Sarah was amazing and super friendly! I have never had so much fun in a salon as I did with her. She was able to take care of my mom and I at the same time and it was amazing. She literally has magic hands because she was able to bring my hair back to life. I will for sure be coming back and ask for Sarah! P.S. she also has such a lovely and cuddly pup, definitely will be coming back for her as well!!!
I have never been to a hair salon before. I have always gone to a barber up until recently. My experience here at Knstruct Salon was absolutely incredible!! :) Heather did an amazing job with my hair. I even got to see the outcome of a client she was working on before my appointment. She truly transforms peoples appearance for the better and leaves everyone leaving her salon with confidence!! I highly recommend this salon to everyone. Here is a picture.
Heather Hall has been doing my hair for 10 years now! She is the absolute best hair stylist and friend. I trust her 100% to make decisions about how to reach my goals for each look and color I'd like to achieve on any occasion. Heather has helped me achieve a variety of beautiful blondes, my current favorite being the frosty look! Heather also did my hair for my wedding and it looked absolutely incredible all day and all night. I can't recommend Heather and Knstruct Artistry enough! You'll feel right at home. I get Brazilian Blowouts about every 4-5 months and it has improved the quality of my hair tremendously! I currently have extensions in and I am constantly getting compliments about how great my hair looks. It feels so nice to get these compliments. The extensions are very easy to maintain - which is extremely important for me because I am a very low maintenance kind of girl. If I tell anyone I have extensions, they always say that they would never have guessed and my hair looks awesome. Thank you so much, Heather, for being so attentive, so detailed and so caring - you are the best! XO
Great news!!! My favorite hairstylist Lisandra decided Knstruct was the perfect fit! I enjoy my time getting my hair done playing w the doggies now! Stop in and see her soon! Really enjoyed my time here at Knstruct. My regular hair girl was doing a trial run there and I was lucky enough to be her model. Not only were the girls, one being the owner, friendly as could be but, they had their dogs there!!!!! Seriously, do I need more of a reason to love a business, not in my mind I don't! Not only is it on a quiet edge of the East Village but, it's really easy parking. I looked for less than 5 mins and was a half of a block away. Super easy metered parking, mostly paid electronically and very contemporary vibe. Even the surrounding businesses looked pretty cool and after working right around the corner after moving to San Diego I can vouch there are some nice little eateries and shops close by. I have nothing bad to say about my experience heee.
Heather and the Knstruct Team are the absolute best! And so are all their great pups! My hair had gotten long and my wife said it was time to get it cut. I had been using different stylists, but got referred to Heather by some good friends who were already singing her praises. Best advice ever. Heather was awesome. She took down my doo and gave me a pretty awesome new look! She also offered for me to come in to the shop in between haircuts for a quick clean up free of charge! Can't thank you enough, Heather! And my wife thanks you as well!
I highly recommend Knstruct!!!! Girls are amazing ! It is world of beauty! You will enjoy each second spend here! Stylish and professional ! I love my blowout!!! ANDREA has MAGIC hands! You will see passion in her each move! She did exactly what I expected and even more!!!!
Heather and the whole Knstruct crew are incredible. The salon is gorgeous and the girls are so accommodating. They have local beer on tap, wines, plus amazing color specialist. Its such an East a Village hidden gem. Wouldn't trust anybody else with my hair.
I feel like my hair is an amazing walking advertisement for Knstruct. It's gorgeous and I don't care if I sound full of myself! I have been coloring my hair for about 20 years... yeah, I know, don't judge my old age lol. I think when I say that this place, and Heather Hall, are THEE BEST for hair, I know what I'm talking about! I've added a few pictures to just let the work show for itself vs jibber jabbering all over this review. My hair was jet black for years, and while it worked for a long time, I always tried to go lighter to only be left with broken ends and not the real luxurious gold brown I wanted. Honestly, it always turned out gross and brassy when I tried. So I'd go back to black... maybe that's where that saying came from? Anyway, by the grace of the hair gods I found Heather (who cares how, it's an even longer story than this review) and she changed my life!!!! I've drunk the kool-aid and with your first visit you will too - YOU.WILL.TOO. Heather will take the time to do everything right (no rushing you out the door to fit in their next apt., no typical 2 hour highlight job... it's about getting it done right and beautiful.) I coined her my "Mad Hair Scientist" because you can tell she really loves what she does and has an amazing talent for it. I'm not even exaggerating, it's super impressive! So enough yelp yapping.. you can look for yourself. I had black hair, blondish hair, shorter hair, extensions (which by the by are flipping amazing too!) and every color or length my hair has ever been while going to them, it has been pretty damn awesome! Oh, and although I've only gone to Heather - all the girls there do great work. I'm super nosey and spy on the work they do on their clients. I mean, what else do you do while your hair processes... be nosey - right? You can't go wrong here. Trust me... I'm old and wise.
My hair type is pretty difficult to work with (my hair is super thick and there's a ton of it, plus it grows insanely fast) and I've spent the better part of my life looking for a stylist that can make it look good, while also being maintainable. In the past, I've had cuts that looked great for the first few days, but were too hard to manage and didn't continue to look right after the first couple weeks. Heather has been the answer to my prayers. From the first time I came in, she knew exactly what my hair needed and I've been receiving endless compliments on my hair ever since. I never even tell her what to do, I just sit down and let her do her thing...and it has turned out AMAZING every single time. Even after my hair starts to grow in, every cut has been easy to manage and has looked good all the way up to my next appointment. I can't give a higher recommendation for Heather's skills and she is an absolute gem of a person. The vibe at the salon is relaxed and fun and I always find myself leaving with a huge smile on my face after seeing Heather and Brooke. In short, I feel at home at Knstruct!

