We had our wedding and reception upstairs in October 2017. Chris and the staff did an exceptional job and made our special day incredible. I could not say enough about the planning and how easy they are to work with. Thanks Eolus!!! read more

For 15 years we have dined at a well known restarant in downtown Durango to celebrate a wonderful annual weekend. The year before last, the service was mediocre, and last year it fell off the cliff. So, we looked for a new place to celebrate and found Eolus. We now have a new favorite spot for our annual celebration. Great service, excellent food and super pleasant roof top dining area. read more

In one word.....AMAZING!!! This was the best meal my husband and I had in Durango. Truth be told, this is the best meal we've had in a long time, and we are picky foodies! We tried the special goat cheese and heirloom tomatoe salad. This combination of flavors was delectable! I had the crab stuffed chicken breast and my husband had the prime rib two ways for our entrees. They were Phenomenal! The prime rib was especially delicious! They have a great variety for a children's menu as well, and our three year old son loved his food and his first experience in a "fancy" restaurant! We had an opportunity to meet the chef/owner who was warm and welcoming! Barney was our server and he was stellar! I can not say enough good things about Elous! You will be missing out if you don't immediately eat here! If I lived in Durango, this would be my go to restaurant! read more

This has become our new favorite dinner restaurant. The martinis went down way too easy. Though I'm not crazy about asparagus their asparagus soup was something not to miss. The texture of the soup was velvety and the flavors did not disappoint. The scallops we ordered as an appetizer were cooked perfectly. Two of us ordered Filets and two of us ordered the special of the evening which was marlin. We could not decide who's meal was better because both of them were prepared & cooked beyond great. Our waitress knew the menu inside & out. She made wonderful suggestions and took very good care of us. There was not one area that restaurant disappointed us. read more

We opted to come here and try their desserts. Best decision of the day! We chose the beignets with coffee ganache, the ice cream trio, the sorbet trio and the cream brûlée with almond florentine. Wow! All were amazing! The sorbet had a mixed berry, a blood orange and a peach. The peach was sweet and as tasty as a fresh Colorado peach in season. The blood orange was also a real favorite. In the ice creams we had a miso caramel, a sour cream cherry swirl and one that escapes me right now! The miso caramel was my favorite. Smooth and silky and like a great salted caramel. The sour cream cherry swirl was also to die for. Nice and tart. The Cream brûlée was very smooth with a good amount of vanilla bean. And it had been salted. The almond florentine was thin enough to be transparent and delicious. The beignets were nice and puffy and warm and steamy. I wasn't real fond of the coffee ganache but I still gobbled it down. And I had a reisling off of the dessert wine menu that has to have been one of the best I've ever had! So if you're in Durango go to Eolus for a minimum of dessert. I expect the rest of the meal would have been just as good. read more

This is one of the best restaurants in Durango, in my opinion. I always try to bring our out of town guests here because the food and the service is always remarkable. I love their cocktails, but their wine list is pretty delicious, too. I love that they change their menu just frequently enough so things never seem....boring. This is a must try if you're in the area! read more

First fine dining place in Durango that was worth the money. Delicious, prompt, discerning. Waitress Donica was great!

Rooftop is romantic and heated - you can enjoy it all winter! The salads were delicious and creative. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Can't wait to go back read more

After a breathtaking visit to Mesa verde, drove to Durango for dinner. After browsing the three blocks comprising Main Street settled on eolus enticed by the warm lighting and general ambience /decor. We had a fabulous meal. The beet salad was perfectly flavored. The seared scallops wrapped in tenderloin bacon( a first for me) was exquisite and the smoked prime rib and ribeye doublet was sensational. To finish off had their beignets with lemon curd - better than cafe du monde. A wonderful surprise to end the day. read more

Best food, best service went back for a second night because we loved it so much. Can't believe this gem is nestled in such a rustic town. Loved it!!! read more

Really good! First time at Eolus and we really loved all the dishes we got. Staff was very good, knowledgeable, and we didn't have to look for our server when needed. Would certainly go back. read more

