At the door was a sign that advertised "hot dog platter for $5.99", and then a second that said "cash only". It turned out that the $5.99 was really $15.99 ("the 1 is really thin" it was explained to us by some teenager who had obviously done this more than once). We had enough cash to cover 2 $5.99 hot dog platters, but not 2 $15.99 hot dog platters. It really became a humiliating experience ending with some of the junkiest junk food I've eaten in a long time. We paid an obscene sum for crappy food. On the plus side, it was clean and didn't look like a dump. But at 15 bucks for a couple plain hot dogs, they can probably afford a fresh coat of paint. What year is this anyway? When was the last time you set foot in a restaurant that didn't take credit cards? Does the IRS read Yelp reviews? A mile down the road was a McDonalds where the food was slightly better, and the service and prices were more predictable. I absolutely recommend against setting foot in the Brewster Red Rooster, cute rhyme notwithstanding.
