Twin Scissors - My beautiful hair by Michelle - Hair Salons Near Me - Poway, California

I've been to this salon twice and twice I didn't get what I asked for. 1st time I asked for partial highlights which I've been getting for 3 years. Michelle said she wouldn't do it because my hair was dry. I was still getting used to the water since moving here. Fine. Instead she put in dark color over my existing highlights. Not what I would have chosen but again I stupidly said fine. All while her dog is roaming the salon barking its ass off. Went in yesterday for partial highlights. Two dogs barking and walking around the salon. Michelle took time out of my appointment to dry someone's hair, rinse two more people out, and do some tape in extensions. She didn't give me partial highlights, she gave me face framing highlights with just bleach that she quickly threw on. She didn't tone me so now the highlights are somewhat orange. I know a rush job when I see it. Not what I asked for the second time either. Too much commotion, way too many animals in a professional business and not enough attention to the actual client except to push jewelry that the manicurist (she is very sweet) was selling, telling her I wanted it when I never said such a thing. Never coming back and I don't recommend Michelle. read more

I almost never leave reviews, but this place was so amazing that I had to make an exception. Shelly and Skylar were friendly and welcoming the second I walked in. On top of that, my haircut turned out perfect. I will 100% be coming back in the future. read more

Yikes!!! Not inclusive for SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN. I made two appointments for my neurodiverse sons for this Saturday. When I said that I had found the salon's name through an autism resources list the owner squawked, "Oh no! I've got to get off of that list! (Hairdresser's name) doesn't do that anymore!" Me: Doesn't do what? Give haircuts? Owner: No! Do hair for autistic kids! (Tells me how a stylist got cut because a kid was crying and having behaviors.) O_o No lie. I'm stunned. She tried to backpedal and apologized but there's no coming back from that level of ignorance, prejudice.and discrimination. I thought I would share so no one goes there thinking this is a welcoming place for special families. read more

Shelly and crew are friendly, talented, and very customer focused! Highly recommend this business!

NATALIE PAXTON. She is amazing. Came in for a free shampoo and blowout and she made me feel so good. Her attention to detail is beyond any other stylist I've sat with. She always takes care of her clients and makes sure you leave happy! She does blondes better than anyone I know. Oh, and her hair extension game is on point too. Show her some love and make sure you book with her. You will never change stylists again. Promise! read more

I'm still in tears. Worst haircut I've ever had. She wasn't even going to charge me because I was crying. I was in shock and paid her and I want my money back. DO NOT GO HERE. My hairstylist was Johnny. I will be updating this as the many days/months go by to see the progress of the grow out of this horrible travesty that was done by supposedly an educated hairstylist. You are way better off and where I should have gone to Salon Avalon in Mission Hills where I went in September and the stylist actually listened to what I asked. And spent 45 of the 60 minute appointment educating me on the best cuts for my very thin and fine hair type. Her name was Atoosa and her phone number is 619-297-2200. I refuse to speak of someone who does horrible work anymore. Atoosa does great work! Call her! I'd have her fix my hair but you can't pick it up off the floor and put it back on your head. Lame girl. read more

Michelle took care of my mom and I, my mom got a normal trim and I asked for shorter face framing pieces blended in. She finished both of our hair in under an hour. She was rough with the brush and hit me in the eye multiple times while messily combing through. My hair is choppy and absolutely butchered not blended. I need to go somewhere else to get this fixed. She was very messy and did not stop to check her work, otherwise she would've realized. read more

Terri Lucero has been doing my hair and she is pure MAGIC! Love her and the salon. I recommend Terri for all your hair needs.

