This is a great salon to say the least! 100% because of my stylist Kree. Well, I do also like that they serve wine when you walk in and the location is great. Front desk guy is awesome! Kree is not only a great colorist (my blonde is on point and always get compliments), she's also an amazing stylist and always knows the new trends and what works for my hair. She's been doing my hair since I was in my early 20's (I'm 50 now). I've moved away a couple times and when I come back I always need my Kree fix to make me beautiful. Even better is that she loves her job and is always happy, positive, and vibrant. Anyone would be lucky to have her as their hair girl! read more

I tried all day to get an appointment scheduled online and with multiple calls. It was pending all day long until I called and looked into it and ended up being denied minutes after the call with no follow up to reschedule or reasoning as to why it was denied. Tried to book again online still pending. Called multiple times and was put on hold or hung up on. Finally someone said they would get back to me and never did. No has reached out. The website won't let me withdraw or cancel the pending request within 24 hours even though it hasnt been accepted. My experience trying to set up this appointment felt very disorganized and unprofessional and my business was not valued at all. Booking a hair appointment should not be this difficult and never had this type of issue anywhere else before. I was excited to come here so this is very disappointing but now I will be going to another salon read more

I make an appointment with Marcelo , I drove 30 min to arrive on time ! And he did a mistake and booked me for hair cut instead of highlights He didn't have time to do the highlights so he sent back home !!! When I asked the front desk if there is anyone els cause I'm already there they told me no sorry . Unbelievable! No matter how good you are if your customer service is sucks it's not worth it!!! read more

Natalie is amazing! Took a chance and came to her for the first time today and she nailed it! I rarely leave reviews, but know how hard it is to find good hair stylist who can also do great balayage and blonde, so hopefully if someone else is looking for a new stylist, this review will help. She was very thoughtful about the process and my hair looks great, even with the added blonde and my hair not being in the best condition. She was very careful and again, the blond turned out amazing. And she's so sweet and very warm. She has a new client from here on out. Definitely recommend! read more

I am so happy that Karaline Nichole is at this salon!! I used to go to her when I lived in the East Bay Area up near San Francisco. I was so bummed to not have my hair done by her when I moved to San Diego. Then to my happy surprise, she moved to San Diego and started working at Cut! Cut has gained a rockstar. I am always so in love when Karaline does my hair. She is truly kind and makes you feel beautiful. She really listens to what you want and delivers above and beyond. My hair feels so healthy after I get a cut with Karaline. I was just stopped by a woman the other day asking if my hair color was natural and I said "Nope! Partial highlight by Karaline at the salon Cut in downtown." She was shocked because it looks so natural. I am happy every time I leave Cut. The women at the front desk are so polite, greet you right away and say goodbye when you leave. You are offered a beverage during your appointment which is such a nice gesture. The stylists are so sweet to each other and when they are passing by they stop and compliment each others work. I love the art that they have around the salon. The parking is street parking and metered parking. I usually go on Wednesday mornings and have no trouble at all finding a parking spot out front. Once you are through the doors you go up some stairs and it is on your left. Gorgeous salon, kind employees, I can't recommend Karaline Nichole enough! read more

To blame homeless people for the problem is ridiculous. The salon has no right to throw all of its trash into a city trash can, daily. Pay for trash pickup like the rest of the city. Yet again, salon trash all over the sidewalk. No excuse for this. read more

Kree is exceptional in the world of hair design. In my continuous search, it's been difficult to find a creative hair stylist. Her dedication, passion and honesty is refreshing. Whether it be a cut that still looks good 8 weeks later, or the ability to pick up subtle nuances and create a complete makeover, Kree listens intently, delivering an unbeatable experience. If you love a long luxurious scalp and shoulder massage, Kree has that mastered as well. She's not insecure about her abilities either. Once, I had brought her a photo of how I wanted to look. She most generously referred me to another hair dresser who she felt would be better suited for the job. This warm, welcoming woman, stands out in every way. A true treasure in the industry! read more

