I have been stopping by Rustic Bakery the last couple of mornings for coffee and a pastry, and it has been a solid choice. The place is clean, with plenty of seating both inside and outside, and there is a large selection of pastries, scones, breads, and grab-and-go items. My go-to has been the ham and cheese croissant, which was fresh both mornings. The coffee was also nice and hot, which I always appreciate. The staff is professional and efficient, though clearly busy, so do not expect a lot of chit-chat. I also picked up a box of Cheese Coins, which turned out to be dangerous because I loved them and ate the whole box. Good coffee, fresh pastries, easy seating, and enough tempting extras to make you buy more than you planned. I will probably stop by again tomorrow morning before leaving the area. read more

Came by on a Sunday around 11 for a quick bite and got the breakfast burrito. The burrito by itself was quite small, a bit bland, dry and overall just plain. It could have used a lot more filling. I did appreciate the salsa on the side that it came with, which was tomato-y, garlicky, and overall very flavorful. It took around half an hour for me and 4 of my friends to get our orders, which was frustrating because we were on the go. Definitely a very busy spot! The place is a grab-and-go establishment where you order at the cashier and grab your food once ready (or they'll bring it out to you if dining in). I picked up a turkey club sandwich, cinnamon roll, and ice tea to go for my husband. It was after the lunch rush, so the wait was reasonable. I'm not a regular and was unfamiliar with the process but it seemed disorganized. I was given a number. I noticed an ice tea on the counter and asked if it was for me. A little later, the pastry was bagged and on the counter in a different place. Finally, I saw a bag and asked. Yep. The sandwich. I felt like a dummy for not understanding how the system worked, but also was annoyed that I tipped 20% for a takeout order and it was delivered piecemeal with no way for me to carry it. A kind person who watch the whole thing offered me her bag. If not for her, I would have had a sandwich in a loose paper wrap, a bun in a small bag, and a cup. The sandwich was okay. It had two slices of bread, not the traditional three. The turkey was clearly deli meat, not fresh roasted, the lettuce was wilted immediately, the tomato slice was good, and the avocado slice was good. The bacon was sparse, as was the deli meat. My husband didn't eat much of it. He liked the cinnamon roll. But for the money, he didn't want to have food from there again. read more

It felt more bougie than rustic with quite an extensive pastry selection (Photo 3). We were actually there to meet friends for brunch at Buvette nearby, but we were a bit early. We decided to wait in the queue for a couple of $4.75 Cafe au Laits (Photo 10). First time at a Rustic Bakery and will not return...I ordered a coffee and butter croissant...The self serve coffee was absolutely horrendous ..no taste and just brown liquid ...the croissant was not fresh and seem like it was from day before and refrigerated for the next day. Went to the grocery store to pick up a loaf of bread, wasn't a huge option but someone at the store recommended going to the Rustic Bakery at Larkspur Landing. I went in and the pastries and loafs of bread all looked wonderful. Looking at what people were eating and that looked good as well. Rustic Bakery is a mainstay for lunch for me. They offer quality pastries, salads, sandwiches and soups - plus wine and to go cookies and salads and juices. They gave multiple locations; my usual spot as in for this review is at Marin Country Mart - Larkspur Landing. I've been coming here for several years. I will say that several years ago, the service was lacking at this location at least -- order mistakes, extended waits -- but happily, this seems to have been corrected as far as I can tell! My several visits in the last few months have been smooth and easy. The team is courteous and accommodating. I feel like in the past they may have been understaffed? In any case, it's a happy improvement. The food is the true star of the show -- with clean, delicious ingredients well composed into yummy dishes. Highlights from my latest visit is the chopped salad -- add chicken for best results! The champagne vinaigrette is a perfect dressing for this yummy - and attractive! - salad. The turkey pesto sandwich is a family favorite also, just the right ingredients. We chose sourdough bread. Inside there is community counter height seating plus some regular bar counter spots by the windows. The environment is clean and comfortable and inviting. Infused water is available. Outside there are multiple picnic tables for relaxed dining in the courtyard of the shopping center. Online ordering ahead is available and pick up is easy. Rustic Bakery satisfies. One tiny quibble - feeding my two children and myself can cost $75+. This seems a little higher than I'd imagine. I'd like to get a little better value. Visited the Marin county today to do some last minute Christmas shopping, and decided to stop by rustic bakery. I've seen their crackers but never been to their actual bakery before, so this was my first time! There were a bunch of people, and the vibes were great! So many people sitting inside and outside with their food. It took us a minute to figure out what we wanted to try, since there were so many options. We ended up getting a few items to try: 1. Pain Au Raisin - a tonnn of raisins! def for the cinnamon n raisins lover aka me! I enjoyed this pastry, but wish I had it warm. I believe it would've tasted better warm. 6/10 2. Chicken Salad - DELICIOUS! Great balance of flavors! I love that they include apple in it. 10/10 3. Baguette - it was a bit hard from sitting out. I wouldn't say this is the best baguette I've ever had, but it's decent. It paired with the chicken salad perfectly 7/10 4. Cheddar Scallion Scone - same as the Pain Au Raisin: wish we were able to get it warmed up. It would've tasted better warm. Need a bit more scallion for a better balance in taste. 4/10 5. Stumbled upon the cutest bakery in Larkspur during our stop to the SF ferry. I had the avocado toast and sipped on espresso. I also ordered a fig and Brie sandwich to go! Ordered this through DoorDash, as I've been looking for a good tuna melt sandwich. & wow did this hit the spot. I liked it so much I ordered it twice in one week. Only thing I don't like is all the modifications cost money (if you want to add pepperoncini, jalapeño, lemon aioli). I understand avocados but for $3 please add at least half of an avocado. (This just may be through DoorDash). But you do also get a side salad. I'm surprised I haven't stopped in before since we typically are in Larkspur Landing often. I normally love Rustic Bakery but this location needs some work. The location itself is prime and it is clean and new. I ordered online a bunch of parties to bring to work right at opening. I appreciate that they open early. Ordering online was no issue (ordering the night before when the store was closed). I walked into the store and it's run by a bunch of high school students and they're loud and talking among themselves which is totally fine. I don't have an issue with it but just odd there's no acknowledgement. I asked if I can pick up my order and it was prepared and ready for me at the counter. However after opening the box, the pasties were cold and not fresh. The pastries have essentially no filling (as seen in the photo). The order was also wrong. I ordered a Meyer lemon croissant and I got a chocolate one instead. Overall, I'm disappointed since Rustic Bakery normally makes really good stuff and have been reliably good however this location in particular is a flop. Services friendly, but the food can take a little bit to come out sometimes which is understood since it is not exactly a quick service café. I thought the orange almond oil cake was really yummy but kind of heavy, but the avocado toast was delicious. They use seed oils heavily. The salad dressings all give me a stomachache because they use rapeseed oil (I asked). Souvla uses olive oil, I find them the healthier option. Hello ! I absolutely love rustic bakery. So today I was very disappointed to see that there is a large chance that the brand is misleading the people of Marin. On their slick website in the pictures and video. It says the bread and pastries are made with the " highest quality " ingredients. Goes on to say the bread and pastries use organic flour. But if you read the entire ( corporate) website - the faq section tells a different story. It states: Do you use organic ingredients? Answer: only in our flatbreads all other ingredients and products are conventional. Well that's extremely misleading!!!!! I suggest when you shop here - ask to speak the manager or district manager and find out what the hell they are putting on your bread! It's very expensive. And the chemicals in conventional bread like -glyphosate are carcinogenic!!!!! To say the least. You can not lie to the people and tell them the bread is "organic" and then have some weird loophole in your website saying it is not. We can not sue these people. But we can make sure as consumers we ask the bakery what is going on. If you buy rustic bakery bread because you believe it's organic. Please go in the bakery and ask!!!! If they can't give you an answer - boycott them. And or implore them to stop their false advertising for people truly trying not to get their kids sick. read more

