This was my first visit at New Optix, and I saw Dr. Thai. She was thorough but also quick. I didn't have to wait a long time to be seen, and the optometric tech who worked with me before I saw the doctor was great also. I always get the pictures of the back of the eye done at my annual checkup, and this facility's machine is the best experience I've had with that. At past optometrists, I've had to try to angle my face to get a good photo of the eye, but this machine "finds" the right angle on its own, and I just had to look at a green light. I appreciated the ease of that process. Dr. Thai recommended a different brand of contacts and gave me some samples to try before I decided on switching. Bonus: the new contacts already wear way better than my previous brand, and they are cheaper by $31/box. She also ordered some colored contact samples for me to try when I mentioned I'd like to have that option. One last thing is Dr. Thai had her small/medium dog with her, so if you're dog lover, you'll love your visit even more. Olive is sweet and calm. There was a sign up front to alert patients that a dog was present, plus the receptionist, tech, and doctor all checked to see if I was okay with dogs before I came into the room. Glasses should arrive in 2-3 weeks. I will be returning to New Optix for my next eye appointment! read more

I don't know why but every time I come here, even though I make an appointment and make sure everything's good to go before I head out and check in with them, I'm always waiting around. I had all my forms filled out and for my first appointment I came 5 minutes early and didn't end up being seen for 45 minutes. Felt very disrespected as a customer, no one bothered to check with me and I had to keep asking when I would be seen. I ordered glasses and they ended up getting the color wrong. I made sure to confirm the correct color but somehow they got one that wasn't even sold on that company's website. Even though this location was 30 minutes from my house I made the drive because I had a good experience with the Kearny Mesa location but this location left me with a really bad impression. I had to use my warranty to fix their mistake. My husband also got his glasses here and they messed his up too. Luckily we have great insurance and it was all covered so we just let it slide but we definitely won't be coming back here again. Update: I don't know why but I decided to give them another shot and again, there were issues. They refused to honor my $0 copay that my insurance provides and even though I showed them my benefits page with my insurance they had me waiting while they called the insurance company. When they did, the insurance confirmed that my copay was $0 when before they were trying to get me to pay $85-$125. If I wasn't aware of my insurance benefits, I would've been taken advantage of and would've had to pay out of pocket for something that is covered with my insurance. I've just been very disappointed here by the lack of professionalism and would not be able to recommend this optometry in good conscience. A positive experience turned bad. I went for my initial exam in 2022 and I liked the space, the equipment is newer, and the staff was very friendly. It is difficult to find a quality MCAL provider. I get it and I know the payout is much less so most places typically don't care to spend much time on you. I reached out to this office after having changes in my vision. I asked if my insurance would allow me to be seen earlier. After following up with them, they called me to say my insurance told their office manager this would not be covered and my only option to be seen there was to pay $159 out-of-pocket for an eye exam. I used to work at 2 different optometry practices so I have a pretty good understanding of my coverage/billing/process of this. I personally contacted my eye insurance and was told that I should have been allowed to be seen earlier as long as I met the criteria (which I do), but the office would have to call for an early authorization. I'm not sure if this is a lack of knowledge or an unwillingness to help me out, but it's upsetting knowing I could've been out $159 if I didn't know otherwise. Fortunately, my insurance was kind enough to provide me with a list of in-network providers and I was able to find early, covered care somewhere else. read more

I've been with new Optix San Marcos for over 3 years I bring my 2 children here to get their eye exam done and get glasses if needed! Today I called and Ashley picked up I needed to get my frame replaced cause my glasses were destroyed from me sleeping with them. Ashley answered all my answers she was patient and when I asked if they offered military discount for my frames she said they did offer it as long it wasn't apart of any of their promotions! She found the frame I currently have and they were in stock so I was super happy to get my frame the same day with my lenses! I hate to do this but I have to be honest. Their opticians are uncaring and not very thorough. You are dealing with people's vision. People who wear glasses all day. I received the wrong progressive height twice. Was a pain and stressful to deal with. They have unlicensed opticians who aren't focused on what they're doing. Noticed another customer complaining of the same thing while I was waiting... having to come back to get glasses re-adjusted due to the optician's unprofessionalism, incompetence, and lack of ethics. They don't take their jobs seriously. What good is the doctor that prescribed for you is great, if in the end you're getting horrible adjustments with the glasses from the opticians and wrongly fitting frames? Very backwards. read more
