I am baffled how anyone can write a positive review on Brothers. They are rude and incompetent. Here are my issues to date: 1. Inability to do a good job on the first clean, e.g., I bring a shirt, point out the stains, and come back to see the stains still there. I then point out the stain again, and they take note of it and clean it again. After the second clean, the stain is gone. Why not take note of the stain the first time? 2. They're incompetent tailors. They take shortcuts and do not take ownership of their work. I have taken a pair of pants to get a basic hem (not origin hem) and they came back with poor stitching. I even provided a sample that had been worn for six months, albeit by Alteration Specialists, and its stitching looks better. The adage, you get what your pay for is true. Want poor quality go to Brothers! 3. They are flat-out rude and dismissive. For instance, they demand payment and don't respond to "thank yous" or basic questions in regards to garment care. If Fort Greene wasn't a dry cleaning desert I'd go elsewhere. Come to think about it, I'll do a dry cleaner test and report back on the best one in the neighborhood. If you're OK with poor service and quality, then Brothers Cleaners should be your go-to. read more

Finally had to write a review for this place, which I've been coming to for dry cleaning and hemming the past three years. Let's start with the positives--their dry cleaning service is fine. However, I've had problems with designer jeans I've had hemmed there. Firstly, they usually hem the jeans shorter than I ask. Usually about a half inch. But sometimes more. Lately, the hem lines have been terribly erratic as well, as evidenced by my photo. I'll probably give the cleaners on the corner a shot. For a hemming job that probably takes 5 minutes and demands $10, they could at least sew the hem line straight. read more

If you're here for more than mediocre dry cleaning, look elsewhere. They did an atrocious job simply taking up the hem of a floorlength dress. While it should have evenly just grazed the floor, I got back a high-low hem with exposed lining. These were the heels I wore to the fitting... photo says it all. Dress ruined. read more

Very rude and subpar service. I was antagonized and told to "be quiet" after one of the cleaning staff attempted to silence my complaint (did not yell or curse-- simply relating a grievance) after bringing to his attention that they had sewn the seam for my sash shut (DVF Vintage Runway Dress) on the last visit and made an alteration error. He could not fathom how I just realized the error considering I had not been to the facility in a year. However, I have an extensive wardrobe and only noticed the error when I actually attempted to wear the dress. Regardless, the dress was in the system and the seamstress recalled doing the work. Improperly, might I add! Completely rude, shoddy craftsmanship- I was clear to them that I did not need to spend a single dollar at an establishment that does not appreciate my business. I had him untag over $100 worth of items that I was about to drop off for cleaning and he still had an attitude and "forgot" to give me a few articles of clothing back. I think not. No attention to detail... clueless when it comes to efficiently caring for designer garments. I guarantee you, if I wasn't a professional and confident woman of color, they would have very quickly remedied the matter. Classic case of individuals choosing to establish businesses in minority areas and treating those individuals who reside there as second class (when they themselves, are foreign). I am more than happy to take my designer clothing to Brooklyn Heights where they will be cared for and nurtured.... and I will be valued as a customer. Also will be in communication with the Better Business Bureau regarding ill treatment and discrimination. read more

I *expletive* HATE drycleaners. The great reviews (on google) convinced me to give them a few precious tops & a dress to dry clean back in December. I haven't needed to wear the items until now, so I'm only just seeing for the first time what was done to my clothes. I've just learnt an important & painful lesson to ALWAYS check the clothes at the time of pickup. ALL my clothes look like they were run through a high-heat dryer at least 50 times. A lovely yellow top which was once a soft, supple cotton now feels hard & brittle, and is slightly faded and pilling with bonus discoloration spots. My white dress which was of great sentimental value to me is now a dingy white and looks worn through (I'd only worn it once!). Another white patterned top is now also a dingy white. These were all cotton items. The only item that escaped unscathed was the one silk item. I am SO upset and angry. If I'd checked my clothes at the time of pickup I would've demanded a refund. I'm never returning here. read more

I loved this dry cleaners, they were always super nice and did top notch work. I just went to pick up my work pants and pay the cost in cash and coins. They looked at me like I had two heads when I pulled out the coins. Which it then turned into a Seinfeld episode of them chatting in their native tongue and not even conversing with the customer (yours truly) to which I had to ask what was the problem. I offered to pay via debt card, but they said that it was now a $20 minimum. In the end they requested that I go to the atm next door for more "cash" since they were not taking the coins. Hmm, so as small businesses try to survive, they alienate their customers culturally and financially. Nice work Brothers. Best of luck. read more

My fiancee and I have been taking our dry cleaning to Brothers Cleaning for about a year now after having some problems with the cleaners down the street. The service is wonderful and our clothing comes out great. Every time we walk into the store, we are greeted with a smile. Just today I was desperately looking for a place in either Brooklyn or Manhattan where I could get same day dry cleaning and lo and behold - Brothers was able to accommodate my request! I guess it's best to look at what's right in front of you before looking somewhere else. read more

