Go see Tessa G. in Optical! Superior customer service and fabulous to work with in helping me select prescription sunglasses and an extra pair of glasses and that look good for my face shape. The frame selection can't be beat and the prices, especially during the sale is incredible. read more

I asked two simple questions and the lady was a complete b***h about it. I wanted to know what time the eye doctor was there and what their phone number was. First off she didn't even know the times they're there or when it opens or closes when there was a literal sign on the office. Like how do you work there and not even notice your office hour signs? But I digress, her attitude for telling me the phone number, I asked her what it was and she said it hella fast as if I'm suppose to catch what you're mumbling? So I asked her nicely to say it again but again she mumbled and said it hella quick. So I got fed up and said can you just write it down? Her response was "sorry honey I'm busy" meanwhile doing absolutely nothing. Like wtf? It's your job to help and provide service and answer questions. You can't freaken multitask? Who the hell is hiring these dumb pricks? This all unfolded on 9/8/2026, some lady in her 40s Hispanic and curly black hair. I don't know her name because I didn't catch it, but boy fire this lady. Hella rude for no reason. read more

The staff were super helpful and they had a good selection of glasses.I was able to get a same day eye appointment for glasses and they even managed to get me in earlier than expected too. The optometrist was really nice and the people working the counter were really helpful and painting when I picked out my glasses. I was able to get good frames for a better price than if I went to another place. read more

George did a fantastic job of helping me select frames and options for 3 pairs of glasses. He did a very professional job on the fitting as well, and the whole process took about an hour. The total price after insurance was $540, which is HALF the price of ONE pair at my Optometrist's office. read more

Excellent service and the best kept secret about Costco ... saves me over $500 compared to a private optical shop each time I get glasses! (And half the price of Walmart optical) read more

A fraction of the cost of glasses almost anywhere else. Service is easy and fast. Not the biggest selection but good enough.

They have glasses that only fit on small headed women, not enough variety, their lenses are great, glasses selection is seriously lacking, do better, not everyone in California is Asian! FACTS! read more

What a scam... Bought my lenses here for years. Finally getting cataract surgery so simply needed to have one lense with simply glass and no Rx to cover me until my second eye is done in 30 days.... First, they need an Rx for no prescription? Not logical. Secondly, even if they could do it would charge full amount. Refused to tell me how much. I will go back to Carlsbad Optometry and they will do it gladly- even though it was Costco's prescription. Worst part was smug optician at Costco who simply said, "why don't you just pop it out". Really? They let you talk to people? I've never met a jerk working at Costco until now. Go elsewhere for glasses. read more

The office is very small and finding parking at costco was a hassle. Other than that, good service.

These guys are great...I've had great experences with Costco Optical ...including a recent experience where i ordered glases and it turned out to be a bad percription( by the optomitrist at lenzcrafters) ...really had a hard time with these glasses...I made a quick appointment with Dr Cavanah at the Costco location ,,,and sure enought the origional RX was wrong!!...Dr Cavanuh took her time explaned the differences and gave me the proper new percription Although it was not their fault Costco Optical (carefully made sure theses new lenzes would meet exact specifications as the were set up as transition lenzes) sent my glasses back out to get the corrections...one week later I picked up my new glasses and the are perfect...best of all...NO EXTRA CHARGE..( And 1/2 the price of lenzcrafters!! read more

Janet is the sweetest person ever! She helped me out a lot! I was struggling to find the perfect frames and she suggested a pair and they were PERFECT! She knew the shape I was exactly looking for! Thank you so much for helping me Janet! read more

This review is for the Optometrist's office NOT Costco's frames. It's a tiny chaotic office. Michelle Ahumada O.D. told my husband he was not a candidate for lasik without him asking her opinion. I believe the only way to be able to make this accretion is to be evaluated by a ophthalmologist who specializes in eye surgery. She did a rushed eye test and when the glasses came in they were blurry. My husband returned them and she laughed and so "oh I like to add to the prescription and make them stronger" That is just wrong for a couple reasons! He had to have her retest his eyes and return the glasses to have them corrected. I recommend getting you're eye exam elsewhere, but the frames and prices at Costco are good. read more

