Always had to be the one to follow up.. my sunglasses had to be sent back to the lab 2 times by the 3rd time I just took the sunglasses as is even if it had minor scratches they still never follows up.. won't be going back here. This office I've patronized for last 4yrs. Initially I found that the office staff was seriously lacking in customer service skills. When you walk in it's as if you're an annoyance. Negative atmosphere. Dr Sit, who I assume is the proprietor, should really be made aware of how patients are being treated at the front desk. There is a particular staff member named Tess that needs to be exposed. In the past I've brought in my own pair of sunglasses in and had this office process my prescription lenses. I always ask to have a tint applied which is greenish in color and comparable to Raybans G-15 tint. Never have I had any issues until recently. Apparently this office has switched labs for their processing and it is not for the quality but for their cost I imagine. I got my lenses back the first time and the tint was a light blue-grey color. Tess, the office staff, tried to explain that the green I wanted was proprietary to Rayban. That this color was the closest they could get. I was not satisfied at all. I asked to have re-done but was met with an unapologetic attitude which was quite offensive. She acted reluctant to have to send back a second time. When I was contacted to return again the same problem but worse than the first is what was produced by their lab. She again offered no apology. Did m no it offer to refund or grant any resolution at all. I was treated like I wa the difficult customer but in fact it was she that was unprofessional and rude. She was very good at giving an unfriendly glare was all. She said there was"nothing else she could do". In other words I was stuck with bad service and lenses that were dissatisfactory. I was forced to call my insurance company who contacted Tess directly to reverse the whole transaction. Upon returning I was met with dead silence. No eye contact. Heads turned down. Still no apology. I don't recommend anyone going here. As for Dr Sit. He is very professional and has given very thorough eye exams. He should be very concerned how Tess is treating his customers as he's lost this customer for good. read more

Only optometrist I've been to throughout my life that has been consistent (32 years I've been Dr. Sit's patient). Dr. Sit has taken care of my family and I forever. I saw the 1-star review below and needed to jump in on the issue: I was ALSO rescheduled at that time for the same reason. Understand, there is one doctor there, sometimes two. But if there is a medical leave, please understand they have lives too and customer service can only go so far when medical issues are in the way. If you expect different and round the clock service, try a big corporation and not a small practice. I promise, Dr. Sit is worth the wait. He is kind, gentle, explains everything, and always remembers me. He asks about my parents or the last time someone in the family made an appointment and how nice it was to see them. Yes, there is a new girl there. Ever been new at a customer service job? If not, then I highly recommend patience. This place has exploded with popularity after they moved locations, which has made them more visible overall. If I could give 6 stars I would! The front desk receptionist was polite, knowledgeable and helpful. Dr Sit is everything a good doctor should be. His expertise shows when explaining the circumstances behind my child's rare eye condition. We had seen other optometrists in the past but none showed the same level of expertise and knowledge. He even has the equipments to show the level of dryness in my daughter's eyes, and was able to explain the implications of wearing contact lenses under such condition. My first experience with this office was wonderful. The office staff is very professional and friendly. I was greeted promptly at the door, which they keep locked during Covid. I was immediately shown to an exam room and the testing began. I can't remember EVER going to a doctor's office and not finish reading a magazine in the waiting room before being called in. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE. Horrible experience my first time going to this Dr office. I had a feeling that I should have gone to the same Dr I went to last time, but I wanted to find an office close to my house in Escondido since I just moved. I found this place on my insurance website and it said I could save more money going here. They had 5 star reviews so I thought I would try them out and maybe make them my new Dr office. Boy was I wrong. They told me to arrive 15mins early for my appointment to fill out paperwork and I was the first appointment of the day at 8:30am. I showed up 20 minutes early and their doors were not open. Another patient and I both waited outside for them to open up so we could fill out the paperwork. Since they opened up late it made me go in to my appointment 15 minutes late which made me late to work afterwards. I had to take time off and use sick time to go to the appointment because I work at 8am everyday. So I was not happy about that. Then the front desk person proceeded to try to charge me $79 for a contact fitting even though the Dr had just read my insurance benefits to me because I asked about contact coverage. She said my insurance covers up to $60 for the contact fitting so I should have only had to pay the difference. I decided to wait on getting contacts since they didn't have them in stock anyways. I said I would think about it because I wanted to call my insurance to check what my benefits are since I was getting different information from people at their office. I called my insurance and they told me I should only pay the difference after $60 had been deducted. I called the Dr office and left a message with this info and asked for them to check my cost again. They called me back and said that I had too many questions and I wouldn't be a good fit for them as a patient so the lady on the phone asked me to not come into their office since I didn't trust them. Which I definitely don't. If I knew how rude they were going to be to me I wouldn't have gone there. Then the lady proceeds to tell me that they could bill my insurance for the contact fitting, but the doctor that owns the office prefers to not do that and they don't even tell the patient this. They expect you to pay out of pocket and not use your insurance benefits. They don't give the patient the option to have the contact exam covered by VSP. I have a $130 allowance and the Dr office says they charge out of pocket so that it doesn't use some of the allowance for buying contacts. I don't think this is honest business practice and should be told to patients. It's my decision how I want to use the money I get from my insurance. I don't need $130 worth of contacts. If they can just drop me from being a new patient because they don't want to give me all the information on what my plan covers and they get upset when I ask "too many questions" about it to make sure that they are billing me correctly, then something is wrong with this place. I worked as a healthcare provider for many years and the same patients would call all the time with questions about their healthcare and we never once told them to not come anymore because they had too many questions. Honestly it is their job to know about what insurance companies cover and be transparent with patients. read more