Don't go here! While the stylists may be good, they have horrible customer policy. We had a situation where a dental appt was running late and and we had to reschedule for later in the day which they did. Before second appt, we called to say we are in traffic and would be there 15 minutes behind, and they said come on in. We get there and stylist left, even with the warning. After saying we wanted our deposit back for showing up and stylist not being there, they said this was our fault for being late, and that we owed them. It would be one thing if we didn't show at all, it would be one thing if we showed up late with no warning, it would be one thing if they said don't come in because stylist can do job losing 15 minutes, but none of this was true. After speaking with owner, I was shocked he would be petty and argue about $35 but preferred to defend a stylist who couldn't wait after being told we were late, instead of protecting their own business and arguing with customers.... Also, the owner tried to say I was petty when in fact he is petty and frankly running a scam .... There are far better shops / salons etc in the area , pls don't support this behavior /// nice reply Rafael. Filled with lies.... You are unprofessional and your staff told us to come in when your stylist was not there.... And then try to make us this story.... Pathetic. All you had to do was the right thing, but instead you have decided that you'd rather get a bad review here and try to fight with your lie. read more

Have to say hands down the best experience I have ever had at a new place this year, yet alone a new hair salon. Need to start of by saying how easy it was to schedule an appointment, after a lot of searching for a new hair goddess I was able to find this place. It was simple to schedule as I went online you pick a date and they give you so many options of who's available that day and times... no need to be clicking back and fourth. Convenient location, plenty of parking metered and non metered. Was greeted by two wonderful ladies in the front who took my temp and asked if I wanted something to drink. Then they gave me a robe and they have the cutest little coat closet . I made an appointment with Raphael who was the most polite and outgoing owner I have came across. He was able to talk me out of bangs which was a good thing before I looked like a cartoon character, and was able to help me choose a style that suits my face. He was able to show me some ropes of how to style my hair and have fun with it. Let me tell you I didn't find a hair goddess but definitely found a hair god. I am so glad I gave this place a chance and the views that this location has ....amazing! When I was done with my appointment I was checked out by his daughter which she was just the sweetest just like her dad and everyone I came across at CUT. Definitely this is the place to go for amazing hair and will be going back!!! read more

I can't give this place enough accolades! The salon was located in an ideal part of town - plenty of street parking available if you want to drive - also centrally located if you are up for a walk! The salon is spacious and very clean! They were super welcoming upon my arrival and although I was early- they were able to see me right away! Natalie Hornyak cut my hair and she was amazing - aside from being the sweetest and easiest to talk to she knew her stuff! I have thick Jewish hair and she navigated through it like a champion! After my hair was perfectly cut she styled it just right for me. I would recommend her to everyone she really listens to what you want and is not going to chop your hair off. If you're looking for a pro request Natalie - she's affordable and great!! You can book online which is also a great benefit read more

I've been in San Diego for 2 years and have struggled with finding the right place for my hair. I had recently had my hair done at a different salon and needed a fix and fast! I searched and searched and damn near internet stalked him. Guy has a great fan base and his reviews on social media do not lie. I went in with a brassy balayage and came out a winner 3 hours later. He's easy to talk to and after expressing my desire to go GrayHe also checked in on me a couple of days later to see how my color was coming along! The salon is inviting and friendly. They make fresh coffee and the shampoo chairs are the best I've sat in. Parking wasn't an issue (meter). They also carry Oribe products (the dry hair shampoo is awesome!) read more

Cut - My brassy hair (another salon) fixed by Guy. He's a great listener. You won't be disappointed. - Hair Salons Near Me - San Diego, California

