This is the lobby Bar at the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel that a group of my co-workers were staying at. We decided to check it out for dinner on a Friday night. The food was significantly better than we had expected from a hotel restaurant. We did all get sandwiches though...so it's kind of hard to mess those up. Two of us ordered the chicken sandwiches which were good. I ordered mine without the BBQ sauce and bacon...but there was an avocado cream on it that was out of this world. So good. My other co-worker got the Reuben and he said it was fantastic! (I know it looked REALLY Good, and large!). French fries were average. The drinks were hit or miss. The jack and coke was average, the caramel apple martini was too sweet from the caramel but had barely any apple flavor. The best drink of the night was one of their holiday specials - a cranberry margarita. Oh my... I have been craving that drink every day since we got home. Soo good! The service wasn't great. We waited a while for the drinks and food.. But I think they were just short handed...our waitress was running around like a mad woman trying to keep up. We felt so bad for her! The very best part of the meal was the dessert - New York Style cheesecake. It may go down in history of the best cheesecake that I and my co-worker have ever had. It was so rich and creamy. Perfect raspberry puree displayed on the side of the plate. We sat there closing our eyes after every bite as the flavor was so perfect. Occasionally, I have meetings off site so when they're at the Marriott, this is a cool lounge to spend some time having a cocktail and a bite to eat before or after. The bar wraps three sides and will fit at many as 25 or so people and this gets complimented with many tables, so space in not a problem. Service is adequate if not good and even though, at times, we had a hard time attracting the attention of a bartender, they were always friendly when they arrived. It's hotel food so don't go crazy thinking that you'll have an earth shattering experience. But it does come out hot and is good. We had some wings and some spring rolls which we enjoyed. Kick back and watch some news or relax with friends after work. Either way, you'll have a good time here and won't think twice about coming back. read more

Yeah, I know it's a hotel bar that serves food, but their menu was quite interesting. There were quite a few items that had a twist to them; something added to make them different and unique. After much debate, I chose the Chicken Sandwich with artichokes and it was quite good. I nice chicken breast with mozzarella cheese and grilled artichokes on a ciabatta roll. I opted for veggies on the side (carrots and green beans) instead of the fries. Tasty sandwich and quite filling. I couldn't finish it all. I'd have it again or try another unique dish. read more

This is the cramped bar in the Marriott. Bartender screwed up RJs drink. He asked for vodka and Sprite and he got vodka and club soda. We had an outrageously priced brownie sundae which was decent. I sat forever with and empty glass, and it took just as long to get the check. read more

Located next to the Steinway Specialty Restaurant in the LaGuardia Marriott, and only open for dinner/late night. Came here for dinner after checking in since there really is no other restaurants around the area. Ended up ordering a sausage pasta that was average. Overpriced since it's in NY. Should've just got a sandwich. Tried a little bit of my coworker's reuben. Even though it's not stacked like many of the NY deli, it was pretty good. Comes with fries as well. Few TV's around the restaurant/bar with a lot of seats at the bar. They got your usual beers on draft so its a good spot to come for a drink if you're staying here. Just don't expect much for food. read more

I second the motion of "pricey". . $7.62 plus tip for a 12 oz draft of yuengling. This was coupled with my $16 chicken Caesar chicken salad , which was very good, but really light on the chicken. Bar staff was very friendly, professional, and attentive. I would visit again. read more

As i have only had the opportunity to dine here during "business hours" I have not been able to fully appreciate the Empire Bar's alcoholic menu. I can tell you however, that the Cobb salad is quite delicious. It is served over toasted flat bread which adds a very pleasant texture to the leafy greens. The service is friendly and polite and the prices are what you would expect to pay in a New York Hotel. read more