I recently got a prescription for eyeglasses and filled it here. The optical department must do great business, it is always crazy busy. The prices are really good but they are severely understaffed and slightly disorganized. There really should be little numbered tickets for service. The staff was helpful and explained the differences progressive lenses, bifocals, tinted lenses and computer glasses. I got progressives but I really needed computer lenses. They were really accommodating and exchanged them for the computer lenses. I had to wait about 30 minutes to pick up redone glasses and they lost my glasses case. The staff was a bit sharp when I asked for the case and explained that the redone glasses get put into the throwaway cases and that I should not have sent the case in. How the heck could I know that? She eventually offered to order some but in the process after she made me feel like it was a huge hassle to do her job. When a business makes a mistake they should be nice and not make the customer feel bad for asking for what they already paid for. When came to get the case I ended up having to wait for people to get fitted for glasses and purchase them. This was really frustrating, I should have been out of there in a minute but it took 15. They really need to have separate lines for ordering new frames and picking orders up. read more

This will be my last optical exam at Costco. The only thing they seem concerned with is selling add on services and getting the payment. The young Dr. Linda Hyuegn had no customer service skills whatsoever. Her communication was terse and came across in a tone like she didn't give a shit. Very sad. The whole experience lasted less than 20 minutes and I feel as if I wasted my $89.00. Sad. Stay away. Spend an extra $30 bucks and go see a reputable optometrist. The value did not exceed the cost. read more

Excellent care and went to extra mile to ensure the prescription was correct. Glasses came in on time and the pickup was seamless.

I brought Costco a prescription from my eye doctor since I'm paying cash for my glasses I also left my frames with them. They said it would be a week and they'd be done by the following Friday. I called and checked in when shopping, nothing. Finally I called Wednesday and they were in. Um, were ya gonna call me? 12 days later too??? I went over right away because it's been hell not having my glasses. I get there put them on and turns out they had the readers too high on a progressive lens, they don't work at all ...so now I wait again for the issue to be straightened out and I never go there again. They didn't offer to rush them or offer money off. They don't care Big mistake read more

Great service, fast and easy. Get my exam for contacts and eyeglasses. However I don't buy either of them here. I order my contacts through 1-800-Contacts and bought my eyeglasses through Encinitas Optical on El Camino. (More styles!) I have bought my eyeglasses at Costco before but they have a limited selection. Other than that, I like getting in to Costco, loading up my cart, hopping into the office for a quick exam, and heading out. (OK honestly, I head over to the long checkout lines!) :) read more

Got glasses and frames from my local Costco (Gilbert, AZ) about 3 years ago and after about 2 1/2 years the coating started to peel. No problem as I had a new prescription anyway. Since I liked the frames and decided to keep them and just get new lenses, so I hand in my frames and lenses to get the new lenses made and fitted. Up to two weeks to complete. Waited the two weeks and no call so went in, they were ready (no telling how long they had been sitting there). I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks and have developed a bad headache from needing to tilt my head back to read a computer screen. Went back to my local Costco to see if they could check them to make sure they were made the same as my passed lenses. All they checked was the paper work and said they were. I realized that I had not received my old lenses back when I picked up the new ones, they gave some lame excuse that you got to ask for them and they are gone now. Really you just throw out peoples property that you have entrusted to them. Got a faint "sorry" as I was leaving. They have lost me as a customer. read more

Even though they are always super busy, they give excellent service every time I've been there. I especially want to thank Lori who was kind enough to call the lab to see why my contact lens was taking longer than usual. I love Costco! read more