Love love this place!! My grandmother has been going here for 15 years and loves it. And now my favorite hairdresser Brittany is there so myself, my mom, my daughter and grandmother get there hair done here. They also do nails, facials and waxing. Great place for all your beauty needs. read more

I've been getting my eyelash extensions and waxing done by Diedre for about 9 months now. I'm very pleased with the comfort and atmosphere. Diedre is a consummate professional and keeps me looking pretty! Katie is only there to do hair a couple of days a month, but I won't let anyone else touch my hair! She is accomplished at precision haircuts and a color expert! read more

I would give Shelly at Twin Scissors 10 stars if it were possible! She always does great color and cuts, and when I brought in a picture of a hairdo to duplicate, she did it exactly. And, her salon is fun! read more

I've been going to Shelly Isreal (Michelle) at Twin Scissors for many years. She's been in Poway for a long time and her longivity thru these difficult times proves that. She stays current on style and color and other aspects of the business. Shelly does a lot of "pro-bono' type of work as well, helping where her services will make a difference in the community of Poway. I always have people ask me where I get my hair done and I know that has to be because Shelly does such a great job. read more

Brittany, my stylist, just moved to this salon and rents a chair there. She is FANTASTICC. The salon is so nice and peaceful. Love it!

Terri Lucero and I used to work together in the hair industry years ago. I got out of it and continued to go to Terri when she was at the HC Store and finally branched out on her own. It has been years! She knows what I want done and I can trust her to do it. I am never disappointed. It is hard to make a natural brunette look like a natural blonde but she does. read more

I've been coming to this salon and seeing Michelle regularly for 6 years now. The first day I stepped into Twin Scissors (from a Costco reference no less) I felt like family and nothing has changed. Michelle is very talented- she does my highlights better than any hairdresser I've ever had. My cut always turns out exactly how I want it! She did all the hair dos for my wedding, and when my mom was sick - she even took time out of her Sunday to come to the hospital and do her hair, just to help make her feel a little better. Michelle is flexible and the price is right - I've paid a lot more for a lot less! If you're looking for a place to come regularly and leave feeling fabulous, Twin Scissors is it! read more

I come here to see Diedre. She's the one who does my facials. I've been seeing her for about a year now! She has definitely cleared up my blemishes! I started and is still on the microdermabrasion program to clear up and unclog my skin. So far great results and my skin is more clean and lighter in complexion! Every time I see her she does a great job of explaining how everything works and the products she offers is amazing! I will never use over the counter products to clean my face ever again! read more

I'm keeping it short & simple . This IS the place if u want 2 get the best haircuts n SD. I completely recommend Joni (stylist) or Shelly (owner & stylist) 4 the best haircare period. Staff is totally relaxed & very cool. ALWAYS worth every penny! read more

Wow! We, family of 5, walk in to get my 14 year old a trim and see if worth being regulars. Two stylists look at us as I ask if they have the time for her trim, they say thy both have clients coming in 10 minutes so I ask about tomorrow and they proceed to say they are again completely booked. As my family is walking out they were rudely laughing. You just lost a family of 5's business! read more

I did not receive a facial or service from Diedre, but I came in to buy 302 product from her. First off, she's a doll!! She stayed after her last appointment to accommodate me and spoke to me about which products would be great for me and my concerns. She even gave me a little zap on some problem areas and several samples of product she wanted me to try. I'm be back for a service for sure !!! Thanks Diedre! read more

Tucked away just off of the main street. You'd could easily miss this jewel! Great happy, comfortable atmosphere ! Great servcie, hair, nails, facials, just about everything you need for a "me day"! Shelly is wonderful ~~ top quality, flexible schedule and efficent, too!! I love this place :) read more

Diedre is an AMAZING esthetician. I have "mature skin" and never had facials until I met Diedre. Now I go once a month and the texture of my skin has improved dramatically with my new regimen and the use of the 302 products she sells. Diedre's personality is warm and nurturing and her treatment room is very clean and comfortable but .... not sound proof : ) The salon is very busy and full of fun energy which on occasion spills over into the room but, Diedre does a wonderful job masking it with soothing music. She gives the best neck and shoulder massage as part of your facial. I love my time with Diedre and I know you will too!! read more
