My experience with Jennifer S. was incredible! I'm used to other stylists and places really pushing me into this white style of beauty with straight hair and lightened hair, but this was SOOOO different! Jennifer was so excited to help me lean into my curls and center the entire cut to showing them off! She had a chill energy and made me feel incredibly comfortable. TLDR: Jennifer is awesome and as a WOC it was nice to have someone comfortable and enthusiastic about natural hair! read more

Love this place! Def recommend! Such a cute salon and the staff is amazing. Also check out their product selection.

I wanted to update my review! I already gave bluxom 5 stars but wanted to add that they have gone above and beyond with communicating how they will be operating with all the changes of COVID19. They are so safe, careful, and thoughtful when it comes to their clients, and I really can't get over how incredible this place is. I am a forever client! read more

What a great experience! It had been a long time since I had a haircut in a salon (we've just been going wild with the covid haircuts at home), and it was SUCH A TREAT to get a cut at Bluxom! Rochelle spent a lot of time at the beginning chatting with me about my hair and what my challenges were and what my goals are before she even touched my hair. We were really on the same page before we started. Besides getting a GREAT and super creative cut, it was an enjoyable experience spending time with her. For me, haircuts are usually kind of awkward, but this was like hanging out with a friend. Also, this was one of my first outings since being fully vaccinated, and I've been hardcoreeeee cautious all year, and was very satisfied with Bluxom's level of safety protocols. Anyway, I'll definitely be back! read more

I went to Bluxom about a month ago. I was very hesitant because after living in San Diego for four years and not finding anyone with reasonable pricing or an appointment within a reasonable time for a curly haired girl like me I was loosing hope. I walked in a little anxious but after chatting with Jennifer she made sure we knew Exactly what the goal was and how we could accomplish it. She took her time and brought my curls back to life. She is absolutely my go to ! read more

My hair was ugh. It dampened my confidence, it never came out of its ponytail. I really needed a big change. After letting someone do a god awful blonde job and then trying to cover it up I finally decided just to go to a salon and see what they can do. I usually don't like letting people touch my hair and up until last year my hair was virgin and to let it be done horribly for the first time. I couldn't trust to re do it. Until I went to see Mia, I just called to see if there was an availability for a haircut and she took me in ASAP and I couldn't be more thankful. Mia listened to how I felt and suggested a new style. She even glossed my hair to help the appearance. It was the best experience I've had with someone doing my hair. I've already scheduled my next appointment! read more

I am recently feeling extra grateful for my last experience with Bluxom over a year and a half ago (!). In Oct 2019 I'd decided to let my hair grow a bit without dying and I went for one final lightening and all over fantasy color. What was meant to be a short hair-break has now been 17 months, and it's a testament to the *absolute amazing talent* of Rochelle that my roots have grown out perfectly faded, like I'd intended a balayage all along. If you're looking for a stylist who can extend your trip between visits, please let my hella roots serve as evidence. The people at Bluxom absolutely know what they've doing. read more

I honestly can't believe it has taken me so long to leave a review, this place is amazing. Super friendly staff and the salon is always so clean and fresh. One of the nicest salons I have ever been to. I don't live in the area anymore, but I used to see Benji, he would freshen up my blonde. He also gave me a bob cut once, which was a super big change when my hair was long, but I couldn't have been happier with my cut. I can't say enough good things about Benji, he is awesome. He knows what he is doing and he is very enjoyable to talk to, and he's so funny! I can't wait to move back to the area so I can start seeing him again! Go see Benji!! You'll be glad you did. read more

BLUXOM - My hair was long, but so damaged. Benji fixed it with this amazing cut! - Hair Extensions Near Me - San Diego, California

I had a great experience here. The salon is so cute and has wonderful staff. I had a haircut with Benji and he was amazing! He talked with me for quite a while before the actual haircut listening to everything I wanted and making recommendations where necessary. I absolutely love my haircut! read more

I used to try different salons everytime I needed my hair done. This salon is the only one I've returned to, for more than a year now. Salon is easy to find, easy parking. Scheduling appointments is easy and I've always been able to go during a convenient time. The products used are high quality (important bc I'm allergic to many things) and the stylists are all really nice. Rochelle is my go to stylist. She's turned my hair red, blonde, silver, brown and back to black all in the same year. My hair is still okay! Still healthy and she always cuts it in a way that still looks good when it grows out. Pricing is just right. This is no Fantastic Sams, but it's not a fluffy foo foo salon either. Give it a try if you're looking for something new! read more

This review is for the nail service. Bronte has transformed my nails! I started seeing her about 5 months ago and my nails have never been stronger, longer, and healthier. Every time I go in she builds me up with so much confidence about the hard work I'm putting in to keep my nails healthy. She has so much knowledge to share about natural nail growth, it's absolutely amazing! My primary goal when I first came in was to feel confident with bare nails, and now I'm totally there! The overall vibe of Bluxom is welcoming, laid back, positive, and fun. I love the experience every time I go in for my service. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to really care for their nails and hair through natural and non-toxic products. read more

