This isn't worth 600$!!! Did a full blonde service it turned super dark on the top and in the inside, it looks faded and that I need to renew the color. Got it done 3 days ago so this is fresh. The color looks faded and wasn't the shade I asked for. Also, in the beginning it was uneven, and I had to ask to fix it and I felt like a burden when I did. The lady told me she doesn't have time now (even though I left the salon five minutes before I came back) so I told her I'm coming back to town in two weeks because I flew out especially to get my hair done and she said she doesn't know how it's gonna grow out in two weeks so she'll see if she could get it fixed now. All I could think when she said that was did I really just spent $600 on something that might start to grow out in only two weeks??? also there's not much of a difference between before and after my hair, every time I told her I wanted something done specifically she told me she was used to doing a different way and that's how she's gonna do it so I felt like I wasn't really heard as well. Besides all that the lady that did my hair was really nice. But- Super super disappointed. Now I'm gonna have to go somewhere else and pay extra money to get it fixed the way I wanted to. More reviews like mine would have saved me my money for sure, which is why I'm writing this. Do not recommend with my personal experience. Esmeralda did an amazing job transforming my hair into a color I loved. I felt very pampered. I was visiting from Illinois so it was a one time treat to myself. I couldn't imagine paying the cost on a regular basis but it was fun to visit while in San Diego. read more

Have to update this review cause I can't believe it's been over 2 years since coming to Style Lounge! Unfortunately Jules moved so I had to find another stylist for haircut/color and I cannot say enough good things about Katie and Kinsey!!! I started seeing Katie for my color once Jules left and she legit CRUSHES it every time!!! Her work is perfect and she is just the sweetest. My hair looks incredible every time I leave the salon! Kinsey was actually assisting Katie a while back when she was doing my color so I started seeing her for haircuts and she is the best!! She is so sweet and really takes her time to understand what you want - great attention to detail as well. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the stylists here. I absolutely loved my experience here!! Found my new most favorite salon in SD and what is probably going to be my staple now. GORGEOUS SPACE -- I know they recently got renovated/expanded and the interiors are amazing! Decor is well thought-of and consistent with the brand AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE -- From the booking to the days leading up to my appointment, communication between me and the team was on-point. They made sure to match me to a stylist that would be an expert to my need. I got matched with sweet Sylvia who even sent me a text message the day before reminding me about how parking can get rough because it's a gameday. She was an absolute sweetheart as well who made me feel so at ease the whole process and nailed the pegs I gave her! VALUE FOR MONEY -- For a first time customer, I was a little bit intimidated to come in because I know places like this might charge higher than normal but my overall quote was actually just as I expected. I would say they're at par with most salon's pricing! They also used high-quality products on my hair from the beginning to the very end. This is long overdue. If you've been looking for a stylist-- particularly one that takes you from dark to light-- look no more. Rosie is your girl. She's been keeping my dark Asian hair blonde for a months now and I'm loving it more and more after every visit. She's really great with educating clients on how to maintain healthy hair; I really contribute my healthy hair to her extra tips. The salon itself is a complete vibe. It's beautiful, clean, and definitely adds to the entire experience. They even offer refreshments like really fun alcoholic options! You can tell that they care about the details in the salon. Which can easily be forgotten when the salon houses so many separate small businesses run by different stylist. I definitely recommend putting yourself on Rosie's waitlist. If you are looking for great color in San Diego, this is the place. I am from Los Angeles so have high standards for my blonde balayage and Katie Petitte delivers! I have been seeing her for over two years every 2-3 months. She is the greatest, you will never have a better blonde coloring no matter what shade you want she's taken me lighter and darker blonde and it's all incredible. They recently redid and expanded their salon and it is beautiful and always clean. Once you get into a colorist you like making appointments is easy, you just make your next appointment while you're in the chair. I feel like the pricing is incredibly fair for the quality of color you are getting. Katie Petitte (I think there is more than one Katie) is so talented and SWEET. She is just a doll. Her two assistants are also little angels and do wonderful work and Jana gives a great blow out. They take their time here and it shows and the results are beautiful. I really appreciate I am never waiting for my appointment, I'm always sat right on time or early. They use high end products that I would use at home, Oribe, k18, etc. love this place! read more

Been coming to Style Lounge for 6 years and honestly i dont think i can go anywhere else! I love how the stylists are always being educated with new techniques and skills. Hannah is my stylist and I love her. She always listens to my hair goals and gets me there! The front desk staff are very nice and welcoming. Also, Im obsessed with how they renovated their whole place. It is absolutely beautiful. People are complaining about the price but you get what you pay for. Good hair is not cheap and I definitely don't mind spending all my ca$h with them. read more

