I really wanted to have a good experience here but, unfortunately, it turned out to be awful. They refused to honor their promises, they made a $100.00 mistake and so were unwilling to trouble shoot my glasses in order to avoid losing even more money!!!
Suggestion - Make sure to get everything in writing including any and all statements made by the store employees!!
The good- nice store, friendly people, good selection.
The bad:
They do not honor their assurances and will not trouble shoot lenses if they don't feel like doing so.
I wanted progressive lenses. I was told I would have one month to determine if they worked for me. If not, they would be replaced at no cost. When I found the right eye to be blurry, I was simply told I needed to have a new prescription.
Okay...so the next day, another 30 minute drive to the optometrist, found out that my prescription was exactly right and the the problem was pupil distance. So the doctor wrote another prescription to adjust the pupil axis. He stated that this happens often and is very common. When I mentioned that Len 4 Less said I may be a non-adapt, he said no, that would take a few weeks to determine.
When I returned to Lens 4 Less with the new prescription, you can imagine my shock when they refused to redo the lens, saying it was no use as I am a non-adapt, meaning progressives will never work for me. Uh...what happened to that month period of adjustment and why then did they tell me to go get another prescription if they had no intention of fulfilling it???
I started to get a little upset and frustrated but I still wanted to find a solution; maybe bifocals or tinted reading glasses, but the only thing Kevin, store employee, could say was that he would happily give me a refund. Every time I questioned their decision, he would politely suggest a refund. He even kindly suggested I go to another store as they might be able to "do something" to fix it. What!?? Do something? Five minutes earlier he said nothing could be done as I am a non-adapt!!! So which is it Kevin!????
When I stated that they wanted to get rid of me since they were already $100 in the hole with my account, Kevin became very sarcastic and his body language (huffing and puffing around the store with heavy steps, putting things away in a harsh manner) showed me that he was thoroughly annoyed and had no intention of being helpful. It annoyed him that, one, I was trying to get them to honor their verbal agreement and two, I remained in the store trying to determine another solution. I was so humiliated and upset at his reaction that I finally gave in and just asked for a refund. I could no longer work with a company that kept treating me worse and worse. As I walked out, Kevin sarcastically wished me a very nice weekend. Talk about adding insult to injury!
The frames I selected could only use poly carbonate lenses but the gal working that day missed this detail and did not mention it. Instead, Lens 4 Less absorbed the cost and fulfilled my order with the poly carbonate lenses. Okay, that was nice of them but it turned out to work against me as this is the reason they refused to trouble shoot my glasses, - they were already in the hole $100.00, which I never asked them to do! Now I am paying the price.
Dr. Goldberg at Penney's in Carlsbad is wonderful. He knew exactly what the problem was but, apparently, Kevin and John at Lens 4 Less know more than a doctor. Penney's has generously offered to help me work with my budget. read more
