I cannot thank you enough!  These are fantastic.....   I was mesmerized by the lightness.   That is nothing compared to how well I can see out of them.  Driving.  Reading.  Computer monitors!  I cannot recall ever having such a small differential in how I feel I see when comparing contacts to glasses.   Experts produce outstanding results....you indeed are an expert.   And for those reading this to wonder if it really is worth it to drive from West Hollywood to San Diego for some prescription glasses? I came to Europtics as I was looking for Salt frames (which are my go to) but came out with 2 pairs of glasses as they had such an awesome selection to choose from that I couldn't pick just one. His store has the most beautiful and unique selection of various European eyewear I've ever seen. And the service is excellent. If your vision is important, Europtics will get the prescription right. Because of sinus infections, I cannot wear a nosepiece. Europtics ferries Lindbergh rimless titanium frames. Europtics fits me with a smaller lens that isn't too heavy so the weight will not bother my sinuses. Top notch service all around. read more

When I visited the shop, I was so happy with the beautiful styles and colors available, and they can be custom-made to fit my needs. Vohn was great in helping me with my first purchase and gave me his expertise advice, so I could choose the best eyeglasses for me. Zach was wonderful as he helped me with adjustments later on to fine-tune the fit, and he gave me some good tips on caring for my eyeglasses. I have been coming to this store since they were in San Marcos 5 years ago. Today I had a bad experience with them. I was always offered to replace my lenses before the end of the year of ordering them free of charge. Today I looked for them to replace my glasses with two pairs of glasses and they reluctantly replied that I had to pay $ 50 dollars for each one. this never happened before, I always confirmed with them about replacing my lenses before the year and they answered yes. I do not recommend this store any more, first for not keeping their word, second for the challenging way they treated me today. read more

Europtics has the best selection of designer eyewear in San Diego County. They are very service oriented and took extra care with measurements. They did not object to redoing the glasses when the prescription was off a bit. They followed up to make sure the glasses were working well for me. My husband and I have been going to Europtics for 3 or 4 years now, and will not go anywhere else unless we absolutely have to in the future. Doug and Marianne are really masters of their craft. They have a very well curated selection of both traditional and sunglass frames. At first their selection may seem small compared to a large storefront like a LensCrafters, but their selection has more than enough options for every style. They have a variety of brands from the really popular (Ray Ban, Maui Jim, Persol) to lesser known but just as stylish (the SALT frames they carry are my fave!). A lot of the frames they offer are handcrafted, which I love. Many of the frames they offer aren't the cheapest, but the quality warrants the price and for something I wear on my face everyday, I'd rather pay more and get a pair of quality glasses that are super flattering. The quality of their lenses by far surpasses any other pair of glasses I've owned. Doug and Marianne really take the time to make sure each pair of glasses they make are absolutely perfect, so while there's no "one hour lens" option (it usually takes a few days to a week) it it well worth the wait to get the quality of lens they create. They take the time to fit the frames once they are done as well so you know walking out they will be completely comfortable. We've always been kindly greeted, and have had phenomenal help with choosing frames that suit our style and look great. They readily give opinion on fit and frame size, which I really appreciate versus just being let free amongst a sea of frames without any guidance on similar shapes and sizes. read more

I see all of these reviews, a host of 5 stars and a lone "1-star" review from a lady who spent 2 grand on eyewear. You just can't please all the people all of the time. In my world, a business is either 5 star or no-star (ie: 1 star). Europtics is one of those high end strip mall type places that I usually bet against staying in business. But I think proprietor and glass-smith Doug gets it right. He's a craftsperson who does top end work, so it isn't a low-ballers market at this outlet. I brought my wife in to look at some high-end designer frames fro her. She needs special lenses and also a frame to accentuate her features. We had a pleasant experience their and found that the owner wanted to work with us and that he could solve a lens problem for us without being prompted to do so. This is why owner Doug, his wife and their team can stay in business through the various cycles. A great place and we were happy to do business there. read more

I don't write a ton of reviews, but I feel like one is warranted here. I recently took a pair of favorite sunglasses I had to Europtics and asked them to fashion new lenses with a small prescription. "No problem, you'll have 'em in a few days" I was told... ...when I came to pick them up, they had produced prescription lenses with a shaded lens - problem was I was looking for a clear lens so as to drive at night. I'm honestly not sure if I simply placed my order wrong, or something else got mixed up. But when the owner Doug was explained the problem, he immediately apologized and took ownership of the issue. I said "No worries, this stuff happens", to which he replied "Not here it doesn't". Conclusion: Doug came through with the clear lens I was looking for in just 2 days time, upgraded the lens quality at his expense and totally blew me away with his old school approach to customer service. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a personal touch to visit this shop - I was very impressed at how Doug handled this issue and feel like this type of thing is what's missing in many customer service interactions these days. I was looking for durable titanium frames and well-made high refractive index progressive lenses. Zack at Europtics directed me toward Lindberg frames and Shamir lenses. The frames hold the lenses with friction and the hinges are coiled wire, so there are no screws. The progressive lenses are excellent and scratch free. These glasses are outstanding and are about half the weight of my previous pair (12 g vs 25 g). My prior glasses contained copper and the nose pads were constantly turning blue-green from oxidation; that is no longer a problem. I am hard on glasses and have not had any issues since I picked them up (18+ months). Partly due to the light weight and partly due to careful fitting, adapting to the new glasses was fast and painless. Everyone at Europtics is patient with measurements, adjustments and advice to make sure your money is well invested. read more

