Got my child's eye prescription completely wrong twice! It turns out my child didn't need glasses after all. Very disappointed

She took the time to explain everything and answered my questions. On the other side of the store, the people who work there are amazing and provide great service. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I'm not a huge fan of the eyeglass frames they have in-store. I brought my own frames and they got me the best deal on getting two pairs of glasses AND a custom pair of readers. Lucero was my main lady and made sure all my glasses fit to perfection. They send out prescriptions so the wait time is about a week or so. Given that I require high index lenses, whatever lab they use did a freaking amazing job thinning those suckers down and rounding the edges so they don't dig into my skin. They even adjusted the arms of my tight sunglasses free of charge! So, if you're in need of getting your eyes checked and getting glasses/contacts, this is the place!

I never felt like they were ignoring me when they took a moment to greet another person. Good selection of frames-designers and generic brands and I was pretty satisfied with the price especially considering that I added on extra features and sunglasses.

Update: August 5, 2020. The day of returning to see what's going on with the new glasses…read more I am also upgrading the stars from 1 star to a 5 star. Why the change? I believe a doctor's skills and knowledge should not be judged and confused by the action or encounter with a staff. Doctor was/is AMAZING and VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWS what he is doing! Other staffs were/are fantastic! No question right there! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for you to visit and have your eyes checked up with him! QUALITY SERVICE by the doctor! (Please check my original review from 07/24/2020 for why I gave a 1 star). My appointment was at 11:15 AM PST today, August 5, 2020. However, I had to call in to switch it to a later time or day because I had a mandatory event going to make me late. Staff 1 or 3 picked up my call and kindly gave me a new appointment at 1:30 PM PST. I am VERY THANKFUL for that because I was even prepared to come back next day or even next week, because it was my fault to reschedule! So came my appointment time. I walked in a little before 1:30 PM PST. I met Staff 1, who greeted me with the usual friendly manner. I got checked in quickly. As quickly as I started getting dry throat and started coughing underneath the mask (now, for those who are reading this later, the year was 2020. It was the time of COVID-19 virus and mask requirements. I was not pulling off some Michael Jackson's glove equivalence and having my own fashion statement). Staff 1 was very kind enough to get me a glass of water. Very short wait and doctor saw and did a VERY THOROUGH and EXTENSIVE testing to make sure everything needing to be tested are done. And as expected before, it was not the doctor's initial prescription fault and nope, my eyes did not get worse during the very short time frame of 2-3 weeks either! The vision with the new glasses was as I have described before in my prior post on 07/24/2020. It was the style of the glasses, the goggle type with the securing strap at the back and the curvature/wrap of the lenses which made the goggle appearance, skewing the crucial points and subsequent vision. The prescription would have otherwise worked PERFECTLY, bless the doctor, in regular glasses style. Staff 2 was not there this time. Just staff 1 and staff 3. Staff 3 helped me out with the glasses this time, after I have been seen by the WONDERFUL DOCTOR! We all concluded that the fancy goggles-type glasses are too fancy that playing hard to get with me! Staff 3 (and everyone there today) was very nice in accommodating the patients. Staff 3 called the manufacturer of the lenses for a lengthy time to explore the options with the tech there for the best outcome and things to be or could be done with the googles-type lenses for the google-type glasses. THANK YOU STAFF 3! I will be receiving the call once the new lenses/modified frame arrives. I do not even care if the lenses cannot be fitted well into the goggle-type glasses I chose. This is an unforeseen circumstances due to the nature of the glasses style. Nothing to do with the staffs today or the doctor! THE SERVICE TODAY WAS SUPERB!

Dr. Osborne is a wonderful optometrist; he knows his field and isn't afraid to share his knowledge…read more I'm known for asking an endless slew of questions, but he answered every one. I came in for a check up and he ran a full battery of visual tests, some that I've never seen before. The exam process wasn't painful or discomforting; it was actually enjoyable to hear what the tests were assessing as they were being conducted (ex: I'm near sighted and wear glasses constantly... there's a part of the exam where you put on a non-prescription pair of glasses with a card extended outward from the middle of the frame... he asks you to read it aloud, and progressively pushes it closer to your eyes. If you're still able to read it the closer it gets, it means that you wear your glasses often enough to keep your eyes healthy -- awesome!). The doc's got a gentle touch too. I have a scar on my cornea, and warned that I've had it for a long time. Usually, they have to put a dye in my eye to make sure it's not a fresh wound... and more often than not, I get this huge orange droplet that splashes everywhere, or get that uncomfortable pressure when the optometrist pulls down the lower eye lid. That didn't happen here; I hardly noticed the drop. After the appointment, I had to up my prescription again and get a new pair (/fistpump -- YES! The old one was crooked and the lens was always popping out). The girl who helped me pick out a frame was dealing with some touchy customers, but that didn't stop her from walking around the walls with me and trying on new frames. She gave some great input and we narrowed down the choices to 3 pairs. I told her my motorcycle is my main source of transportation, so the deciding factor would be what's the most flexible pair that can withstand all the running around I'm going to do in them. I believe her name's Maria, so let's use that... "Where's your helmet?" Maria asked kindly. I didn't bring it, yet she was encouraging: "If your close by, maybe you/your fiance can run back real quick and get it! No rush of course, but that way, you can try on the frames with your helmet on." Talk about smart. I looked a bit dorky with my helmet on in the office, but I found a pair that slid on and off easily, even with the tight squeeze. They were Nike w/ Flexon frames and went "all out" on them since I love my glasses: transition lenses with the clear view coating to eliminate glare. I've got VSP insurance, so it came to $236 in total. Not bad, saying my last nike pair was $387. What a happy coincidence that this is the closest location to my house... I know you only visit the optometrist every year or so, but I'd look forward to visiting him any day of the week! I recommend his office to anyone. He's got a great staff and you'll be happy with the services you receive.
