I drove almost an hour out of my way to go to this cafe that I found on Yelp, searching on "coffee shop" and "dog friendly" and "free wifi." The options were limited for north of San Francisco, and this was the closest. Took the hour to get here, so I could work on a computer with wifi access, while babysitting a rescue dog, who gets anxious when left alone. If I could, I'd deduct all 5 stars due to the woman employee who gave me a hard time about asking about their being listed on Yelp as "dog friendly." It came up when I asked if they had any doggie biscuits - I asked another employee and she jumped in, saying they don't have dog treats and made some crack about most dogs being gluten intolerant (not all dog treats have gluten, lady) and told me that although the dog was cute, it could not be inside. I mentioned that the cafe was listed as dog friendly on Yelp and she and the others said they knew nothing about that but there was a water bowl in the parking lot area. I was standing in line and had already paid for the beverage (otherwise I would have just left). I took the dog outside, where the only place to sit is a few tables in the parking lot. I got only a few minutes of work done, when the same employee came out and took photos of the dog - outside - WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I was so creeped out by this that I left as soon as she did that and threw away the overpriced beverage. Very upset to be treated that way after researching and coming specifically to this cafe, and then be ridiculed for asking about dog treats, then have them "document" the dog by taking photo without permission. The experience left me shaken and basically ruined my afternoon. A coffee shop should not leave you feeling violated for bringing a dog when Yelp search lists it in results for "dog friendly." read more

Bomb. As always! I love their little hole in the wall and the patio seating. My mom and I grabbed a coffee after hiking all morning in Muir Woods; it was the perfect way to end the morning. This is it. This is the best mocha I have ever had. Having previously gone to the Equator in the Tenderloin part of SF I had already thought that Equator made the best mocha, but I needed to try it once more to reassure the thought. I didn't get lucky the first time, Equator really knows what they're doing. Their mocha is not sweet like other places, there is a wonderful smokey flavor that I believe must come from the roasting of the coffee beans. The smokiness is paired nicely with the chocolate flavor and wow it is so good. I try mochas in other places, and actually typically get white mochas, but this one is exceptional. The atmosphere of this location is amazing as well. A coffee and surf shop? Sign me up. Equator Coffee you are very dear to me and thank you for such an amazing experience. Coffee was very "meh". Nothing to write home about. Just like the other reviewer said: place was not packed at all, yet it took about 10 minutes to receive our order. This little spot is so good! Don't underestimate the size of the location. I love how knowledgeable the staff is. They engage with you and make you feel welcome. You can instantly tell that they take pride in what they do. They have a vast menu of drinks and pastries. I had a latte that was so unique and different than anything I've ever tasted. It was the iced Habibi Latte with orange blossom, cardamom, clove, vanilla syrup, 2 shots of espresso, and steamed milk. My boyfriend had the Cortado and a Caramel Shakerato, an 8oz drink with 2 shots espresso, caramel syrup, and heavy cream (shaken until frothy). I just swung by this location to grab a hot chocolate, which was made exactly as I like it: not too sweet with the perfect chocolatey after taste. I've had Equator a few times and their espresso is excellent, but this was my first time at this location and I was very impressed. It's so conveniently placed, just on the side of the road on the way to the beach / Mt. Tam / hiking / etc. Not only was there an abundance of outdoor seating, but the little red building was adorable and the ordering system was very efficient. I would rate equator higher..but they charge an extra .75 cents for any non dairy milk. The fact that businesses charge more for milk that doesn't harm animals or the planet--is shocking. I understand non dairy milk isn't subsidized on a grand scale like dairy milk is...but where do your values lie? Even if it's a bit more expensive..you could cut costs in other areas instead of charging almost a DOLLAR more for people that want to vote with their money for a better planet and better treatment of animals. I would respect equator a lot more if they were a leader in this area and was the first to not charge customers a ton extra for non dairy milk. read more

The coffee at Equator is fantastic. Regardless of what you order, each beverage comes out perfectly. The asesthics of the interior is beautiful, tasteful and well designed. Everything about this brand is well considered with the exception of vegan baked items. Currently, they don't offer a single vegan or gluten-free item unfortunately. Especially in Marin, there's a large group (and growing) of people the want vegan options. Also, I truly hope the owners open a location in San Rafael where their coffee is roasted. San Rafael has coffee but nothing like Equator. We would go there all of time if they did. read more

I stopped by here on my way to Muir Woods. It was meant to be because one of the employees happened to be from the New Orleans area, which is where I'm from. The coffee here was amazing and service was so quick! It was a pit stop for me and my family but we ordered 8 drinks and we were out of there within 10 mins. The inside is neat and clean, and there's seating room available. This is really out of my way, but if I'm in the area again and am craving a coffee I would definitely stop by here again. read more