I have had my nose broken in the past and it's hard for me to wear glasses but my optometrist suggested I lay off my contacts because of the possibility of scaring on my eyes. The staff was awesome and let me try on as many pairs as i wanted giving my honest opinions about how they looked. I love my new glasses the anti glare coating on them is amazing I don't have any trouble when driving at night now. I have been suggesting them to all my friends and and taking my son in to pick out new glasses next week. read more

We had such a bad experience at this shop! They have a nice, upscale selection of frames, but their service after the sale is abominable. We bought an expensive frame form them, that needed to be adjusted . The older gentleman, who is the shop owner, could not have been more rude, unfriendly, and unhelpful. He made us feel as if we were bothering him. He told us not to come back in the morning if we needed further adjustments, but only in the afternoon because he was too busy for such things in the morning. We will be more than happy to take all our future optical business elsewhere. read more

The store is small but has a beautiful selection of sunglasses and prescription glasses. I will wholeheartedly come back and purchase from this establishment. Check the store out its on Coast Hwy and there is an array of cute shops you can visit. This street makes a great family outing and you can dine, go to the beach after your shoping. The social nightlife is good too. There is lot of bars and food and I can pretty much say there is something for everyone. So give this store a vist! read more

This is a very charming little shop, in the charming little Lumberyard district, with a charming couple running it. This place is set apart from other optical lens shops, because of it's great (and unique) selection. Their selection is actually something quite admirable. I ended up purchasing a very nice pair of late-model Ray-Bans, but it was a difficult choice! The lady that had helped me was very helpful both the first time I came and looked, and the second time I came and purchased. The only complaint I would have is towards the steeper prices and the fact that they didn't accept my optical insurance. Other than that, it is actually a pleasant little eye-wear boutique to shop at especially if you're interested in unique/new frames, and you can also get good insights and style opinions. read more

The folks here are incredibly kind and generous. My fiancée lost a nose pad on her sunglasses while on vacation and they replaced them for her quickly and didn't ask for any compensation. I bought a pair of Ray-Bans from this store, and I enjoyed my first visit. However, the second time I came back to the store the woman at the front desk tried to up-sell me with all these costly brands I did not like very much. The third time I came back, I browsed and left. I was in the parking lot for about 20 minutes making phone calls in my car, and noticed a fellow colleague of mine walking out of the store with another one of the employees. I said "Hello" to the friend of mine, and the lady walking with her accused me of stalking her; yes STALKING her! The lady was in my face to such an extent, that I didn't have the opportunity to explain myself, so I simply apologized (falsely) and left. I was appalled by this outrageous accusation, and my experience with this store has been ruined. This was more than ridiculous, as my behavior did not warrant such a response. If I could give negative stars, I would. This was just downright ridiculous. Go somewhere else for your next purchase, before you are accused of dealing drugs or committing murder. read more

In the 25 years I have been wearing prescription glasses I have been to a lot of Good optometrists. They have taken good care of my eyes and suggested the best contacts (Biofinity's). However, when I recently got lenses put into my frames @ Europtics, he asked me how the craftsmanship was? No one has Ever asked me that and I didn't know how to answer! As I took a closer look, he shaved down the heaviness of my lenses, buffed them out, made them look Great! They are extremely knowledgeable about there product, which is high-end. I got my new glasses with polarized lenses and Doug kept telling me that I was gonna see a whole bunch better when I had them on. In the store everything was a little red tinted I really didn't notice until I got outside and got my car. Unbelievable, crazy, couldn't believe it I was seeing it made everything look I thousand times nicer outside. I wish I had done this 30 years ago. The only problem is I'm going to have is I take a lot of photos and when I think I'm seeing something good it really isn't. read more

I went into Europtics with the idea that I wanted to step outside of my box and try some completely different frames. After looking through the many incredibly stylish frames in the store, I did just that. I received my new green oval glasses within a very reasonable amount of time and I started wearing them. Much to my disappointment, the frames just didn't work for me. I was worried that exchanging the frames would be difficult, but the owners made it so easy! I went in, found a different pair frames that I fell in love with and was told that I could pick the new pair of glasses up the next day.