From really BAD to really GOOD - different doctors made all of the difference! BAD experience with Ceclia Kavanaugh, O.D. My 16 year old grand-daughter told Dr. Kavanaugh that she still could not see the letters when the doctor was flipping lenses to create a prescription, but it didn't seem to matter. Dr, Kavanaugh indicated which eye was weaker and wouldn't listen to my grand-daughter when she said she had always been told that the other eye was weaker. We went ahead and filled the prescription for the glasses and my grand-daughter could NOT see - everything was a major blur. GREAT experience with Michelle Ahumada, O.D. Called to set up a re-exam and was lucky enough to get Dr.Ahumada, Even though our appointment was later in the day, she took a lot the time to make sure that my grand-daughter's eyes were thoroughly checked even though the optical department had closed. Here are the differences in the prescriptions...My grand-daughter can see with the prescription done by Dr. Ahumada Dr. Kavanaugh Sphere Cylinder Axis O.D. -0.75 -1.25 180 O.S. Plano -0.75 180 Dr. Ahumada Sphere Cylinder Axis O.D. +2.25 -1.00 180 O.S. +3.00 -1.25 174 Bottom line, if you want to get a thorough and accurate prescription, suggest you use Dr. Ahumada. BTW, Costco has a great policy - if the doctor re-does the prescription, they will re-do the glasses at no charge. read more

I am amending my previous review as I happened to be back at that Costco and went over to the optical department because c'mon $50 for 6 months of contacts is bargain and I had a couple friends who said they had recently been and received stellar service. Whomever I spoke to last time wasn't there and instead I was helped by a guy named Mike who was super helpful and informative. He understood and explained what had gone on with the whole contacts situation. It was a miscommunication by that employee and because Mike was so great, I have to chalk it up to a bad person rather than a bad system. Costco Optical, you have been given another chance! read more

The first gentleman who helped me here was awesome. Sadly, when I had to have one of my two pairs of glasses redone, I came to pick them up and dealt with Craig. Craig insisted the glasses were fie even though I saw differently in them than the other pair with the same prescription. Unlike the first gentleman who helped me, Craig was standoffish and turned to another employee to say, "I'm on break," with the most exasperated tone possible while helping me. Sorry Craig, I just wanted a pair of glasses I can see out of, but I'll be returning these and sticking with just 1 pair. Two stars, for the sake of the first gent. read more

Lori I the optical apartment is a great lady! I will be a returning customer because of her ! Thanks

I went to Costco vision center about a year ago with my prescription from my eye doctor what happened was just out right disappointing!!! I picked on Oakley frame and transition lens the price was fair so I proceeded to order the counter person M ended up losing my Costco credit card and blamed me for it ... accidents happen but don't blame me! I picked up my glasses a week later and wore them for about 3 months and the transitions stopped working. I went back and counter person S put them under the ib light and said this happens sometimes and this should help them this lasted a week and they started to do the same thing!! I went back and he said he could send them out but I would be without my glasses... I chose to try again and while I was there I purchased a pair of polarized sunglasses also from Oakley big mistake !!! They ended up ordering the wrong lenses and I was in the same place with my transitions they don't transition ! So they ordered the right lenses and I received them a week later after my fishing trip I wanted them for ! This was August it's now feb and I only use the sunglasses for fishing and snow driving or they sit in a case... the metal stem snapped putting them on unbearable not having any eye protection when I have paid for two pair of glasses this year to do just that! So I returned to this dreaded department of vision and after waiting 15 min I was helped by service person L with the worst attacking attitude like I was bothering her then proceeded to argue with me and tell me the glasses are over a year old but was looking at the wrong ones then finally conceded and saw I had purchased them in August, then proceed to tell me too bad this is normal wear and tear ... I wear them about once a month and am so careful it's absurd there isn't a scratch on the lenses my last pair lasted 6 years until a puppy got a hold of them !! Worst customer service horrible products and lack of care very disappointed to say the least shame on you Costco like you don't make enough money to to treat your customer properly! read more

Kind of weird customer service but not unfriendly. Just...different. The glasses though are great and were WAY cheaper than the last pair I bought at my eye doctor. Also, they only took 4 days to come in! Usually I wait 7-10 at least. So, I'm happy! read more

