This is a Medí-Cal eye mill! It's obvious this is about the money and a volume business. First: it took over 45 minutes on the phone with an outsourced call center to make an appointment. Then, there was almost as much paperwork as there would be to buy a car. Then, You're treated as a number. I went for an annual diabetes ophthalmologist exam and then was informed I had to receive two tests, one of which I've NEVER received at any other clinic before, nor did my doctor want. They tried to inject vegetable oil into my vein, and missed, which caused some pain. I told them they're not touching my arm again, Fortunately, this was the last diabetic eye exam I would have to have. The doctor said that if I were still diabetic, he "would have insisted". Do not waist you time with this place. Buyer beware on glasses. They are highly understaffed. I have given them so many chances to make things right and they just keep on failing. Do not get the extra warranty on your glasses. it takes weeks to get a replacement and there is a $50 deductible after the $35 fee. read more

I have really bad dry eyes. Dr. Binder has put punctual plugs in my eyes for several years. I needed an eye exam & new glasses. They accepted my insurance, so I made an appointment. I saw Dr. Noorina Zaidi & she was amazing! She discovered a problem with the "cones" & the retinas in bo eyes. She called in Dr. Hudson, who is a retinal specialist. I'm still undergoing treatment for this, & everything's done in the same office by all 3 doctors! The staff is polite, caring & professional. I definitely recommend this office for all your eye care! read more

My Father is 85 years old and is very slow, it was very hard to be on time today. So I tried to explain that to the receptionist but she told me that we have to reschedule. I totally understand that but sometimes they have to understand their clients circumstances as well. The doctors sometimes let us wait for more than an hour to examine us but they have to reschedule on an old client because he is 17 minutes late. They just lost 4 clients. read more

I left the glass there that day they where so bad. The guy giving me the glass did understand and couldn't be helpful. The glass made my Normal 20/ 20 Vision bad. But the Prescription part was OK but some how made Double vision. I use cheap reader glasses from the 99 cent store that worked better. read more

This company is everything that "healthcare" has devolved into as a result of the tyrannical insurance industry's take over of the medical industry. All these crap HMO plans with their low reimbursement force people in the medical business to take on gazillions of patients, resulting in long waits for appointments and aggravated overly busy doctors. Felt like an assembly line. Very impersonal. Huge office, many patients in waiting room, staff flying around from room to room. Disinterested medical assistants. Saw the MD for maybe 5 minutes. My eyes were dilated, I'm not clear on exactly what were his findings. No printout, no patient portal. Only can reach them thru a call center in Pasadena, staffed by the usual low intelligence, low authority entry-level workers whose main job skill is being bilingual in Spanish. The representative said they have 60 locations, so it's Corporate America all the way. This "drive thru" mentality seems to be the trend in "healthcare" which isn't health and it sure isn't care. Now my pre-authorization has gone into the black hole. Acuity says it was sent, IPA said not received. Spent hours on this. I definitely will be looking at better insurance. These HMOs are not decent patient care. It's all about the provider getting paid. Stay away from this place. read more

The optical department is understaffed, and the man at the desk was extremely rude to the woman I take care of. She has dementia and can be a little slow to process things, and he was abrupt and dismissive of her/our concerns about the glasses. When I told him I had called the day we ordered the glasses to ask for a tint and the woman said that we could come in and look at the glasses, but they'd have to send them to a different lab, he told me they couldn't do that, but wouldn't explain why. He said we could order a whole new pair, but of course she would've had to pay for it out of pocket. I got my glasses there two years ago and they couldn't get my prescription right. I will not be getting glasses here in the future. read more

Made an appt over the phone with a call center representative who was nice on the phone but difficult to understand and this rep scheduled me for a study that supposedly cannot be performed by Dr. Morrison. I am not sure whether the check-in staff thought I couldn't be seen by this Dr. or the call center rep scheduled me with the wrong person, but either way, this was not OK and it was a total waste of my time. read more

I started going to their La Mesa location years ago to see Dr. Katzman who is an expert on LASIK and PRK, but eventually switched to this Escondido location which is more local to me. Once a year check your eyes which includes intraocular pressure and pupil dilation to check for cataracts. Biannual eyeglass prescription check. Professional staff - in and out relatively quickly. Also carry a number of eyeglass frames in their in house optometry shop including designer ones. Good anti-Covid safety measures being undertaken currently including socially distanced waiting room chairs, mandatory masking and abundant hand sanitizers. read more

