I recently got my dry cleaning returned to me with a set of missing car keys and a $100 bill that had fallen out of my pocket. The pick-ups and dropoffs can all be handled online which i appreciate as somebody not always inthe mood to call. Recently they doublechecked with me on the cost of drycleaning an expensive dress and got my approval ahead of time. I've been using them for years and finally posting here. The service is great and I've had very few issues, which they've always resolved quickly. The results are as good as a standard perc dry cleaner or better - no residual smell. I use them mostly for laundering shirts. They can do off-site pickup and drop off and offer a digital closet of all your scanned items. I brought a formal gown here with some tricky alterations needed. A different tailor in the neighborhood quoted me an insane price (more than the price of the dress). When I went to Bridgestone, they had a better plan for the alterations and the price was completely reasonable. They even offered me a $10 coupon. I came back to try on the gown once before picking it up. On each visit, the team was professional and prepared and so friendly and kind. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. They are incredibly stressful to deal with. The personnel at Court Street is polite, but they are disengaged and don't really care about the customer's convenience. I had a horrible experience around Christmas when they refused to deliver my clothes because their driver got a ticket at my location. After trying to reason with the employees for 2 weeks I had to escalate the matter to the manager who resolved it in no time. They didn't think to advocate on my behalf or anything... Then I recently found out that one of the shirts I gave them for cleaning was missing a part. First employee I spoke to didn't get back to me, I am still waiting to see if the second will. Oh, and the shirt still had a stain. All in all, terribly annoying, I keep looking for a good dry cleaner in the area. read more

Looking over the negative reviews, I have to wonder if they changed the staff here recently? I just started going here this summer, and both of the two men who help at the front are just as nice as can be! They are polite, AND friendly/eager to help, AND truly concerned about my garment...for example, when I picked up a gown that had been tailored, he asked if I was wearing it soon or storing it; when I said I was storing it, he went in the back and arranged the skirt so it was hanging on a second hanger, perfect for keeping it out of harm's way in the closet. They also seem super-apologetic if they ever have to keep me waiting for even a moment. I haven't had much dry-cleaning done here, but the tailor there is AWESOME! I brought in a dress and asked them to shorten the straps, but without cutting them, in case I needed them longer later--and not only did they completely understand what I wanted--the tailor was able to "tuck" the extra length into the strap and sew it up seamlessly and in a way that didn't make it bulky. Then, I brought in a dress in a tricky fabric with a hem ripped in multiple places, which he fixed perfectly. I brought the same dress back in a week later to have them reinforce a seam that was tearing, and they just did it while I stood there and refused to take any money for it. I walked out thinking to myself--dang, I have to review them on Yelp! I love these guys! (This, from someone who hasn't reviewed here in over a year...just to give you some perspective.) read more

Bridgestone Cleaners is really an exercise in how not to run a dry cleaning shop. The prices are WAY to high, the customer service is abysmal, and the product (well the service, actually) is just awful. Their dry cleaning is all done off-site, so mix-ups with dry cleaning happened quite often. The off-site cleaning also led to really long turnaround times to get your clothing back. The biggest problem I had with the actual cleaning service was that often major stains that I would point out would not come back even close to clean. To add insult to injury, my clothing would come back smelling awful, most of the time. With the astronomically high prices factored in, this place hit the trifecta of being a terrible dry cleaner. read more

