Evanston is a cute and relatively new joint in Evanston. Since I graduated undergrad in 2013, so many lovely shops and sit-down restaurants have disappeared. Thus, I am glad that Evanston Pour is in town! Try the beverages as well as the pastries. The cardamom bun isn't a true cardamom bun (sorry, Denmark spoiled me!), but it's a decent substitute if you can't get to Lost Larson or Scandinavia. I would probably recommend the quiches and croissants over other baked goods. Love that Evanston Pour offers more spacious seating in addition to more seats than your typical hip coffee shop. I absolutely love this place! So relaxed and posh inside. I spent a few hours here with a couple friends and had a great time! Comfortable seating, great music playing, super chic and cute environment. The tea is served so adorably!! Service is super fast too, and very nice!! I got the mocha and thought it was decent, but I came more for the environment as opposed to the food/drink. I do need to try their other drinks to get a better feel for the quality. Greatly appreciated that this place is opened late! Many cafes and such close early/afternoon, but this place is open till 9pm--much more convenient. Also they bring out candles & and turn on blue lights when it gets dark out, so cool! read more

Evanston Pour is incredible! Amazing indoor space with some small tables outside, lots of great breakfast or cocktail hour drinks, super friendly and attentive staff, and they recently added lots of new food to the case for any time of day. This place is also not too crowded with students (far enough from campus) but is certainly worth walking to. One of my favorite spots to get a drink before dinner or crank out some work. read more

Nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee! We stayed there for a few hours and enjoyed the ambiance.

Newly opened and doing great with the vibe and the quality. Ive been there during the day ("coffee" time) and the evening ("drinking" time) and both atmospheres really work which is a great accomplishment. New laptop policy that feels passive aggressive by putting signs on tables that states "thank you for keeping this table laptop free" if you pull out your laptop a barista will ask you to move to the barstool. The barstool area is the only area where people with laptops can sit. Wrote an email to the manager about this policy and it felt passive aggressive as well. The matcha latte with oatmilk was pretty weak. I'll ask next time to add a little extra matcha. The environment was great for work or pleasure and the barista was friendly. Although I didn't use this service, I like how they offer the option of ordering food from one of the 2 nearby restaurants and they will deliver it to your table. The cafe itself had a couple premade sandwich options from what I saw. Looking forward to returning and trying a regular latte. read more

There are so many things to like about Pour -- the wide ranging and excellent menu, the good coffeee, the lovely design, and the location. But also so much that is ENRAGING. The worst is their stupid no-laptops policy. I went there yesterday to work in the late afternoon -- reluctantly because I knew what awaited me. Sure enough, there were TEN empty tables, all with 'No laptops' signs on them, while the narrow, uncomfortable bar -- the only place where you're allowed to open a laptop, and the place with the least room for one -- was jam packed. I managed to squeeze in between the water dispenser and a nice gentleman, but it was pretty miserable. And the staff have a definite attitude - - except for the wonderful Dex, who I know from Bros K days. PLEASE, Pour, re-think the policy, relax a little, and be nice to everyone who walks in, not just the people you feel like chatting with. read more

2 times here. I vaguely remember being unimpressed with the coffee the first time. Today I had time to kill before meeting dining partners and it was the only place to get a coffee so I went back. Barista was very nice, the atmosphere is great. The coffee was not hot enough for my liking. Also, they don't have sugar free syrups, just my personal preference. As noted by at least one reviewer, Pour recently implemented a policy that I have never encountered at any other coffee shop. Laptops are only permitted in the bar area. Compared to tables, the bar stools are less comfortable, have limited space, and no privacy. This policy is enforced regardless of how many customers are present or tables available. For example, on a recent weekday morning, not a single table was occupied but I was told that I could only use my laptop at the bar. I hope the owners reconsider this policy. read more

Bar none ( no pun intended), this is the best cafe in the whole Chicago area. The friendliness of the staff is only matched by the coffee and wine and whole concept. In the European (especially French and Spanish) tradition of a local place where one goes to have a cup of coffee to wake up their day, and, after work, a glass of wine to help wind their day down, Pour sets a high standard. In comfort and camaraderie, the atmosphere, and whole concept, is pretty much unique for our area. Kudos to John, Jen, and Mike for the obvious love they put into this cafe! read more

