentioned that on the phone call but I drove 20 minutes During my lunch break to give this new service a try. I ended up explaining I was frustrated and instead of having better customer service and saying we could definitely honor that for you they had no problem with me walking out the door with another potential client. this is the second time I have had an issue with this location and I just discourage anyone from going here because it's really frustrating. They give mixed messages and they don't honor their deals or maybe they just have bad communication with their employees. I very much enjoy all the iTans I visit. First time here at Poway. However this one was the opposite. Sure new location with new beds. However staff is most certainly not welcoming, friendly, or helpful like at every other iTAN place I visit. You're not even greeted with a up beat vibe. They were even resistant to questions about what new beds they have considering it was my first time at this location, YES I was curious what they had to offer that may differ. I probably wouldn't return for that alone. Even though they have the new Red Light Bed which is only reason I went in. To me the "the known" welcoming up beat vibe you get at an iTAN just wasn't happening at this location and that is always a pleasure and helped keep me a member for close to a full year . Midday non busy time as well. I left disappointed and thinking one and done here to be honest. All good I got my tan on I suppose. Just go to Carmel Mountain up the road. Super awesome there IMHO. I have come to this location a few times and EVERY time I come to this location the ladies are SO nice, the salon is SUPER clean and IT DOESN'T SMELL!!!!! My membership is on pause and wanted to take advantage of their $1 President Day Weekend sale so I went to the Carmel Mountain and the odor that I smelled immediately walking in, got me nauseous. I love the ladies there too, but there's a smell that just gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. So I thought I would try the Poway location then next day and WOW! Nadine the Manager was at the front desk and I explained to her the smell that I kept smelling at Carmel Mountain and she told me they had the same issue but have figured a way to kill it! AND OMG...that salon is so different! I didn't get nauseous or get a headache. Not only did Nadine talk me into buying the last of the Tekton Aftersun lotion but I bought the new one too!!! So, my bestie Princess Money aka Jen G. got me hooked on iTan. I was reluctant at first since I'm the original Sun Queen and only tanned outdoors. Jen G. says, "spa dummy". Well, I think they need to promote their spa services more! I started on a one week free trial, totally in love with all the spa services. I joined within that week and ended up getting the whole package, sun AND spa. Check out the amazing spa services. BodyWrap, HydrationStation, PhotoFacial, BeautyAngel and Hydromassage. My skin feels so soft and looks luminous. Look into the sunning/tanning services. They have Mystic Tan and Versa Spa for spray tans and several different levels of sun beds. I have to admit, I have taken to the sun beds to alleviate my lack of sun blues. Who knew it would help? I am a fan of the photo therapies provided by the PhotoFacial and BeautyAngel, I do see a difference in my skin. read more

My Yelp Elite mentor introduced me to iTan at their Carmel Mountain location a couple of weeks ago, and convinced me to try a monthly membership. This time she introduced me to the Poway location try the Beauty Angel machine. It didn't take a lot of convincing because a few years ago, I happened to attend a two day seminar hosted by Thor LASER and am fully convinced that photobiomodulation therapy works. This is because we bought the $16k Thor LASER machine at the seminar and have used it at home for the past 5 years. I used it on my knee successfully and we used it on my son, when he had injuries. At the seminar, which my entire family attended, we learned all about the science behind it. Basically, electromagnetic radiation in the form of LED or LASER light applied in protocols of different wavelengths for certain durations can have significant health benefits. These benefits have been proven clinically. While the Beauty Angel machine may not be as advanced as the NovoThor whole body PMB bed being sold by Thor Laser, this is the closest thing there is currently in San Diego. I recommend P4 setting (recommended by Jen G). The vibrating got my entire body a shaking. It's like those foot massagers at the Del Mar Fair that make your feet feel fantastic, only this does it for your entire body. I absolutely loved it! After my treatment, I chatted with the District manager, Nadine, who happened to be training a couple of new hires at this location. The LED facial also uses the same technology. We looked up the Thor LASER stuff and saw that the closest location that has one is in Newport Beach, NovoThor hasn't made it to San Diego yet. I explained that while my Thor LASER has the capabilities to treat, it is impractical to use for the whole body because it would take too much time. I left her looking fascinated w Thor LASER. I am hoping that I planned a seed that will lead to iTan getting NovoThor in San Diego! I've belonged to iTAN previously and always appreciated the calm environment, quality products and professional staff. However, no other location compared to Poway, and that is entirely due to the women who work there. They are seriously awesome. They were always warm, professional and genuine. It never felt fake or like a show, they just seemed to like talking to people (which I know is a tough thing to like all the time). They make an effort to learn regulars names, which is so nice when you walk in the door and they look you up without even needing your name. iTAN as a company has always been great, I've appreciated that I never felt like someone was really selling to me (trying to push me to spend more) and it's easy to suspend or cancel your account. It's why I always feel comfortable signing back up when I need/want to. If you're tanning anywhere else, you're missing out. If you're looking to start, you've found the best place. read more