FINALLY, I found someone amazing to do my nails. Bronte is the absolute best. I've been searching for years for someone like her and I'm so happy I stumbled upon her. She's meticulous, thorough, and doesn't judge me for my extreme hippie status. She has natural products that will satisfy even the crunchiest of us. I don't typically get polish because paint scares me, but she makes my nails look so good that I don't even think they need it. I've never had my hair done here, but I've seen people coming and going after getting their hair did and they always look pretty snazzy. I would check them out for hair if I wasn't fiercely loyal to my own hair guru. read more

BLUXOM - Benji is the best ‍ - Hair Extensions Near Me - San Diego, California

This review is for the nail services provided by Bronte at Bluxom, as I have not received any hair services from the salon. Bronte provides a fantastic, holistic nail service, and I've never been more impressed with a technician's work. She is exceptionally attentive to detail and ensures each stroke of polish finds its right place on your nails/toes. After receiving routine nail services for 10+ years--and cycling through the nail fads of acrylics, tips, and improper removals (oh my!)--my nails and cuticles underwent habitual ill-maintenance and self-care. I arrived to Bronte with high hopes of returning my nails to their original health and strength, and she's gotten them there ... in fact, they've never been healthier (nor looked as fantastic!). Bronte takes pride in understanding her clients' needs and providing recommendations for at-home care for nail health and longevity. A bimonthly recipient of both gel manis and pedis, I attest to the thoroughness of Bronte's work and the phenomenal service she provides to her clients. As an added bonus, Bronte is a fabulous gal and my appointments always are sure to brighten my day. I highly recommend Bronte to anyone looking for a new nail home. read more

I love this salon! I've only been here a few times but every time, everyone has been so friendly. I know with the strange times we are in, a trip to the salon isn't always as fun but Rochelle makes you feel at ease. They are offering outdoor haircuts which is perfect because I needed to look good for a new job I was starting. If you are in the area and need a good haircut check it out. It looked like they were even offering outdoor nail services too! read more

Hannah- highly recommended!! I called last minute to get an appointment for a wash and blow dry on a Friday afternoon for that evening and these guys were kind enough to fit me in to the last slot of the day. The stylist was really attentive and asked me all the necessary questions to get an idea of what the health of my hair was so that she could use products that would suit my needs. I asked for a soft wave blow dry and got exactly that. Fantastic service not to mention as someone from out of town Hannah gave me a list of places to check out around the area, much appreciated! read more

I was referred to Bluxom Salon from a friend. That atmosphere/vibe was edgy, young and comfortable. It was a great experience all around. I was greeted nicely by the reception when I arrived and I liked how I was offered a beverage. I didn't have to wait long for my manicure with Bronte. After a brief consultation she got started on my manicure. I like to talk during my service and we did a lot of it! Even better that they are a vegan salon and take more of a natural approach with their products. It's a bit on the higher end for pricing but everyone appears to be knowledgable in their craft and it shows. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you Bluxom! read more

First haircut post SIP was a wonderful experience at Bluxom salon with Marci! They have you fill out a form ahead of time to make sure you do not have any Covid symptoms/haven't been around anyone who has it. They take your temperature upon arrival, only operate at 25% capacity and wear masks the entire time. I felt incredibly safe there! Marci was amazing and so helpful on my hair routine and they have awesome products. I highly recommend Bluxom! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a follow up call from the owner after writing this post. She was genuinely apologetic about the situation and took a sincere interest in my health and wellbeing. She also informed me that a few of the communication strategies have since changed since she was never informed when I originally called the salon. She even went on to say that they have changed their intake to get a more detailed background on allergies and sensitivities. The sincerity of her apology and willingness to accept responsibility was all I was looking for, as I do realize that unintentional things happen at any salon. Finally, I appreciate that she never asked me to update or change my original Yelp post as it reflects on her professionalism and authenticity of her concern for my situation. read more

I am incredibly scared and have major trust issues whenever I have someone new styling my hair because I have A LOT of thick hair. I take the time to do research and always look at stylists' work when going to a salon and Bluxom hits all the marks. After having my hair cut by Benji, I am convinced he's a goddess sent to Earth to make the world a better place, one style at a time. On top of asking me what style I was going for, he went in full detail about the products I use, what kind of goals I want for my hair, literally things I have not thought about when coming into a salon. I really appreciated the thoroughness of his questions because it's important to get a good feel of what your customers want. My whole experience there was just amazing; it's been 4 hours since I left and I'm still gushing over the whole thing. Benji and I had great conversations and I am astonished he was able to do the work that he did with me talking my head off. He took the time to explain and plan out what to do with my hair, gave me better suggestions when what I wanted wouldn't look the best, and went beyond my expectations in a stylist. Thank you so much to Benji for taking the best care of me. I am so excited to come back in 6 months. I highly recommend anyone who's looking for a new stylist to check Bluxom out! read more