They accept discover, visa and mastercard. Super friendly service and pick-up was Tuesday of the following week. Happy with their dry cleaning services. A few hours before I brought a corduroy skirt in I got two small red wine stains on it. I pointed them out and the (very nice) woman who works here said it would be no problem to remove them. The skirt was returned with two big bleach spots. They didn't say anything about it and it wasn't until I went home and saw the other side of it that I noticed. I should have just oxy cleaned it instead of paying to have it become unwearable. This kind of hit or miss service (and no mention of ruining the skirt) makes me hesitant to use them again. read more

Take my five-star rating with a grain of salt, because this was literally the first time in my adult life I have taken anything to be dry cleaned. I went out of my way to go to Brothers because all the other cleaners in the area had terrible ratings and warnings not to go there. I really didn't want this foray into adulthood to result in lost/damaged clothing/tears and so I think the extra few blocks were worth it. Brothers was everything I hoped for in a dry cleaner. Basically they took my clothes, recommended that I not send two shirts to the shirt laundry but have them dry cleaned as well to protect the print, and asked when I would be able to come pick everything up. Even though I was days late in coming back, they greeted me politely, gave me back my clothes, clean, neatly arranged on hangers, and in great shape. It was way less expensive than I thought it would be (I'd guessed "inestimable luxury") and now I can go to work looking like a professional! read more

This place is a-ma-zing. Have lived in NY for 25 years and they are hands down the most efficient dry cleaners I've ever dealt with. They take out any stain you bring. Any. Doesn't matter what it is or how old it is. They're like miracle workers. They also do alterations and so far all of mine have turned out great. They even altered my dog's seat belt, which is made of a thick, industrial type fabric. No hassles whatsoever. I've just moved to Manhattan and took my stains elsewhere only to get more stains. Had forgotten how crappy the majority of dry cleaners are. Will gladly schlep back to Brooklyn to enjoy their services again. read more

Oh wow. This place took 7 shirts, iron only, and when i received them in plastic they were so wrinkled they were unwearable. I went back and rather than apologize and refund, they became defensive and rude and lectured me on how a low temp iron works. I told them to either get the job done or call me to say they cant get the job done, but they insist that they can take and charge money for "trying". They were so incredibly rude and contemptuous of the consumer experience. Buyer beware. Update: after insisting, they redid it. 5 min later the job was done. So they clearly didn't "try" so hard in the first place. Very annoying. Never going back here. read more

I went there after reading the great review this dry cleaning store has. I dropped off my favourite suit and a Hugo Boss coat last Friday insisting to have it dry cleaned by Monday. They told me no problem, and indeed, there is NO PROBLEM. Both items are spot on and my coat -which is 5 years old and has never been dry cleaned- looks brand new. Great smile from them, very nice people and although it's a 15 mn walk from my place, I will definitly bring all my suits to them. 5 stars!! read more

tldr; they left a black marker stain on my dress and then told me it was my fault. ---- I really, really hate to write a Karen-esque review for a small business, but I'm pretty unhappy with the experience I just had: I dropped off a dress for cleaning a few weeks and it was rightfully pointed out that the hem needed repair, so I added it to my bill. A week later when I went to pick it up, I was happy with the cleaning and how the well repaired the hem was, however there was now a large black marker stain in the center of a white section of the dress. I pointed it out to the woman working there and she immediately comped me another cleaning. Great! Sometimes accidents happen and I was happy with how responsive and understanding she was. Today I just swung by to pick it up again and saw that, although lighter, the marker stain was still there. I asked the gentleman behind the counter if it could be cleaned again and he explained that doing so would create a hole in the fabric. When I told him the story of how the mark appeared and asked if there was anything that could be done, he crossed his arms and responded, "No. You made the mark. Prove to me that you didn't make it." Huh? At first I thought that I hadn't been clear so I told him how I assumed that it might have happened during the alteration process. I wasn't upset, I wasn't yelling, I was just trying to figure out what to do. However, he wouldn't listen and remained adamant that I was the one who had colored on my dress with the black marker. Look, I've worked a lot of shitty service industry jobs where people treat you like crap. I've had people try to lie, cheat, and steal from me at those jobs as well. I'm no longer working service, but I completely emphasize with how hard it can be and try to be at least the one customer who wasn't a total dick. When it became clear that he was on the defensive, I ended up just quietly taking my now permanently stained dress home. Taking a combative stance like that and essentially telling your customer that they're a liar is terrible service. If I were the owner of this business I would be embarrassed. All he had to do was to say, "I'm sorry, this was an accident and we aren't able to fully get it out" and refunded the ten or so dollars I had paid for it and everything would have been fine. I would have continued bring my cleaning there. Instead, myself and at least two friends who heard about this won't be coming back at all. read more

