Not carne asada tacos. It's beef mush tacos.

One of the worst carne asada I've ever had. It's literally ground beef mush. It was flavorless. I could've had just onions and cilantro and it would've tasted better.

    Fun environment.

Very unpretentious and extremely hospitable. Fun vibe! The menu options were great, food was flavorful and the staff was genuinely friendly. This is a fantastic happy hour find but if you want the full menu, you won't be disappointed.

El Gallo Giro in South Meridian is the real deal. Get there NOW! Being from Southern California, I'll admit it can be hard to find great, authentic Mexican food in Idaho. This place absolutely delivers. The food was fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. The margaritas were excellent, especially the spicy one, the bar is fantastic, and the dessert was worth the trip all by itself. The street tacos were incredible. I had the lengua, cabeza, chorizo, and carnitas, and every one of them was outstanding. The cabeza, or cheek meat, was especially good, the chorizo had great flavor, and the carnitas were some of the best I've had in a long time. And the flan? Easily the best flan we've had in 15 years. No exaggeration. Be sure to ask for Hugo while you're there. His family has been in the restaurant business for more than 30 years, and it shows in the food, the service, and the overall feel of the place. Stop what you're doing and go to El Gallo Giro for lunch or dinner. I'd recommend dinner so you don't have to go back to work and can enjoy an extra margarita.

First timer here. I wish I could do half stars but alas I cannot, if I could it would be a 3.5. I can say that the service was great, very friendly too! I loved the loteria chairs and the decor. My girls thought that was a fun decorative aspect. We chose our own seating and boy, my husband was halfway to the floor with that booth bench. It was broken I'm sure of it, so maybe if we decide to come again we'd choose chairs. Now the food, the regular salsa was good and she kept refilling it for us. My girls enjoyed the bean dip and chips. We were excited to try the carne asada tacos and to be honest we were a little let down. The meat didn't have that like authentic flavor you want with asada. Although I liked how it didn't have the grisly pieces that some asadas do, but Idk I was just wanting more. We may have to come back and try something else on the menu though.

I really like this place for lunch, lots of menu options at different price points, important when bringing a group as it's hard to please everybody. Made reservations ahead of time, some of us arrived early and one of the servers came out and invited us in before the 11 AM to sit at a long table already arranged. We had one server and she did a great job on keeping the orders straight when delivered, offering refills on drinks and tortilla chips, handling a couple special requests on food prep. Had 13 adults, most of the dishes came out at once on a cart, followed by the others in close proximity of timing. Food was hot, side dishes of rice tasted delicious, not clumped together or tasting as held in a steam table out back for hours. I enjoyed the Pork Tamale and a Chili Relleno served with lots of red sauce for under $15 including ice tea. It's a fun decor, like being invited to a party with the painted chair backs, bright colors, so festive. Look forward to coming back.

Order the birria and asada street taco family meals. When I received the food my consome was open in the bag all over everything. Not to mention the flavor of everything was underwhelming. None of it taste the way you expect authentic tacos and birria to taste. I also ordered a drink and didnt recieve it. Guacamole had i fishy taste which is super weird and off putting. For $111 dollars before delivery fees i am so disappointed, I never thought tacos could make me sad until tonight. I will give them 2 stars because the beans are great and tasted fresh. Also salsa taste fresh.

Michelada, and jalapeño margarita. She substituted her margarita from tequila to vodka. She loved it!

