We wanted to give the E Tang Asian Bistro location a try to see how it compared to the original E Tang Asian Restaurant--unfortunately, this one didn't quite hit the mark for us. We ordered beef and broccoli, sweet-and-sour chicken, pan-fried noodles with beef, egg drop soup and sticky buns. The service itself was good: we were seated quickly, drinks came right away, and our server checked on us multiple times. No complaints there. That said, the food was where things fell short. The portions were noticeably smaller than the Savannah location. The beef in both the beef and broccoli and the pan-fried noodles was very chewy, which took away from the overall experience. The sweet-and-sour chicken was a bit overcooked and crunchy--still edible, but not great. The pan-fried noodles had good flavor, but again, the chewy beef was an issue. Initially, they brought me the wrong soup kind of debated me for a moment telling me it was the right one, but it wasn't. They correct the right one though after a longer conversation. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and clean. Lots of cherry blossom decorations on the ceiling make it feel warm. It was clean and did not smell bad. Our total came out to about $86 with tip, which isn't bad price-wise, but for the quality and portion size, it didn't feel worth it compared to the other location. Overall, it's okay, but definitely a step down. If I'm craving E Tang, I'd skip this Pooler spot and go back to the original Savannah location instead. read more

We were seated right away, the service was smooth, and the restaurant was very clean. As for the food..it was just okay. The vegetable fried rice needed more seasoning, so I had to add soy sauce to give it a little flavor boost. The General Tso's shrimp was actually really good and crispy with a nice kick of flavor. The chicken in garlic sauce, on the other hand, was just meh. It felt like something was missing. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but nothing that really stood out. Excellent lunchtime experience with my wife, teenage grandson and out of town guests + an un-tried Asian restaurant recently reopened where a short lived seafood place once resided=an unbelievable "home run" in food variety, style, cleanliness and ambiance! (Etang deserves every accolade!!) At lunch, don't expect a 'Cheap-side' page of fast food type items, cheap. Instead, there is a wide variety of well thought out small plates, and full-size offerings. Small plates are about $9 per, and full plates are about $17-19. each. The big thing to understand is that all of the plates were shareable. While we each ordered items that caught our individual tastes, when shared on the big "lazy Susan" in the center of our table we all enjoyed the shared experience and had great food and a wonderful experience. The manager's name was Felix,and the service was on point without being intrusive. Recommend: orange peel chicken, fried pan dumplings, edamame, any of the bun offerings (shown is the pork belly bun) and more. With the volume and varieties of items enjoyed we left very happy, and with incredible flavors dancing in our mouths for about $15 per person including tip, and one order of Sake. Etang Asian Bistoro in Pooler is INCROYABLE! I'm a massive fan of their Hot Oil Wonton! This company has a few locations near by and this is my favorite as their interior is stunning. The ambiance is great for date night and birthday dinners. The service is nice and they have very hard working associates. Try their hot oil wonton and other dim sum options! The chairs slip on the floor so badly someone's going to have an accident and break their leg. The tables are cold. I asked for the plate to be heated, but that was ignored. I asked for water... That was ignored. I asked for Gyoza (which the guy called "jee-oza") but got fried dumplings instead, which were hard. I ordered shumai, which came in a very hard rubbery form and smelled way too fishy. They did take the shumai off the menu and finally got my water, but the fried dumplings were hard and cold, the sauce was boring, and the waiter then went into a long description... even though he acknowledged I was busy working on my phone... Food is the best! Even tho food is the most impactful thing, it's the service that continues to bring us back. We ordered 2 grey goose martinis and the manager said it would take about 5 minutes. We watched him run out of the restaurant and return in a few minutes with a bottle of grey goose. He had gone to the liquor store to buy a bottle. I have heard really good things about Etang and was super excited to try the newest location in Pooler. I called ahead of time to confirm there hours and I was pleasantly greeted by Felix, he instantly explained the hours and when they stopped serving for the night; as the call ended he said they would be waiting for us and to drive safely. He was so sweet it made me want to dine in instead of my initial thought to do takeout. Upon arrival we were instantly greeted with a nice and warm welcome. The place is really nicely decorated and has a lot to offer on their menu. The egg drop soup could have used a little bit more flavor, but the vegetable spring rolls and salt and pepper shrimp were delicious. We really enjoyed our food. read more

