She is so nice, gentle, and reassuring. She talks you through everything she's doing and really takes the time that you need as her patient. Dr. McIntyre isn't the only great thing about Accent on Eyes. Her staff is also super nice. I had to go back a few times - exam, pick up glasses, pick up sunglasses, and then I had a mystery "issue" with my sunglasses. I felt like they were "off." Like my depth perception was off and they gave me headaches and threw off my balance. It was weird. The ophthalmologist didn't see anything "wrong" with my sunglasses, but he ordered new lenses for them anyway. They never once said anything like "give it some time and you'll get used to it." They really listened to everything I said, and never made me feel stupid or annoying. Once the lenses were replaced, the sunglasses were great! I was completely impressed with everything. Even though my experience wasn't "perfect," the people at Accent on Eyes made the experience as good as it could possibly be. They were so nice and patient the whole time. They made sure I walked away completely satisfied and able to see! :-)

First of all, Dr. McIntyre is congenial and obviously experienced. She has tons of eye-examining…read moreequipment, which she should probably sell off some to streamline her operation, as the patient has to move from room to room throughout the exam. But I'm not an eye doctor, so perhaps they need all that stuff. It just seemed like there was too much and that it would serve the Dr and her clients to reduce and consolidate. Things also seemed a bit disorganized and the Dr a little scattered. And though I can relate, being a middle-aged woman myself, it didn't engender confidence. Perhaps this is a new location and they hadn't yet fully settled. In the end, I let myself be talked out of a pair of glasses that I still (weeks later) feel would have looked better on me. The pair the Dr and her receptionist (optician was out due to injury) talked me into are not my style. I suspect they thought my choice was too "hipster". Two main issues remain. 1. The cost: Even though we've had VSP insurance with various employers for years, this is the first time I used it and went with a VSP provider. These glasses without the insurance, Dr. McIntyre told me, would have been over $800! That's double my cost at non-VSP providers, which makes me think this, and perhaps other providers, pad the cost because there's insurance. After insurance, it was the same as I pay without. 2. The prescription: With these new specs my vision is not sharp; I feel like I'm always squinting to see clearly, which encourages wrinkles I was hoping to ease with a new Rx. There's just a general dullness or blurriness to my world that I didn't expect with new glasses. Usually, a new pair of glasses makes everything super sharp, but not with these. Dr. McIntyre said my vision had improved after comparing my old (a pair that was 2 Rx's ago). That should have set off some bells, I guess; my vision has NEVER improved -- nothing on the human body does. If I could afford it, I'd go back to Lenscrafters to see if they could "clear" things up for me. Summary: At Accent on Eyes, using VSP insurance I got insufficient vision correction & frames I don't like for around $400. (Without insurance last year, I got frames I like & clear vision for around $400.) Sorry, Dr. McIntyre.

