The exterior of Erica's Cafe.

I am always open to finding new restaurants and cafes and this is a match with one of my favorite genres, a diner vibe. So, I was glad when a friend of mine from the area brought me here. The place had quite a few patrons when we got there mid-morning, but the service was still attentive and the food came quickly, sooner than I expected in fact. I ordered their corned beef hash and their servings were generous, nothing extraordinary, but certainly competent. I usually take a photo of my order, but somehow on this visit, I had a brain lapse. :-) The place was clean, it had good spirit and I've no complaints. I am always glad to support mom-n-pops and small businesses and this fits right in center what I endorse and encourage others to support. Happy eats to all of you.

This place is cute, small, but people come and go relatively quickly. We went around 10/10:30 and were seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, food came out quickly. There was an older gentleman walking around filling coffees and giving people with to go containers bags. Very friendly place. I'd say the only downside is that there is nowhere to wait. We couldn't walk out without asking people to move since so many people were crowded just inside and on the sidewalk right outside. My dad loved his omelet and everyone else liked their food too. My eggs Benedict had fully cooked eggs which really takes from the allure of eggs Benedict BUT they loaded it up with hollandaise so I didn't complain!

Service was great. Staff checked on us regularly. Amazingly it was fully staffed. A lot of restaurants are still under staffed since Covid. Food fresh and hot. Did not like the country potatoes. They should chop the bell pepper up. Very reasonable. Had three plates and spent $44.

Ever go to a restaurant and find everything perfect well that was the case. Best coffee I've ever had in my life outside my house quite delicious it pays just to go is just to try the coffee. Services quick and efficient despite the place being very busy and packed with most good restaurants are. I will be coming here again I give it a grade a.

A great breakfast.

A solid 4 1/2 stars, just shy of a five. I'm always looking for new breakfast spots, and when I found this on the web, I decided to stop in. It's a nice little café, it is apparently very popular. Even at 9 AM on a Thursday morning, it was busy. I was seated at a table right away. The place is clean, and everybody was friendly. The menu is big, and I decided to go for the shrimp and avocado omelette. Shrimp, avocado, bell peppers, onions, and jack cheese. I am not a fan of bell peppers, so I asked if they could swap the bell peppers out for mushrooms. They said sure, no problem. Also, instead of potatoes, I asked for fruit, and I got a nice bowl of very fresh fruit. The omelette was delicious! A generous portion of avocado, and also a generous portion of decently sized shrimp. These were not your little cocktail shrimp, people! The shrimp were delicious. The eggs were good, and all of the Fixins just played really well together. I really enjoyed it. The coffee was good, and they kept my cup full. The only thing that takes off a half a star, was the biscuit. I asked for a biscuit instead of toast. The biscuit was small, and it was not light and fluffy, it was a bit chewy for my personal taste. Next time, I will just order toast or an English muffin. The price was very reasonable, and they also offer a military/veterans discount. Other than that one tiny thing, I really enjoyed my meal. I plan on coming back. Thank you!

Stopped in for the first time today. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. We sat outside on the patio. The food was good and my husband loved the pancakes. We will be back.

Sante Fe Skillet

With an incredibly tempting amount of food choices, this place is much more than your typical diner. I had the Santa Fe Skillet, which arrived at our table still sizzling, and my daughter had the Denver omelet. Both were delicious. The servers are friendly and very attentive with their offers of water and coffee refills. We will have to go back and try the dishes we couldn't get this time.

What french toast SHOULD look like
Samantha S.