Another amazing hair experience by a hair god, Eric! It's been over a year since I had gotten my hair done due to COVID and I reallyyyy needed it. Tried a while ago, then we were shutdown, so it got put off again.... Finally got an appointment after much too long and I'm so happy. He did an amazing job, even better than the last time I was here. I have fine, thin texture hair and he knows how to handle it. He really listens to how you want your hair and he delivers gorgeous results. I got a full balayage with a trim. The balayage is blended so beautifully with the exact color I wanted. Gabe (My hair god, My color chemist, & My magic hands) Ive gone to Gabe for the past year and he has exceed my expectations every time. I leave speechless after every appointment. When I first started my hair journey with Gabe I asked him to take my hair blonde but to keep the integrity of my hair along the process. Before him no colorist could make me blonde without turning my hair orange, brassy, & frying it. To the point that I almost gave up on trying to go light. Gabe assure me that I was in good hands. He explained the whole process from the mixing of the colors to the tones my hair pulls. He only promised what he could deliver. His passion truly shows through his work. I am forever grateful to have put my trust in him with my hair. I've even recommended him to friends that now go to see him. Thank you Gabe for making me feel beautiful every time I leave. Solely leaving a review as a potential new customer and what the level of customer service was to come here. I ended up inquiring about a stylist and coming to get my hair done for a haircut and eventually balayage. As the reviews state it's probably the most expensive salon in the city, but lots of positive reviews so that was highly encouraging. The front desk ended up giving me a good recommendation for an alternative stylist. It took awhile to find a time that worked because I work during normal business hours but they were able to get me in somewhat reasonable hour but had to move around my schedule and cancel a workout class to accommodate. I booked at 2:40pm and received a confirmation email at 4:00pm. It was not noted on that call that they require a credit card to hold the appointment, but they ended up nonchalantly throwing that in the email. I saw the email after they closed so cool no worries I'll call in the morning. I ended up calling in when they opened the next day to give my billing over the phone but told me my appointment was taken. So a few things here: poor communication, and VERY ILLEGAL request of my credit card information. Here's the email request to send my credit card information via TEXT or EMAIL! Merchants should NEVER EVER ask for your information this way. EVER. It violates the PCI DDS for any merchant that accepts credit cards. "In order to secure your appointment we will need the following (feel free to call or text us if that's better for you 619-501-6821): First and last name Cell phone number Credit card number including the EXPIRATION, CVV and BILLING ZIP CODE" **UPDATE** The response of the owner just shows their ignorance. To allude that I am less-than and outside their "luxury clientele" (who happily text their credit cards) is unfortunate and demeaning. But a stark reflection of their business brand. "Your poor or we think your poor so go somewhere else, you're not worth our time." Yikes. The intent of the review was to highlight the struggles as a new potential client to pay your business to work with your talented stylist. As a result you lost my business. There was a misstep in your business model and that doesn't fall on the client. Even though you claim otherwise. I'm sure I'm just catching the business at a bad time but it's so disheartening to see such a cold response in this pandemic. Everyone is struggling. The response from the owner solidifies that I wouldn't want my money spent here. My peasant money** read more

I was super excited to get my hair done by Dani Burgos. Unfortunately, I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time and checked in at the front to see how much longer it would be. They advised it would be another 5 to 10 minutes. I ended up waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time when I decided to leave. This was unacceptable and super unprofessional. I never received any apology. It was such a bummer as I was really looking forward to the service. have been getting hand tied extensions for 3 years, once my stylist moved away I decided to try style lounge because thier instagram looked awesome. My stylist was really nice, but my bottom row fell out a week later. She let me come in and fix it. However, a week afer that a "k tip" fell out, she used the K tip infusion mehtod to frame my face, and it ended up pulling out my real hair! I messaged my stylist and its been 12 days with no response. As I wasnt going to go in to fix one K tip ... of course my top row started to fall out a week after that... Hand tied extensions are suppose to last at least 6 weeks. I decided to reach out to the salon to let them know, and sent them pictures. The response i got was "A manager will treach out to you shortly". No one offered for me to come in and fix it? I paid over $1400 for these extensions and I still havent heard from a manager and I am asking for some sort of refund. I goot my hair done 10/8, its now 11/3. Havent even had them for a month. After to speaking to some other girls who have had the same problem, I have been told they dont offer to fix or refund when people reach out. I understand mistakes happen but your girl cant be walking around with half a row out.. UPDATE 11/15- The owner called me 3 days later on the day i posted this review. Asked if i needed it fixed but i already found a great stylist at Lawa Meraki the street, aparently where all the girls go who have had issues at style lounge. They tightened my rows and its since been 3 weeks and they are still in tight (yay). The owner tried to refund me $300 for my entire service when the down payment alone was $700. After going back on fourth if I brush my hair too hard (lol) she finally told me she would refund me $1,000 ONLY if i take this review down and i am not allowed to ever step foot in the salon again. Weird tactic but i will not be stepping foot in this salon again. read more

