i got the breakfast plate which is $18 for two pancakes, two eggs, and sausage or bacon. the sausage was really good! the pancakes seemed like they would be really yummy, but they were pretty overdone so the burnt flavor kind of took over. kind of disappointing as they seemed really good. another time i got the salmon toast and that was pretty good but also wildly expensive. overall emmis was just okay for the price point. if a small meal is going to be upwards of $20 after tax, it should be really good. read more

Basic meat, eggs, and cheese wrapped in a tortilla 2. Regular burrito- $15 and easily shared between 2ppl. Includes everything from the grab n go plus avocado spread, pico de gallo, and tater tots. Everything I've had here has been amazing. The staff is great, the baked food, the drinks, the breakfast burritos, the salads - I'm yet to find anything that hasn't exceeded expectations. This place opened after a beloved local coffee shop closed in the same location and I feel like Emmi's has not only filled that void, but exceeded it. DO NOT BRING YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN TO EMMI'S. They say they're family-friendly but that's laughably untrue from my own experiences. I used to enjoy going to Emmi's, I recommended Emmi's to multiple friends. But after two separate instances of my children being shamed and even harassed for being children, I will never go back. The first time this happened, I brought my then 4-year-old and a few of his soccer teammates to eat a celebratory lunch at Emmi's on a Saturday after a game. As children are sometimes, they were excited, loud, and two of them were playing hide and seek around our table. With no warnings in advance, one of the Emmi staff asked if we could leave because we were bothering the other guests. We didn't put up a fight, we left. This was the first incident. I was willing to write this off as a "I should probably not bring a large group of kids to Emmi's, okay, noted." Today, on Good Friday, I stopped by Emmi's for a bite to eat with my 3-year-old and 5-year-old before our church event nearby. While I was trying to place our food order, my 3-year-old dropped something she was playing with under the table and was crying inconsolably for a few minutes, as 3-year-olds do (if you have a small child, or have ever been around small children, I'm sure this is not news to you). As I was rushing to comfort her, a man shouted at her to be quiet from across the restaurant, loudly enough for the entire place to go silent. This was aggressive and uncalled for behavior from a grown man. My child was crying, she is 3 years old, what could his excuse be? At the time, I was alone with my two small children and chose not to confront this stranger who had just shouted at my child from across the entire restaurant. I didn't know him or whether or not he was threatening. I chose instead to comfort my children. A staff member came to me to apologize for the man's behavior, but they did not kick him out, he faced no repercussions for his aggression. Instead, the staff said they spoke with him and actually had the nerve to reiterate to me that he had "meant it to be funny." ........................... At that point, I myself was on the verge of tears. I watched that grown man child calmly finish his entire meal and conversation at Emmi's after he had publicly berated my 3-year-old in public with zero consequence. I wonder what type of privilege he deems himself worthy of. Meanwhile, as a reminder, we had been asked to leave last time for simply having loud children. And this time, it was clear that nobody at the restaurant would stand up for us either. Ultimately, I got a gift card "for your next coffee, on us." ........... So all you have to do for a free cup of coffee at Emmi's is subject yourself and your child to public harassment, humiliation, and trauma. read more

this place has my HEART. I don't live nearby but I would drive to sierra madre specifically for Emmi's. An immaculate energy in that place, from the food to the staff. I got the Emmi's burger--one of my favorite burgers I've ever had. You can tell the ground beef and all their ingredients are quality. It feels like it was made with love. And the true show stopper accompaniment for me was the PICKLE. Lord, when I say I died. I could not figure out for the life of me what the hell was on that pickle recipe--and this is what I am paid to do for living (not kidding). I kept thinking there was some magical exotic herb that I couldn't decipher...it was the perfect balance of freshness, zesty spice, snappiness. Lo and behold, after asking one of the staff where they got their pickles, he said they MAKE THEM IN HOUSE. Guys. Who makes pickles in house. The level of love in the details. This is hard to come by these days. Just another shout out to the staff--my bf and I kept commenting how personable everyone was. There was a mix up on our order and we had to wait a bit for the food. The sweet woman who made the mistake was super apologetic and more than made up for it in a piece of cake and free coffee. I got a cappuccino and I am picky about my espresso drinks. That espresso was dialed in and the milk was steamed to that perfect temperature window.
