When I asked to purchase soap, the request was refused, which was frustrating. I also noticed that when I greeted them with "hello" or "thank you," my greetings were not acknowledged. They just keep staring at you angry and mad, basic courtesy goes a long way in making customers feel respected. As customers, we help support local businesses, and mutual respect is important. I was a loyal customer of San Toy for years and always thought they did an adequate enough job, although the store is dusty and my clothes would often return smelling musty as well. A couple weeks ago, I bought them a vintage Versace striped shirt that had some very minor ink bleeding in a few spots. I asked the man who generally works in the front if, in his professional opinion, this could be fixed and he said they would give it a try. When I came to pick it up a few days later, they had completely and utterly ruined the shirt. What had been some minor bleeding in a couple discrete spots was now all over the shirt rendering it, a completely irreplaceable item, totally unwearable. While he offered to "try again," I no longer trusted them and instead, found a higher end, designer-focussed dry cleaner to see if they could possibly fix what San Toy had done. As any good business should, they assessed the shirt and let me know that it was, unfortunately, unfixable and any further work would only make the bleeding worse. I then brought the shirt back to San Toy as I believed I should be compensated for them having ruined the item. I personally think they should have offered to pay for the entire cost of the shirt, but I would have accepted pretty much anything as a gesture of good will. I walked in to calmly speak about this with the man in the front and who, as I mentioned, I have brought clothes to for years. He immediately flew of the handle, yelling at me to bring it back to the store (I told him it was a vintage piece from The Real Real so there was no store), that there was no way he would pay me a dime, that I could pay HIM to try again (LOL!) and then ultimately started screaming repeatedly, "TAKE ME TO COURT I DON'T CARE!" I am flabbergasted not only by San Toy's hack dry cleaning but also by their lack of accountability and care for their customers. There's a zillion dry cleaners in Park Slope and I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. This place sucks.

When I came to pick it up, not only was it confirmed that I had, in fact, discolored one spot, but the dry cleaners had discolored the rest of the coat as well, leaving huge marks of white throughout an otherwise indigo blue coat :( The owner and I agreed on a repayment of $300, but when I came back the next day to pick up the check, he lowered the repayment to $200. He said that his wife told him it was worth even less than that :( this coat is so special to me and cannot be replaced. They also lost the belt of the coat! I feel disregarded in a neighborhood where I otherwise feel so welcome and taken care of. Ruining a coat is one thing, coming to an agreement and then going back on your word is another. The latter is much harder to get past.

However, I've had problems with designer jeans I've had hemmed there. Firstly, they usually hem the jeans shorter than I ask. Usually about a half inch. But sometimes more. Lately, the hem lines have been terribly erratic as well, as evidenced by my photo. I'll probably give the cleaners on the corner a shot. For a hemming job that probably takes 5 minutes and demands $10, they could at least sew the hem line straight.

Oh forgot to mention these washers were 18 quarters previously and are now 24. 24 quarters to have your clothes held hostage by the worst laundromat in the city. Ridiculously crowded. Long waits for dryers because half of them are "reserved" so the new gentrifiers in the neighborhood can use wash and fold service. It's a shame