I am so disappointed in the Pooler location of E-tang. I always get the string being dinner and the portions at the Pooler location are much smaller than downtown locations. The service, at least in my experience was even worse. I ordered a Thai tea with my meal, and it tasted strange. I've had them before and I'm not sure why this one was so different, but I didn't drink hardly any of it. My server was not the person to deliver my food, nor did he check on me once until the end when he delivered my bill. I asked him to remove the Thai tea, and he tried to tell me no. Basically he implied that it's not their fault that I disliked it. I wasn't going to argue I told him it tasted funny, please bring your manager over so I can explain and I held on to my credit card. They did end up removing it, they didn't say thank you they didn't ask how everything else was. The service was already lacking because they didn't even check on me during the meal. The food is really expensive here, even compared to other nice that down Chinese restaurants in pooler. read more

Finally....some good and authentic Chinese cuisine in Pooler Been to each of the E-Tang restaurants. This is the best establishment IMHO. Service is always friendly. Food is always great. So, so, so wonderful to have an E-Tang location near us now in Pooler! We have enjoyed the original location in Savannah many times over. The pork soup dumplings are just consistently good and get us in the door. Felix warmly greeted our party upon arrival and sat us at a circle table with a lazy Susan in the middle. Jason expertly took our drink and food order. And Yay also ensured our service was on point. What a superb Asian restaurant in a strip center at the mall! We were passing through on our way to FL & I stopped it for a closer look to have some tapas & order takeout. But I stayed bc it was so lovely-glamorous really. The space is quite large, the seating is designed for privacy & intimacy. The ceilings are decorated with floral umbrellas & soft lighting. I ate at the bar. The servers were so delightful. Felix, the head man (owner?) was charming & recommended a French Sauvignon Blanc that was the best I've ever had. All three of the servers who so jolly & made me laugh. I ordered a shrimp dumpling "soup" to eat & another dumpling with veggie & pork to takeout. This will be our second time at this location and our last. We love the location in Savannah, it's great. We asked for dumplings, but they were so dry and tasted old. We came to find out they are not made here but in the Savannah location. We also had the spicy, crispy shrimp, which tasted like it came out of the microwave oven. I am sure it was not made fresh. My partner and I came on Saturday to get a quick lunch. I've had Etang in their downtown location looking for some beef noodle soup in the past so seeing they had a new location in Pooler was exciting. Parking was very easily accessible, it's in a location that gets decent foot traffic. The interior is designed very well, similarly done to how it is downtown. We ordered pork soup dumplings, the green beans and eggplant, dry pot chicken, and beef lo mein. Pork soup dumplings: my partner rates the pork soup dumplings an 8/10. He enjoyed how each dumpling had an incredibly consistent taste. I'd give the dumplings a 6.5/10. The soup was very rich but honestly lacked some sort of punch. The chili oil enhanced it but I like soup dumplings that still have good flavor without the chili oil. It's not bad, I'd get it again, but I'm more curious to try the other dumplings now that I've experienced the soup dumpling. Green beans and eggplant: my partner rates this as a 9/10. He finds the sauce was well flavored and the eggplant perfectly cooked. I'd say it was about an 8/10. The first few bites of green beans, if it wasn't coated in sauce, I wasn't a big fan of how the green bean was cooked. But as the eggplant and green bean sat in the sauce longer, I enjoyed it a lot more. We polished this one off in the restaurant. Dry pot chicken: my partner rates it 6/10. He felt like the portion size of the chicken wasn't enough, they were tiny. I rate the dry pot chicken as a 9/10. Flavor wise, the Szechuan based sauce was perfect. I usually hate Szechuan peppercorn, I personally don't like the tingling sensation. But they balanced it perfectly where you know it's there but it's not so overwhelming that it takes over the entire dish. Beef lo mein: my partner rates it an 8/10. He enjoyed the cook on the noodles. He just didn't find there to be enough protein. I rate it a 7/10. Flavor of the noodles was amazing but I think the beef could've had more flavor. All in all, we enjoyed the restaurant. The service was a 10/10, they were quick to seat us, very attentive. We'd definitely order the green beans and eggplant, I think next time I'd get the lamb dry pot because the peppercorns I think would pair really well with lamb, or I'd be curious to try the cumin lamb. read more

We had the House Lo Mein and the shrimp was buttery melt in your mouth, chicken extremely flavorful and delicious, and the beef was delicious. Noodles amazing. I stopped at this place early on a Sunday morning after my flight ride late. What a wonderful happy coincidence this place is great fresh hot tasty Chinese food. The dry pot chicken was so wonderful. It's hard to describe fresh flavors fresh vegetables, and very good service. My wife had a dinner called big shrimp or something which she still raised from but can't remember the name. It was a wonderful experience. We can't wait to go back and try something different.
