    Taco Tuesday buffet
    Stacey G.

This review is for the Taco Tuesday evening buffet. We'd been wanting to try this offering for years and finally made it. Sadly, the food was just ok. The pina colada was good, just as remembered, but drinks arrived half way through dinner. It's odd we were charged for chips we requested, instead of being told they were part of the buffet. We were told the new Friday lunch buffet (11am-2pm) had more selections, including dessert. Next time, I'll stick to the regular menu and get exactly what I want. Lesson learned!

Here for the Day of the Dead celebration.

We love Enrique's. They've done such a great job of carving out a niche in Kuna. It says a lot when people drive from Boise, Nampa and Caldwell to enjoy their food. Owners Enrique Contreras and Ana Paz worked for El Gallo Giro for 10 years and then bought the restaurant. Eight years ago they moved to a larger building. We enjoy their special occasion celebrations. We visited last night for their Dia de los Muertos -- Day of the Dead -- festival honoring families' ancestors. The regular menu features a lot of traditional dishes and not just the Americanized ones found in most area Mexican restaurants. On special occasions they roll out even more dishes. Service is always attentive and the servers are caring.

Yes, yes and YES! That's what you should say if someone wants to take you here. Drinks- FANTASTIC- food- great- and ambiance also upscale for what is a homey Mexican restaurant. I see why the Treasure Valley loves this place and now I'm one of the many fans. Note- when the bartender asks if you want a large Margarita- just say yes. Trust me.

    Awesome stamp on their ice!

This place is simply the best. We came in again last night for a family dinner and had such a wonderful time. We sat in the back area this time and the view was beautiful! The food and drinks are always top notch here. My daddio and I had the fajitas, Mama had the enchiladas & husband had the fajita burrito. Everything was delicious. Our server Wilmer was beyond great. He got everything perfect, was attentive, funny and made our experience that much better. We love Enrique's and can't wait for our next trip there!! Thank you again, Wilmer!

What a great dining experience! Fun staff at the bar, and our waitress was super nice. Our food was top notch. I got the seafood chimichanga and it was delicious. The environment in the restaurant felt a step up from the typical Idaho Mexican Restaurant, and it felt nice. All in all, a great evening.

I love this place and I love it even more since there new renovation. It made me feel a bit underdressed. But the place is gorgeous. They had buy 2 shots for the price of one. It was pretty busy. The service was good. The guacamole guy he was so pleasant, and he made a very good guacamole. Our food was just plane delicious. It was hot, not spicy, but temperature hot. I got the molcajete. My daughter got a sea food soup so good and my friend had birria tacos so good.

    Perfecta margaritas Was very delicious

The food was very good! Service was quick! It was very loud so be prepared for that and make sure to get a reservation because if not you will be waiting. I live in California so the appropriate attire seemed to be jeans and t shirts.

Small chicken chimichanga ...not a good pick.

I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Our chips were stale (and on top of that they charge you for them) and my chicken chimichanga was disgusting. Chicken was dry discarded bits and pieces. Never again.

Spicy marg. Best I ever had.

I visited here while in town. One of the highlights of my trip! The entire experience was 5-stars. The restaurant decor is beautiful and feels upscale. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and helpful, but I was also wowed by how everyone who walked by our table offered to take dishes or refill our water. A true team they have working here. The table side guac was delicious! The drinks were huge and had the right ratios. The Molcajete was truly the best I ever had. The flavors were incredible, and don't knock the cow tongue til you try it. So tender and flavorful. Enrique himself visited our table and we were able to personally compliment him for a fantastic experience by way of food and service and atmosphere. Next time I'm in Boise, I will absolutely be returning!

