Dr James Phung is a phenomenal optometrist ! He is the only one I've been to, and the only one I really need for eye care. You can tell that he has a genuine concern for his patients and wants to ensure that they fully understand their conditions (if any). He was kind enough to educate me on what diseases he is scanning for and safely walks me through the procedures of dilating my eyes (if I was comfortable with it) and how it helps him read into the conditions of my eye. One defining feature of his care is that he always likes to crack jokes and makes his patients chuckle. He is great to adult patients, and he would be especially great to children patients that might be scared of doctor visits. This is a small family clinic inside walmart, next to the ice freezer! Doctor Phung is hilarious! But aside from his amazing humor, he's is really good at listening if you have any concerns. He was very knowledgeable and examined my eyes further after I told him I usually get ocular migraines. He was fully booked on Saturday, but was able to squeeze my husband and I for an eye exam. His wife is also very lovely taking patients in. They accept insurance! And even if your insurance doesn't cover it, they are more affordable than other places. You can get your glasses next door or somewhere else if you prefer. Please give them a visit! read more

I recently had scheduled an eye exam with a low cost - 2 glasses plus eye exam for a fixed low cost - provider nearby (no names). Within the span of twenty minutes their optometrists - who were on a TV screen and NOT in person - gave me two different prescriptions. They disagreed by one whole diopter - one had my right eye at +5 and the other at -5. That's right they had me both positive and negative prescriptions within twenty minutes. And neither one was close. I could see better WITHOUT either prescription. This is just a preliminary to explain that I started calling around to find an actual in person Dr. who could see me. I reached Dr. Phung's office and Biri was extremely nice and managed to work me in on very short notice. I immediately went over and received a very thorough IN PERSON exam from Dr. Phung. He was very professional, thorough and had a quirky but enjoyable sense of humor, He even semi-insisted on dilating my eyes (no extra charge) due to my history of diabetic vision complications. Due to a slight cataract he wasn't quite able to get me to 20/20 but he DID get me to 20/25 and made sure that I was able to see all the letters clearly and WITHOUT blurring before writing my prescription. Don't be fooled by the fact his office is in a WalMart. Dr. Phung is a serious professional who takes care of your eyes very seriously. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Dr. Phung and his staff are the best. My husband and I have been seeing him for about 5 years now and just started taking our kids as well. The office is very clean and you could see them keeping things sanitary. Dr. Phung is so friendly and funny, very thorough - you never feel like he is rushing you in and out. I had heard good things about Dr. Phung from the employees at Walmart Vision Center, so I decided to make an appointment with him. I am so glad that I did. I have worn contacts for at least 30 years, and have never had an optometrist care so much about how my contacts feel or fit in my eye. Dr. Phung had me try on at least 8 different brands of contacts to find the perfect one. He also gave me a prescription for both Dailies and Monthly contacts. He is a very kind, patient and friendly person. I will never go anywhere else as long as he is still practicing. I also appreciate that he approaches eye care from a holistic perspective. Dr. Phung was so helpful and kind I found him on Yelp when I needed someone in an emergency situation and his staff was so eager to help in any way. They were able to squeeze me in between patients and get me in as soon as possible. Dr. Phung even emailed me back right away when I had questions and was so communicative which was so awesome to see in a doctor. You can tell he really cares for his patients. I don't even know where to start to describe my positive experience at Dr. Phung's office. It feels like I went to heaven just being around the doctor and his staff. My day started out with my former (meaning I will no longer go there) optometrist's office not willing to help, because of their mistake of giving me the wrong eye prescription. I walked out of their office then proceeded to take a chance at Dr. Phung's office for an immediate eye exam. They are able to slip me in since it was early in the day. The staff was extremely polite, kind and totally empathized with my bad experience that day.Then here comes Dr. Phung with his absolute wisdom and smooth and extremely funny jokes. Highly recommend! My family and I have been coming to Dr. James Phung Optometry for many years. Dr. Phung greats me with a smile every time and asks me how I've been. Prices is SUPER reasonable as well. I normally call in for an appointment, but have been seen the same day when I had an emergency case of pink eye.