They do a much better job than other places I've been to in the neighborhood. 10% more than other places but I was sort of fed up with the service I was getting elsewhere so I gave them a shot. I've only been in about 4 or 5 times but they already know me by name which is nice. Pros: * We've given them some fairly obscure things with specific instructions and they've always done an excellent job. * Very friendly staff. Always up for a laugh :-) * Despite what some reviews say they DO NOT do the dry cleaning off-site. They have two locations (I think) and they do all the washing at the one in DUMBO. The thing about slow turn around isn't true either, they always tell me to tell them when I need it. They do next day if you want it. * They use green cleaning products and methods * Coupons! They have special deals through the year Cons: * Well, it's pretty normal in NY but I wish they were open 7-days * I wish they didn't have to put plastic over every garment I have to say I don't really understand the negative reviews. One day Yelp might invent 1/2 star reviews, and then I will change this to 3.5. The place is adorable, which I have never thought about any dry cleaner ever. I feel like my clothes are cleaner just from being in the building. The service is generally really good. The clothes come back looking great. Seriously great. I didn't think there was a difference in dry cleaner quality before this, but Bridgestone definitely does a better job than any other dry cleaner I've used. Where I deduct stars is (like a lot of people mentioned) the price. It's convenient for me, and they do such a great job. So I'm still going to go, but not as often as I might otherwise. The starting price to get a dress cleaned is almost $19. And if it's silk or has sequins or whatever, expect to pay $25 or more. But if you have the money to splurge on dry cleaning, I say go for it. Your clothes will probably last longer and look better. I think someone else mentioned this, but definitely pre-pay in cash to get the 10% off. When your dry cleaning bill is as pricey as it will be here, that 10% makes a difference. read more

I am really bummed out to have to post such a negative review, but I am even more bummed about the state of my suit jacket and how much money I spent for nothing. I brought a satin suit in for tailoring a couple weeks ago, hoping to have the pants and sleeves hemmed. I am quite petite and made it very clear that I wanted the jacket sleeves to be above my wrist bone so that everything looks in proportion. The tailor stated that because of the detailing on the wrist cuff, the jacket would need to be altered from the top of the sleeve (shoulder). I was hesitant but trusted that he knew what he was doing, despite the fact that it would be much more expensive to tailor it that way. When they returned jacket I was shocked to find that it doesn't even look like it was altered. The sleeves still go down halfway down the palm of my hand and now I have no time to get it fixed before my brother's wedding. I am extremely disappointed and cannot believe I spent so much money on a basically non-existent alteration. When I tried it on in the shop both men who worked there just mumbled at me about it being how I wanted it, when I know for a fact that both of them heard me state multiple times I wanted it at my wrist bone. I was shocked, but not surprised, to have my concerns brushed off so rudely. If I'm paying this much money then I want it to be the length I asked for! It's absolutely ridiculous. read more

I expected this place to be good since it is wildly overpriced. I dropped off two dresses. One dress has two pieces. When I picked up my dresses, I found that they had charged me the cost of 2 dresses for the layered dress. Whatever. A small price to pay for the BEST IN NYC dry cleaner !! Waah!! However, I was also picking up a dress that was missing a button on one sleeve. The other sleeve still had its button. After I left the store, I noticed they had thrown out my (gorgeous, very unusual) original button sewed, on each sleeve, one that might look similar to the original if you were sitting 20 feet away in candlelight and had had too much grape juice. I went back to ask for it back. They said they would call me if they found it, so I left. They did call me to tell me it had fallen off in the machine because it was loose. Basically, this is the kind of place that says on their website they care about details and then they lose your buttons and kinda,sorta, say it wasn't their fault. This seemed like the kind of place that you don't mind spending a little extra money to have something tailored or cleaned. But I was very wrong.... Sadly, they lost my pants and decided to play games with me for over weeks after. I understand mistakes happen, but if you lose my pants, pay for a replacement. Don't tell me I have to wait two weeks to see if they show up (especially when they were custom for a wedding) and don't tell me there is nothing you can do (honestly, their first reponse was "sorry, there is nothing we can do....maybe they will turn up in a week"). The customer service was what I would consider flat-out shady (after telling me I would be reimbursed for buying a replacement pair of pants, don't ask me a week later to return the replacement so that you don't have to reimburse me, especially when you know I wore it). I searched for a while on Yelp before choosing a tailor in Brooklyn to hem my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding. All of the rave reviews swayed me to pick Bridgestone. Sure, the staff is very friendly but I did not have the same experience as most who have reviewed. I brought my dress in on a Saturday and was told I could pick it up later that week. I bought a different pair of shoes so I called later in the week to see if they had already hemmed the dress and was told they had not and that I should come in later that day before they closed so the tailor could remeasure. Very nice of them to offer. I left my job early and traveled to the shop only to find out that the tailor had left for the day already - he leaves two hours before they close which was not mentioned to me. The main reason for the two stars though is the fact that I went to pick up the dress the following Saturday there were numerous STAINS on it. It was a brand new dress that I had only tried on once and had no stains on it when I was measured in the store. I'm told that it is a difficult fabric and they will have it cleaned and deliver it to me on Tuesday. I told them that I needed the dress by 8am. 8:15 Tuesday rolls around and they are not there. I call and am told the driver running behind and would be there in 15 minutes. They deliver the dress Wednesday and, lo and behold, there are still stains on it - much smaller stains, but still stains. The wedding was this past weekend so I did not have time to send it back and risk getting back a dress with more stains or not getting it back in time so I was stuck with the stains. Bridgestone could have remedied this a bit with refunding me all or part of the $55 I paid to get the dress hemmed, but they did not offer - only offered to clean the dress and deliver it to me after I asked. I will NOT be returning. read more