I have English speaking on all documents yet the called left message in Spanish since I don't understand Spanish cuz I'm a no sabo kid, I missed my appointment! If I were able to give fewer stars, I would. My husband called to make an appointment for our son on Friday and was put on hold for 30 minutes. The lady informed us that we would need to drive to El Cajon or further and pay out of pocket without insurance. I told my husband not to worry and that I would call on Monday to investigate. When I called on Monday, they stated that they did not see the referral that was sent. This lack of professionalism and organization is unacceptable. Our son's doctor's office confirmed that they had indeed sent the referral and even followed up with an email to which they did not reply. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere as this appointment process was a mess, and I can only imagine the headache that would follow after being seen. read more

It has taken them 10 minutes to figure out who their supervisor is today, and after 13 minutes, I have yet to connect to him. They made a mess of my account which was back in 2022. BEWARE!! DO NOT PURCHASE GLASSES FROM YHEM!!! I purchased glasses last year and paid for everything then. Now I get a bill in the mail claiming I owe them hundreds of dollars. No one called me and explained anything. The bill is so complex there's no way a non-accounting person can make sense of it. Also they mixed up my frames when they did come in and had them on display out on the floor along with the sample frame. Just a mess!! You've been warned. No one wants to receive a bill almost six months after a service claiming you owe them money! Trying to get someone to discuss this bill with me is IMPOSSIBLE!! they outsource their billing to a company called Millennia who has a voice recording saying to leave your information and they will call you back. I usually do reviews on restaurants because I'm a self appointed "Foodie"- and it shows. Hahaha, but seriously folks; eye care is a very serious matter. I was referred here to see (no pun intended- well, maybe) Dr. Morrison back in ... 2016. Dr. Morrison takes his time and explains everything in terms that I can understand. I'll need to return, but I don't mind because service has always been friendly and professional- team work at its finest. The restroom is kept clean, parking can be challenging if your appt is around lunchtime so plan accordingly. I'll "See" you around ... Ahahahaha ... I saved that one for last. Put me on hold to look at more available dates, then hung up, didn't call back. When I called, it was then after hours. I came ten minutes before my scheduled eye appointment at 1pm recently and she gave me a weird fishy look and told me "Ooh we were about to call you to cancel your appointment"... wow well isn't that sweet.. SIKE.. that is highly unprofessional and last minute. This place is by far the most unprofessional eye care practice I've ever gone to. It takes a lot for me to become this pissed off, But when a eye care office lacks any true empathy for their patients needs that's where I f**ing snap ! My daughter and I are out of town and I'm trying to get her a quick pair of replacement glasses because she lost them and now can't see very well at all. They asked me to get a copy of the prescription she wears and when calling I was left on hold twice and treated like crap and refused any assistance. They refused to email me the prescription which I've had other places and this one do in the past for me without any problems. This chick refused to give me any other option but to come in person to the office or freaking mail it. It was almost laughable because I explained that's not possible and my daughter can't be without her lenses. My daughter is freaking out she's crying and I can't imagine what that feels like to her knowing she's going to basically feel blind on our trip now and be worrying about her friends noticing her eye turning in. I even further explained the importance and urgency for this need for the prescription. The lady didn't care and wouldn't even fax the script ! No manager to help out this obviously very slow staff member named (Diane or Diana) My daughter has a eye condition where her eyes won't stay aligned without her glasses on and it makes her really uncomfortable and embarrassed while out in public. The staffs customer service is subpar to say the least and their phone etiquette is appalling. There is nothing more dissatisfying and irritating than knowing the little girl playing receptionist on the other line is clearly rolling her eyes. I really hope someone gets that rude front desk lady some training because I bet she's making your business look bad on a daily basis. Writing this for my mother in law who doesnt have a yelp. She had made an appt for a check-up and because her glasses needed to be replaced so she needed a full eye exam. She made sure to ask for two separate appts but they said they would take care of it in one. So she comes in and after waiting forever the check up is rushed. On top of that they say this is only a checkup and if she wanted an eye exam for her glasses she needed to make another appt! They gaslight and say she never mentioned said eye exam and offer an appt almost two months from now. So now shed expected to wait until then with broken glasses and expired prescription, we may have to shop around elsewhere because glasses are essential! read more

