Alright, I really hate to be writing this review because I've been coming here for a long time now…read more(2 years) but it's been going downhill. I absolutely love their Carmel Mountain location, but I hate their Point Loma location. I've never had issues at Carmel Mountain, but I constantly have issues in Point Loma. I've repeatedly had issues with their website, allowing you to book on days that they are not open and their website hours on Google saying they're open even when they're not. I've contacted them multiple times about this, but the issue has never been resolved. I'll be honest this was one of the only places I have ever trusted to do my eyebrows and I had a great experience a handful of times I've been to Carmel Mountain. But they really need to get new management for the point Loma location. I know it is new, but that is not an excuse for how it is currently running. I've also heard other reviews from friends of mine saying that they will show up on time for their appointment and the staff is not there and has been up to 30 minutes late for their appointment. I hope to continue to be a customer because I do love the Carmel Valley location, but I really hope they can step it up in point Loma. Overall, I have a bad taste in my mouth from the poor experiences in PL.

Unfortunately, the results were the opposite -- my brows were tinted jet black, nothing close to what I asked for. When I expressed my concern, Emma's explanation was that my skin was dry and absorbed the dye, which I did not find to be an acceptable or professional response. To make matters worse, the waxing left my face severely red with small sores that are still present more than 24 hours later with no improvement. I paid $95.00 for a service that did not deliver what was promised and has left me with visible skin damage. This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had anywhere. Save yourself the embarrassment and pain and don't go here! This is in response to Emma's comments Your comments are fabricated. You did try to lighten it but it clearly didn't work. I was obviously upset. You instructed me to go home and use shampoo on my brows to try and lighten them. I feel like my review was honest and fair. I didn't mention how you texted me the morning of to change the time of my appointment 30 minutes later. Or how you asked me "If i'd ever come back." Your comments only confirm my statement that it's the worst experience ever! Shame on you!

Quirky store to how I discovered Ivy…read more.. I came in for my biannual teeth cleaning (I've had the same dentist for a decade), and noticed the receptionist's lashes. They were so pretty and said that their hygienist (she cleans my teeth pretty often), referred her to a lady named Ivy! And yes, my hygienist's lashes were just as pretty as hers! My boyfriend got me my first set on December 2017 (for Christmas) and I became a regular of Ivy's from then to May 2018. I took a couple of months break since, yes, unfortunately lash extensions damage your own lashes. I returned today (October 6, 2018) and decided on the the half-set ($40 for 50 lashes each eye) and they're beautiful. I would argue that they are just as beautiful as what I used to pay for ($99 for over 100 lashes). Ivy is great and she is in a new location (she was in another salon in Mira Mesa) in the Black Mountain area. She has been doing this for years and the hygienist (mentioned above) has been her customer for more than three years. I'm disappointed at the other reviews especially because my lashes were always fabulously done. There might be a bit of a language barrier since English isn't Ivy's first language, but I've never had any problems that were mentioned in the other reviews. She has tried to upsell to me before, but hey, she is a business after all! So, you just say, "no, thank you" (duh?)! Ivy is worth every penny for your lashes. I receive so, so, so many compliments whenever Ivy does my lashes. Ivy's technique makes the extensions look extremely natural and that's because she tries to use as less glue as possible. In terms of the actual process itself, people have different experiences but it's not hurtful by any means. However, there may the occasional "ouch" moment, but you'll survive and love your lashes :) If you haven't done your research (about extensions), I highly suggest you do so prior to getting them. Her current prices are $99 for over 100 lashes or $40 for fifty lashes each eye, which is what I'm wearing in the photos I posted. Let's get real here.. those are cheap compared to others. If you're curious about lash extensions and want to keep it friendly on your pockets, Ivy is a great option. I communicate with her mostly through text and she responds within the same day or the day after. ***Do keep in mind that she only accepts cash.*** I would take the other (negative) reviews with a grain of salt, because, like I said, she does awesome work, she's always been responsive and polite, and her prices are beyond reasonable. Only way to find out is for you to go see her for yourself! I'll be back in two weeks or so for a refill :D I missed them so much, I honestly can't believe I went cold-turkey for months, hah.

When entering, I get hit with the hottest room ever. The thermostat was reading above 82°. When I ask if we can turn the air conditioning on, I was told they weren't able to because they needed a key and the owner of lashes desire was the only one who had it and didn't allow them any access to it. The two businesses who rent from here have all rights to utilities as they pay rent and us clients who pay services should not have to deal with being uncomfortable. The owner is being completely unethical. During a few of my encounters, I've heard her bad mouth the two businesses to her clients WHILE me and other clients are getting services done. We all stay quiet to keep it respectful but truthfully, I would love to say something because the two businesses renting from her have been nothing but great to me. The city of San Diego needs to come into this business and expect the facility. During a heat wave, the air conditioning NEEDS to be provided at ALL times. Now personally I don't like to wait that long but sometimes finances can happen. Point being they didn't need any maintenance no tacking they stayed put! Sophie is amazing! I had a wig that needed styling and I went to multiple wig shops who turned me down, but not Sophie. I brought in my own wig and she immediately sat me down and we started to talk about what style I wanted. Once decided on a style, Sophie held on to my wig for 2 days to style it then when I went to pick it up it was exactly what I asked for. For my appointment, I had extensions added to give my hair volume and asked for curls to add to the look I was going for. The magic that resulted was nothing short of a miracle and a reminder to trust the professionals. My hair looked so beautiful! When I suggested a date in October, she told me she couldn't take me then because she would be working on a celebrity -- so I rearranged my plans and booked for September 27 at 10:00 AM instead. She confirmed, sent me the address, and I planned my entire Saturday around it. When I showed up on time, another stylist told me Andrea had canceled her 10:00 clients and wouldn't be in until noon -- and Andrea never notified me. I finally heard from her around 11:30. Her tone was casual, not sincerely apologetic, and she offered me a discounted service as if that would fix wasting my entire morning. At that point, it felt like an insult. What really stings is the contrast: Andrea made sure to tell me she couldn't take me in October because of her "celebrity" client, yet she couldn't even extend the basic courtesy of canceling or notifying me. It left me feeling like, if you're not a celebrity, your time and business just don't matter to her. I don't care about discounts -- I care about professionalism and respect. After this experience, I would never go back, and I don't recommend booking unless you're okay being treated like an afterthought.

The whole process was quick and I personally felt no pain or discomfort following the extension application. My hair is shoulder length and curly, so I was unsure if the extensions would blend properly when drying naturally. I purchased six bundles of 24' wavy hair.