We tried a good amount of all the pastries and I didn't have one I didn't like. Particularly loved the maple and walnut scone. I absolutely love the coffee here. Such a cute little shack off the highway with seating areas inside and outside too. The vibe of the coffee shop is great and definitely a must stop on the way to the beach or hike in the area. This place is always filled with active community areas, beginning or ending their bike ride or run, so be ready to get inspired to do some cardio. Very cool spot located in Mill Valley close to bicycling and hiking trails. We stopped here on our way to go hiking and its very convenient because as soon your turn left at the light towards Stinson Beach, its gonna be a while till next great coffee! Equator Coffee has a great reputation for delicious, strong coffee and this specific locations got great snacks as well. They have all types of variety of pastries and other things like salads or hard boiled eggs. I love the outdoor atmosphere where you can find cool and modern furniture. I love stopping in this place for coffee when I'm in Marin. It's definitely more flavorful and satisfying than the other chain which will not be named here. I like that they still make little designs in the latte foam, so even though I know it's a chain coffee shop, it feels less machine-operated. I got a vanilla latte yesterday which was delicious, and priced lower than the competition as well. Bonus: they give out these cute little red cat stickers for free. It's advertising for them, sure, but I like the cat logo, and I am happy to slap that sticker on my reusable coffee mug! read more

Service was horrendous. Coffee was mediocre. Space itself is very small and can get very loud. Three stars for the hipness of the space and super cool decor. And super clean bathrooms. Will not return because the service was really thaat bad. Baristas were impatient and nonchalant. Coffee and Cronuts - Oh my If you see someone carrying a white cup with a red stamp, they are likely approachable and in that "good place" - be nice and don't ruin it. Really, I don't think coffee gets better than this in Marin. If it does, please let me know where so that I can take my PDX fam, and they can stop with the snide remarks. SCENE This is a cool red & black coffee trailer lined with industrial steel. Besides the surfboards and Marinites, the whole trailer made me want to pinch myself; I couldn't help think: am I in Portland or is this a scene from the Simpsons, where the hipsters take over a sleepy part of town, just to leave when it becomes too hip? The trailer itself makes the whole operation look legit, but the offerings inside make serving up craft coffee an experience that any Bean Worshipper could appreciate. I knew that this trailer was serious biz, when I walked in and saw just about every bean brewing gadget that my PDX fam has bought and ruined (cracked, spit, melted in the dishwasher) since relocating. Each gadget displayed here is a tool that helped lay the foundation for which my Stumptown family could build upon to strengthen their "faith in the bean." Now that I've found this place, I'm confident that my PDX fam will feel more at ease in The Bay. TOP 10 REASONS I DIG IT HERE: 1) several different beans with several different brewing methods for turning those beans into drinkable lead. Geeeek! 2) they serve cold pressed coffee for those of you who complain that you love coffee, but its too acidic/ harsh on your tummy. You'll get it cold because they won't heat it, but I'm a believer that cold pressed is the way to go if you can't normally tolerate coffee. 3) Cronuts holes aka CCDs (Croissant creme donuts)! It's like Voodoo and Le Croissant made a baby ball of joy - Beth's CCD puffs are off the charts! They are sweet and flaky croissant like rounds of pastry donut holes filled with/ vanilla creme....In other words, small, tasty deep fried rounds of butter pastry dough, pumped with creamy vanilla custardy creme, thn finished off with cinnamon and sugar . So wrong it's right. I tried one and it was enough, but I could see how these could become a problem. Try at your own risk, but you've been warned: highly addicting and might be the naughtiest thing you ever ate. And, if you want to go holes to the wall, checkout the actual donut which is the CCD in the shape of a donut - should be illegal. 4) the salads, sandwiches and other pre-mades look delicious. I'm usually skeptical of pre-made, but have considered grabbing one of each. 5) It feels and tastes like the the good old North West up in here - I like it. I like it a lot. 6) fantastic tea selection for you tea club junkies, from a former tea club junkie 7) staff isn't frilly, just seem friendly, straight up, and knowledgable about their offerings. 8) that's a real coffee menu with real options ranging from a average cup to that fancy $9ish cup of artisan glass dripped stuff - greatly appreciate the variety 9) plenty of parking to get in and get out. 10) their beans are Kosher. 11) bonus** Tcho chocolate and homemade granola is right up front. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED So, I'm highly recommending that you check this place out; but, I'm hoping that you grab your lead and go so that I don't have to trip over you when I stumble in to get my next fix. ;) *worship worthy. read more

Each drink is crafted, it may take a little bit longer, but your drink will be made with all best practices taken in to account. There is a lot of pride here. Seating inside and out, with tables and wifi. I am not sure who makes The pastries but they are also amazing, I had the lemon bar and it was tart with minimal crust which is how I like it.