This review is 4 years overdue but you know someone's good if you're still getting your hair done by them 4 years later! If you want decent highlights, you can go a lot of places. If you want people to yell compliments about your hair out of car windows, stop you on the street, and tell you that you've convinced them crazy colors can look good, you need to go to Heather (and get a fun color)! There are so many great things to say about her and Sarah, this is gonna be a long one. You might want to plan to arrive a little early in case you need to park a bit further away, but honestly I've almost never had a problem finding a spot within a block. There's a cute coffee shop next door where you can grab a snack and a drink for if you have a longer appointment. Oh and the dogs here are fantastic so let's just get that out of the way (RIP, sweet Patsy and Frankie). Now hair stuff! Backstory: 4 years ago I walked in with untouched, light brunette hair and basically asked for her to take me platinum blonde in one sitting so I could have lavender hair. I now know that is absolutely impossible for me and Heather was the first hairdresser to be honest about having realistic hair goals instead of taking my money, damaging my hair, and giving me something less than what I wanted. If you're making a serious investment in your hair, why not protect it? I'm a nerd so she explained everything to me in a scientific way that made perfect sense, even though hair stuff has always been so confusing to me. No hairdresser I've had before has done that to such an extent so I really appreciated that she wasn't annoyed by all my questions. My favorite thing about Heather is she does NOT compromise on quality. Like, I can guarantee this poor woman and Sarah have spent more time working on my hair than hanging out with some of their friends because Heather is a perfectionist in the best way possible. How many hairdressers do you know who will run around town for you searching for hair color because your freakish hair eats kitchen tupperware amounts of color? Or spend 2 days in a row applying 27 bowls of bleach to your head? That's dedication. I could say so much more about Heather but I think the pictures will speak for themselves :) We've tried a lot of purple over the years and I've had so much fun with every unique look Heather came up with. It's pretty cool to have someone's art on your head and if you let Heather do her thing, you'll probably end up with some of the best hair color of your life. You'll hit hair goals so many times it will get old! I'll have to leave a separate review for Sarah because she deserves her own :) read more

I am in love!! Yes, with my husband but also with my new hair. Heather has helped me transform my look from a soccer mom look to a blonde beauty . Sarah is excellent at the Brazilian blowout so my hair can be perfectly straight and protected while Heather has been able to transform my color using balayage and different lived-in blonde techniques to brighten me up all over and still maintaining dimension. She also magically covers all my grey in a blended way. She uses multi-tonal extensions to ensure a natural look. I'm learning so much about what a science this all is and I'm just thrilled I found the experts. read more

Had a GREAT experience here. I needed a color correction and a friend said to ask Heather from Knstruct for advice. I called for a few questions and ended up scheduling an appointment for balayage and was there for a few hours during the appointment. They ordered Postmates and offered wine. My hair was super brassy and I was nervous to try a new place. I'll be going back FOR SURE because 1) Heather knew what she was doing and 2) they had dogs there lol. 10/10 read more

I have been coming here for almost a year now, and Brooke is hands down one of the best hair stylists in San Diego for blondes and all! Super cute cozy salon with great music. Definitely worth the price to get your hair done here! This pic is from earlier this year and it keeps getting blonder and better! read more

Knstruct is a hidden downtown city gem in East Village !! Heather, genius stylist/owner, is a visionary. Hair is her art. She is intelligent about your hair, explains her ideas and why. She spent quality time producing the best color and style, while I had an ice cold brew from their in-house tap. I felt like I was in great hands the entire time and am so grateful I found her! It's also dog friendly and the whole team of stylists are very cool and friendly. read more

I was referred here about 2 years ago after a bad coloring experience and Heather did such an amazing job I won't ever go anywhere else !! it's very hard to find someone I can trust to get the perfect blond every time and encourages me to grow my hair and keeps it healthy! Also have fallen in love with the EVO products she sells #amazing ....I highly recommend read more