Located in the LaGuardia Marriott, the Empire Lounge probably doesn't see too many visitors especially since it's in the middle of nowhere, far from transportation hotspots and other bars. It's mainly a place for hotel guests. With that in mind, I decided to hop in for a quick bite to eat and a drink while my client was in 3 hour meeting downstairs. The prices here for food are higher than expected, while the drinks are the average $6-12 per glass. I had some tea instead of alcohol--must remain professional. My server was such a sweetheart; she brought out different types of teabags so I ended up having fun mixing flavors and tasting new ones. She even brought out a large kettle for me...aww! With her recommendation, I had the French Onion soup. meh...much too, too salty for my liking. The cheese on top was wonderful though..I love how Empire Lounge dosen't skimp the cheese, however, the bread tasted old. The atmosphere wasn't bad, and I didnt feel too ashamed sitting by myself until another coworker found me an hour or so later. Overall, the Empire Lounge is a great place to relax during or after work, but not much so to meet people. Everyone seemed to be in their own little world, staring into the large HD TV. Will I go again? If I had no way of leaving the hotel for a drink...yep! read more

Located in the Laguardia Marriott the Empire Bar is the only place to eat after Steinways closes for lunch. It offers a full menu with the normal variety of salads, apps, sands and a few full dinner selections. Be prepared for higher than normal prices on all the food. It's NY and a hotel bar...and I guess that most of the patrons are hotel guests that are on business travel who will just get it expensed on their companies tab. You can choose to sit at the bar or a bar table with a view of multiple TV's on the walls mostly playing the local NY sports teams. No comment on that for now. With no other options in walking distance this is your best choice for a quick bite to eat and a drink. Usually a beer special is advertised on the chalk board by the door and tends to be a light beer draft pints. I have even walked over here for a late night snack when staying across the street at the Hampton Inn which has no food options. Maybe some day the Steinway will open for a dinner crowd. read more

Stopped here for breakfast before boarding my flight, lured in by the ease of ordering on the iPad and being able to charge my phone at the same time. They advertise food delivered to you in 15 minutes. I ordered promptly and waited 22 minutes for a toasted bagel with cream cheese, coffee, and orange juice. Meanwhile the guy next to me left without his food since his didn't arrive in time either. The bagel itself was not up to NY standards, dry with a disproportionately small amount of cream cheese. My coffee tasted good but had some sort of grinds floating in it. I had to ask for sugar, there was none to be found. When I asked what was going on in the kitchen the server told me he was only in charge of drinks. I would skip this place. read more

Been staying at the Marriott LGA on business trips for years Thus I have enjoyed food and drink in this bar on many occasions - that is, until recently On my last visit, the daytime bartender (female) was friendly and attentive in assisting me for lunch Unfortunately, the menu has changed - not for the better - and the proffered 'Salmon Burger Special' was a tasteless mess An expensive order of sorbet (8 dollars!) to clean my tongue was the best way to end the meal Returned for a late dinner and a beer hoping for a better experience The Caesar salad was adequate, but the accompanying steak (medium rare, cooked as ordered) could only be described as tough and tasteless As previously reported, it can be difficult to get the attention of staff - even on a slow night By the time I could gain the attention of the bartender (male) to order something else, a minimal 'late night' menu was substituted (after midnight) The response to my complaint was only a wordless shrug, and no apology Very sad to post this as the Empire Bar used to be a consistent 4-star happy experience Put simply - declining food quality and spotty service will compel me to leave the hotel in search of a better experience next time Perhaps the F&B manager will take note, and have a go at turning things around to their previous enjoyable state read more

Had a ribeye, if I had not ordered the ribeye I would not know what the cut I was that I was eating , seemed like sirloin. Was not very good. Would have given this place a 2 stars since it was expensive and not very good but the service was really good. read more

My wife and I ate here today for lunch. It is very expensive for the low quality of food. I ordered the Marriott Burger - medium, it came well, well done. My wife ordered the turkey panini and could not even finish it. Her exact comment, "lunch meat on warm bread with no flavor". The positive was our waitress. She was very attentive and was always there to offer refills or answer any questions that we had. I travel a lot for work and I've just accepted the fact that most Marriott's are not going to have great quality food. It just stings more when you have to pay so much more just to eat there and the food isn't that great. read more

Better than your average hotel bar. Turkey Burger offered a healthy option, and the service was quick and friendly.

Pricey, but when you're stuck without many options, what else are you going to do? Bartenders are great (Walter/Nazeem) and the filet is awesome. I visit here nightly when I stay. Great atmosphere. read more