Update: I called back to let the business know that actually the dress was damaged too. He called me two times prior that I missed. I thought the call can be peaceful, but actually he barked at me saying "I am going to make it hurt (that is a count of threat), you go around writing patty reviews... (I don't go around write bad reviews, but I did write a bad review about him), and where do you work? do you work at xxx place? (he mentioned a place that is no in the US, he can call international number all he desires). I told him I work at the government. And even explained to him he can only complaint about people's misconduct if they work at Department of Defense (DoD), he asked me what is DoD.... then I said yeah I mean I don't work at DoD, but I work at DoC (Commerce). He was like "great, I am going to make it hurt really bad, you barked at the wrong tree, my friend I am going to make you feel pain".... I think I might call 911. I have been charged close to 60 bucks for drycleaning a new TopShop Coat. He gave me a 25% off already (and it would have been over 60 bucks to dryclean a coat as such according to him, because they are of top quality). I spoke to owner Zach, and he promised to take care the situation - he inspected the coat but it was clearly came out of the dryclean shop damaged. 1) It has residual from brushing (found residual and dirt balls) 2) It has been damaged (from having washed it with either water or chemical). I am not sure why he cannot tell me on the phone how it was washed, he refused upon request to share information from database regarding how the coat was handled. There is no way he doesn't have the information, and he didn't want me to tell him because he probably knows it was handled wrong. By de facto, if a coat is shrunk - it was done wrong. Plus, he had me read the labels and all symbols were crossed. After, he just said let my driver pick up the coat, put the item back into the plastic. 3) No apology for anything were given. So I was really annoyed with him at this point. He promised to inspect. No "please", "sorry", were said. 4) This is the not first time I had problem with them. Their driver may have "lied" about not being able to park (we have a service parking - he just refuse to take directions). That is just lazy, not a lie per se. But being short and rude is not okay. The excuse Zach offered was it was new year so it is too busy. He promised all things would be done great after that point on. Next day, the driver came back and dropped my clothes in front of me. I came down as soon as I was reached, he could have called my cellphone instead of waiting for my doorman to ask me come down) and second time the driver was dropping my clothes on the ground. After two incidents in two days, I talked to Zach, that was first try. He thanked me prior for not writing the review earlier on. I was sick with flu and spent 25 mins on the phone with him clarifying how the driver first didn't stay to pick up the coat (first time has to be in person, I had to do the work to try to repair relationship with him. I took effort to do so and he promised to inspect the coat and over the phone just now he said he inspected the coat. Zach and his teams' lack of due diligence and care for his customers speak very well and clearly for this business. The amount of time he could have spent on bettering the relationship was only going to take him 2 seconds to say "sorry" but he didn't and was crude, so I was mad. And, now I am writing this review only takes 1 min and 10 sec. I gave him a second chance and he ruined it. NOW, this is final try, and after he wasn't taking responsibility to tell me the TRUTH over the phone or showed more sincerity or apologize for anything. I am writing this very unhappy review. I wish they would care about their own living-hood a little bit more. I am sure dad is very proud of him. read more