I did alot of research, being new to the san diego area, and I came across this hair salon THE CUT on yelp, and read a lot of good reviews for this certain hair stylist, (Thu Nguyen) her reviews had a lot to do with the Ombre hair style. I waited for about 3 weeks to get my hair done with Thu Nguyen, she was always booked, the day finally came, my hair was chopped to my shoulder blades, and then was Ombre Bleached. The process took 6 1/2 hrs for the lift and cut, the end result was a shocking dull gray sandy color. I was very unhappy. Thu knew i was unhappy when she saw the look of horror on my face when I finally saw my hair. Thu mentioned I would have to come back to get it lifted more, but this was the best she could do at this point. I asked why was it so gray instead of blond and she said the the toner was put in my hair to pull out the bronze/orange color from the original dark brown color of my hair. However, the toner actually turned my hair silver old lady gray (literally). Thu's next available appointment would be a month from now that day, but then she said she could probably get me in in two weeks. I was so frustrated, disappointed, and embarrassed with the end result. In addition, I was caught off guard by the price, considering I was walking out with almost all gray hair. $250 Ombre Full Head Long Hair (hair cut to just below shoulders.) In the end, $50 Toner (which turned my hair gray) and a haircut for an additional cost. If I wouldn't have complained the next day, this hair stylist would have been fine with this being the end result. That was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I returned home and explained the situation to my fiance who became very upset. He decided to write a negative review on Yelp for the business. I texted Thu the next day upset, she got me in the same day to fix my hair situation. She said she would wash out the toner, and if I was still unhappy with the Ombre look, then she would lift and bleach my hair again. She mentioned it would usually cost more, but she was doing this for free as a "favor" to make me happy. The Ombre style I payed for which was improperly done wasn't completed bleached, just partially. I would have had to come back for another visit for my hair to be finished for an additional price. Three hours later, my hair was lifted and finally looked a lot better. While I was there, for the second day, the owner/manager as well as the stylist confronted me about a negative review that was posted on Yelp. They essentially bullied me in front of other patrons because "it could hurt our business." However, you did fail to provide the service I asked for. Overall, I felt like I was bullied and singled out in public for for complaining about how my hair turned out horribly gray, and for not being aware of the process of the Ombre. I understand the process, but not for the price they charged at this business. Paying such a high price, I expect the stylist to know what they are doing, and I also expect professional quality after 6 and 1/2 hours plus an additional 3 hrs the following day; neither of which I received on this visit. To the manager/owner and employees: a yelp review in regard to the service received is a valid right, especially if you didn't come through with the services I paid for AND blamed ME for wanting it done properly?I urge you to take another look at your training process. read more

This review is for stylist, Yvette B. A girl's worst nightmare is losing her beloved Hairstylist... and it happened to me a little over a year ago when my girl retired after she had her second baby.... NOOOOO!!! I'm so selfish! What am I supposed to do now?!?! Enter, Yvette. Yvette was recommended to me by a friend and after leaving her chair after our first appointment, a new bond had been made. Such a fun and sweet gal working in a spacious, cute salon. Yvette was very receptive of what I wanted done. We did an ombre and a cut. She made my hair sassy, to match my personality. The appointment setting was very easy. Their appointment system would send me confirmations & reminders via text message. Fab-u-lous Salon! It's been almost 2 years since I moved and NOW I finally found a salon that I really liked, and best of all a hairstylist I trust! Thu is now my go-to-hair girl :) So0o0o I've been wanting to go blonde for a few years, but I was hesitant to try it out because I'm Asian. My new blonde look is fantastic and my hair still has its 'integrity' which Thu was sincerely concerned throughout the whole time which I really appreciated because... c'mon who wants straw, ugly hair? Right then and there, she earned my immediate trust and she was definitely a pro. Thu dyed my hair the perfect blonde for ME, lightened my eye brows and she even fixed my previous hair cut - she definitely exceeded my expectations! To top it off, when I visited my family and friends- they couldn't believe how great it looked! Not only that, everywhere I go people think I'm a mix ethnicity LoL... because the blonde looks natural and that fabulous! Hmm.. this reminds me I need to update my yelp profile pic with my new hair ;p I absolutely lo0o0ve my new look and I feel fabulous! That weekend I went out to find out that blondes really do have more fun ;) Thank you so0o much Thu for making my blonde-dream-come-true!!! read more

I always come in to see Elena for a cut and color. She has been doing a red ombré on me since June 2014, but I've been seeing her for years! I love the way she works in the red so it blends in nicely with my dark hair. It's nice also because she always gives her input on your ideas you have for your hair. The salon itself is nice (they offer drinks and has a good ambiance) and is in a good location (easy access from the freeway). Not to mention when you get your hair washed you get a little view of downtown SD. The owner has the chair next to Elena and he is always super nice too! read more

Fantastic experience and love the results of my blonde highlights from Natalie! My husband and I have been in San Diego for the past five months to escape the Portland winter and I hadn't had highlights in over a year due to covid and then becoming pregnant and being nervous about going into a salon. I finally couldn't stand it anymore and needed to find a stylist to help. We found Cut and I booked with Natalie. She was warm, friendly, very interested in hearing what results I hoped to achieve, helped me decide what shade to go with, and got my hair back to looking even better than it had before covid! I only wish she was in Portland and I could be her regular client! Can't recommend her more highly! read more