I really am a fan of this salon. I was very impressed by the beautiful hair & work I have seen. My stylist was delightful & sweet. She did as I asked to fix the ends of my hair to not having it look like a broom (which is the the look I arrived with). However, my hair was also thinned out & I didn't Ask for that. I explained the incident to the receptionist and she told me "that's the look we do here." ....... That may be so, but I didn't Ask or Pay for it. (My hair is up to my waist & it took me 2 years of to grow it to that length. It took a lot of Patience for me to get the look I desired. I know hair will grow back, I just don't know anyone who looks Foward to waiting to go through that process again) I didn't want to get my stylist in trouble as she was so sweet and she made my experience at the hair salon comfortable & I did enjoy my experience & our convo there. But, I also wanted to stand up for myself about my hair....as I'm learning as well to not be a people pleaser. *I am surprised I didn't hear back from the Salon owners consoling the situation. As I believe it was a pretty big deal. I don't think I will be returning. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Ally C.

My journey to this exciting venture began with working as a traveling educator for Halocouture Extensions, one of the industry leaders in extensions. This experience introduced me to the world of hair, and created my passion for hair education. I worked as a stylist for years attending workshops with some of the world's best artists and finally made the step to own my own salon while also educating other stylists on color + extension methods. Now offering my own line at the salon, Style Lux Extensions, has been a full circle moment for me. It is a privilege to release a luxury hair extension line of my own. Uyen added extensions and created a gorgeous bronde color. Over the years we've tried different looks, from very blonde to closer to my natural dark blonde, and I loved it every time! What impressed me the most is how healthy my hair stayed the entire time. After wearing extensions for over two years, I took them out for a while and my natural hair actually looked about 30% thicker than before (The thickest it has ever been). I just got a new set of extensions again and absolutely love them. I went from short hair to almost waist length, and this time we did wavy extensions to match my natural texture. It came out beautifully - the color matches perfectly and it looks very natural, even when I let my hair air dry without styling. Uyen is incredibly attentive and works very meticulously. She really listens and takes the time to make everything blend perfectly. I used to get my haircut from the owner, Freddy, who seemed to do a really good job at cutting, while also seemingly personable and talking to me about my day, and what's been going on. As time went on though, and considering how far I would have to drive to downtown and get a haircut, things started to fall off. I would always make sure to put myself down for an appointment but I would often have to wait for another client who he would be running over with on time. Once maybe twice is okay (I went for around 10 appointments or so), but it was pretty much every time I went I had to wait an extra 5-15 minutes before I was in the chair. Some haircuts turned out really good, and others were a little sloppy and seemed rushed since he was already over on his time and had to compensate somewhere, which I guess was sometimes me. I also went to try out the perm hairstyle and got it done by Sheila, but the perm was $200~ and ended up only lasting maybe 2-3 months despite delicate care in the process to make it stay longer. The way she did it also didn't seem to be the best since a lot of the curls were really loose even though I told her I wanted it to last a while (especially considering the price). Maybe I was the one-off that ended up not staying or looking good with perms, but I was pretty disappointed with it. Only thing I can really note that was good was that I think it helped with some texturing of my hair to not be so straight all the time. I believe the vibe of this location is good, but definitely got loud since they shared the space with 2 other businesses and also had a gym studio move in above them causing a lot of extra noise. I'm seeing now they have a new location (I only went to the old spot) which would make this issue hopefully non-existent. Since I always went out of my way to come get my haircut here, it was showing some serious diminishing returns compared to just finding a location closer which I eventually did after I moved. I believe Freddy and his team will continue to have success, but I will not be coming here anymore due to repeated issues I was having.