I love everything about Bridgestone. The service is impeccable, including sweaters that miraculously come back looking not only clean but new (de-pilled without my asking), clothing that is *perfectly* folded for travel, orders always ready either on time or early, text messages to say when items can be picked up, and staff who remember my name. I even appreciate that a blouse I picked up this morning, which had a *tiny* stain on it, had a thoughtful little card attached to it, apologizing for not being able to remove the stain without potentially damaging the garment. How much nicer to read that than to put on the shirt and discover it on my own. This shop might be a little pricier than others in the neighborhood, but the value makes it well worthwhile. seriously yelp, add an option for negative stars and offer cumed ratings. this place needs to be alerted to the better business bureau because of the way they straight thieve from customers. it's awful and I hope people currently patronizing this place move to other cleaners in both neighborhoods. the sad part is they have this super nice chic from the islands working at the desk part. she's cool but has no power. it's too bad she works at a place where the customer is taken for such a ride. also, DONT BE FOOLED by their signage (online and in-store) about Customer Satisfaction and happiness. On two occasions I was very clear about my dissatisfaction, presented my dissatisfaction to the manager, and was not remedied in any way. stay far away from both locations. A few other things: 1. they charge a ten pound minimum for wash-n-fold. i dropped off less than 5 pounds but they charged me for ten. this policy is not listed on their price list in-store. their manager doesnt/didnt care about this. 2. i think dry cleaning a dudes shirt here is 7.50. Its def between 7-8. I learned the hard way cause i didnt research the fine print of the pricelist. 3. dont depend on their delivery driver to show up on time. I love Bridgestone! They're so friendly and accommodating and often will do a one day turn-around on wash and fold if you request it. They're a little pricier but free pick-up and drop-off is included in that so it's well worth it if you are small like me and don't want to lug your laundry around. I am choosing to write a review because I had a circumstance that everyone has had at a dry cleaner or laundromat and it was handled with the utmost professionalism and thoroughness. I brought my favorite sweater to be cleaned. It was very delicate. When I picked it up the weave was completely blown out and the sweater was ruined. Needless to say it was irreplaceable and I was very upset. Zack at the Dumbo outlet of this dry cleaner took over. He was professional, courteous and very set on fixing the issue so that I was happy. He had the sweater picked up at my door, brought to a weaver and delivered back to my door a week later. The sweater is not perfect, it is not as it was, but they did a hell of a job fixing it and it is wearable. Most importantly, these things are bound to happen anywhere. You want a place that cares this much when it does. read more

Bridgestone Cleaners has a friendly staff, and they are very conveniently located on Court Street in Cobble Hill. You pay a bit more for the eco-friendly cleaning method. I continue to use them for my dry cleaning needs, in part because of convenience and in part because overall the staff is friendly and professional. Additionally, they give coupons for 10-15% off and for a person like me that accumulates dry cleaning so I don't go every week, this is really worthwhile. I had one bad mistake where they lost a garment and at first acted like I never brought it in. But when the garment was finally found, the employees were very conciliatory about it. They do a decent job on basic hems (that and tightening buttons on a coat are the services I have tried beyond dry cleaning) and they once saved a casual winter coat in baby blue and white from being ruined. They told me frankly that a coat in a light color gets soiled and it can be very hard to remove certain set-in dirt. Bridgestone did a great job of making the jacket look as good as possible, and I was really pleased at the results. Writing this review reminds me I've got some items to take in before they get retired until next winter. read more