I just finished my 7 day trial and I have to admit I might be a little hooked on spray tans.. okay who am I kidding I'm hooked! The last spray tan I got was over 5 years ago and the systems have improved tremendously since then. Gone are the days of faux orange glow even on the darkest spray. With my pass I was able to test out their other spa treatments such as the fit body wrap, beauty angel, photo facial and versa pro spray tanning. I felt the staff was friendly and accommodating. The machines were kept clean and in good condition. They provide you with fresh towels, eye protection, entertainment and all the other items you need to use their machines. The only thing you need to bring or buy there would be the lotions bronzers. Yes, they do try sell those items it's part of their job. But they didn't try to sell me something every time I came in for a visit which I appreciated. I am a huge fan of the versa pro spray tan, I heard the mystic was better since it does more tones. But I was very happy with both my spray tans on the versa. I did a level 3 each time with primer lotion. Its goes up to 4. It's super easy, you just listen to the instructions on where to place your feet. The color does last for a good week or longer. It's $35 for a single spray with no membership. I've received compliments on my tan! I feel so good with it on. The other spa options are nice, not sure how often I would use them and how effective it is. I would be willing to sign up for the spray tan membership. I would get a lot out of that more than the spa treatments. I did like the body wrap it's like a full body sauna for an hour. Overall I like the variety of memberships they offer. They also post different deals and sales. Just keep an eye out. I enjoyed the services here and I think the spray tan membership is worth it! read more

I've been a regular at 5 different iTan locations (all of them clean and functional) and this one isn't just the worst, it's ridiculous. I've been a sun,spray, and spa member for about 2 years now and this location might make me cancel it. The staff is the worst. None of them ever know what's going on, the beds are always dirty, several times the goggles have been dirty, which can lead to eye infections, and other spa equipment is dirty, incorrectly assembled or just broken. I asked for a strap for some goggles once for the photo facial and the girl said, "um, just like, tilt your head back so they don't fall off." Another time, I asked for a towel or robe, the girl working said, "well, um, we don't have any, our washer doesn't work." I said, "you're telling me you don't have any towels?" She comes back with, "Oh yeah, um, I can get you one of those." They overlap scheduling and can't seem to keep anything straight. Every time I call or go in, it's just confusion and incompetence. I just called to try and make an appointment for a spa service and she says they don't take appointments for that service anymore. When I asked why, she said it's because they're the only location that's ever taken appointments for it, so they're stopping. I informed her that that's definitely not true and she just said, "well, I don't know why but I don't like it either." It's just beyond ridiculous at this point, I'm a bit fed up. If you sign up with iTan, just know that this location is the pits. If it's the only one you'll be able to make it to, just pass on it. read more

This is the best tanning experience. Capri is so sweet, professional, and very personable. She's very much educated and offers her recommendations. The other girls are also lovely and knowledgeable, I've mostly seen Sydney, and she's excellent, too. I've met a few others but forgot their names. I've met Nadine, an area manager, several times, and she's friendly, too. The beds are sanitized, and the place is always clean. They also offer spa services and have several monthly package options to meet your needs. Check this place out of you need some spray tans, bed tans, airbrush tans, and other services. Please keep in mind I've been going to iTan for over ten years and it upsets me to write this review. I visit the iTan in Escondido weekly for bed and spray tanning and have never had an issue with any iTan until today. Prior to moving to Escondido I went to iTan Poway for three years, which is why I'm shocked with my experience today. I went to iTan Poway this morning at 8am because I was in the area and needed a quick spray tan for tonight. I explained to Gabby that I needed to be sprayed with a bronzer and accelerator because I needed to be extremely tan by this afternoon for an event tonight. Adding the additive and extra bronzer to my spray tan cost an additional 15 dollars. When I left the salon and got home I noticed I wasn't any bronzer than before I went in. This should not have been the case if bronzer was added. I called the store and Gabby said to give it another hour to set in. It never did. I believe the bronzer was never added. I called requesting a refund and was told I would need to drive from my home in Escondido all the way back to the salon in Poway for a refund. The gas money it would cost me to do that would be equivalent to the same price of the bronzer I paid for, but never received. Fast forward 3pm as I'm writing this review and I'm still not dark. I've included pictures to verify. Typically I wouldn't leave a review or care, but I've been a loyal customer of iTan for over ten years and feel the customer service I've received today is lacking. I have never tried iTan before but am incredibly happy with the results and plan to go back. I got the custom airbrush tan (level 3, 3 layers +prep +post) and it survived my 3 day weekend in Palm Springs, being in and out of the pool, lots of sunscreen, and Stagecoach Festival. Even at home a full week later I still have a nice glow! Anyone who spray tans knows that the tan tends to "peel" or flake off after a few days, but this one isn't and there's no streaks. read more

I've been a looooong time customer (nearly a decade) at iTan and have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly at many of their locations scattered throughout San Diego County. ITan Poway continues to give standout service and provide a great experience time after time. Recently, I had a charge on my account due to a major miscommunication experienced at a different location. I was assured I wouldn't be charged and come next billing cycle, sure enough, I was. This sounds like it should be an introduction to a one star review, and it would be if it weren't for the outstanding customer service provided by Poway's management team. Nice clean tanning salon. Super friendly ladies working the desk who are knowledgeable about what they do, but of course they're trying to sell you whatever you'll buy. Lots of bed options, both stand up and lie down. I took a ride in some futuristic super bed that has all kinds of settings and detects your skin before you get in. 20 minutes and I didn't get burned - it apparently adjusts based on the time and senses your skin somehow.