After going to an eye doctor and getting my prescription for glasses I headed over to Costco in San Marcos. Never had glasses before and not sure of the process. I took a number when I got to the optical counter and was then asked by a woman working there, "what do you need?" Not the best opening line of customer service, but ok... So I tell her I never bought glasses before and she says "go over to the wall and pick out frames" As I start to look another gentleman shows up for glasses and she takes him to the frames and starts explaining which frames are what. I guess I didn't qualify for that kind of service :( Well I finally find some frames I like and she is now helping this other gentleman. As I stand there waiting she turns to me and says "you need to go back to the counter and take another number. Someone will help you there" So not sure what I took the first number for but I go back to the counter and wait. Finally someone takes my order and enters my info. This was a different sales clerk but also no personality or even a smile. So my new glasses will be ready in about two weeks. I doubt I will return here for any more eye glass needs. I know that optometrists are WAY more expensive, but you get what you pay for. To anyone at Costco that might read this. Amazon is eating your lunch in the business world. You need to step up in the customer service department and treat your customers with respect. I will be letting my membership go later this year because it is just not worth it shopping in your stores. This is not the first time I have had rude or uncaring customer service, and if I keep going back it is more my fault than yours. read more

I have worn glasses for the past 40 years and have had an eye exam every year for the past 15 years. I have replaced my frames every 2 years for the past 16 years so I believe that qualifies my statement when I say that Danita at the San Marcos Costco is the least knowledgable and least qualified optician I have ever encountered. I have never purchased eye wear through Costco and based on this experience I can not recommend them to anyone. She was the attendant on duty when I arrived to pick up my new frames. She greeted me by saying "what are you here for", I stated my name and told her I was here o pick up. Danita handed me a form to sign and my eye glass case and walked away. SHE WALKED AWAY. I put the glasses on and waited for her to return. She called another number and began to work with another customer. I had to ask Danita to please come back and she replied "what do you want me to do?" KEEP IN MIND ALL NEW FRAMES NEED SLIGHT ADJUSTING AT THE EARS AND NOISE PADS FOR PROPER FIT. I had to ask for adjustments to the fit of the frames. I had to ASK and she replied "what do you want me to do about it?" I had to ask for something to read to check the fit and quality of the prescription. Danita was exasperated by my request for something to read and she walked over to the photo center for a flyer. She put the flier down on the counter and said " there some fine print there for you to read" and she WALKED AWAY. If you have EVER been to a professional before you would know what is wrong about that situation. If not, then this is not the forum to explain it to you. read more

Michelle Ahumada was so helpful. Went in for glasses and hard contact lenses prescription. She fit me for soft lenses that were perfect right from the start and no need for reading glasses anymore. The people who work here are the nicest and most patient people I have had the chance to met. I had to have my prescription refilled five times due to the incompetent people at Morris Eye Group. They refilled them every time at no extra charge. They did this we complete understanding of my situation and never once made me feel bad. Every time I came back with another new prescription they took the two pairs and refilled after the fourth time I saw the doctor at Costco. She saw me right away and said they had written me another wrong prescription she wrote me one and I had them refilled and finally I can see out of my glasses. I am very grateful to all that work in the optical departments. Very very nice and caring people read more

I ordered a pair of "office" glasses from Costco in November. I got them in less than 2 weeks. However, as soon as I tried them on (stupidly, I tried them on at home instead of at Costco), I knew something was wrong. The glasses didn't help me read any better. A few days later I went to Costco to have the look at the glasses. The staff member there didn't know what could be wrong, so he asked me to come back when the manager, Nicole, would be there. I went back the following day, Nicole took a look at the glasses, and found out that they entered incorrect information on the order form, so she placed a pair of replacement glasses on 12/16. Three weeks later, still no glasses. I went to Costco only to be told that the lab was still working on them. Finally on January 16 I went back and asked them to REALLY check on the order. They found out that this time they ordered the wrong FRAME on the order so they corrected it, again, and place another order. I finally got the glasses yesterday, tried them on, and realized that the reordered glasses are not any better than the first one, meaning they still incorrectly ordered the glasses! It's been more than two months after I first ordered the glasses and I am still without glasses! read more
