Most providers either use one layer of the synthetic underlayment or two layers of the cheap tar paper. Martin was very professional, responsive, and was able to replace the entire roof within one week (he started on a Monday and was done by that Friday). In addition, one of my neighbors works in the construction industry and was observing Martin's work from his house. My neighbor came by my house afterwards and said that Martin did a great job. Martin had been recommended to me by two other friends who had used him. He was very responsive in getting me a quote and starting the job, He was part of a Tesla Solar Panel project. I needed him to get a permit and help get the roof ready for Tesla. His men showed up and did a great job pulling the roof apart. A little over a month later, when Tesla installed the solar panels, he sent some subcontractors to put my roof together. Unfortunately it took several tires for the job to be completed, but ultimately he completed the job. Based on my experience with Martin, his pluses are: - He is quick to get you a reasonable quote. Areas he needs to improve: -Communications. He does not respond to calls or texts until a day or two later. -It would have worked out much better if the same guys who took apart my roof put it back together, but they were probably on another job. Martin came in between some of the biggest storms in Dec 2022 to seal our roof. We knew there were leaks causing some damp spots in our walls and ceiling. He came and did the work in between some major storms. While he showed up late, he finished the job in a day. We found some issue after a week and called Martin up, he sent another guy to come take a look. The new guy pointed out issues, peeling of sealant and holes that were not sealed. His own guy pointed out the shoddy work. He would come out and reseal the affected areas. He promised to come back to fix it but never showed after we scheduled him a few times. We had to wait hours to get a text saying he won't come. He also recommended someone to fix rusty railings - it's already rusting after a couple of weeks because of poor paint job. They also sealed the bottom of the railings, it's still mushy after a month. Oh and he will demand* payment after the job is complete before the paint is dry. Just do yourself a favor and avoid this disaster. And yes - roof is still leaking, it's now caused even more damage that we also need to fix. Good news is, our ceilings and walls are cut open and we could easily find where the leaks are coming from! Highly recommended it if you want to see the inside of your dry wall, spend extra money and get mold inspection/clearance reports since an infant lives in the house. It's the lack of post work that's going to be an issue, initial work is probably fine for the most part. He has no incentive nor reason to warranty his work. I thought it was strange when he got pissed at me for taking to the guys who removed the roof, plywood installer, and tile installer only to realize these were all subcontractors. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CONTRACTOR. We had Martin install 2 skylights on our roof this summer (back when his company was called "Major Quality Roofing"). He was responsive on Yelp and available to get the job done quickly.. but I should've known better. First of all, he cut holes in our ceiling/roof for the skylights unevenly, and when I tried to have it corrected he was super defensive and somehow tried to blame it on me. He also cracked a bunch of our concrete tiles in the process of installing and tried to "repair" it by putting an ugly white seal on them that is visible instead of just replacing the tiles themselves. A few weeks after he installed the skylights, he even texted me saying he was not confident in the leak protection and that he would come back to reinforce but he never showed up. After the recent storm, we have MAJOR leaks coming from BOTH skylights causing damage to the interior of our home and garage. There is now mold growing on our ceiling. When I called Martin to let him know, he told me he would come and check it out and repair it before it was scheduled to rain again this week. He never showed up. After repeatedly calling/texting, he AGAIN tried to schedule something with us (mind you, my husband and I have to coordinate being home because of our work schedules) and SURPRISE SURPRISE he didn't show up AGAIN. He has absolutely NO respect for your time and does not care that his work is shoddy. I am now in contact with another roofer to literally re-do the skylight install because Martin did such a terrible job. 0 STARS! Stay away from this contractor, very DISHONEST!!! We have problem with a major leaks in our living room and minor leak in the dining area back in August 2021. Martin gave his quote for $1,700 to fixed the major leak in our living room, and to put a sealant painting on our roof that should cover minor leak all over the house (1,200sqft). It didn't rain until last week that's when I contacted Martin about the leaked. He scheduled 3x but never showed up, not even a message that he wont be able to come(very unprofessional). He came today and discussed the issue but now he is telling me that I have never pointed out the leak in the dining, that he never said that sealant painting will prevent the minor leak, and that I painted my roof to make it look nice. I never care how my roof looked like, all I want is to fix the leak. I spend additional $1,000 for nothing. PS. I should have review them after they did the work last august for not cleaning up after. They just left the bucket and can paints in front of the house and drop paint all over our barbeque grill. I moved into an older home in 2021, with a concrete tile roof. The roof is over 20 years and our home inspection showed a few cracked tiles. We also had solar panels installed. Martin and his team gave us a fair bid to replace the cracked tiles, and to seal up the flashing by the fireplace and vents. He took a sample tile to match it, and in two days the job was done. He told me he'd buy a few extra tiles in case he broke any while walking on the roof. He even left me about 15 extra tiles that he didn't need. He did come early last Saturday morning to try to seal the gap but was unable to. It rained Saturday morning about hour of rain and the top of my door frame started leaking that's inside the hallway. The top of the two windows started leaking as well. I called him and he said he was unable to seal the gap. That he would come back and help us put a tarp up and never did. I hired Everlasting Roofing for a roof repair, which they did quickly and at a fair price. Weeks later, we decided to get solar, so we decided to replace our roof, even though Martin said it had a couple years of life left in it. I got quotes from 5 different companies, some from Yelp and some from solar company referrals. The solar company referral companies quotes were very high and Martin's quote was very fair and had everything the other quotes had in them. Martin was very patient with us and was able to pull the permit and start the project in a very reasonable time frame. They did the tear-off in one day and took care to cover our new pavers that surround our house. They cleaned up after themselves and were very polite. The re-roof process was very smooth and without any surprises. We passed inspection and couldn't be happier with our new roof, flashing, chimney cricket, etc. Martin even gave us some new gutters for free and what an improvement over the old gutter system we had.
