A perfect morning in Mill Valley includes a stop to Equator! Because it is one of the only places to get espresso based drinks in town, it is always quite busy, but you can also order online and skip the weight. They work hard back there to ensure that no one waits for too long. They have excellent lattes and a solid host of seasonal drinks as well. They also have prepared foods such as overnight oats, which are really good. It's quite crowded in the shop itself with both people waiting for their drinks and people enjoy enjoying their drinks, so I opted to take mine to go and walk around town. read more

Great coffee shop in Mill Valley downtown! We walked in here to try the Habibi latte. The sign is huge right out front. So easy to see it when you're walking or driving by. Ordered at the counter. Straightforward process - it's busy there at 10am in a weekday! Everybody there is busy getting orders together so it took a long time to get my drink. I asked for my drink in a mug since I was staying to drink it. Lots of mobile orders ahead of mine and there's a table that had many mobile orders ready for pick up. The habibi latte was just okay. I honestly couldn't taste the orange blossom, cardamom, clove, or vanilla. To me, it was just a sweetened latte. I'd like to come back to have a regular latte! read more

However, the chai tea was mediocre, I was expecting much more flavor in the drink. Maybe it was too much milk, but it felt mild in flavor. This location is extremely busy, so the wait can be quite long during lunch time and peak hours. There are some indoor and outdoor seating, but gets filled very quickly. As someone who has worked as a barista myself previously, I am aware of how involved and on the move everyone must be at almost all times and can tell how dedicated everyone is. In addition to the assiduous tenacity of the staff, they have also been helpful in answering questions and ensuring I get the right product. For example, I needed beans ground to make my americanos at home, and Lester noticed I hadn't picked the best beans for decaf espresso, so he recommended the "Eye of the Tiger" decaf espresso beans instead. I have been very pleased with the blend due to its smooth texture and incredible flavor. I am immensely pleased with the service from Clyde, Lester, Orion, Sergio, Olivia, Jackie, Alex, Rafael, Hailey, Juliette, and many others. This iced strawberry matcha latte was amazing. Best one I've ever had. The place was packed all day. The line wraps around outside. The service is done with a smile and they let you know the wait will be long. There is seating inside with padded benches and non padded chairs. Small tables and some larger ones. There's something magical about starting your day with a brisk Mill Valley misty walk that ends at the OG Equator location. Think third wave coffee meets regional expansion. Roast is middle dark for house but they have a few seasonal or single origins to try. They also have a great collection of pastries, some non-coffee drinks, and my personal favorite - gluten free waffles. To my dismay... I learned they stopped carrying my absolute favorite waffle, the Avocado and Brie, a savory and tangy masterpiece. But then McKenzie, the new girl behind the counter saved my day/week/year by asking the staff to make me one special. It's the little things in life, and this was a perfectly timed glimmer. Equator Coffees is such a dreamy coffee shop in Mill Valley! It's in the heart of a cute area of Mill Valley with lots of boutiques and restaurants around. There isn't much seating inside but there's an open concept to it (at least when the weather is nice), so the outdoor seating feels connected to the indoors. I got the iced matcha latte and olive oil orange cake. The matcha was good but nothing special, and the pastry was delicious!! We sat outside, people watched, and enjoyed the beautiful weather and our goods. I would definitely stop by here again next time I'm in the area, the vibes were just too good!! read more

No surprise here, but I found yet another coffee shop while visiting California. This place is what I refer to as a "local franchise". It has five locations around the San Fran area, all of course supplied by the same roastery. This location was closest to where I was staying and I was excited to explore not just it, but the stores around it. My naive self thought it wouldn't be too busy, as I ventured out on a Sunday morning, but I could not have been more wrong. The place was packed, inside and out. People in line, people seated inside, and more outside. But the line moved quick and I was fortunate enough to find a open seat facing out the front window. Per usual, I began with the tried and true Americano. There are moments, in the culinary and coffee world, where your expectations are met and then there are those raw moments when expectations are shattered. The notes of cherry and dark chocolate are anything but subtle, in the best way possible. The aroma, but not the liquid, spills over the edge of cup and invades your space immediately. And smooth?! It is akin to a aged bourbon, dangerously smooth and equally as intoxicating. Had I stayed longer, I would have ordered a second. The ambiance as welcoming and every team member wore a genuine smile. I was sure to grab a bag of beans and some stickers before departing, as I could only dream of living close enough to visit on a regular basis. read more

The coffee was meh and oddly gritty for a cold brew (maybe from the coconut?). The sandwich though! The bread was super fluffy (focaccia maybe?), the bacon was crisp and the saltiness of it paired well with the spread on the bread. I LOVED this coffee shop. I stopped by before an appointment to grab a matcha and a pastry and do some work and oh my. I had an financier + iced matcha latte - financier was just the perfect size and appeased my pastry craving without being way too 'over sugary' and the matcha latte was exceptional. They used their own house-made vanilla additive which they use to sweeten the matcha which was just perfect. The only downside to the matcha is I noticed they use Califia farms almond milk - bleh on the ingredients in this milk, but everything else in this coffee shop seems to be of high quality. My boss' favorite coffee joint. He loves the coffee. It's in downtown Mill Valley, across from Lytton Square and surrounded by a lot of cute stores. I enjoyed walking around to shop afterwards. The coffee shop is on the corner and is spacious inside but not a ton of seating. There are more options in front of the store and on the outdoor patio. They have a huge menu of hot and cold beverages, breakfast and lunch items, great bake goods and snacks. Service is friendly! I enjoyed my ice tea and a Financier, a gluten free almond cake. I love coming to this little coffee shop and picking up an iced habibi latte before I go on my hike, it's not too sweet with notes of lavender, orange blossom and hint of cardamom spice. The place is cute with minimal seating inside and a bit of seating outside as well in case you decide to order food. It gets really busy and the line can get long but they have so many people working you'll get your drink/food in a timely manner. The bread they use is top notch as well as what ever they're putting in it. The avocado toast is one of the best I've ever had.. None of these items will be found on the on line menu, so the first time I visited I didn't realize all of the other offerings were available, including hot waffles. It sucked because the place is so busy that I wasn't able to look around and I just grabbed a few items from the case. The coffee is good, but the latte's are milky and expensive. I was able to get a decent taste only by ordering an extra shot. To get a latte you will experience a 20 to 30 minute wait, typically. A latte at a major airport Starbucks with a line a lot longer than this will only be 10 minutes. Why the disparity? I only return because of the breakfast sandwich, the wait for a latte is really unacceptable. I did mention expensive lattes, way more than the norm, but everything here is pricey. There was also a $.50 mystery charge added to my latte, maybe because I wanted it in a ceramic cup instead of a paper to go vessel? read more
