I have never been compelled to write a yelp review in my entire life but feel I've been given no choice but to issue a warning here. I was a loyal customer of San Toy for years and always thought they did an adequate enough job, although the store is dusty and my clothes would often return smelling musty as well. A couple weeks ago, I bought them a vintage Versace striped shirt that had some very minor ink bleeding in a few spots. I asked the man who generally works in the front if, in his professional opinion, this could be fixed and he said they would give it a try. When I came to pick it up a few days later, they had completely and utterly ruined the shirt. What had been some minor bleeding in a couple discrete spots was now all over the shirt rendering it, a completely irreplaceable item, totally unwearable. While he offered to "try again," I no longer trusted them and instead, found a higher end, designer-focussed dry cleaner to see if they could possibly fix what San Toy had done. As any good business should, they assessed the shirt and let me know that it was, unfortunately, unfixable and any further work would only make the bleeding worse. I then brought the shirt back to San Toy as I believed I should be compensated for them having ruined the item. I personally think they should have offered to pay for the entire cost of the shirt, but I would have accepted pretty much anything as a gesture of good will. I walked in to calmly speak about this with the man in the front and who, as I mentioned, I have brought clothes to for years. He immediately flew of the handle, yelling at me to bring it back to the store (I told him it was a vintage piece from The Real Real so there was no store), that there was no way he would pay me a dime, that I could pay HIM to try again (LOL!) and then ultimately started screaming repeatedly, "TAKE ME TO COURT I DON'T CARE!" I am flabbergasted not only by San Toy's hack dry cleaning but also by their lack of accountability and care for their customers. There's a zillion dry cleaners in Park Slope and I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. This place sucks. read more

The owner, Michael, was so kind to me when I showed up with an enormous stain on a brand new cashmere sweater. I was worried that I had completely ruined the top, but I returned just 4 days later to a shirt that looked and felt perfect! They really should charge more for their services. I went here for two years and never had problems with dry cleaning or clothes laundered. They even repaired my laundry bag when it ripped one time as a courtesy. I am sad to have moved away now and can no longer use San Toy. I estimate that it costs me an average of $23 and 3 hours to do 2 weeks worth of laundry (for two people) myself. At San Toy, it costs me about $38. An extra $15 to save myself 3 hours of work? Hell, yes. They aren't the greatest at folding but they are incredibly kind people who have the best turnaround time ever. Other places charge me 30% more and when I show up asking for next day service they say no, they need two days. San Toy can give me same day service, if I show up early enough, for the same price and they never turn me away. Once, I got same day service after dropping my laundry off at 3pm. 3pm!!!! Save yourself the time and effort of doing your own laundry and let these guys do it for you. Unless you are one of those crazy people who are very particular about your laundry. Or those even crazier people who actually enjoy sweating their ass off folding tighty whiteys...like my mother! I want Mr. & Ms. San Toy to adopt me! read more

I had SUCH a good experience there. For the same price my former laundromat charged for the dry cleaning of one raincoat (27$), San Toy sewed a button back on, dry cleaned a wool coat, and cleaned a sunscreen stain off a blazer, all in a very timely fashion. read more

We LOVE San Toy! We started going to them because they were right around the corner and they are very inexpensive. Well, convenience got us there, but their friendliness and care have kept us coming back. At first, they seemed gruff and not friendly, but that quickly turned into asking how we are, doing more than asked for and helping us get rid of pesky stains. Frankly, they are the ONLY place I will drop off my laundry for as long as I live in Park Slope. They're the best!!! read more

They are great for same-day service but their pricing can be spotty each time, their folding isn't great (things will be left inside out, etc.), and sometimes you question how clean they got your clothes. We've had decent service for the last year going here regularly, minus the above listed items happening here and there, but we actually dropped one comforter off this week and got it back from them thirty dollars later untouched. It didn't smell washed and the reason we took it (food spilled on it) was in the same condition as it was dropped off. When we took it back for them to redo it, they said "oh, we must have missed that spot." If it goes in a washer, shouldn't it at least look like it came off some? It didn't put my mind at ease after questioning things in the past so we'll be using them far less now. read more