We were invited for a birthday dinner here and never knew about this place. Upon entry, this place has a nice vibe. Cute decors. We ordered: Coctails: Mezcaltini, and the Flor De Oaxaca - both were presented in a fancy cage and the drinks were delicious! Another drink was the Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita - it was good. I got the large size and maybe next time, will add an extra shot or tequila. The Jalapeno poppers were very tasty! Be cautious though as our peppers were on the spicy side. It was still yummy! We also got some guacamole and chips and salsa which were good. Main dishes: Molcajete - where it was a combination of shrimp, beef and chicken. Very flavorful and came with rice, beans and your choice of tortillas. I wish I ordered it with either all shrimp or shrimp and beef only. The chicken was on the tough side. This portion was tons so be ready to share! We also got the Plato De Cabrito - very flavorful as well. Dessert was churros and ice cream I was a bit disappointed with the churros as it was still doughy inside. Just ate the ice cream instead. Service was great! Atmosphere is really nice. Will definitely come back and try the other items on their menu.

Birria Tacos, veggie quesadillas, tableside guacamole

I have been wanting to try this upscale southwestern Mexican restaurant located in Kuna. We made the drive from Star on a Saturday afternoon. The interior decor is very modern and tastefully done. We were coming for a lunch and the menu was extensive. Our server was helpful, kind and very attentive including redoing our bill to take advantage of a senior discount (55+). We started with the table side guac and chips. Guac could be tailored to your spice level and we asked for hot. It wasn't that spicy but that could just be the jalapeno pepper that day. I ordered the birria beef tacos with consomme, beans (I chose pinto) and rice. The serving was large 3 tacos with plenty of beef. The tacos were soggy not crispy at all and couldn't be picked up to dip in consomme so I ate with fork. The consomme was bland and had no flavor. The beef was tender (probably chuck roast) but also had no flavor or spice to it. The beans were good served in its own tostada shell. The rice as expected. I had 2 tacos to take home and my husband appreciated the leftovers and once he added his own salsa and heat he was satisfied. My friend opted for veggie quesadillas and a side salad. The quesadillas were filled with some onions and peppers they weren't charred at all and they could have added some cactus , tomatoes. The quesadillas were covered in melted cheese my friend was satisfied. I really wanted to love this place and maybe would return to try some other dishes. My 4 stars is because of the interior and great service. Birria Tacos were a 3 star rating no real depth of flavor you should get with the various peppers used to make a good birria taco.

Why aren't more people not talking about this place? Enrique's is the best Mexican food I've had since I moved from Houston. From margs to palomas and table side guac to decadent brownies, this place will please a crowd. The molcajete is worth it, easily could share. The restaurant is very big, great for larger groups. Our waitress was super nice and prompt. Will be back!

A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

Imagine yourself walking through the 8th St promenade in downtown Boise. It's hustling and bustling with people and restaurants that are packed. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see an alley. It's kinda dark, maybe a little unsettling at first. You see a steel door with a small panel at the top of the door. No door handles but a green lit old stagecoach light, a small wooden sign hanging g just beyond the door with a key on it. Hmmm, strange. In faded sharpie letters it says Knock knock on the metal door, so you knock twice. The panel on the door slides open and they ask for the password. Whoa!!!! Luckily you called ahead to make reservations so they whispered it to you. You give the password and door opens to a tiny little library with a couple of shelves full of books. The hosts welcomes you and you stare at the bookshelf knowing it isn't just a bookshelf but a door. You try pulling on different books guessing which is the right one but after a minute the hostess shows you and you enter a beautiful brick walled 1920s decorated room with seats and dim lights and no windows whatsoever. The artwork is prohibition-era themed. Heck, there's even a stack of wooden barrels that supposedly hold spirits. That is exactly the speakeasy experience you are looking for. We were seated in the boiler room, a private area which had beautiful wooden lockers with glass doors all lit up and full of booze. Books line the wall and there is an old fireplace covered with candles that have melted wax all over the mantle. In the corner is a poker table. Really the perfect vibe for a speakeasy. Glance at the menu and notice their tang of cheaper to very rare and unique spirits, some costing hundreds of dollars for a shot. Whisky, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, bourbon, you name it. But also check out their cocktails. They can even make mocktails if you don't want alcohol. Not only are the drinks unique but so is their presentation. The glades used I've never seen. Some drinks have a printed pattern on them, others come with dry ice that quickly evaporates or a cool smoked filled bubble. The whole experience was just amazing. This is a do not miss opportunity if you like drinks and cool, unique experiences. They even have another room in the back called the Garrison Room which looks like a mineshaft. I just love the thought put into this place. And when you are done, you exit through a nondescript door and exits to a patio area of another restaurant and back out to the promenade. Just a wow experience! So glad I did it.