(Also pointing out the owners used to be really close friends) 100% do not give these people your money. I have the receipts and photo proof from the past two years. OH BOY ALMIGHTY. I am not a person to write reviews but this one deserves A LOT. I've been a regular at Dusty Rose Reserve for quite some time, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I came in as I normally do and was immediately subjected to crude and inappropriate comments from a patron who was making repeated remarks about my appearance. He called me a "four eyes" and a "fucking ginger" because I wear glasses and have red hair. I initially brushed it off and went to sit back down because I wasn't there looking for a confrontation. Later, I went back to the bar simply to ask for some salt for my food. The same man looked at me and said, "They're out of salt, just like you're out of shorts." That comment was heard by multiple regulars and new patrons, and I want to give credit where it's due: several people immediately stood up for me and made it very clear that his behavior was unacceptable. I genuinely appreciated the people who spoke up. Then we found out this wasn't just some random patron. Apparently, this man was the newly hired manager. The bartender working that night was on only his THIRD DAY. When he attempted to address the situation and remove the manager, the manager threatened him by saying, "Remember who writes your schedule. Are you sure you want to do this?" Think about that for a second. A brand-new employee was being threatened with his job by the manager because he tried to stand up for a customer who was being sexually inappropriate and verbally harassed. The owner also threatened to ban us from the establishment for calling out HIS BARTENDER'S behavior. At that point, my friend contacted the owner because we have a longstanding relationship with the owners. Unfortunately, that conversation did not go well. The owner became angry and hung up on my friend. I then called myself because I wanted to speak with Rosie directly, hoping that another woman might better understand why I was upset and uncomfortable with what had happened. Instead, I was told that the manager had already been fired and that it was "not fair" that my friend had supposedly called to yell at his wife. For the record, my friend is one of the most genuinely kind and non-confrontational people I know. He was frustrated, yes, but he is not someone who goes around screaming at people. I repeatedly asked to speak with Rosie directly and was refused. Eventually, I ended the call with, "Thank you for firing the guy, but no thanks on this yelling," and hung up. I'm glad the manager was ultimately fired. However, the fact that it took customers standing up for me, a brand-new bartender putting his job on the line, and multiple phone calls before anything was done is extremely concerning. I've spent a lot of time at Dusty Rose Reserve and have supported this establishment as a regular. I genuinely hope the owners take this situation seriously... not just because of what happened to me, but because of how a newly hired employee was treated when he attempted to do the right thing. No woman should have to walk into a bar and be subjected to comments about her body or clothing, and no employee should be threatened with their schedule for trying to protect a customer. I appreciate the patrons who stood up for me, and I sincerely hope the bartender who was put in that position knows that he did the right thing. I moved to right down State St from the Local, so my parents and I have been here twice now…read more The first time was amazing food, but the service wasn't great, super rude and impatient. The reason we went back the second time was because we remembered how good the food was and how nearby it was too. The second time the food was still really good, but the service was HORRENDOUS. Brittney was such a ***** to me and my parents, my mom especially. My mom was complimenting her and something about the food, and she straight up just walked away in the middle of my mom still talking. And no it wasn't busy. It was towards the end of the night, there was maybe 2-3 other customers there. She acted like we were bothering her the whole time. Then once she'd leave us would just stand up at the bar flirting with the other guy working there and just ignore anyone else. Then on top of all of that, my dad tells me she added $10 onto her tip! FRAUD!!! I've attached photos as evidence. My dad still tipped her even though she was so rude and disrespectful. But apparently that wasn't enough for her and added $10 onto the total. I cannot believe that. And my dad tells me it was difficult to get his $10 back after calling and talking to the manager. He didn't get the name of the manager but he said that they were just making excuses and saying oh but she's our best server. Obviously not! Saying things like oh she must've just been really busy. Again, we were there when it was dead and about to close soon, no it was not busy. It's almost as if this business does this type of thing often because there was no alarm from the manager, then finally after much deliberation decided to send back the $10. Absolutely ridiculous. No : "I'm so sorry here's a free meal on us", or atleast a "here's a coupon or gift card for next time you come in", nothing. This is the type of thing that gets people closed down. We should report to the BBB. This is insane. And to not be offered anything to make it right is what really gets me. Like do they not want us to ever come back??? Not to mention tell everyone we know, etc. Yikes! And this is what we get for wanting to support local businesses instead of going to the big chains. What a bummer.