The Pour in Evanston is a wonderful place! However, today I had an extremely bad customer experience with a staff member named Katlynn. while placing my order, I asked for a new item on the menu. Her response was abrupt and especially rude. I was born and raised in Evanston. I have never experienced such a nasty demeanor from an employee Katelynn does not exhibit the type of customer service I've received in the past. Had a great time at the Evanston Pour House. Great decor and ambiance. With the simultaneous opening of Wild Fork Meat House down the street (I don't think they're affiliated?), this makes for an incredible one-two punch in E-town. I really like the concept of a café-bar. Wish they went all out and served cocktails though. Sorry, but if you serve lattes, the equivalent alcoholic drink is a cocktail! I went to Pour this week to try it. The pros: a lovely, beautiful and inviting space, which is clearly contributing to the community. This previous space was a Starbucks and Pour is far and away a much better vibe. There is indoor and outdoor seating. People are comfortable, the staff was lovely and helpful and it feels nice and inviting when you walk in. People were friendly. The prices for coffee and food are high, but I'm sure the rent on this space is high and I would hope that they pay their staff/servers a decent wage, so I do not begrudge paying $4.50 for a 12 oz latte or about the same for a butter croissant (these two items came out to $9.48). I think this is the going rate at Starbucks too and I would much prefer to support a local business. But the cons are what made me give this place two stars. The latte was god-awful. Although it was prettily presented with a lovely foam heart on the top, the taste of the coffee was like that found in a glass carafe that has been sitting on the burner for far too long. It was flat, bitter, burned, and the whole milk used (I was asked whether I wanted dairy or oat - Jack Whitehall, the British comic, has a brilliant bit about our obsession with non-dairy "milks", but I digress) did not mask the awful flavor of the coffee itself. There are coffee beans and then there are COFFEE BEANS, no two beans are alike. It's not the machine or the way a latte is made (although that sometimes has something to do with it), but it is almost always the beans. And organic, free trade doesn't mean something tastes good, though the owner's heart might be in the right place. But the taste of this latte was just awful and so, so disappointing. I think people have low standards for coffee these days and I also think that some people will drink anything brown in a cup with a foam heart on top and be happy. More power to them. I do not begrudge their path to happiness, it just isn't mine. read more

Pour is overall a great coffee/tea spot for working, studying and morning meet-ups by day and a much more bar-ish social scene by evening/night. A wide variety of coffee/tea drinks with delicious breakfast bites from pastries to quiche. By afternoon a diverse selection of wine and sandwiches are added to the menu and the evening opens up a spot for friendly adult libations. The ambiance is inviting with art exhibited on the walls, bar stools, small tables and a cute window lounge area as well as shady outdoor seating. The baristas/tenders are always pleasant and helpful. Word from the experienced... the Margaritas are absolutely deliciously refreshing and ya wanna drink 'em like lemonade...careful! Along with all above is a spot that is conscious that it is part of a greater business area and community and is always promoting and participating in local events, giving back via more than just funding. I couldn't be happier that they are in my neighborhood and advise that you stop in for great coffee (the Mocha is perfect.. not too sweet, creamy chocolate heaven) or libations and food. read more

I stopped by Pour this morning and got a coffee and a pastry. The interior reminded me of Bouchon in Las Vegas - kind of a Parisian brasserie feel. It also reminded me of a bar/cafe I used to go to in Manhattan around 2002 where the gimmick was it was supposed to feel like a high-end bordello. The name escapes me. Ah well. Anyhow, at Pour, the service was very good. The pastry was excellent. And the coffee was strong and just a little bitter, but hey, some people like that. I paid eight bucks and change, before tip. There were beer taps too. With Sherlockian-level deduction, I concluded that you can come here in the evenings and get a beer too. Maybe I will give that a go sometime. read more

Been a customer for over a year, usually weekly to meet friends over coffee. NOT GOING BACK until they modify their newly instituted "policy" of only allowing you to SIT AT THE BAR IF YOU OPEN A DEVICE? WTF? Seems if you live in the 21st century, now you're relegated to second class status. Given them so much money, but I will be going to Understudy in Andersonville to prepare my lectures. Nothing special about their pastries, coffee or tea. It's all about their MOVE ALONG SCORE which pegged my meter. Have a sense of loss & sorry this happened ! It's not necessarily about the policy itself, it's coffee cafe culture to sit down and relax, read or work - I get it - some abuse the privilege. But being told as a regular customer who rarely uses a device here "uh before you get comfortable" when that's what I am paying for is not the way to implement it.