This is the worst cleaner I've ever been to in my life. Do not use this place if you value your good clothing. I gave them a silk chiffon blouse imported from France, that I wore for special occasions. They returned it with a gigantic hole, and had the nerve to claim they didn't know how it got there. Several times, they lost the belt to dresses. The back room is filthy. If you ask them to correct a problem, they blame the customer. Another time, a table napkin ring got stuck underneath a blouse that my boyfriend brought in for me. Any intelligent person would realize that this was a mistake. Instead, they cleaned it and charged me $6. read more

i've been going here for about 3 years now - mainly because the wash & fold and dry cleaning are so unbelievably cheap, and they always do same day service. yes, the folding is incredibly half-assed, and your clothes come back smelling like nothing. i'm okay with these things. unfortunately, i've lost a number of small items through san toy, such as cotton headbands and dish towels, and know for a fact that someone else has been losing their thongs, because they keep showing up in my wash & fold. the people who work there are really nice, but i'll be looking for better options in the neighborhood. read more

0 stars - This business does not do any work on premises! They do all washing and drying at the Laundromat at 173 7th Ave on corner of 1st. They dominate all the machines so regular users are made to wait for available machines. They use run of the mill detergents, not special handling, and I even observed them throwing an unwashed blanket in the dryer with lots of Downy smell good sheets. I just opened a bag of sweaters from a dry cleaning batch I did at San Toy and one cashmere sweater had a 2-inch shredded hole in the middle of the chest. It was definitely not there when I dropped it off. So, in addition to San Toy putting staples and straight pins through my silk and cashmere items, they've ripped and shredded one of them. Awful. I don't know how they are so cheap! 20 pounds of laundry only costs $14 to wash and fold. Their dry cleaning prices are some of the lowest, if not thee lowest in the area. The people who work there are also really nice and friendly. They are super fast, you can drop something off in the afternoon and get it back by 7 or 8pm. In summary, they are an amazing operation, and I don't know how they manage to stay in business given their ridiculously low prices! read more

I've used San Toy since moving to the neighborhood about a year ago. They're super friendly, crazy affordable, and have great hours. However. Recently I've lost 3 shirts to stains that appear on clothes I drop off for cleaning. I took one shirt to another cleaner so see if the mystery mark could be cleaned off, and was told that it's the result of gum that gets washed into clothes. I don't chew gum. Not sure where it came from. Another was dry cleaned improperly. This really is a recent development - the first 10 months I used them for cleaning were great. But I don't think I'll be going back any time soon. read more

We have used San Toy for two years and they have been great with no problems, but recently we have had our laundry come back with random stains, missing buttons... very out of character for what is usually great service and its very disappointing. When this happened with one bag of laundry, we thought it was a fluke. It has now happened to two bags of laundry with several shirts destroyed in total. TAKE YOUR ALTERATIONS ELSEWHERE! (The alteration service gets one star, but I was pleased with the owner's response.) The tailors along the stretch of 7th near my apartment all seem to have disappeared, so I thought I would try San Toy. I have a dress that needed to have the slip let out or slit. We decided to add an 11-in. slit to the side. When I brought the dress home, I found a 15-in slit up the back that left my bum hanging out. Moreover, the sewing along the hem looks like it was poorly done. Regardless of length, I don't think the new slit would last a wearing. I complained and got my money back. I will be taking the dress to be repaired elsewhere. Needless to say, I will not be using San Toy's alteration service again. read more

After a few visits to Brooklyn Valet left me feeling especially broke, I brought my stuff to San Toy and have been very pleased. For the price of two shirts and a suit at other places in the neighborhood, I can dry clean several dresses, pants, and shirts. I have been going to San Toy for years. The people who work there are amazingly friendly. If you drop off your laundry in the early afternoon it will be done by the end of the day. They will also use your detergent if you include it in your bag. Like the other reviewer mentioned, I also do not understand how they are so inexpensiveI Lastly, I often drop of my scrubs along with my regular clothes, and the scrubs will be returned in a separate plastic bag which is nice. Just to be clear THIS IS NOT A DRY CLEANER! This is a Laundromat. They are two very different businesses. If you have ever brought your "dry-cleaning" here its your own fault its not done correctly. If you look inside and don't see a dry-cleaning machine, where do you think your clothes are being cleaned??? With that being said, I really like this place. Its the cheapest LAUNDROMAT in the neighborhood, whether you are a wash-n-fold kind of person or like to do it yourself. Plus the woman always folding laundry and the young man working at the counter are really nice. The large dryers in the back are better than those in the front, more bang for your buck. If you plan on staying while you wash, bring your ipad, the Tea Lounges internet works great in San Toy! read more