Jennifer was amazing! I was lucky enough to get a last minute appointment with her and I'm so happy that I did. She was so easy to talk to and did a wonderful job of explaining the process of correcting my hair (I had regrowth, box dye and old salon bleach in my hair from years ago.) I left with a shiny, healthy and uniform result and strutted out the door. I will be back. read more

I have been searching left and right for a new stylist - someone who actually listens and understand my needs. I finally found it! Ask for Rochelle, She has excellent suggestions, takes her time with her work and gets the job done THE WAY YOU WANT IT! Walked into Bluxom and loved the bright, simple, chic, yet inviting feel of the salon. Having had short hair for years, I'm very particular and picky with who cuts my hair. Well Siobhan immediately put my concerns to rest and totally owned my hair. She had a vision of what it needed to look like and she took it there. She really is an artist and a pro at what she does. Not to mention, you'll have a blast just visiting with her. I highly recommend Siobhan for any of your hair styling needs! read more

BLUXOM - Done by Siobhan, who is truly amazing with hair - Hair Extensions Near Me - San Diego, California

I originally had went to see Siobhan at the salon she previously worked at. Walking out of the salon I was so excited because I loved my hair and it was honestly the first time I had my haircut and didn't feel like I had to go home and try to wash and restyle it before I went anywhere else. The only 'problem' was that it was allll the way in Del Mar. Lucky for me Bluxom is now across the street from my house! The salon is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. I love love love Siobhan and am so happy I have found her. read more

I'm so happy to have found Bluxom. Marchelle, Siobhan, and Jen are talented stylists and I feel really comfortable spending time at the salon. I have no hesitation in stating that is the best salon in San Diego for color and precision haircuts. Marchelle recently has been trying out balayage / ombré highlights on my hair and I love it! I'm so happy with the results. Every time I leave the salon, I feel that hair looks so pretty. I feel that they really pay attention to my requests. That's very important to me because I have difficult hair to style and I'm picky (it's wavy and straight sometimes and fine but dense in volume). Xoxo to all the Bluxom ladies! read more

I legitimately come from Sacramento to get my hair done by Siobhan. Best bangs I have ever had in my life and she lightened my naturally black locks without damage AND I kept my length. The salon also carries R&Co. My new favorite product line. The gals that work at Bluxom are fun, professional and courteous. You feel right at home! This salon is ideal if you want cutting edge style and color or a classic cut. Couldn't sing anymore praises!! GO GO GO!! read more

What an amazing salon! My first experience was professional & wonderful. The moment I walked into Bluxom Salon I felt welcome. This is a small business so they make you feel really at home, unlike a lot of chain businesses I've been to. I had my haircut by Mia & my hair was totally repaired. She's a really good listener, had good recommendations & I love my cut. I'll be going back to Mia for sure. read more

Siobhan was able to rescue the few hairs I had left after tremendous catastrophe I got myself in a couple of months ago, I have no words to express how thankful I am, I still remember that day when I was desperately seeking for a miracle and somehow ended in your wonderful hands, not only she welcomed me with open arms but made me feel super comfortable and confident that she would take good care of me, taking me and explaining every step of the process, I love the place feels like home after being around for a couple of months and of course the girls in general are exceptionally talented and offer a wonderful customer service, I would absolutely recommend them. If I only had pictures so you could compare the before and after of my first appointment and from then the progress thru the months you will all be surprised and amazed. This salon truly is in a class above a 5 star rating. Not only are the stylists extremely talented but they are happy and respected by Marchelle the owner who has developed this salon into an experience where you leave feeling beautiful every time with a smile on your face looking forward to the next time you can come back to your salon family. It's like a second home to me where a high maintenance unfiltered truly picky woman can feel like she is accepted and listened to. The products are pure and non damaging. The room is well lit, clean and smells great. The bathroom is well appointed. Bluxom is one of a kind and worth a visit if you already aren't a Bluxom babe :) read more

Really disappointed in this place. Came in and spent about 20 minutes with the hairstylist, explained in detail what I wanted and got my quote/estimate. The stylist added it won't be more that that. Got my appointment weeks ahead before the New Years.. came in on the 30th and my price was now $100 more. My opinion was to leave of course.. which I did. With my hair now looking like shit for New Years. I got three confirmations from the salon about my appointment but Benny never bothered to call and let me know he completely misquoted me. Happy new year! Thanks a lot. Way to do business!! read more

I have extremely fine and thin hair that I lighten so I am super cautious when it comes to who colors my hair. I actually work in a hair salon in Encinitas (1 mile from my home) and still more than happily make the trek to north park to see Marchelle. I have never felt so compelled to write a positive Yelp review of a business and service. Rochelle gave me exactly the cut I wanted, a perfect shag that eased me into a change that I have wanted to make for a while. Her cut and Easy finger styling techniques a products selections have given me best hair days every day. (I don't own a hair dryer). I literally have never had a cut and styling suggestions make such a a difference in my daily routine. On top of that- I got the sense that the salon is inline with my priorities in terms of sustainability and inclusivity.