These guys did a fantastic job. I had a new silk skirt that I accidentally stained with lotion the first time I put it on (#*&$*#!!!!) a cashmere sweater and a dress and all of them came back looking like new. I was most impressed with the skirt because I wasn't able to get to the cleaners until about 2 weeks after getting the lotion on it, so I was worried that the stain wouldn't come out...but it is totally gone! Despite the fact that this place is pretty far from my apartment, I went here since it was the highest rated place in my area and I loved the pieces I was turning in for cleaning. Two of the items were coats (both thick wool, both expensive). One just needed freshening (there were no stains or anything), but I noticed they wrote down "lint" on the receipt. I didn't think much of it since I was in a rush, but when I got home after I picked it up I noticed patchy spots in the wool, which had previously been tightly knit and smooth. I remember seeing them go over a sweater with one of those little electric "razors" when I was in there and realized this must have been what happened to my coat. (I did not ask for this service). This previously sleek and pricy coat (my former favorite) now looks unkempt, cheap and shaggy. The other coat I turned in had some serious staining. I told them to do what they could and that I understood if they weren't able to get everything out. However, not only did they then proceed to pour bleach on my off-white coat leaving huge bleach stains, they didn't even get out the original stains!! They did not disclose any off this to me when I picked it up and I didn't realize until I got home. The white coat might be on me, but still devastated about the other one. Dresses and blouses that I turned in were fine, but in essence I paid over $100 to get 3 sheath dresses and a shirt cleaned and two coats ruined. So yea, I don't recommend it read more

I have never loved a dry cleaner. I love Brothers Cleaners. Every single cleaner I've used, even those fancy eco-friendly ones, has either done a poor cleaning job, or poked holes/broken buttons/left more stains on my clothing. But not this place. I will take ANYTHING HERE, and I am so particular about my clothes. Faux fur coats, embellished sweaters, wool skirts with metallic hand embroidery (they somehow got the stains out of that one!!), nice silk dresses. Anything. I recommend them to everyone, even if you're not in the hood. read more

There's nothing quite like unpacking $65 worth of dry cleaning to discover that you will need to re-iron every single item. Some items didn't seem to have been ironed at all, while others were done so poorly that you could see back seams of a shirt imprinted on the front of the shirt (i.e. they pressed it together, instead of front & back separately), and other items were hung in such a way that they got (re)creased on the hanger. Upon further inspection, several items also seem to be in such worse condition than when I dropped them off - seams & hems fraying - that it almost looks like they tossed them in a washing machine instead of actually dry cleaning them. Nice people working at the cleaners (reason for 2 stars), parking is very difficult, was using this cleaner for about 2 years. In the last 3 months I would get clothes and sheets back from them that had permanent stains. They would say it was something I did, because I liked them I let it go. Finally with the third item ruined, I have to cut ties with this cleaner. Good luck if you choose to take your items to them for dry cleaning. read more

This is my favorite cleaners that I have tried since living in NYC. I believe their prices are slightly on the expensive side, but they do a great job on your clothes and it is a very quick turnaround. Also, two other benefits: they're open on Sundays and they also pickup and deliver your clothes. The only downside (in my opinion) is that they don't have some type of loyalty program for customers -- I know a lot of cleaners that do that, so it would be nice especially for people like me that spend at least $100+ each time I have clothes dry cleaned. Oh, also, I wish that they saved credit card information on their system so that I wouldn't always have to use cash when I have my clothes delivered...but oh well. read more

It's a friendly place and we don't have many options for repairs and dry cleaning. I use them regularly even though the prices are really high. 5.25USD to dry clean a silk camisole. I recently tried them for a zipper repair/replacement. They did a functional job. They definitely use cheap/found notions. One zipper just needed a new pull - they replaced it with a rocawear pull obviously from some other coat, instead of new, generic zipper pull. The coat getting repaired was a Kenneth Cole brand. That found zipper pull cost 12USD. The other zipper needed replace entirely. The original zipper was a very fine guage, black plastic. They asked if a plastic zipper replacement was okay. I assumed it wouldn't be identical, but then again, we live in NYC, home of the Garment District. I told them sure, and also I'd be happy to pay and wait for an appropriate zipper to match the coat. The end result was a medium gauge, YKK, black plastic zipper. If you didn't know the coat before, you wouldn't know the replacement zipper didn't come with it, so it's okay. The stitching is adequate, but not fine, and they fixed a rip in the lining. So I'm okay with the results, but it's lesson to me that if I need a repair were I care about the result, I need to find a place that really cares about details. read more

Brothers Cleaners on Waverley you the real MVP! After taking shirts and jackets to an unnamed dry cleaner in Clinton Hill to only have my clothes come back looking the same, I made the executive decision to walk a few blocks out of my way. Best decision I've made on Saturday since I moved to NYC. They were able to remove lipstick from two blazers of different fabrics. And, also clean the shirts the other guys did not. I appreciate the kind demeanor of the man who receives and sorts my clothes when I arrive. They have a quick turnaround.