Elena did my cut & color and there's just not enough words to describe how much I appreciate and love her work. She came highly recommended from a trendy bad*ss mutual friend. Super sweet, even before my appointment she gave me pro tips on how to maintain my hair, what things to look for when choosing products, what brands she recommends, and how to keep my hair nourished between cuts and then followed up the day before our appointment. I asked to have the back half of my hair dyed purple so that its easily concealable - she said 'like a secret' - precisely, meant to be discovered, if not by accident. She really spent some quality time on my hair to get the color and cut right. We stayed 30 minutes past closing because she wanted to make sure we were satisfied. She was gently and firm, walked me throughout the processes, let me know what she was doing and what she was going to do next. She trimmed it first, lightened my hair (which the owner of the salon complimented her on her handy work), then washed, trim and blow dry, meanwhile conditioning, then she applied the color in pieces to make sure every strand that was lightened got covered. Afterwards she washed and dried and made any last minute trims and adjustments. Nailed it. read more

After moving to San Diego as of lat year, I only got one haircut and one hair color change and I was not satisfied from elsewhere. After my research throughout google/yelp community, I found Guy. He was exactly what everyone reviews are about. He knows about hair. Originally I wanted him to change my hair color from Asian black hair to a blond. Unfortunately he schedule was booked, so I went in for a haircut. He took his time explaining his thoughts before proceed on my hair. He is wonderful. He preferred me to Telima for hair color change. The process was very pleasant. She explained what her plan and how my hair would be after session BEFORE diving into bleaching. She asked me for my confirmation before proceed which is nice to hear because you can always back out. They are there for your comfort, definitely not after your wallet. I came in as Asian hair with a 2 on the scale. After first session, telima got me into a 7 after 4-5 hours . I'm more of a platinum/silver blond after the second session and I spend 2-3 hours there. It was a log process but it was well worth it. After bleaching/toning, my hair isn't not as damaged as I thought it would be so it's a plus. I found my own iconic hairstylist duo. Will be back for sure. The front desk staff is amazing also. read more

This modern style salon is such a fresh escape into the world of fashion! There's plenty of meter and street parking, so don't let the location fool you! Walking in the front door, as you walk upstairs you can hear the soft tones of some upbeat music coming from the salon. I was greeted instantly and checked in for my appointment for a haircut and deep conditioning with Victoria Ybarra. I was handed a cute bundle with a bow tied on top - it was the tightly wrapped gown they give you to protect your shirt! Victoria came out immediately and took me to her naturally lit station that has an awesome view of the nearby downtown area. The station (and salon) was clean, inviting and the decor was practical and sleek. Victoria was absolutely amazing!! She was extremely knowledgeable about each product she used, explaining what they did and even advised me of ingredients. She listened to my daily routine and took time to understand my habits before suggesting for me to try a "wet brush" among other beneficial products for my thin hair. The cut is perfect, and she styled it so fun and it's softer than it's felt in months! I had to make plans for the day so I could show off my new style! I couldn't be happier - I've already made my appt with Victoria for my color appt next month! Highly recommended read more

Simple, professional, and luxurious! The facility is right off the highway and has plenty of parking. As soon as I enter, I am greeted warmly and genuinely. There is always beverages and small snack items to help myself to. The decor is chic and elegant; the music is hip but not blaring. The stylists are allowed to show off their own personal styles that accentuate the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. I have been with my stylist for over a year. Having moved from the East coast, I was nervous about trusting some one new with my hair. Guy Hamel has not only honored my hair, but has brought it to a whole new level. Never in my life have I been complimented so much on my locks; from the color to the cut- I can only thank Guy. I vote for Kree!!!! I found an Amazing hairstylist; Kree!!! I moved to San Diego two years ago and didn't trust anyone to cut my hair until I found Kree. We met at spa establishment in the waiting room and she mentioned if I needed a haircut to call her. The timing was Perfect!!! I was thinking about trimming my long hair, felt our paths crossed for a reason, so I gave her a call. Went to my appointment and she recommended taking several inches off to give my head some rest, which I needed. My hair is very thick and curly/wavy which brought stress to my head/neck. I decided to go for it and cut off 4-5 inches!!!! This was a huge step of faith for me but I was relieved of the weight and she gave me a great layer look. Recently, I came back (one year later) to get a trim and she did her creativity on my hair and cleaned it up nicely. I went a little shorter on the layers around the face and I'm very pleased. I completely trust her professionalism. Kree makes you feel very comfortable and explains everything upfront, which I love! Thank you Kree, I've recommended you to others looking for a great hairstylist! Sending hugs!!! read more