I am so disgusted with this place. I've been looking for a new optometrist in my area so naturally I do my research and I pick this place based on the reviews, plus it says "Accepting New Clients" I call, and the gal I spoke to didn't have the best customer service, she sounded young and just gave very basic information. I felt like I was asking the questions... I didn't let that determine the outcome, so I asked for an appointment, they gave me one about a month out, no big deal, after all the reviews are great. As my appointment approached I get a confirmation text for my upcoming appointment (6/28) shortly after I get the following message: Hi Graciela you have an appointment with us next week. Unfortunately we are going to have to reschedule our appointment. One of our staff members is currently on medical leave and we will be short staffed. We can reschedule for end of July/ beginning of August. We apologize for the inconvenience. JULY/AUGUST!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me!!!!! I waited over a month for this appointment and now they want me to wait 2 more, get the heck out of here! You don't do that to people. I text back and got no reply.... I started wearing glasses about 7 years ago, mostly for reading. The first time I went to an eye doctor was "Myeyedoctor" and they were okay, but I felt like everything was geared to selling me more. After my visit here, I think I was right. The doctor wasn't even sure why I had bifocals prescribed to me. My distance vision is spot on, still like a hawk. the last doctor had me believing my vision was dropping in distance as well as up close. I really liked how the doctor explained everything before he did it. He explained why we did each test before we did it. I left feeling a lot more educated about my vision and my overall health. the doctor was very friendly, and personable. After the test were done, the young lady at the front desk was very helpful when it came to picking out new glasses. i also liked the fact that when she told me it would take about 2 weeks to get my glasses, I told her I would be on vacation for two weeks starting on the 17th. she told me she would try to get them before I leave. If I don't get them in time, no big deal, but I love the fact that they will be trying for me. I'm excited that the pair I'm getting is strictly for reading, and that I don't need glasses for distance. I highly recommend this place, even when I leave Escondido I plan to continue coming here for my eye appointments. read more

In light of the Covid-19 era it is very difficult to get any decent information online or by phone from a doctors office. Even my own personal primary care physician won't let me speak with them on a medical issue without coming in the office. I had an issue with my eye being bloodshot and red for more than 5 days and become very concerned. I saw the reviews for the physicians at Escondido Optometrix and figured I would give them a call. I am so glad I made the call to Dr. Sit's office. The person I spoke too spent 25 minutes on the phone with me letting me know what i should and should not be doing for my eye. I am not even a patient and they are not seeing patients right now unless a medical emergency. Long story short the advise I was given helped me solve the issues with the eye 2 days later. Once open for business they have earned a brand new patient. I would believe all the great reviews and look forward to visiting their office very soon. read more

After years of going to Costco ( rushed in and out) and corporate optometrists (impersonal and focused on making money) I finally found an office that really examined my eyes. Even better was the detailed explanations of each test and result. - Dr Sit does a great job of both talking to and listening to his patients. - Be aware that the office visit will take a while (over an hour?). There is no idle waiting, just several tests, scans, and photos to make sure everything is okay. - Beverly the office optician is terrific. Smart, great attitude, and seems to love her job.