When I first moved to Fallbrook, I was clueless about finding a good, if not great, (yes, the GREAT…read moreones do exist!), pediatrician for my two children. My daughter had just entered fifth grade, and my son was entering kindegarten, and having just come from our doctors at Loma Linda University Medical Group, well, needless to say, my standards were high and I wanted to find a pediatrician of the same intellectual/common sense caliber as those I'd left behind. My next door neighbor, Susan Urquhart, long-time resident of Fallbrook, gave me the name of HER pediatrician, Dr. Ronald Woerpel of Sharp Pediatric Medical Group in Oceanside. She couldn't say enough good things about him, and as her kids were the same age as mine, was going through all the typical young children medical stuff us moms all go through. Thanks to Susie, I brought both children in; Jen was due for shots, Jeff for his diptheria/mumps/measles vaccine. Squalling babies, children of all ages, up to teenagers, have gone through his office; needless to say, so began a long and healthy association with Dr. Ron (he has a twin brother who is a veterinarian practicing in Orange County - my husband, upon meeting Dr. Ron, discovered the resemblance and said, "You look really familiar - do you have a brother who is a veterinarian?")! Turns out, my husband, in the animal health business, had called on Dr. Woerpel's brother's practice! I knew I'd struck medical-professional gold. Dr. Woerpel is intuitive, matter-of-fact, professional, caring, and dedicated. Through the years, even when my children were teenagers, they still saw Dr. Woerpel for their physical exams; he always, too, kept my children up-to-date, when they were teens, on all the new and old sexually transmitted diseases, educating them about what to do and what not to do, and relating it to overall healthy maintenance. I like that; I don't mind when a doctor takes the initiative to talk one-on-one with my teens about all the societal and physical "horrors" existing in the real world! Not that I didn't, but it impresses kids more when a medical professional talks to them about it! And, because he has children of his own (most pediatricians do!), he's RIGHT THERE; he KNOWS what goes on in every growing stage of a child, all the way up into young adulthood. So, Dr. Ron, if you ever read this, know that I write this review as an extremely grateful parent, who now has two beautiful, healthy children in their twenties! One is getting married this August; the other is studying over in Shanghai, China! Yes, I still have to pester them to go in for their annual physical exams, especially Jeff, my youngest, but I am quite sure that , because of your care, they are the healthy, educated, and informed young adults I've always hoped they would be. Live Long and Prosper, Dr. Woerpel! Janet Kaemmerling Fallbrook CA 92028

Dr. Woerpel is now located in Scripps Coastal Medical Center off of Salk Ave in Carlsbad. Now I would like to preface this by saying I understand being a doctor this time of year must be very hard as many people get sick and they are overrun with cranky patients and parents, but I feel like my experience with Dr. Woerpel was way more bad than good. When he came into to examine my daughter he didnt introduce himself and was very quick and to the point about everything. I guess he had a lot of patients that day and was in a hurry but how long does a courteous introduction take? When he started examining my daughter he really upset her because he was not very gentle and jostled her around a bit (because again he seemed to rushed) which made her really cry hard. I mean not jostled to the point of causing pain but you'd think if you were dealing with a tired, upset and sick baby wouldnt you want to try and make them LESS uncomfortable??? My poor baby cried so hard after he was done checking her (and she is a very good baby usually, even when sick) and was upset the whole way home until she cried herself to sleep. Not only that but he constantly interrupted me when I tried to explain in detail my daughters symptoms, he just wanted quick and to the point answers which made me feel like he was really rushed and just wanted to move on to the next patient. He didn't seem to show much consideration that I was a first time mommy with a first time sick baby. Like I said I understand he sees women just like me hundreds of times a week, but still... I just got all around bad vibes from him. Maybe I just caught him on a bad day but I will never see this pediatrician again.

My grand daughter had her orthodontic treatment with Dr. Leah Walker. Other than hearing about a…read morelack of communication with Dr. Walker, everything seemed fine. After her treatment, her hygienist was alarmed at the bone loss on her lower anterior area. You could actually see the roots of her teeth through the thinness of her gums. She ended up needing a gum graft. The prognosis is poor. She had 9 mm of bone loss and has a good chance of losing her lower front teeth. She will need a bone graft and possible implants in her future. I was tempted to send her records of her orthodontic treatment to the American Association of Orthodontics. We realized there is a risk in all medical and dental procedures and did not pursue any action against Dr. Walker. Recently my grand daughter's lower retainer was discovered by another dentist to have been broken. She went back to Dr. Walker and we were shocked that not only did she not replace it, she charged for the repair. Now, one of her teeth is moving forward. Not good for teeth compromised already. My grand daughter has called their office 3 times over the last week. They have never returned her call. What has forced me to take the time to do this review is Dr. Walkers lack of empathy, compassion, communication, care and concern. She never once explained, apologized or inquired about this situation. The periodontist sent her all surgery reports, and photos. She never reached out to my grand daughter to express any care or concern.