This place looks really run down and outdated. Service and food was mediocre and trust me I am being generous in saying that. I ordered a very basic breakfast combo. The french toast came out looking extremely under-cooked resembling regular buttered toast and tasting of pure egg. The server whose primary language is not English (which is totally fine) except that she didn't understand when I told her about 3 different ways that the french toast was under-cooked and I would like it cooked longer and it should have more of a brown color. She comes back 10 minutes later with an identical slice of "french toast" At that point I knew I wasn't going to get cooked french toast and had lost my appetite from the raw egg batter toast and frustration of not wanting to keep waiting for the same terrible food. She came back around a little while later and asked if it was better and I told her it was not. I showed her a picture of what french toast looked like and she didn't seem to comprehend. No apology no offer for a replacement item, no nothing. So we left. Fast forward about 8 hours later and I spent half the evening in the bathroom with the worst diarrhea and stomach cramps. I didn't have anything else to eat that day so it could have only been the food I ate and I am guessing it was the raw egg from the "french toast." The pictures I took showing the first one they brought out and the second one that was supposedly "cooked longer" actually make the french toast look more cooked than it was because they keep the lights dimmed incredibly low inside for some reason with all of the shades down. We honestly didn't even know if it was open or not because it looks closed from the outside. I highly recommend finding another spot to eat. This place isn't it!

Tucked away in the corner of a shopping center lies this gem of a cafe!…read more I met up with a friend for brunch and brought our babies along. There was lots of parking right in front of the restaurant that made getting inside super convenient. There was plenty of room for us to sit at a large table with our babies in high chairs & strollers nearby. Inside the cafe is decorated very nicely. The staff were so kind and welcoming too. I ordered a mocha and the sweet cheese crepes. My mocha was the perfect balance of sweetness and chocolatey! I savored every sip. The real star of the show though, were the crepes. They were perfectly soft but with a slight crisp on the outside just like I like them. The filling was sweet but not overly and was well balanced with the slight bitterness from the berry topping on the crepes. Overall the ambiance, food, and accessibility make this a great spot for brunch! Will definitely be coming back.

This place has vibes for days! The decor leans heavily into the green plant aesthetic. The outdoor…read moreeating area is very inviting with market lighting and plentiful plant life. There is also a side area to eat, however there were a number of flies buzzing around, which made it unappetizing (this was kept my review from being a full five stars). The indoor area is a mix of dark woods and faux plants, which creates a relaxed atmosphere. As for the food, there was only one plant-based (vegan friendly) option for me: the cilantro lime avocado toast. This came topped with micro greens and pickled onions, and with a side of potatoes. The portions were very generous for the price and the food was delicious. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the staff were kind. I also ordered an Americano that was good. This spot is like a little hidden green jewel in Citrus Heights. I hope more businesses fill out this complex so they can continue to do well.

They served the sandwich with the grilled, chicken breast, bacon, and BBQ sauce with the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions on the side. I'm not a fan of onions, so I did not have those, but it was nice to have the lettuce and the tomatoes have that nice taste when it hasn't been smothered in BBQ sauce or others as it's being cooked by the chicken like other places prepare them. I honestly left satisfied. This place really did live up to the recommendations and reputation it has. Our gym, Positive Impact Fitness always talks about this place and it was really worth it. I shall return in due time.

Biscuit particularly not good as it was doughy, wet , chewy and tasted of too much baking powder. I did like the big chunks of meat. The country potatoes were typical diner quality, but I just don't like country style breakfast potatoes. No substitution offered. Server was efficient if a bit rough around the edges. I sat at the counter. She made sure that I had everything I needed. That's okay, I'm happy enough, don't need a smile from some one who's bringing me food. Oh, yeah just like my old sourpuss mother. Now the value for the dollar issue... The breakfast was $22, the unremarkable coffee was $4.50. After tax and a $5 tip I was out the door for $33. I recently had a wwwwaaaayyy more satisfying breakfast at Mario's Early Toast for half that price. Hot off the griddle is a big improvement over a Denny's. But that's a pretty low bar for judgement. Sorry, no return for me.

I do have one suggestion. I completely understand and appreciate the elevated vibe they're going for--it's part of what makes the place special. That said, I think there may be a bit of a missed opportunity with the bocce ball courts. There are large signs saying kids can't play on them and must stay with adults, but honestly, I come here at least once a quarter and they're often not being used. Given the location and the number of families in the area, it could be interesting to consider adding a small playground in the back. I know that might sound unconventional for a place like this, but I've seen restaurants do this successfully in Europe. What's really missing around here is a place where parents can enjoy an incredible meal and drinks while their kids have a safe place to play nearby. Right now, the only places that come close are breweries. There are almost always families here when I visit, so just a thought! Either way, Shangri-La remains one of my favorite spots.
