Huge fail! Burned to crisp! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My daughter went in for an updo for her sr prom. She saw Azadeh Motamedi, a newer stylist, but supposedly had decades of experience and thus she was trusted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She burned, fried!!, her long beautiful hair to a point of strands falling off!!! When asked about it, she was told it was normal and when asked for a refund, she was offered a deep conditioner..!! As if that would make anything better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To top it off, the OWNER Amparo threatened to call the police if she didn't leave the salon and stopped asking for refund.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Very disappointing for long term customers at this local salon. Andria did a wonderful job on my cut and color. My only complaint is the price here is high. Cut and color is $165, plus double process for my already highlighted ends was extra $70. They did honor the yelp check in for first time customers 10% discount. Overall service was great. I think Andria was more seasoned at cutting than at coloring, but that's ok, people have to start somewhere. I got what I asked for and will be back. read more

Just a bad haircut, not sure if my hair stylist actually knows how to cut curtain bangs. At one point after cutting them, she even said "don't look at them right now". And then proceeded to turn my chair so I was not facing the mirror for the majority of the haircut. She then tried to style them when I asked her to fix them and just couldn't get the styling right either. I just donated my hair to Wigs For Kids. Thought it would be a good thing and had gone to this salon months ago and was told to come back in couple months. I came back , different people and I thought it was the same deal. You donate your hair and they cut your hair. I travel from Orange County to poway and it was a very convenient spot to get my haircut when here for meetings. Unfortunately, on a trip previously, I booked an appointment due to a tight meeting schedule in the area and when I arrived, was told that my appointment was delayed. It was a bummer that it kept on getting delayed up to 40 minutes after my originally scheduled appointment. So rather than waiting since I had to make another meeting, I left. No apologies from strands at the time. It's a bummer. I lose out on a nice place to get my haircut for a lack of professional courtesy while strands (and a talented stylist) loses out on a client willing to be committed and consistently visit. read more

Went in yesterday for a trim and fresh layers - nothing complicated. My hair is naturally curly and blonde level 7-8 with 40's grey growing in. I talked to Rebecca about blending in partial highlights to hide the gray and that I did not want low lights because I did not want any color added. She suggested I try a "gloss" that "does not deposit any color." After assuring me it would only brighten my hair and make my curls even springier I acquiesced. I am here to report that that was a gross misrepresentation of the product she used and what it does. At the wash bowl she left to "mix color" which was an instant red flag. When she returned and started applying it I asked if it was a purple gloss, since she said it would brighten my hair. "No, I am using ash." Alarmed, I told her my light blonde will grab ash and she said she knows and that's why she used a spray on the ends of my hair so it wouldn't grab. Oh, it grabbed. Suffice to say, my hair is now a ~level 5 "blonde" - a gray blonde. My car color is Volcanic Ash and my husband said my hair matches it. Even better, I run corporate events at 2 of the largest global tech companies and I have shows this month and next. With ashy hair that now only has limp waves. Since I know going back to Rebecca will do nothing but yield sad apologies and even more damage to my hair, I will go elsewhere for help. (Note, she is very nice and I think she intended to do something right but isn't quite competent to do it.) Learning: there is a reason it's so easy to get an appointment here. I have been going to Strands for almost 3 years now and was devastated to learn my stylist was out for an extended period of time. In the past I have had trouble finding a stylist who is good at cutting short hair in a layered pixie style (I call it the Kris Jenner style) and Amparo was recommended by my stylist. Amparo has a true gift and a passion for her work. Amparo cut and colored my hair my hair a couple of weeks ago weeks ago and I absolutely love it!!! She listened to the issues I have and did an amazing job on the cut and showed me how to blow dry it to style it perfectly. She also changed the color slightly making it warmer and richer. He shows his talents with actions, confidence and poise. I hadn't gotten my hair cut in over a year, because I cut it really short and wanted to grow it out.