Absolutely the best place to host a special event or just have a lovely meal. Staff was beyond helpful with our special event, food and drinks were some of the best I've ever had. Chef Chris would be a top-notch chef anywhere in the world, Durango is lucky to have him. I can't wait to go back! read more

My book club recently held our Christmas gathering at Eolus. While the balcony was a nice, cozy, warm area, I wasn't happy with the service or the food. Our waiter was friendly enough, but when he told us the specials for the evening, he didn't indicate that the prices changed at 5:30. Therefore, the ten dollar burger went to $15 and so on. He waited until after the cut off time to place our orders. As a group, we went early to get the better pricing, but all we got was the run around. Would not recommend unless prices and times are checked first. read more

Stopped in to have a drink upstairs in the Patio. Had drinks, appetizers, soups and salads and then wine. Yes its pricey but it was great. 9/5/16 read more

If you want to throw you money away "Come on in". Crappy little tempura sushi roll $16.95, WHAT!!!! The prices on the menu are in line or exceed Aspen or NYC prices. Nice atmosphere, tiny bar. I give them 2 years. I recommend Chimaya across the street. If you want Sushi go to East by Southwest for their food happy hour. read more

Best food, best chef, best staff. The menu has something for everyone plus a rockin kids menu.Extras are, amazing mixed drinks, superb wine list,a rooftop patio ,and a dessert menu that is what dreams are made of. Durango's all around best dining experience hands down. read more

OK, the food was good ... not a problem with that. The service was WAY slow. Yes, it was a Friday night. But when you're one of the PRICIEST places in town, and you have good food and experienced servers, PLAN FOR IT! At the PRICES they charge, which, in my mind, are WAY out of line for Durango, the service should be screaming fast. Our very gracious and knowledgeable server did what he could, but the slow service and high prices (entrees in mid-$40's, not very Durango) made us decide we're done with Eolus. Did I mention the prices? read more

Since we are from out of town we chose this restaurant due to the reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, our experience this evening did not live up to the Yelp reviews. We ordered the pork chop and hangar steak. My husband's steak came out and the server tried to give me another meal that I did not order. He brought it to me twice assuming, I suppose, that I was confused about what I ordered. By this time my husband had started eating thinking my plate would be out shortly. At one point the waitress came over and said the food server had mixed up the orders and that my husband was eating a steak that belonged to someone else. It was almost as if we were the source of the confusion. No apology from her. She said my meal would arrive "in a little while." The meal did arrive "in a little while" but my husband has already finished eating. I began eating the pork chop but it was so tough I was barely able to cut it with a steak knife. There were chewy tendons in the chop that defied chewing. I have never had a pork chop this tough. Let's just say I was seriously disappointed. With all the problems we were experiencing, I would have thought the manager would have come by and at least offered an apology--but not even a nod from him as he passed our table. We left the restaurant with a distinct feeling of dissatisfaction--food (marginal) and service (poor). I will never go back. Durango has enough very good restaurants without having to risk another meal like this one. I do have to say that the snap peas were good--but snap peas do not make a meal! read more

I have spent many days/nights in Durango. I really think it's one of my favorite towns in all of Colorado. I've always enjoyed going to the nicer restaurants on Main St, and this year I discovered "EOLUS". Without a doubt, this is my new favorite, easily supplanting "Seasons" (which is also still very good, but no competition now for Eolus). The food is truly sublime, not only in the tasting but also the presentations and pairing with wines the owner recommended for us. Meats were perfectly cooked. Seafood was tasty and fresh. Service was friendly and attentive, and the decor is upscale and stylish. We ate there 2 out of 3 nights, but could've easily gone 3 for 3. It's that good. Try the scallops on bacon appetizer and tell me you won't be thinking about it for days to come. The saffron capellini with seafood ladled over it had amazing balance and taste, and truly rivaled anything I've eaten in major cities around the world. Our group had everything form steak to duck to salads and more seafood. The wine list is also to be noted. It's absolutely reasonably priced, and filled with a variety of wines from around the world. The owner knows his stuff, and discussed each of his recommendations and our choices with a passion that more owners should possess. I truly think that the same dinners at Eolus would beat many of the best plates in my hometown of Dallas and would've cost twice as much in Big D. I highly recommend EOULUS to you! read more