Staff are very friendly and patient! We came on a Thursday for lunch, and to my surprise, you can order from the breakfast menu all day. So I got a delicious breakfast burrito. This is one of my favs that I've had for several reasons: love the whole wheat tortilla, the scrambled eggs were perfectly fluffy, the bits of ham/bacon added tons of flavor, and the potatoes were cooked just right (toasty and cut small). Also loved the pico de gallo that came with. My spousal unit enjoyed his grilled cheese with added bacon and the mixed greens that came with. Only downside is that they don't offer Diet Coke - it was a different brand I'm not familiar with, and it had a terrible aftertaste. I ended up only drinking two sips. A friend highly recommended Rustic Bakery, so when I found myself in Larkspur, I made a point to stop by for a quick breakfast and I'm glad I did. I tried the spinach/veggie quiche and an almond croissant. The quiche was warm, flavorful, and had a perfectly flaky crust...definitely a solid choice. The almond croissant was huge and loaded with almonds, which I loved, but it was a bit dry and cold. I wish I had asked to have it warmed up, I'm sure it would have taken it to the next level. The space itself is clean and bright, and the staff were friendly even during the morning rush. It was clearly a popular time, with a line out the door and every table filled. I also got a plain black coffee (nothing mind-blowing) but it paired well with the croissant and did the job. Like many places, quality has slipped down while prices have slipped up. Got the Asian chicken salad - used to be one of my favorites with a really good balance of Napa cabbage and herbs and Romain. Now, mostly Romain with a sprinkling of MacBook cabbage decent amount of chicken and peanuts. Not the same. Went back another day and got the egg salad sandwich. Far too mayonnaise-egg salad shouldn't taste only like mayonnaise. It should taste like eggs! Had to throw half of it out because I really didn't want a mayonnaise sandwich. Based on these, I don't think I'll be going back unless I'm desperate for food. The chai latte was even worse; it tasted like nothing but cinnamon in hot water with absolutely no depth or flavor. To top it off, the service was unfriendly and unwelcoming. It felt like we were an inconvenience rather than customers. When we brought the match drinks back to the cashier she acted annoyed. They definitely need a new cashier and new baristas. And let's not have the kids experiment on making matcha lattes for the first time. You're compromising your quality and brand. Fast service, but it would be nice to see some smile. Very impressive bakery items we had Meyer Lemon Croissant, cinnamon bun, and Banana walnut muffin. They are all pretty good and big. The air bubbles in the Croissant had risen perfect. Not dry , with light moisture. Will definitely come back again for the bakery items. I have had a few work lunches here and every time feel a bit letdown by the high prices, $15-17 for sandwiches with no side & $14-18 for salads, and everything I have tried for lunch has been average in flavor. It's a very busy location and the staff do their best, but wait times can be long. If I am given a choice for lunch at Larkspur Landing, I much prefer the more exciting flavors of other restaurants there that have a lot more to offer for similar prices. read more
