I was passing through Poway and needed to get a last-minute mani/pedi before an event, so I searched Yelp and found Studio Mani because of all the great reviews. I called, and even though I didn't have an appointment, they were kind enough to squeeze me in, which I really appreciated. I went in on Friday, 7/17, around 2:00 PM. I want to start by mentioning the woman who did my pedicure. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name, but she was absolutely lovely,kind, gentle, and did a great job. She's the reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of fewer. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about my manicure with Nina (although she told me her name was Kim, while her station said "Nina"). She was extremely rude and unprofessional from the beginning. She handled my hands very roughly, constantly grabbing and pulling them around. The turning point was when I politely asked if she was still planning to file my nails into the same square shape I came in with. My nails were visibly uneven and hadn't been shaped yet. She was about to apply the polish, so I simply asked if she was still going to shape them. Her response was, "I already did," and everything went downhill from there. I've been getting my nails done for over 15 years, since I was a teenager, so I know what a finished nail shape should look like. I normally go to the same salon in Mission Hills, San Diego, but because this was a last-minute invitation, I thought it would be quicker to find a place nearby. I wasn't rude or confrontational, I asked a legitimate question. It seemed like she took it personally or was offended, and her attitude became even worse afterward. It's unfortunate because the manager (I believe she was the one who answered the phone and fit me into the schedule) was very nice and accommodating, and my pedicure experience was great. Unfortunately, one employee can completely change the overall experience. If I'm ever in the area again, I would choose another salon, and I wouldn't recommend this one based on my experience with the manicure. read more

I got a basic manicure and a soft heels pedicure. The total cost was $62 before tip. The ladies there were very nice and friendly. They even offered a complimentary drink. The choices were alcohol (21+), water, or a soda. It didn't smell like any strong chemicals inside since they had the door open. I came here on a weekday evening after work for a very much needed gel pedicure. I walked in but I recommend putting in an appointment. I haven't had such an amazing pedicure in a very long time. Jennifer did a great job with painting, cleaning up the excess skin without any pain, and callus removal. It seems they just changed management so they're doing a 20% off offer for new clients. Even without the 20% the prices are extremely reasonable. The shop looked renovated, very clean, and they even offer complimentary drinks. They take card with a $1 fee. The shop is in the same plaza as smart and final. read more

I walked in for a mani and pedi as the $19.99 pedi deal drew me on. I went in around 10AM on a weekend and they were too busy to take walks-in, so I was asked to come back in a hour. It was no problem for me since I live close but recommend to call/make an appointment before hand. I was about to get my mani done but there seemed to be some issue with a customer next to me that she had to get her nails redone which delayed my mani time even though I came back with an appointment. I waited 30+ minutes to get my nail started. I got gel nails with chrome and I initially loved how it turned out - love the color and not too shiny as I asked, however, it only lasted a week until it started lifting. (Got nails done on Sunday and picture is from Monday). I would expect gel nails to last at least 2 weeks so this was a little sad. No issues with my pedi though. I saw the sign on the road advertising a pedicure special. It's a Tuesday afternoon. 2:00. Only two manicurists working at this time. We arrived at 9:55am for our 10:00/10:15am mani/pedis. The two ladies working were surprised to see us, and Holly, who had made the appointments, was not there. The staff finished with their customer and then started on our nails. The work was good but my fingernail color did not match my toenails as I requested for some reason that was not explained. My guest felt like her leg massage was lacking. They finished our nails and we were getting ready to go when they said we need to wait for Holly to arrive to ring us up. She arrived about 20 minutes later at around 12noon. She started to charge me the full price, but I reminded her about the price she had quoted to me via Yelp. She said the discount was only for one person so I paid full price for my guest which was not my understanding.
