My fiance and I were sad to see Homegrown leave the neighborhood, but are pleasantly surprised by this place. We visited for dinner. It offers fast casual Itallian fare and an assortment of wines, all at a very reasonable price. (PROTIP: all menu items are $2 off between 3-7, also includes the wine). We ordered the duck fingers, kale caesar, cauliflower, and shrimp and bacon skewers. I highly recommend the duck fingers with just the right amount of breading covered in a delicious honey glaze. I love the portion size, as it gave us an opportunity to try a variety of things. Our total bill including drinks totaled to around $45. I'd love to see a rotating menu here. Although delicious, I would need more variety to be a go-to dinner spot. I'm curently fasting from dairy, but look forward to trying the cheesier dishes on my next visit. Went here today, the price was quite good and the atmosphere was what I was looking for, however the food was bland and the pours were on the skimpy side. The ordering is strange as you literally have to walk up to the counter check out the menu then order, I felt rushed. As I was not greeted when I came in I didn't know if it was wait to be seated or seat yourself. We went for dinner right before closing which may have affected the food a bit. The arancini was great - lightly smokey and good. The pasta with ragu sauce was really nice and filling. Wonderful phosphates, especially the tamarind citrus. The kale caesar salad was very solid and a good portion. What was lacking was the olives which were overly seasoned with rosemary and the duck fingers which were heavy and semi-greasy. I feel the batter could be improved. Wine selections were good and reasonably priced. Service was friendly, helpful, and outstanding. Nice little happy hour spot! Good food, good wine, good prices, and really friendly and helpful service. You order at the counter and can keep a tab open. We tried the Ricotta Bruschetta, Arancini, Duck Fingers (fried kind of like Chicken Fingers - these were a heavily battered and the fried batter was overwhelming to me, not my favorite but it sounds like some people love them!), the Beet Salad, and a special Steak Frites which was delicious and a decent sized portion for $5. We didn't really check out the bottle shop/wine nook but were told that they have a nice selection and that you can buy a bottle to enjoy with your food while you're there, or take it home.Would definitely try it out again. read more

I'm thankful I don't live close to here, or I would be here way too much. As it is, after dining once, I drove 30 miles to have lunch here again the next day. They make their own mozzarella! I tried this place for the first time a couple of weeks ago when I was in town for a week. Had a porchetta panino with gluten free bread. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the best sandwich I have had in over a decade. There are so many good restaurants in Seattle that I like to try as many as I can while I am in town. But I could not get that sandwich out of my mind. So I went back a second time--and it was just as good. It is incredibly tender. The sauce, whatever it is tasty and just the right amount. Usually, I view something like arugula on a sandwich as something I tolerate because theoretically its good for me. Here, the arugula actually enhances the sandwich. The only downside is I can't bring myself to try anything else on the menu, because the would mean not having the pancetta. And--they have a full bar! So if you you just want an easy grubbin' dinner and cocktail without dropping $50 a person, this is a great option. I don't write a lot of reviews, but this place is exceptional. read more

I should have known better than to walk into an empty restaurant on a Saturday night in Fremont. The reviews raved about the food and the low prices. Far from it. The prices were over the top for the "tapas" sized portions. The pesto pasta was $12.00 for a very small portion of pasta. Everything else was deep fried. The service is non existent- you order at the counter. No one checked on us the whole time. Pretty much cafeteria style. Very disappointing and a waste of time and money. SAD! read more

I came with high expectation as it had 5 star on Yelp. The food was pretty disappointing. The flavor wasn't outstanding and the portions were tiny. We just had a great time at Esters! Happy Hour is from 3 to 7, and on Thursdays you get a small plate of paella with a drink order. We had one chorizo/chicken/seafood paella and one vegan. The vegan was nice but the chorizo had a depth of flavor you can only get with meat (IMO). They have a great selection of wines by the glass, and some nice cocktails, including some made with phosphate like an old-fashioned soda fountain. I highly recommend the cherry bourbon phosphate cocktail. We ordered the duck fingers and the dried pear salad, which had goat cheese on it. We expected the usual goat cheese you could buy at any grocery store but this goat cheese was very fresh and tended towards a mascarpone cheese in how light and airy it was. The duck fingers were just what we expected - breaded and fried duck breast that was tender, lean and meaty but not dry. Last but not least, the service was very friendly. Our food took awhile and it turns out they lost track of our order and offered us a complimentary glass of wine to make up for it. That was definitely not necessary as we were just beginning to think it'd been a while since we'd ordered and hadn't asked about it yet. My daughter Sophie wanted me to try the food here for a while. We went there last weekend and it was excellent. I ordered the Carbonara. It was so good and rich. It was made with fresh ingredients with fresh pasta. The Arancini with Beecher's Cheddar was a good starter. They had a great wine selection too. Another thing is it is reasonably priced too and not a long wait. The restaurant inside looks awesome and inviting and has very nice staff. I definitely will be back again :) read more

Wow. We stopped by here tonight instead of eating downtown before a show at the Paramount. We just loved it. The food was so great, the wine was spectacular.