Don't come here if you NEED prescription glasses. It takes 4+ weeks for them to get them to you, even though they say it takes 2-to 3. No one calls you if there are delays for issues that occurred in their lab and you stay on hold FOREVER to get to the optical department. I felt it was necessary to leave a review based on my experience with this eye group. The front desk was prompt and courteous. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes when I was called for my initial eye exam. The technician was courteous and well trained. Then I was called to see Dr. Vanichsam, who was very friendly, gave me a very thorough exam. The doctor took her time and I feel very satisfied with my prescription. Last, I was assisted by Sal in the optometry department and he walked me through my options and made the process easy and to the point. I LOVE Dr Aoto, she's truly amazing and got my son seeing clearly again. It's the office staff that's the problem here. 1- it took me 2 weeks to make an initial appointment for my son because they never called me back after determining if his insurance was accepted here 2- they never called after his glasses finally came in 3- when I came in to pick up his glasses we had to wait almost an hour and a half in the lobby because someone crossed his name off the sign in sheet for no freaking reason and never called his name. The two who deal with ordering and distributing glasses were about to leave for lunch The staff seem to be really nice but are inefficient and apparently do not have good time management skills. read more

The eye doctor is great. The optician, however, is very incompetent. We were promised a week to get my son's new frames. It's been two weeks now and we've been lied to and given the run-around. First, we're told they're waiting on the frames because they're in Italy. Now they're waiting for them because they come from San Diego. What is it really???? Oh, on the first trip, he said he'd order the frames and we'll be contacted a week from then. Never happened. Until we had to raise our voices a bit, he had never put in an order. Let me add too that he taped up the ear piece of my son's glasses and said he can wear them like that until the new frames "he forgot to order" come in. Who does that? This is ridiculous! read more

Very unprofessional staff. I visited in June 2021. Dropped off prescription and got measured an selected frames. I was deciding on transitional or biophocal. I called back to order and they lost my prescription. Okay so I fax them and requested someone to call me back. Finally a week later called back because no response. They say they never got fax. I have transmission slip. Again I fax it over and ask to call. No call. I fax it again and they finally verify receipt. 4 months later' I call about my glasses. Worst place for eye care and regular visits. The front desk staff, billing, referral and any appointments scheduled are poorly disorganized and incredibly rude and condescending. I wouldn't recommend this Escondido location to anyone. I do think the facility needs a full training and update on how to treat customers, run insurance as well as communicate. Also, I noticed that all the staff in front don't actually work, they are always busy on their mobile phones and giving random responses that they didn't actually inquire on. They'll also repeatedly say they called the insurance or submitted a document for medicine when in fact they don't and instead make false statements. I am looking to report the circumstances to those actually responsible for hiring and managing staff. I also plan to report this facility to the BBB as of result of them refusing patient care in several occasions due to technicalities such as not receiving a fax or insurance card when both are in the office, they simply don't care enough about patients or best practices and working diligently for the customers. read more

Was referred to the facility by my primary treating physician. Got to the location and was greeted with "whats your insurance". Not, hello my name is so an so, how can we help? After declaring the doctor they scheduled to see me incorrectly, they where insinuating I didn't have insurance. Upon declaring my insurance they said It will take a half an hour to clarify the insurance. As a Referral was issued to Acuity Eye Group, from my Primary Treating Physician, it was speculation on the behalf of the 3 Hispanic girls at the reception desk that I did not have insurance coverage and they tried to get me to pay with CASH! Definitely an unprofessional atmosphere with lack of common sense and or compassion for the referred Patients. They want your cash be careful to anyone whom plans on visiting this location. Made a new appointment to get my eye flushed out immediately at different location. Hope this comment helps. read more

So this is the first time I've been to west Coast eye care in Escondido. Let me tell you right off the bat i saw warning signs this was going to be a bad experience. A family came in to pick up their prescriptions and the man working the optical pick up station had the nerve to give the girl her glasses and ask her how do it feel? She told him these aren't right. I cant see. He said are you sure? Is this your first time? If that's the case you'll need to wear them a little more. The girl kept telling him no i can see at all. Come to find out they processed the wrong prescription. SMH!! We were finally called back and my mom is an elderly woman who speaks little English. The lady giving her the exam kept huffing and puffing since she couldn't give her the right letters. Let me tell you i wanted to snatch the back of ponytail so quick!! it's unprofessional to show frustration in front of your patients. Don't even get me started on the wait time!! At this point I hope you get where I'm going with this review. Avoid this place as much as possible. read more