I know my husband who is a huge pizza lover would absolutely love their pizza here. So for my birthday, I decided that we should hit up The James for dinner. I had made a reservation for a patio table a couple days ahead of schedule. I really wanted to sit outside with the family and enjoy our meal. Of course the day of my birthday, the weather was windy and cooler. I called the restaurant to see if we couple l could possibly dine inside. The gentleman that helped me over the phone wasn't really friendly but he assured me that dining inside shouldn't be an issue. We had a cute table reserved for us inside. It was pretty chill when we came in. A few people at the bar and another table enjoying their meal. The last time my friends and I were in, it was so busy. I actually appreciate how chill it was tonight. Nothing like enjoying my family and our meal in a calm space. We got some food ordered. We started off with some wings, clam chowder and zuppa tuscono soup. A pepperoni pizza for my husband and I. My daughter got the French dip sammy. I planned on having a little bit of my daughter's sandwich. I have to make sure it's tasty! The wings came out first. They were cooked perfectly! Crispy on the outside but the chicken wing was still tender. The buffalo sauce and ranch were in dipping cups on the side. We all had a few and then soups were dropped off. My husband's clam chowder was money. It was so good! Clams and potatoes through out each bite. My daughter's zuppa was very hearty and spicy. I love the kale in the soup. I had a couple bites but the heat was becoming a little too much for me. Our pizza was hot right out the oven. The cheese was perfectly melty. Plenty of pepperoni slices on the pizza. I appreciate the fact that the crust isn't crazy thick. It's thinner so you're not eating a tone of bread. The crust is crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. The sauce is not overwhelming in herbs. This joint seriously has some of the best pizza in town! Each slice I had tonight was fantastic! My daughter enjoyed her sammy. I didn't get a chance to snag a bite. I was too busy tearing up our pizza. I did snag a few fries and these folks know how to produce a great fry. We didn't get the gorgonzola fries this time but it will be a must have the next time we hit this joint up. It's been a hot minute since I have had them and I still daydream about them. Our sweet server got me birthday dessert. Chocolate cake with raspberry sauce on it. It was devine. I couldn't tell if the cake was flourless. It was really dense like it was but I didn't mind. It was still so good. I enjoyed the raspberry sauce that came on it. Since the cake was so dense, the raspberry sauce added some brightness to it. As full as I was, I had to make sure my birthday dessert was finished. I'm a sucker for anything sweet no matter how full I am. Tonight's dining experience was great. Our server was sweet and delightful. Our food was killer good. My dessert was banger. And the vibe was chill. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better dinner to celebrate my birthday. I look forward to coming back, sitting on the patio and vibing out while enjoying our food.

This place is great. I'd give them a 5 except that my last visit they had changed the menu and…read moreomitted some of my very favorite things, like the poke tower appetizer which was ahhhmazing. Actually they had several wonderful appetizers now gone andI understand the budget with things like that but I can't why the removed the best items. *wah wah wahhh* Staff is super friendly but you do have to walk up steep stairs to sit, so don't go post surgery lol. Their French dip is great, I've had several friends love the burger and the fish n chips. And any soup I've had there is good. salads are good, not fabulous The fries are on the thick side, and not undercooked so those are yum except once I got some weird fries so I asked what the deal was and they said those were like emergency backup fries lol Super chill whisky bar setting, they have a Oaxacan mixed drink made with mezcal that is mmmmmm. It's totally worth a visit. :)
