I liked the salon and felt like it was more private vs. other salons where you have to hear other people's conversations. There is a lot of parking in the back. The shampoo bar is charming and intimate, as well. The only thing is recommended changing is adding a door or curtain to the coloring room so clients can't see inside when they are getting their hair washed. Brandy did a fantastic job with my highlights and lowlights. My hair was in a fragile state, with immensely grown out roots, and she was cautious to protect my hair from further damage. Brandy did such an excellent job with my highlights and low lights. She also toned my hair, and it didn't turn too ashy like previous stylists I've been too. Brandy is a fairy hair-ANGEL! After moving to San Diego and finding it difficult to come across the perfect stylist, I came across Brandy. I loved her work so much that even when she decided to move on to a better work-place, (and myself having lost her business card) I managed to track her down as I knew I needed her to do my hair for my wedding day. (In Traffic & I called to let them know) when I got there Melissa was rude. She said she had an appointment at 5 pm which it was 2 pm and said; "can we skip the cut or do an impartial highlight instead of a full?" I agreed. She then said; "Let's just reschedule. Update: Changing my review from 1 to 3 stars. The owner reached out to me and not only apologized, but offered me a few different options to make it right. Great customer service, just pick a different stylist. I went here based on the fantastic reviews. I had a very different experience and will not be back. Brandy was my stylist. While she is super sweet, she had no idea what she is doing. We discussed a partial balayage, just 1 tone lighter than the rest of my hair, to give it dimension. We also said that we would cut some longer layers. She showed me pictures of how she would do it and I liked it. When my hair was dried, my top looked almost blonde. She said it was the light. When I came home, it was still blonde, but the rest of my hair is a very dark brown. It also looked nothing like a balayage, but rather terribly done highlights. Some strains were almost an inch thick, whereas others were super thin. She started straight at my roots, and it just didn't blend in at all. I called her and asked for a correction. I came back the next day and told her to just do all of my hair in one color. When I was finished, it was still obviously lighter than the rest. I had an appointment to get to and was honestly not willing to color my hair a third time in 2 days. When I washed my hair at home and straightened it, it also became obvious that the cute is awful as well. Not only do I have 2 toned hair, but it's also separated bu chunky layers that are super uneven. I cannot even express how frustrated I am. It looks like I have extensions. Well, to voice my frustration, I wrote the owner, since she is also a member of my neighborhood group. I never heard back from her, and it's been a month. So this, I am leaving this review. A long overdo review! I see Jennae every couple of months for haircuts and I'm so happy to have found her since moving to the area. I've been lucky enough to have had a couple of really good hairdressers in the past, so I have high standards! After about a year and a half trying different places, I was so thankful find Jennae! It's taken me a long time to decide if I wanted to post a review or not but after the time and money it's taken to just get my hair back to where I started, I feel like it finally warrants a review. I had my hair done at the end of November by a stylist at Sunshine. It turned out to be an absolute nightmare. I will attach photos of my wishpic, my before and my after. I was so unhappy so I reached out to the stylist the very next morning to please help me fix it as my baby shower was that coming weekend. (I left the night before around 6pm so I couldn't fully see the color) She sincerely apologized and acknowledged via messages that my hair was absolutely not blended and didn't look as I requested. She told me to get clarifying shampoo and try to get as much as the color out myself in the few days before my appointment to "fix" it. Flash forward to a few days later when she attempted to redeem the hair - in front of a coworker or her boss (unsure) she mentioned that I had "changed my mind and decided I didn't like the color". Not the case at all. It was a disaster. Not sure if she tried to say that to cover her own behind or what but anyway... She did something with trying to strip the color out. It didn't even touch the hideously dark and unblended hair but she sent me on my way as she said my hair couldn't take trying to highlight over what she had just done. As I bit my tongue and tried not to freak out/cry, she had the nerve to say "well, you're pregnant so it was time for something new!" Not appropriate, funny, nor professional. Never offered any sort of refund for the almost $300 I spent. Never apologized any further in person. Nothing. Here I am 6 weeks later, almost $500 more in the hole with two sessions from a different salon who has finally gotten my hair back to WHERE I STARTED. I wish for in the future this stylist to please, if it's something that they cannot accomplish, to be up front with the client from the get go. read more

I've been searching for many years for a great hairstylist and I found my girl Melissa she is the best I've ever found. She knows exactly what I want without me even saying anything I love the way she knows her colors and does the best highlights I ever had. She is very sweet and kind fun to chat with while getting your hair done she gives my head a deep massage while shampooing and conditioning my hair. I have never been to a salon before and I just got my hair cut here by Tasmyn and I am SO HAPPY with how everything went and how my hair came out! My hair was almost down to my waist and I got it cut to just below my collar bone so it was pretty dramatic for me and I was nervous, but Tasmyn went nice and slow and kept checking with how the length was till we got to the shortness I desired and I've never felt happier with a cut! Nicole! I'm not saying that people with other colors of hair don't know a good hair stylist, but when you are a bleached blonde you have higher standers when it comes to your color. When I came into this salon 4? 5? years ago I was box bleaching my hair. I was awful. I was so brassy I looked like a 80's bed post. Yeah, I told you it was bad. I simply asked from someone good with blondes. Alicia made me an appointment with Nicole and the rest is history. She is amazing with her work. Rachel Streeter is pretty rad. Coming fresh off the $5 "lawnmower" cut from fantastic sams, I was more than willing to part with $30 bucks for someone to treat these fiery red locks with the love they deserve. Totally recommend her. The salon is pretty cool too. I don't feel like a total douche when going to "a salon" like I think I would elsewhere. Anyhow, man up and call the place. Ask for Rachel. I've found my hairstylist! Tasymn was great. She really listened to what I envisioned and wanted for my crazy curly hair and achieved just that. I have found that not a lot of people can work their way around my thick curly hair, but she did a wonderful job while being very friendly and letting me relax during my stay.