Also I referred several people and she charged me $150 more than the people I referred. I always tip 20%. I'm so glad this happened because when she was told not to worry about it I found someone to fix my hair. She asked if I wanted to come in on Tuesday when she's known for 12 years I work 12 hour days. I had no expectations of her coming in but she offered to take then out but would not put them back in. The style lounge salon is by far the best salon I have ever had the opportunity to go to and plan on going back. The entire staff is extremely professional and experienced and were extremely impressive to work with. I had the honor of having Lyndsey do my hair and I have gotten the most flattering compliments because of it. I showed her some photos from Pinterest and she made suggestions on how we could use my ideas to make them work for me. I also had my nails done by Meredith who was so sweet to work with! We had some great conversation and she really knew how to relax me and make me feel comfortable. To complete my makeover, Bri did my makeup and let me just say that her creativity and abilities are amazing. I would recommend her to anyone for their special events or any makeup advise. I even had the opportunity to spend time with the owner of the salon, Randi. After meeting her, I completely understood how her staff is so amazing. She truly runs her business with the best mindset- to make individuals feel like their best selves when they leave the salon. I know I personally left feeling beautiful and still do! Ive been going to this salon for a little over a year now and I love it. I HIGHLY reccommend going to Ally. She always does a fantastic job. After moving to San Diego I was in search for a new hair dresser. I tried out this new hairdresser in la jolla and it was alright the first time but the second time she absolutly destroyed my hair and turned it orange right after she dyed it. After waiting about a year to dye my hair again, I decided to go to Ally. After being tramatized by my most recent experience, I was pretty nervous. However, after showing Ally pictures and telling her what i wanted she did a far better job than I could have expected. My hair dresser before I moved to San Diego was a little cheaper but the color and cut that ally gives is by far superior. I dont mind spending a little extra and It is far worth it in my opinion for the quality work she does. I now pretty much just tell her I want to go lighter and let her have free reign for the most part. Super excited for my next appointment! This salon is in a great location. I've lived in the San Diego area on and off for 26 years, and I've been to a few hair stylists. Now that I live in the Gaslamp district, I decided to visit Style Lounge Salon. I made an appointment for color with a hairstylist, Caroline. When I arrived the next day, Caroline was waiting for me with a big smile. Since I travel a lot, my hair sees many stylists, and as usual I was a bit apprehensive. Caroline patiently listened to me, analyzed my hair, and with a big confident smile told me: "I know what to do." She did exactly what I wished. Perfect color and fantastic style. I'm very happy. I have thick wavy hair that is about mid-way down my back. I've also had several run in's with Edward scissors hands. Therefore, I am very picky with who cuts and styles my hair. A friend of mine introduced me to Rose when she worked at Inga Salon. I was lucky that she still hung around East Village and I love her new spot at Style Lounge. It's a bigger more comforting spot and fits Rose perfectly. Rose is a fashionably great stylist and actually listens to her clients requests. She also is up to date on the hottest trends and will add in her two cents, but doesn't push you into agreeing. Being that Rose is African American she handles Asian hair with finesse and can do wonders with color. I was having a horrible day at my last appointment, but found a parking spot right out front AGAIN! And by the end of my color and cut, I forgot all about my drama. They just make it such a pleasant experience. I have never been disappointed and love my hair every time. My hair even got complimented by a lady behind me last week in a line and I was so excited to recommend Style Lounge. Vey excited that I came here and checked it out. They cut my hair really nice, and allowed me to do so on a great budget. I worked with Amanda, and she really knew what she was doing. I decided on keeping my bangs this time because of her recommendation. The inside of the store is pretty nice and all the people working were also very nice. One thing I didn't like was the bathroom was a bit difficult to get to, but I find that to be the case at most of the hair saloons. I think I'll be coming back here, I'll probably be a regular. I recently moved to East Village and my friend recommended Caroline at Style Lounge. I recently got my hair done and she did a beyond amazing job. I typically just get either an all over color or partial highlights but I told Caroline I wanted to switch it up and she could do whatever she thought would look good. I got my hair styled by Caroline 3 weeks ago. She did the most beautiful blowout and I walked out of the salon feeling like a supermodel. I was so impressed with the volume and body because my hair is so long. I thought it would be too heavy to get the look I wanted but she got the exact look I wanted for my hair. It can always be a bit nerve-wracking finding a new hairstylist in a new city but I'm SO HAPPY I found Caroline Palmieri! She is the absolute sweetest and did a fantastic job on my cut/color. The salon was very nice, the staff were very polite and welcoming. (Most of them anyway.) They offer wine which is always a plus. When he finally arrived, he was completely unapologetic and behaved like a bully. The service is increasingly unprofessional--including disregarding my preferred style, the towels served were dirty, and hovering over me for a higher tip. I will not tolerate paying a large sum of money to be mistreated, and I cannot recommend a business where basic respect is entirely absent.

Larry completely evened it out and turned my hair bright silver which I didn't think was possible. What's even crazier is my hair has never really looked healthier!!!. Kree is not only a great colorist (my blonde is on point and always get compliments), she's also an amazing stylist and always knows the new trends and what works for my hair. Tried to book again online still pending. Called multiple times and was put on hold or hung up on. Finally someone said they would get back to me and never did. No has reached out. The website won't let me withdraw or cancel the pending request within 24 hours even though it hasnt been accepted. My experience trying to set up this appointment felt very disorganized and unprofessional and my business was not valued at all. Booking a hair appointment should not be this difficult and never had this type of issue anywhere else before.