I've been bringing my laundry and dry cleaning to San Toy for about 7 months, it's been good up until the last few months. I've had 3 items not make it home on two separate instances ($150 dress, $60 slacks, and a slip). The only time I brought items to be dry cleaned, only 2 out of the 3 were clean - when I came to pick up, only 2 of the 3 items were given back to me. When I asked about the third, they searched for a few minutes in the back and when I got home I realized it had not even been cleaned - but I was charged for it. They really are friendly people and I wanted to support a family-owned business but I will not be returning to San Toy. read more

I haven't written a review for a restaurant or bar or spa, but I'll write a review for San Toy because it is the best dry cleaner in Park Slope. During a wedding, my boyfriend somehow managed to get dried candle wax on his suit jacket. San Toy removed it and dry cleaned it.. for $4. San Toy also washed and pressed 4 dress shirts, a pair of slacks, and removed a small stain from a silk dress.. for a total of $21?!! It's friendly, inexpensive, fast and GOOD service - I mean.. why go anywhere else? read more

When I moved to Park Slope two years ago, the only downside to my building was that it lacked a laundry room. But this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as soon as I discovered San Toy. The couple who own the place have been there for close to 40 years. They're reliable, fast, inexpensive and very friendly. I've never had any problem with their laundry service or dry-cleaning. Price, value, quick return time, could not be any better. If you drop off clothes for regular wash/dry, you almost always have them ready within 7 hours, same day. Super high-quality service and price cannot be beaten for pretty much any service. Read the horrible reviews but gave them a try because a few of the reviews were older. Usually people clean up their act when they hear bad stuff about themselves.... Wrong!!! None of my clothes came back clean. You had my clothes for 4 days, did we forget to press the on button?!?!? They DEFINITELY weren't steamed or ironed because they came back more wrinkled than the way I gave it to them, and I'm sorry but the reason I dry clean my stuff is so it can be clean and ready to wear. Why would I pay you to give me back clothes that I have to iron again. And then to top it off they lost a piece of my dress. A 2 yard black sting that ties up the back of a corset dress. The sting is literally intertwined to 10 holes on either side of the back of the dress, a total of 20 holes. How do you manage to do that San toy???? I'm extremely disappointed, will NEVER step foot in this place again and I advice/warn you to not bother with them read more

I really wanted to like San Toy. They seem like a nice older couple who do good work, judging from the reviews. And maybe they do, if it was just laundry. But DO NOT bring your nice things to dry clean here. Plus, the woman is extremely rude. I brought in a white dress that had 2 ketchup stains (so stupid, I know). The woman sprayed something on it without even looking at the care instructions or anything. Fine, she probably knows what she's doing. I came back 2 days later and there were two large, light brown stains right on the chest and waist area. Whatever they did diluted the spots, which spread into fist-sized, brownish-yellow stains. The man said they'd try again. Just picked it up, and the large stains were still there. The woman said she sprayed the stains with something very expensive, and the man kept saying he couldn't see them -- even when I literally traced the outline for him. He still couldn't see. I felt like I was taking crazy pills! I kept thinking: I don't understand, you're a professional cleaner, why can't you see these stains? Then the woman starts bad-mouthing me in Chinese right in front of me, thinking I couldn't understand. WTF. I wasn't even being loud or rude, especially because I kinda felt bad for the man. I didn't know what else to do but insist that there are two large yellow stains on my white dress! She kept rudely talking about me in Chinese, so whatever, I was like, here's your money and left. Again, maybe they do an okay job if you didn't have specific spots you wanted to get rid of on, say, a dark coat. But shit talking about your customers in Chinese right in front of them... never going back. read more

This guy rocks, good service and friendly. Although, I really wonder about the environmental effects of dry cleaning. I guess this concern applies to just about any place at this point, but maybe there's a way to do more ecological cleaning and have the consumer know just what the clothes are being washed in. read more
